While I was happy with the actual veterinary care at Heritage, I was disappointed with the service, the organization, and the price. As a first-time dog owner, I came to Heritage hoping to learn what I needed to know. The vet charged me a bunch of money, gave me some meds, and sent me on my way. The receptionist mentioned that I needed to come back once a month to pick up some kind of preventative care for my dog. I returned, monthly, to get his medicine, and assumed he was covered. WRONG. My vet NEVER prescribed/asked about a flea and tick medicine for my pup! Forgive me if I'm wrong but dogs need to be on a flea and tick med! I have had more than 5 appointments with the vet in addition to the monthly pick-ups of what I now know is his heartworm, but never been asked to put him on a flea and tick. Additionally, when I got my guy neutered, I had to call to confirm the appointment and ask if there were any pre-op instructions! If I hadn't, I wouldn't have known that he couldn't eat the morning of. No reminder was sent out or called to me, and no one provided any pre-op instructions verbally or in writing until I took the initiative and called. Similarly, after his neuter, they sent me home with NOTHING. I had no instructions, so I asked for some. I got most of my information from the receptionist since no one else was around to talk to. Again, I only got any information at all because I asked. Not that I had a problem with it, but I'm a first time dog owner, in general I'm fairly ignorant about the things my pup needs. Additionally, they sent my puppy home without a cone! When I called to ask why he didn't get one, they stated I could have bought one if I wanted. BUT I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS SUPPOSED TO. I just assumed my vet would let me know the things I was supposed to do with my pup. Finally, as the last straw, this vet charged more for a neuter than most other neutering services I've seen. $220 for neutering a 35 pound pup. Maybe that's normal, but it hasn't been compared to most places I've looked at. Looking for a new vet now. Read Less
