Had our first experience here and was super pleased. The doctor spent a good amount of time with me and my dog and actually listened to my concerns while offering educated advice! I am VERY pleased with my experience and everyone working there was super friendly. My bill was even cheaper than I thought it would be, so that is also nice. I've done all of my annual visits and emergency visits at Nichols Hills Veterinary Clinic for the past 4+ years, and I've never had a single complaint. I am sure bad reviews get deleted but I think it's important to at least post in hopes someone learns from our mistake. We moved to OKC in June of 2016 and quickly needed a vet for our sick Aussie. Not knowing any vets here we randomly choose NH. They have since seen our 3 dogs on a regular basis since our arrival here. Our old Aussie had to be put to sleep there but the other 2 have had their reg well visits at NH with no problems. The issue I have with NH is with thier boarding. We boarded our dogs here at Christmas for 12 days while we went to the Grand Canyon. We had never boarded them before so we were very worried about them and called every other day or so to check on them. They told us they were doing fine. They did say our puppy had gone into heat. Which I am sure is no fun. Our little one also had diarrhea and was given medicine for that. Other than those problems we assumed they were fine. Upon our return we paid them $500.00 for the boarding fee and took home two dirty, filthy dogs covered in dog crap! They both had dog crap all over them! My mini Aussie had dog crap matted thoughout her coat! It was nasty! I am sure that the Aussie was not petted much as any one who touched her would have felt the matted dog crap all over her. It's a catch 22 isn't it?! Either they petted her and felt the crap and choose NOT to clean her up or she got no pets and they left her with matted poop on her! I cannot believe I paid $500.00 to have my dogs rolled in dog crap and not cleaned. If a bath charge was an issue they could have called us and we would have immediately ok'd the bath charge or even paid by C.C over the phone. We did arrive back a day early. I am left to wonder if they planned on doing a quick bath the day we returned. Even if that is the case how awful was it for our dogs to be left covered in poop?! Even if it was only 1 day it was one day too long in our book! We had expected a better quality of care from NH and will not be using them again.Read Less

Nichols Hills Veterinary Clinic has been our canine health provider for 30 years. The staff there has always provided wonderful care for my dogs. All my boys have had health care , grooming and boarding. So grateful for their loving care over the years. Read Less

I have 2 dachshunds and was taking them to a clinic close to my home in Edmond, however the prices were horrendous. We go to Lake Eufaula a lot and a friend there told us about Dr. Voss in Checotah. We took our dogs there and loved him, prices were great but during the winter months we wanted a vet closer to home. Another friend had been talking about Nichols Hills Vet for quite a while and said they loved the vets and the prices were great. We took our dogs in for a problem and were extremely happy. The vet check both of our dogs, gave one of them 2 prescriptions and we got out of there for less than $150. That is probably a third of the price of the vet in Edmond and comparable to the prices in Checotah. Read Less

Seriously there are not enough good things to say about the Doctors and staff at Nichols Hills Vet. When my first vet retired I gave them a try, and wished I had gone there all along. Dr. Johnson and Dr. Robertson treat each animal as if it were there own, and the staff is very caring and easy to work with. I am so happy that my dogs are under their care. Read Less

My dog had a uti- I dropped off the sample at 8am & was told they'd have results in an hour! I called several times to check if they had done the lab work but it wasn't done till the end of the following day & they called when their office was close so I had to wait till they opened the day after the results were given to me to get my dogs medicine. Also after getting her spayed I found several of her nails had been cut to the quick !! Terrible !Read Less

We went here because our old golden had an infection. We obviously dont know much about how much pills cost and what not so we went here and they prescribed our dog antibiotics for $72.Fast forward a couple of weeks and our close friend who came into town took a look at daisy and looked at the prescription they gave us and he was absolutely shocked that this place charged us $72 for an apparently very common cheap antibiotic. He told he vet clinics typically only charge $20 for this.Thus, if you want to get ripped off, come here. These places that rip people off should not exist. Read Less

My family and I have been bringing our beloved pets to NHVC for over 20 years and have received top notch care from all of the staff. I went in for an emergency with my pet this afternoon. He was apparently worse than I thought and while I was there passed away naturally due to the events that led up to this amazing visit. While I was there, the doctor made every possible attempt to save my baby and had the deepest sorrows with myself when they were unsuccessful in reviving him and saving his life. I knew they tried, and my little guy (I'm pretty sure) knew too. Fate just wasn't on our side. But after all was said and done, they didn't charge me at all and comforted me when I needed it most. I'll be animal free for a while due to the effect this had on me personally, but when I decide to get another member of my family, I'll definitely be coming back here. Sheer and utter compassion is what I felt and received, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I cannot say enough how much I appreciate what happened to me today and the care that my pet received at the most dire part of his life. It's hard to lose a family member, but knowing you did everything you could do, and having someone else do the same, makes you feel better as well as when you know your pet knows too. Read Less

We can't sing the praises of NH Vet enough.  They've taken loving care of our family's dogs and cats for decades now, and always done a fabulous job.  They've welcome our new puppies with joy and helped care for older pets with great dignity.  The personalized level of service here, and the friendliness with which they greet pets on each visit is much appreciated. Their boarding is always great, with custom care taken for each pet's needs - and they're always willing to field phone calls about a pet's wellbeing during travels. I was referred to Dr. Bowles. I had a cat that had a previous steroid shot and antibiotics days before for diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation. I wanted him checked due to going out of town because the cat continued to vomit. I informed him it was projectile vomit and unusual. He said it was fine. His exam was feeling his stomach and looking at him. He ran no labs. He gave me a tube of hairball medicine. After the fact, I found out you always check blood sugar and labs if a cat get's a steroid shot. You risk giving the cat diabetes. He never checked on lab, the cat went into DKA and eventually died after being in the ER for 7 days. All he had to do was check a simple blood sugar. This was are beloved cat of 10 years. It was terrible and all avoidable. I blame him and the vet that gave the shot. Absolutely ridiculous! Read Less

Beware. Our experience here was horrible.We had scheduled a grooming and doctor session 2 weeks in advance. I brought my dog in at the appointed time.  The place was chaos. There was no order or sign in. The staff seemed in their own world, not able or willing to acknowledge each customer. Customers were trying to form lines and even when they would get to the front nobody helped them for minutes...or even acknowledged them. Things took forever because their system of running credit cards overlapped with their many faxes...what century are we in? The actual Doctors seemed kind and knowledgeable, but seems completely oblivious to the running of the business part.My dog had yet to be groomed at 4:15 when I had dropped her off at 9 in the morning. I had had an appointment for 2 weeks. When I came in to ask about when my dog would be ready the employees acted put out with me and commented under their breath to relay a message to the groomer. I called them on it and said that I acknowledged that I am a worried mom, but that I had not anticipated this taking 8 hours. They asked me to come back in 30 minutes. I did and had to assert myself to ask twice for my dog.I had asked for a trim and my dog had been sheared. It looked like it had been done in 5 minutes.When we got in the car my dog's eyes were swollen and watery. I assumed it was from cut hairs. As I drove on she manically rubbed her left eye. When I looked at her at the stop light her eye was covered in blood.I pulled over and called another vet who told me to take her home and place a cool wet washcloth on the eye and of swelling and bleeding didn't go down to take her to the emergency room. It is 2 days later and the swelling and watering have dissipated, but the eye is still bothering her.Needless to say we won't be going back. A rushed job cut her eye and her paw to make a scene out of a horror movie. Beware. Read Less

Dr. Johnson is amazing!  When I first moved to OKC it took us a little while to find the best fit.  We knew we found our place when we went to Nichols Hills Vet Clinic.  I have a pug who always seems to have skin allergies or an ear infection.  Dr. Johnson takes the time to answer all my questions, I usually have a list, without making me feel like nuisance.  Once time he called after hours and spoke to me for twenty minutes to reassure me.  We have seen the other vets there too and they are always very thorough and kind.  The ladies at the front desk are always kind and make you feel like they are excited to see your pup.  I am thankful to have found them! I adore Dr. Johnson! I first met him while working for a veterinary specialist in 1997 and it was not long before he was my first choice for providing care to my personal pets. He just has a way with the animals (and their people!) that I have not found elsewhere. His staff has been with him for a long time, which also speaks very well for him. He is also not too proud to refer to a specialist when he believes it would be beneficial for the pet. I cannot give him a high enough recommendation that truly does him justice. Read Less

I would give zero stars if I could. Stay away.  I took my dog in for an evaluation as he had been acting very strangely for days. I gave them a very detailed list of symptoms and what had been going on. They spent maybe 20 minute with him, did blood work, and called and said everything looked good other than he was a bit anemic. Anyone with Google can figure out that anemia is typically a symptom of something else. I asked if maybe we should do x-rays to figure out what was going on. The vet acted like it was totally unnecessary and made no suggestions to come in for additional tests to figure out what was going on. Three days later we were at the emergency vet hospital where they spent 5+ hours trying to figure it out. Turns out he had blood in the sac surrounding his heart.  I believe the nichols hills vet blew off everything I was saying was wrong. Had they listened to what I was saying, they should have realized something was wrong. Had they cared, they would have suggested additional testing after diagnosing anemia. If you care about your animals, take them elsewhere. Read Less

These people love animals. Dr. Johnson does the most thorough exam on a dog that I have ever seen. I also have a rescued ornate box turtle which got pretty mangled by my German Shepard. Dr. Bowles saw her immediately and took excellent care of her. Sometimes the front desk is overwhelmed but that is a busy practice for you. I take my four dogs and my turtle to them exclusively. I have never been so impressed by a veterinary practice. From the time I walked in with my two dogs until the time I left, we were given their undivided attention. Dr. Johnson is the best veterinarian I've ever had, and I will NEVER take my dogs to anyone else. He treated them like they were his own, and that is hard to find in today's busy, money-hungry world. He took his time with their exams, gave them lots of treats during their shots, and loved on them like we do! If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. Their prices are VERY reasonable compared to other practices in town, and they don't try to push unnecessary services down your throat. I couldn't be more pleased! Read Less

I've taken my dogs & cats to Dr. Johnson for several years and find him to be a very caring and honest vet. I've seen him with tears in his eyes when I had to have my longtime pet put down because he didn't want to say goodbye any more than I did. I trust his opinion on any matter concerning animals. I have no reason to go anywhere else since I find wonderful treatment from the staff at Nichols Hills Veterinary Clinic. I don't live in Nichols Hills but I'm treated like I do. Until lately, I have gone to Nichols Hills Vet and purchased various supplies, taken my cats in for whatever they need. But I have now had two ""run-ins"" that have left me very displeased here. First, one of the vets, Bowers, I believe his name was (only saw him once) seemed very harsh and non-caring when I took my dog in and he was extremely frightened with two strange men trying to grab him and the harsh treatment made me put an end to the visit. That was f ew weeks ago. Now, I took a severely injured baby-girl squirrel in this morning and asked if they could help her. She was dragging her back legs, so may have had a broken back, and she was bleeding from her back leg. I asked if they could help her and was coldly told that ""We don't do squirrels."" The other vet, not Bowers, stood right there and looked at me, and did nothing. No offer to even look at her.. No interest whatsoever in even checking her to see if she needed to be relieved of her misery. No compassion whatsoever seen in any of the five faces of the vets or employees. They seemed to have better things to do than take care of an injured animal...Hmmm, what is a vet for? So, I left and took her to Classen View Vet, who immediately took her into their care with sincere interest in the well being of this poor creature and obvious compassion for the injury she suffered. I will never take another animal to Nichols Hills vet. I'll drive all the way to Classen View, or even to Memorial Emergency Care vet before I will ever return to Nichols Hills Vet. SHAME on all of you who did nothing to help this poor animal...or me, since I just spent $125 on just supplies yesterday. I wouldn;t give another dime to you again! Read Less
