Our cat fell today and he was limping. I wanted to make sure nothing was broken and get something for his discomfort as you can't give cats anything human. When I spoke to the receptionist she seemed very nice. I explained the situation and told her I palpitated him with no discomfort. His gums were pink and his inner eye was not up. I have a little bit of experience with cats. I won't get into that. She came back on the phone saying the vet wanted us to go to a fancy emergency clinic because of the possibility of surgery. I asked her couldn't the vet make that determination once we were in the office and she said no you need to go to the other place. It's like what our money is not good enough for you. I have no idea if this veterinarian clinic is any good as we weren't able to see them but I thought it was very rude of the vet to dismissed us especially on a Sunday when so few clinics are open and I simply did not have the money to go to an emergency clinic as much as I love my pet. I found another clinic that was excellent and much cheaper than this one so they actually did us a favor. He was simply bruised nothing broken no internal injuries. He just cannot fly, trying to get that through his head though is going to be quite a feat. Read Less

I strongly encourage you to do your homework on this place before taking your pet there. I also STRONGLY encourage you to do your homework on their so called "wellness plans" that they try to sell you at every moment. They overstate their prices for services (I compared same services with other local reputable vets and they were about 4 times higher) so as to sell you these wellness plans that they tout as a cost-saving measure to cover everything. Guess what? They don't cover everything. Need your pet spayed/neutered? Anesthesia isn't covered. Protective cone on their head isn't covered. Lots of stuff is not covered. Oh your dog died? Sorry that does NOT get you out of the plan, you must still pay in full. Also, these plans claim "unlimited office visits" but if you miss an appointment they will charge you the amount of a normal office visit. The wellness plan agreement states you can cancel for any reason within 4 business days of enrollment. PLEASE NOTE: Banfield considers Saturday and Sunday business days so if you enrolled on Saturday the 4th day is Tuesday. Everywhere else on the planet "business days" mean Monday - Friday. Can you believe this? Shenanigans. Here's another gem - the agreement states "In some cases limited staffing may require Provider to refer Member to an alternate Banfield Pet Hospital or to another veterinary facility..." Let that sink in - ANOTHER VETERINARY FACILITY! See exclusion (c) below. EXCLUSIONS: The following items and services are not included in this agreement: (a) Services and/or products purchased from Petsmart (b) Services, including office visits and consultations, rendered by specialists to whom the pet is referred by Provider (c) Services at any institution, clinic or hospital other than Banfield Pet Hospital. Do your homework! Also, I ponder the notion that a new graduate from veterinary school strives to work in a Mars candy company owned, corporate vet clinic environment that is Banfield. If all this sounds good to you, by all means, take your pet there, enroll in their wellness plan, give them lots of your money, and hope your dog survives the length of the agreement! WOWZA! Took my dog in for a checkup due to a lame leg today. I had a coupon for a free first visit, which they honored. The veterinarian was Dr. McQueen, and she was very helpful and informative. I did not feel like they were pushing me to buy services, since I said I would pay for x-rays and they said we should wait a week to see if they are needed instead of just paying for the expensive x-rays prematurely. I received some pain medication for $17, and that was all I paid for. The visit took an hour, but I felt McQueen and the staff really tried to inform me and figure out the problem. Would definitely take my dog again, especially since regular visits are only $35! We were paying $54 per visit with the VCA clinics. Read Less
