The prices are what you'd expect from a pet store (more expensive than Amazon). The store itself is nice, although the products on the shelf are place kinda haphazard and a lot of things didn't have price tags on them.
The live animals to buy don't seem to have the best cage setups but that's most pet stores.
I really only go here just to get there frozen rats which they have a large number available in all sizes

They have a great selection and good prices but fully half of my customer service interactions have been bad enough that I now only buy the dogs' flea shampoo here or other random care items if there's an immediate need. My bulldog has very strict dietary requirements because of food allergies and periodontal disease: I called to make sure her food was in stock as I was running behind that day and needed to get into work. They assured me it was in stock. It was not. So the associate tried to sell me foods she couldn't have and was not helpful tracking her food down at another store location. Now I just order online or go to PetPro on memorial.

I was greatly disappointed in my visit. The shelves were all next to empty, 1 item of each thing was there. There was one employee working the counter, he was hollering for help, the other Workers were in the back. One finally comes running to the front and throws keys to the guy, misses and almost hits the elderly person in the line. The employees just said sorry as they acted as though this was normal. I walked the entire store and was never spoken to by one worker. I left and used the Web.

Yesterday I asked the folks at the store located at 2616 S. Harvard for some help with a little dog my wife found wandering the streets. I have never been more impressed with the tremendous response and help I received there. These people should be given the opportunity to show others how to be helpful and kind. Thanks for all the help and great suggestions on how to help the puppy return home. ( which was happily done last night too!)

Astonished that Southern Ag would sell us a bird that someone forfeited to them. I was happy to pay the $200 fee but not happy to learn this bird has a host of issues. First and foremost it is vicious and lunges at people in the house to bite their face. When we entered the store and asked about birds, a girl lead us to a closed hallway in the back where loads of animals were lined up in little cages. I had hoped to rehabilitate the quaker but too much damage has been done by his former owners. Of course, my calls to corporate go unattended.. I simply asked for a store credit for the bird.not the cages, food and toys. I am furious that they blatantly pawned off a bird on us that needs a wealth of help. It wasn't fair to the bird or my family. SHAME ON YOU. YOU LOST A VERY LOYAL CUSTOMER!

I had the worst experience at the 71st and Sheridan location on 9/15/14 My mother and I were shopping in the dog toy aisles when we stepped in dog poop. My mother slid and had to catch herself on a shelf. Now as disgusting as that was the treatment from the manager was worse. We told him there was poop on the floor and he said we always have poop on the floor!! We asked for a cleaning spray to clean off our shoes. And he told us they do not use cleaning products to clean the store. They only use a mop with water!! After calling and talking to Joe Gross he told me it's not his responsibility to make sure poop is cleaned up timely and we are out of luck with getting our shoes replaced. The shoes are less than 6 months old and are ruined. I'm disappointed a family owned company doesn't put customer safety before profits. I will be shopping at their competitors and ordering online directly from the manufacturers from now on.

My mother slid and had to catch herself on a shelf. Now as disgusting as that was the treatment from the manager was worse. We told him there was poop on the floor and he said we always have poop on the floor!! We asked for a cleaning spray to clean off our shoes. And he told us they do not use cleaning products to clean the store. They only use a mop with water!! After calling and talking to Joe Gross he told me it's not his responsibility to make sure poop is cleaned up timely and we are out of luck with getting our shoes replaced. The shoes are less than 6 months old and are ruined. I'm disappointed a family owned company doesn't put customer safety before profits. I will be shopping at their competitors and ordering online directly from the manufacturers from now on.
