I took my dog in for a dental cleaning. They quoted me around $300, which even that seemed high but I went ahead with the cleaning. By the time all was said and done, my bill was $444. They sure like to nickel and dime you for everything and I really get the sense this clinic is in the business for the money and not for genuine love of your pets. I called around to other veterinary clinics to get a quote for a dental cleaning and most were half the price of what Ranchwood charges. In all fairness, they require to see the pet first but I asked for basic quote without extras. Their prices for each individual thing was still way lower than Ranchwood. Time to find a new vet. We have been going to Ranchwood for 8 years now and they love our dogs as much as we do. On November 10th I brought our oldest Sadie in with a broken tail and not able to walk due to severe nerve and spinal damage and dragging her back paws. We left Sadie at Ranchwood for 3 weeks, under the care of Dr McNeil and his team at Ranchwood. Fully prepared to get her back and be confined to a wheelchair well much to our surprise she has made an amazing recovery all in part thanks to the entire team at Ranchwood. I'm new to Oklahoma and didn't have a vet. After reading the Yelp reviews, we decided to give them a try. We took our beagle here, and he saw Dr Waugh. The entire experience was so wonderful. Every person we came in contact with was so kind and caring. Dr Waugh was amazing. She spent so much time listening to our concerns, explaining test results, and examining our dog. This is the ONLY place I trust my sweet fur baby to be examined, treated or groomed! They are the best with emergency situations and work diligently to find the best, most affordable solution that will keep my pet healthy, safe and enjoying life! Dr. Waugh is AMAZING! I have been taking our pets to Ranchwood for our 30 years, but never again will I board my dog there. She is a large dog (60 pounds). We made our reservations two weeks in advance and got all the shots up to date. We were leaving our dog at Ranchwood for over ten days. We brought her bed, blanket and favorite toy as we generally do when leaving her. Upon our return, I went to pick her up.. While checking out, one of the pet attendants, ask me what her bed looked like? I said ,"what do you mean, it should be the one in the kennel." Oh, she said, "the bed didn't fit in the cage she was in." "Cage? what cage?" I then demanded to see. They had kept my dog in a small cage not big enough for her to roll over in for ten days. And to boot, they gave her tranquilizers (for which they charged me for) to keep her doped up in a cage not fit for a large cat. When I ask to speak to Dr. McNeal, they said he was busy, so I asked for him to call me - he never did. This is inhumane treatment. Read Less

Great staff here, very helpful and knowledgable! The facility is nice, has sort of a western rustic feel to it. The addresses are a bit screwed up on the maps, I suggest calling to verify the location. The exam room we were in was clean and they had plenty of information on the walls and computers for us. They were very skilled in calming down our anxious puppy. They also offer boarding which will be very useful for us and our many trips we take. I recommend this place! Read Less

Dr, McNeil has been the best veterinarian we've had for our beagle. She had a suspicious area growing quickly on her foot, and swaim did not get it all, and I took her to Dr. McNeil, and he did not charge me to give a 2nd opinion, and swaim who originally did surgery and did not get it all, wanted to again charge me for another vet office call, and overcharged me not giving me $65.00 they owed me, only put it on a credit, which is ridiculous, since they are the ones that made the mistake. Dr. McNeil did the surgery and then kept Maggie over night until late the next day caring for her and when we picked her up, she was doing great, unlike swaim when they did the surgery, it took Maggie 3 days to come out from under the drugs with rapid heart beat. I brought her back for follow up 2 weeks later, and because she won't stop licking, he's unsure if it's scar tissue and has us coming back in another 2 weeks, no charge for him to look at her again. This is unheard of in times of overcharging and taking advantage of our pets being sick and charging and charging us as I believe Swaim has overcharged, and need to change their name because the actual Dr. Swaim, never did this. I'm just so happy Ted Archibald told us about his friend Dr.McNeil, and we know we can afford yet also know, that our beagle of almost 12 years now, is in great hands. Thank you Dr. McNeil. Price changers.. Wasted 3-4 hours of time over 3 trips trying to figure out how much teeth cleaning and a small growth removal would be. Trip 2 was quoted $242 and made the appointment, then I bring the dog in and its $136 more for preoperative blood work. They said they would go ahead and do the teeth cleaning and growth removal for the $242, but if they gave my dog too much anesthesia and killed her it wouldn't be their fault! 1) If you cant accurately quote teeth cleaning and small growth removal and all necessary procedures, you cant operate on my dog 2) In clinic pre-op blood work doesn't cost $136. Nice enough people, but be prepared for a money guilt trip if you go here. Maybe an honest mistake, but I was quoted $220 elsewhere for the same procedures with pre-op blood work.. Read Less

The staff at Ranchwood are so friendly and genuinely care for you and your pet. I brought in my dog Red, a fairly new member of our family, after he had hurt his paw. I hadn't been to a vet with him yet but knew that based on the reviews, I was going to like this place. I didn't have an appointment and had taken-off work to get him in first thing Monday morning. They were able to see him promptly after the vet arrived and even waived the fee they typically charge for walk-ins. The vet was patient with Red who is young and doesn't like his paws touched. We were in and out quickly and they even followed up a week later to see how he was healing. Highly recommend this place! I will probably still make the drive even if we move from Moore! Read Less

My wife and I are very active in rescue,  and came into contact with Ranchwood as a result of our involvement with a local organization. In January of 2012, I found an injured dog at a gas station in Newcastle.  We took him to Ranchwood,  fearful he had been hit by a car.  Dr McNeal x rayed him,  and we were relieved to find out that he had not been hit by a car,  but horrified to learn that someone had sprayed him with buckshot. From head to tail,  the poor little guy's x-rays told the story,  and most of the damage seemed to be centered around the "armpit" area of his left chest region,  and he wasn't moving his left foreleg. After a couple of weeks of monitoring and attempting to keep him calm (approximately as difficult as stabbing an aldente spaghetti noodle into a tree) he made no attempt to move his left front leg,  so back to see Dr Rick we went. Due to the damage he had suffered to the muscles,  bones and nerves in his leg,  the only option was a full amputation,  from the shoulder blade out.  (may as well neuter him while he's out,  too!) the surgery went very well,  and though we had no idea of how to care for a special needs pet,  we figured it out with the help of Pete the trainer,  Dr Rick and the staff at Ranchwood. Believe it or not,  Brutus (that's his name) actually LOVES going to the vet! He gets incredible treatment at Ranchwood,  and they treat him as they do every other animal who goes there: like a star. The staff understands that a pet is a family member,  and treats them as such. They not only know you by name,  they know your pet by name,  and and very thorough in their explanations of treatment,  aftercare,  and follow up. I give this vet NO star. Not even 1/2 of one. Worst vet in Oklahoma. Mooooonnnnneeeeyyyyy HUNGRY! They dont care about your pets, just care about how much your pets can rack them up MONEY! I took my dog in for ears somewhat starting to bother him.. meaning a scratch to the ear, or a shaking of the head about every other week. By the time the first visit was over, the bill was over $175.00. Fine, I got him cheacked out and starting on some ear drops for a no longer of a bother, and happy, healthy puppy. WRONG!!!! NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER, THE EAR DROPS MADE HIS EARS A MILLON TRILLON TIMES WORST!!!!! HE WAS SCRATCHING NON-STOP SO HARD HIS EARS STARTED BLLEEDING, HE WAS NON-STOP SHAKING HIS EARS, AND NOW, SCOOTING ACOSS THE CARPET RUBBING AND DIGGING HIS EARS INTO THE FLOOR!!!! AND WHINNING! I called the vet and stated the ear drops are making his ears worst, they said bring him in asap! I did an hour later. After sitting in an empty (not one other customer in the office at time) exam room for 2 and half or longer wait, they came in put some gel (another med) in his ears, and stated they needed to check him out in another week. Okay, thats fine. Then, I simply thought they were calling me up to the front desk to get a re-check scheduled, WRONG... THEY WERE FORKING ME OVER ANOTHER BILL FOR OVER $115 BUCKS! I WAS LIKE, EXCUSE ME!??? I WAS JUST IN HERE LESS THEN A WEEK AGO, DONT I GET A DISCOUNT FOR YOU MI-DIAGNOSED MY PUPPY AND MAKING THE PROBLEM WORST INSTEAD OF BETTER? THE LADY JUST SAID, OH WE DID.. IT WAS $10. I AM LIKE ONLY $10!!!!! WHAT THE HECK!? I NEED TO TALK TO A MANAGER, ETC. THE HEAD DOCTOR - DR. PLUS, I TOO HAD TO GATHER MY DOG UP TWICE, AND TAKE TWO HALF DAYS FOR THIS ONE PROBLEM, I SHOULDNT BE PENALIZED EITHER. LONG STORY SHORT, HE WAS BEENING A JERK.. TELLING ME I NEED TO FIND A NEW VET (FINE, I WAS ALREADY THINKING IT), AND HE FELT GREAT RIPPING ME OFF THAT LAST $100 BUCKS. WHAT A SENSELESS HUMAN, AND HE'S SUPPOST TO BE IN THE BUISNESS FOR HELPING.. YEAH RIGHT, HELPING HIS POCKETS GET BIGGER. THEY LOVE TAGGING YOU FOR EVERY DOLLAR. Best vet ever!!! I'm so thankful to Dr. McNeal and the staff at Ranchwood. I took my cat to three other vets for GI issues but none of them helped us. Dr. McNeal diagnosed my cat with a rare metabolic disorder. It's very easy to treat but if left untreated my cat would not have lived a very long life. I'm happy to say that our kitty is happy and healthy now! We also have two dogs which we've boarded there. This by far the best veterinary clinic in the Metro. Doctor McNeil has always taken his time explaining everything to us and give us all the information so we could make informed decisions about our pets healthcare plans. His staff is also wonderful and has been so helpful with everything I’ve ever needed. I love that you can call after hours if you have an emergency. The boarding is also great! I respectfully could not disagree with Lilly28 more. The people at Ranchwood were the most wonderful people one could ever wish for during the most devastating time in my life. At my wits end, I called Ranchwood at 6 am and they could not have been more helpful. They met me at the hospital shortly thereafter to help me try to save my beloved family member. Thoughout the last three months of my Samuel's life, they literally did everything humanly possible to help him and me. Ultimately, we lost the battle, but it certainly wasn't due to a lack of willingness to fight. The loss of family is a trying time for even the strongest person and I am a loss for words on exactly how these wonderful people helped me through it. I promise if I ever decide to take in another family member in, the folks at Ranchwood will be the ONLY medical professionals that will ever treat him/her while I am in Oklahoma City. This is THE BEST vet in town. I met Dr. McNeal last month after having to put my 15 year old dog to sleep. This was very painful for me, but he made me feel really good about the decision that was inevitable. I have since taken my two other dogs to see him and he and his staff are the most friendly and caring folks that anyone could ask for. This is the first review that I have ever posted, but I was compelled to do so because they really do treat me and my girls like family. Oh, and he showed me his facility and the whole thing runs on solar power. REALLY COOL. Ranchwood is, by far, the best veterinary hospital in the OKC metro. Dr. McNeal and Dr. Maness are excellent veterinarians and all around people to deal with. Both of them know so much about veterinary medicine and really do care about your pets as if they were their own. Anyone who complains about cost must not realize that for the level of care their pets receive and the number of employees Ranchwood has, they are cheap! (Not to mention, they are a BUSINESS and must make money to pay their employees and stay open! And as a business it is obvious why they cannot take in strays and perform free medical procedures. It hurts to see an animal in need and not being able to help, trust me, Ranchwood's staff feel the same way when they have to tell you no.)
