If you want to have you pet chopped up for no reason, this is the place to go! They have the technology to use passive treatment, but would prefer to use more expensive life threatening procedures. Ultrasound and x-rays are not the first choice, they choose to do surgery on an animal with a heart murmur and could have killed him by putting him under anesthesia. There was no triage or assessment. I am glad that I'm a human with a voice. I'm also glad that I pay attention to my pets. If you have millions of dollars to have worthless treatments done to your pet, go here. I do not recommend taking an animal here, ever. This place might as well be a kill shelter. The receptionist is the absolute worst. She is rude, uncaring, flat, and unobserveat. I would recommend driving to another state for emergency treatment for your pet. Read Less

I I called this place before I came and told them I needed to see someone and what would the cost be. Receptionist told me $95 so I drove from Claremore to the clinic in Tulsa. I was taken right to a treatment room and asked to fill out paperwork. The assistant told me that the veterinary was doing a procedure and it would be a minute. 45 minutes later I asked how much longer it might be. I was told it was going to be a while that the veterinary was in surgery. The difference between doing a procedure and it'll only be a minute is much different than doing surgery and going to be a while. If you have a real emergency don't go here.! They probably can't cover you if anyone else has come in before you. I would suggest to them to avoid generalities and tell you the truth. That was two hours of my life I'll never get back. Needless to say I won't go there again. The other emergency vet clinic is much further away but I still would have spent less time going there. Read Less

This is the worst place I have EVER had to take my sweet fur baby.. they didn't do a dang thing for my baby kitty Koshka after she was attacked by 2 dogs. After paying almost $2000 we finally got her to Woodland West Animal Hospital Dr.Yagley did what "these" people at Emergency Animal Center couldnt do but said they did. She ended up needing 2 surgeries after already having 1 done by Animal Emergency Center that was the biggest mess i have ever witnessed!!! All they want is $$$ they dont care about your furbabys like you would expect a place like this should!!! And when me and my wife complained to the director he told my wife basically she was an idiot!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!!!! I really wish I could show you pictures of what they did to her but I don't know how to upload here!!! I would have put a -10 star review that's how bad this place is!!! This is an update for the response you gave me. I don't know where you got the information I had brought any of my pets besides Koshka because this was my first time ever stepping foot in your establishment and 2nd no my fiance was never given such information because we would have followed threw with it for sure!!! 3rd Koshka had 1 surgery with this place Dr.Yeagly performed the other 2!! I have pictures I will gladly provide what y'all did and what Dr.Yeagly did!! Read Less

I read some of the reviews as I was in the exam room waiting, and I’ll be honest, I had reservations after reading the negatives. I know everyone’s experience is different, but after my dog undergoing treatment and follow up, I have zero complaints. Dr. Chad Powers was my dog’s vet, and he did very thorough, good, and compassionate work. I took Rylie, my 7 yo mini-schnauzer in one evening last week after she had been attacked by a German Sheppard, and they took care of her, gave her drains, stitches, antibiotics, and pain meds—and gave me very clear instructions for after care and answered all of my questions. I would absolutely recommend AEC to anyone. I had to leave her there overnight for surgery, and they told me I could call for updates if I couldn’t sleep, which I thought was a very nice gesture and showed that they understand how much we love our furry family members. As far as price, I’d gladly pay $585 for my dog to be alive and well taken care of... not that I had it in my bank account, but that’s my own personal finance issue to sort out haha Some folks have taken issue with the cost of services here, but I suppose it’s all about perspective and different cases. I’m satisfied with this circumstance. I will also add that all follow up removal of drains, stitches, etc have been free of charge and I was able to get in and out very quickly. Read Less

I should have written a review as soon as I had my experience here so I apologize. My beautiful cat, Gandalf, became extremely ill. Around six pm about 2.5 years ago, he lost control of his bladder, I could only see his third eyelid and he was extremely lathergic. I was hysterical. I brought him to this business and they were super compassionate and professional. The cost was a little high but a human emergency room costs more. "Pets are a luxury, not a necessity". That's what we were told in school when we visited your practice. You didn't address this statement with my husband, maybe you will with me. Furthermore you state that a loving pet owner donated on our pets bills. We didn't solicit ourselves in the lobby asking for help, we were told by your front desk employee that we would need roughly $500 before your Dr. would do anything with our loved one. We had exactly half of that and pleaded for an arrangement of some sort, and then were taken into a side room. Thank you to whoever that couple was, I know in the good of there heart they thought they were helping save my boys life. But furthermore, What did that payment cover? We didn't receive a bill stating all services that had been performed, just a receipt with numbers on it. You see how this would leave your patients confused? Don't try to shame your patients. Its a bad look. After all you are a BUSINESS. Veterinary medical care is expensive, like we see in human medicine your right! But you can go to a hospital, and they can NOT refuse service to you because the expense is beyond your abilities that day. Its unfortunate that not everybody has the means to handle unexpected cost, but if you can that's great! And with all do respect to your employees and Drs, I understand that is an extremely difficult field to be in. Seeing pain and suffering everyday, one can only imagine. So to the employees who were genuine and kind with us thank you, But from a BUSINESS standpoint there is a lot that can be learned from situations like this. If YOU have any comments or concerns, Please don't hesitate to contact US. After all you have our information, it would be easier than us looking for an email address to contact you. Remember folks, this is a BUSINESS to them. I brought my baby boy in there on critical condition after being struck by a vehicle, and he some how was walking. They took him to the back as I cried doing paperwork. And before they would even touch my baby boy, they had to secure payment from me. My dog is literally dying, and you won't lift a finger for what? A payment that you wouldn't work with me on. You allowed him to suffer on your table with no treatment. I know what you could have done, I have family in the vet community. It's a shame. Your a shame. 5 years with a companion and he was taken from me in 5 mins because of your selfishness. But, in the end you are a BUSINESS, you thrive on the rich, and let the poor die. So thank you, for absolutely nothing. You did nothing. Actions speak louder than words, and your actions shows where you stand as a Vet practice. To quote one of your employees, "Pets are a luxury, not a necessity". Benefit of the doubt being given here, I really hope they were just busy at the time of the call, or have a strict policy about giving information over the phone... I called tonight because my small dog had ingested a flea pill meant for my large dog and was uncertain if he could overdose and if I should bring him in or what to do... After waiting on hold I was told I needed to call animal poison control and given the number for that. Upon calling this animal poison control number it's 49$ To talk to anyone about anything. Wow. So I found another 24 hour vet in the area, also waited on hold and given an answer to my question and what to watch for in this case.... Again... I don't work here have no idea what their policy is, if the vets were busy in surgery. Who knows also not a vet.. but I wasn't impressed with a phone number for a 49$ hotline for a what seemed a simple question about a well known product and a possible accidental overdose. Read Less

I took my 2 year old cat here after she I found her having difficulty breathing. She was in very bad shape and I agreed to the $84 exam fee.  This included no treatment. They took my cat and I had barely started the paperwork when they came back and said she was doing very poorly and it would be at least $300 more for blood work and X-rays.   That also included no treatment, and is much higher than my normal vet, but of course they were closed.  We discussed her prognosis and current state and after much thought (and many tears) I opted to end her suffering and put her to sleep. The staff was very kind and nice, but they were sometimes hard to find.  I arrived at 8:15pm on a Tuesday night.  I had to open the door and yell to the back when another pet came in in distress. I told the staff I wanted to be with my cat when she was put down, as this was normal to me due to past experiences of myself and family.  They did agree to waive the exam fee which I greatly appreciated.  They rang me up for $110 to euthanize her.  I was shocked!!  I paid $34 at my vet for my 16 year old cat 2 years ago (and myself, my husband and child were right there with him till the end) They said the reason the price was so high was because they had to hook up an IV (???) because I wanted to be present.  I'm sorry, this seems like a crock.  I have been with my pets until their final breaths my whole life and it has always just been a shot.  They told me the price was $55 if I let them euthanize my cat without me there.  I think this is an awful thing to do to someone who is already making a heart-wrenching decision. It also took them an incredible amount of time to put her to sleep.  I decided at 8:45pm to let her go, and did not walk out the door until 10:30pm.  They put another dog to sleep first who came in while I was waiting for them to euthanize mine, and those people were gone about 20 minutes before we were done.  It was agonizing.  Again, the staff is nice and very kind. I have no fault with them other than them being a little hard to find.  I do however think some of their prices are way too high, emergency vet or not.  Take the info from my experience and form your own opinion. I have mixed opinions about this place. I take in rescues and have taken 2 cats here over several years, both have died, and a third one died while I was one the phone with them. The first one had cancer, the doctor and staff were quite good, I did a year of chemo and 3 surgeries, unfortunately nothing worked and after spending over $12k over a 12 month period with no progress they euthanized her at the end when she was too ill to continue treatment. I paid my bill every time in full. My 2nd was a worse experience, my otherwise healthy cat unexpectedly woke up unable to breathe foaming at the mouth, I rushed him in, they gave him meds, put him in an oxygen chamber in the back and told me to go ahead and go to work because he was breathing again and seemed to be improving. I asked several times if I should stay because I didn't want to leave him, they assured me that I should go and if anything happened they would call me right away. I went to work, didn't hear anything all day, finally called about 2pm and they said he had passed away and they were sorry no one called me. I was so upset, he died with strangers probably terrified bc i wasnt there. I went to pick his body up and paid the $2k bill. I understand they did not forsee that happening but I wish someone would have called me so I could have rushed there and said goodbye. My 3rd experience was recently with another cat, when I woke up one morning to her having a seizure and dying, I called to ask them if I could bring her in and pay them the next day since that was my payday and I didn't have enough money in the back at that moment. I offered a post dated check, or for them to keep my cat or any other collateral until i paid the next day. 24 hours was all i needed. They said no, I must pay in full at the time of treatment or they wouldn't see her. I told them that I had records there showing always paying my bill in full and on time, giving over $15k to them over the last 3 years, the docs knew me by name and i had what i thought was a great relationship with them. Through tears i begged them to please help me. The woman scoffed over the phone saying "$15k is nothing, many people pay way more than that and don't ask for special treatment" and was incredibly dismissive. I understand they can't make an exception for everyone but she could have been kinder telling me that in a highly emotional and painful moment. I hung up the phone and sobbed while my cat died in my arms. I will not be taking anymore of my animals here. Read Less

This place is worthless unless you have a lot of money to pay for their overpriced services. They have zero compassion for animals. My dog was hit by a car at 3am, and my husband brought him here because he was crying and unable to walk. He paid the $85 up front for the tech to tell him that our dog's back or pelvis was possibly broken. He was told they needed to run some further tests, do an xray, and give him a pain shot, all of which needed to be paid for up front. My husband went outside to call me, and the tech followed him out because God forbid they are left with an injured animal that will need to be disposed of. Upon hearing that we couldn't afford the cost, my husband and the dog were sent home, and the dog spent the night crying and unable to move until we could get ahold of a vet at 7am. Never again. I am very disgusted by certain comments on here... "All they care about is money" "My dog died because that do not know what they are doing". Let's get something straight, it costs THEM to take care of YOUR animal... I went in with a dog who had eaten an insane amount of chocolate and needed to be helped. They were completely helpful and explained all the charges BEFORE services were done. Sure, it was expensive, but that is the price we pay for having animals. And they are very helpful when it comes to working with you about money. They offer CareCredit which is helpful for people with not very much money at the time (i.e. me). This place is the best in 24/7 emergency medicine and will do everything that can for your animal. Just try and be a little more understanding and compassionate.Read Less

Cat was sick and I called to see if it was something that could wait until morning. Miranda answered the phone, was helpful and patient and consulted the doctor twice after asking questions of his condition. I was impressed with the integrity they have to be able to tell me that it could wait. I'm grateful they didn't exploit my concerns for their financial gain and because of it I'm much less hesitant to take my cat there when he really needs it. I saw my vet the next morning, got some meds and he's well. I hope I never need their services again but if I need an emergency vet I know where to go. Read Less

We want to give a special shout out to Dr. Chad Powers at AEC. We wasted 3 days and several hundred dollars at Good Sheppard in B.A. and came away with no idea as to why our dachshund was in extreme distress. It took Dr. Powers about 10 minutes to conclude that our little guy's distress was due to an issue in his back. We subsequently went to Tulsa Veterinary Associates two days later because we had an appt with the highly regarded Dr. Kunzweiller, but Dr. Powers put our fears to rest with the right diagnosis and treatment to help us get to the next step. By the way, Dr. K confirmed Dr. Powers diagnosis with the back and our best friend is doing much better! Thanks Chad! We greatly appreciate everything you did! Read Less

I read the reviews for this place and with only 3 reviews and 2 of them were negative, I was a little worried. Being from out of town, there wasn't a lot of places that I could trust with my beloved canine, best friend, baby. During our travels, my chihuahua developed an anal gland problem that got infected. So I needed to get her checked right away. We found this place online. So we drove to it being it was close. The first thing I noticed when we pulled up is that they were busy. There was only 2 parking spots left. Then I noticed the signs from the Better Business Bureau. The waiting room was filled and the receptionist, Jackie, was running around taking care of everyone that came in. She did inform us that it was going to be a long wait and looked at my dog and said that she wasn't a Vet, but that it's something she would need to be seen for. So I told her I would wait and she calmly put her hand on my shoulder and thanked me. I immediately felt the positive energy from her and the empathy in her voice that began to calm me down from reading the negative reviews. Jackie had me fill out forms and I told her I was from San Diego. She immediately struck up a conversation with me about my hometown, which was awesome because I was really worried about my dog. I did notice Jackie was hospitable with everyone that came in. Jackie is a ROCKSTAR! She even gave me some points of interest here in Tulsa. The Vet Assistant finally came out to check on Blu while we were waiting in the lobby. I didn't get her name but she was a beautiful brunette with just an equally beautiful personality. She was nice and empathetic and looked at my dog as if she was her owner. She then said she would come back with a treatment plan. At that point, Jackie, finally had room available and placed us in the room. The Vet, Dr. Chad Powers came to look at my dog and also confirmed that it was an infection and what he needed to do. The brunette came back with the treatment plan and they took my dog and said that she would be ready in about an hour. She told us to go and get something to eat and not to worry. So we did and of course I was worried and could not eat much. We did go back after we ate, and just waited in the lobby until My dog was ready. They finally brought her out with her medications and told me what I needed to do. The best part(not the best, but just as good) was the price. Being an emergency animal clinic, I expected it to cost a small fortune however it cost me what I would pay for a months worth in gas for my car.  I definitely had a great experience here and they cared for my best friend. I couldn't of ask for anything else. Read Less

Read Less

This is a wonderful facility, with very concerned and caring employees.  Obviously an emergency hospital isn't where you want to be with your pet, but if the need arises, I highly recommend their care.  I appreciate everything they did for my cat, who unfortunately was so sick that she couldn't be saved.  But I don't doubt for a minute that she wasn't getting the best care in Tulsa while she was there.  Great place, great people. My Bull Terrier had surgery at Emergency Animal Center a week ago today. She had a belly full of fabric and plastic and was in a lot of pain and distress. I want to say THANK YOU to Dr. Powers and the staff that helped care for my dog. She is recovering great. I hope I never have to go through this again but if I did I wouldnt hesitate to bring her back. The staff was respectful of my financial boundaries and we worked together to find a way to make it work. I took my dog home sooner than they suggested due to financial restrictions and Dr. Powers equipped me with the knowledge and medication to take care of her at home. He also told me that if there were any issues I was concerned with, i could bring her back and he would evaluate her at no additional fee. Very caring staff! Read Less

Read Less

This place is great for an emergency vet.  They are open 24-7 365 days a week. No appointments are necessary. In addition, they have some of the best equipment in the practice.
