On behalf of myself and my friend, I want to commend the staff at SAHO. Dr Strathe has always been my vet, but yesterday I went with a friend for end of life care for her elderly dog and it was a Sunday and he was not available. Dr Jessica Metcalf and her assistant (I'm blanking on her name - tall and wears glasses) could not have been more compassionate or kind. Even when you have been through it multiple times, it's never easy to let go. Dr Metcalf took the time to establish a rapport and assure us it was the right decision after reviewing what was going on (we knew that, but for some reason every time it helps to hear a vet confirm it). We hadn't brought any blankets, but they took care of it and led us to a private grief room where we could sit on comfy couches and made a bed of blankets on the floor for her pet, and gave him Valium beforehand so he was sedated during the process. Afterward, we were asked if we had had enough time with him before we left and at no point felt rushed. We then exited from a back way so we didn't have to parade through the lobby while we were crying. The staff brought us bottles of water without our even asking and Kleenex. Gold standard for compassionate vet care. Also, I would like to say I have brought in my cats for care as well as gone with my friend when she has had issues, and the veterinary care has been exemplary. The facility is clean and beautiful, although that matters less to me than the veterinarians who so far I have observed are all wonderful. I believe we also saw Dr Walsh and Dr Kelly, two other awesome vets, and I have taken my animals to Dr Strathe for over 15 years, so I obviously am partial to him, but I have seen through going there with my friend and in emergencies the rest of the staff is knowledgeable and caring as well. If someone could please thank Dr Metcalf for both her compassionate manner and professionalism yesterday, I would appreciate it! It meant so much. Please thank the vet tech on duty with her as well and the front office staff for anticipating we would need the water and tissues. We have used this clinic for our pets for years and just love them. The new facility is awesome and we have no compunction leaving our fur-babies there for the duration of a trip or just teeth cleaning. At first only wanted to see the vet that we originally started with but have really enjoyed meeting the other vets. When a vet gets down on the floor to hold and comfort your distressed puppy then we feel we are at the right place. Read Less

I've never dealt with a veterinarian and doggy spa/daycare that cared for my pets as much as I do. When we had to send one of my dogs to doggy heaven the staff were so gentle, loving and genuinely kind. It was a personal experience tailored to our family's needs and wishes. I've also used their groomers and am very pleased - one of my two remaining dogs is an ass and the groomers were so good with he. He was t traumatized like I thought he might be, he came home happy and quite dapper. Very pleased! Won't go anywhere else!!! Read Less

Dr. Kelly is amazing....he worked miracles on my dog dobby. The front desk ladies are amazing and caring, the nurses in the back are amazing, and loved my dog just as much as I did. Dobby got in a dog fight and almost lost his life and his leg, and dr. Kelly saved him and his leg. You guys are the best. 2016 was a rough year for our family losing two babies (Sonboy 10/17/16 and Maggie 11/10/16) within a month apart. Dr. Hendricks and staff were so kind when we arrived after hours in October with Sonboy because he had taken a major turn for the worse due to cancer. There was no limit set for how long we could stay with him. In fact, when we decided to leave after his passing, the staff still asked if we were sure we were ready to leave. I can't thank you guys enough for showing love towards our babies and us. Read Less

I have had a wonderful experience at SAHO with Dr. Hendrix and Dr. Kelley over the past few weeks. We came from another facility for a second opinion about a hip surgery. All conservative treatments were tried and a decision was made to move to surgery, which will be later this week. I have had both doctors call to check on my dog and I have called a couple of times and been able to speak to either of them or have had my call returned the same day. The staff is wonderful to my doggy baby and they have been so kind and helpful with my kid babies too! Always offering snacks or drinks and there's a great kids area for them to play. At this point, I cannot say enough good for how much they have loved on my dog and have helped us with the difficult decision of surgery. I have never felt rushed with either doctor and have had all of my questions answered and care explained thoroughly. I took one of my corgis (Momo) in there for a second opinion regarding this health last Monday. Sadly he passed away Thursday morning. I had called Friday to schedule for my other corgi to get a bath and shots. While on the phone I let them know about Momo. I received a call from Dr. Hendricks who we saw Monday night and she talked to me for a good while regarding him and today I received a sympathy card signed by numerous SAHO employees. I can't say enough good things about everyone there. They genuinely care and love the animals they encounter. Read Less

The first time I went here was to put one of my older schnauzers down. They were so kind and passionate and made my dog and I feel at home during the process. A month later one of my other older dogs got sick. Doctor Kelly is the best vet. He is like superman to my husband and I. He worked so hard to save sparky he cared about sparky as much as we did. He gave extra care and love to my animal. I ended of losing sparky in the battle but doctor Kelly made sparky last few months the best and most comfortable they could ever be. In the end doctor Kelly put down sparky with my husband and I there. It was amazing because we had no appointment and he was so busy. He still took the time to put down sparky him self instead of letting assistant or another vet do it . Doctor Kelly thank you so much for all you do. I wanted to write this for the past 8 months but couldn't bring my self to do it. We love you so much doctor Kelly and are thankful for all you do!!Read Less

I went two this place twice. The second visit was because my puppy was occasionally favoring their left leg. I was worried so they were able to squeeze me in. I was very upset about the whole process. The vet try to convince me that my puppy needed knee surgery and that if she wasn't better to call him back in two weeks. The vet ran no x-rays and only after questioning him did he grab my dog and proceeded to try to convince me her knee was popping out of the socket. I went home and began to watch YouTube videos from vets that told me how to check my dogs legs. The only time my dog has any reaction was when I messed with her foot. After a week of her resting I noticed that she still would occassionally favor the one leg. I examined her again and there was no reaction to any kind of pressure that I applied or movement of her joints. I then examined her nails and noticed one was cracked on the very leg giving her trouble. I cut the nail and after that she no longer has any trouble with her leg. I paid the vet at the time to cut her nails and it was never mentioned that she had a crack nail. I read articles online that said a crack nail could result in a dog favoring one leg. I am glad that my dog is ok but very upset because the vet would have done a knee surgery on my dog even though it wasn't required. This place doesn't care one bit about the health or wellbeing of the animals just making a profit to cover their fancy knew building. I hope people avoid this place and research any medical recommendations online before trusting their opinion.Read Less

Definitely not pleased with the level of communication that I received from the office manager at small animal hospital. We paid for a puppy package and unfortunately due to circumstances out of our hands we were only able to get one part of it done. I called back because we have a new puppy that needed vaccines and asked if we could just put that towards the puppy package on Friday and the girl said the office manager would have to give me a call back Monday morning because she was out, but they don't see why that would be an issue. I didn't hear back from her today, so I called up there around 1:00 and asked if there were any notes. I spoke with Pam who told me that due to the circumstances, they would go ahead and credit what I paid to the puppy package and I'd pay the rest tomorrow when I brought the puppy in for her first appointment. We set up the appointment for tomorrow evening. Then, I get a call just a few minutes ago from Pam saying that they actually wouldn't be able to make that part of the puppy package deal that they gave, instead they'd have to charge as if it was a one time visit and it would only leave a 20.00 credit and then I'd have to pay for the puppy package. She said that she had to talk to her director and her director wouldn't allow it since it had been almost a year. I was confused and told her that she never mentioned having to run it by her director and wasn't sure why she didn't explain that to begin with rather than tell me it would be credited towards the puppy package I originally paid for and then all I'd owe is the remaining balance of 118.00. Instead it would be a lot more. Poor customer service in my opinion. If that was the case, instead of saying that was fine and making an appointment and telling me how much it would be, she could have told me from the beginning she would need to clear it with her director. Cancelled our appointment and made an appointment with another local vet who is about 50% cheaper and has better ratings and reviews anyway. I understand that it was almost a year and a different animal, but I feel that it should have been said upfront that she would need to ok this with her director before telling me it would be fine and making an appointment for us, while acting like it was no big deal.Read Less

Dr Strathe has always been my vet, but yesterday I went with a friend for end of life care for her elderly dog and it was a Sunday and he was not available. I have had a wonderful experience at SAHO with Dr. Hendrix and Dr. Kelley over the past few weeks. We came from another facility for a second opinion about a hip surgery. All conservative treatments were tried and a decision was made to move to surgery, which will be later this week. I have had both doctors call to check on my dog and I have called a couple of times and been able to speak to either of them or have had my call returned the same day. The staff is wonderful to my doggy baby and they have been so kind and helpful with my kid babies too! Always offering snacks or drinks and there's a great kids area for them to play. I was very upset about the whole process. The vet try to convince me that my puppy needed knee surgery and that if she wasn't better to call him back in two weeks.
