City Animal Hospital

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
General Info
Through initial daily observations City Animal Hospital initiates pet care in Oklahoma City which evolves into steady support to keep Oklahoma households ahead. A multitude of veterinary appointments start when pet owners detect subtle changes such as increased fatigue, unusual pacing, vocal alterations, appetite shifts, or skin discomfort. The clinic’s intake process begins with an extensive dialogue which precedes a physical examination where clinicians assess weight parameters, hydration levels, cardiovascular patterns, ear health, movement abnormalities, and coat quality. Each observation is recorded to build a medical history that changes over time while results are discussed openly. City Animal Hospital provides diagnostic panels vaccine schedules dental cleanings mobility assessments parasite screening nutrition planning and senior pet evaluations. Care plans adapt to fit the pet's lifestyle and family rhythm by offering options for single-visit coverage phased services or milestone-based monitoring. The scheduling of appointments can be modified according to seasonal changes or to align with variations in personal behavior patterns, energy levels, and family availability. Post-visit documentation delivered to clients encompasses detailed behavior records alongside medication timetables and future projections. The system permits follow-ups via app-based scheduling or direct reminders which include personalized treatment instructions and home support guidelines. City Animal Hospital enables pet owners throughout Oklahoma City and the entire state to identify potential health issues early and take decisive action—transforming health indicators into a sustainable care routine.

My friend recommended City Animal Hospital when we moved to Oklahoma City two years ago.  We have taken our two shelter dogs there since.  Our girl, Alice, has a weight problem; she's quite a big girl. When we first adopted her at three months old, she weighed 20 lbs.  Our vet at the time asked us to place bets on how big she would get, and we all guessed somewhere in the 50 lb. range.  Well, she just kept growing, and is now a 120 lb. lap dog.  The vets we took her to when we lived in Tulsa and Denver always told us to cut back on treats and go for more walks.  We did that.  Finally, we found Dr. Worland, and she believed us when we said that we go for walks and limit the treats to mostly fresh carrots or green beans.  Dr. Worland recommended a thyroid test, and as it turns out, yes, our girl does have a thyroid issue.  She's lost some weight since going on thyroid meds, but she still has quite a ways to go.  The scale has not gone up anymore, though, so I feel like that's a win.  I really like Dr. Worland's straightforward approach and I also think the prices are fair.  The walk-in style of the clinic can be a little bit of a headache when taking our less well-behaved dog, but for certain procedures (such as teeth cleanings) you can schedule ahead of time. I have been taking my dogs here since I moved to the area last August. Dr. Worland has a no-nonsense, practical approach to providing care. She has been great with helping us find the best solutions for my older dog's health issues that fit into my budget and keep her comfortable. If you're looking for the state-of-the art, fancy facility vet office, this is not it.The front desk is run with paper folders and a calculator. If you're looking for a vet that will sit down on the floor with you and your dog, that will take blood and do most procedures herself rather than having a tech do everything, won't bill you to death for a 5-minute follow up, and that will work with you to find the best treatment plan, this is the place for you. The office runs on a walk-in basis without appointments. I was skeptical at first, but now I like it. I have only had to wait longer than 15 minutes once and one of the doctors was out that day. There have been several times when I needed to take my dog in for a follow-up visit and was able to squeeze in whenever I had a chance to leave work early rather than having a hard set appointment. I really wanted to like it, I really did. Read all the great reviews on Google and headed over to take a look and meet the vet. This place is centrally located and in a cute older building, the lobby had cute vintage decor and friendly cats. But then I made it beyond the lobby- and felt like I stepped into a scene from "Hostel." An old building is fine, but an old, dirty, dark, falling-apart building isn't somewhere I want to leave my dogs while I'm out of town. The boarding kennels are filthy crate-sized cages, rather than dog runs. Were there even lights on in this place...? It was so dark once you made it past the lobby, like being in a dirty basement. My old vet retired years ago and I haven't been able to find a place that I like since then. I took an emaciated stray kitten we found in to check her out and I am very impressed. It took a while to get seen because they are walk-ins only, but the staff was friendly and the Dr who saw my kitten was very helpful. Dr cleaned up my kitten, did tests, gave her medicine and gave me the rest of the prescription, and when she came back out she brought a huge "sample" box of kitten food! Now i've been to Neels and a couple other "big" clinics in my search to find a decent vet and I've never been given a sample of anything let alone such a big size. The bag of food will last me over a month and it came with some canned food too. She also gave me some samples of shampoo since my kitten was so groady which saved me a trip to the store. Anyway, the visit, tests, meds and prescription only cost 70. That kind of blew me away, over at Neel's they charged me 80 bucks for blood work by itself. Long story short I highly recommend this place! Read Less

Read Less
