BEWARE! I took my yorkie to the Banfield Clinic in Yukon, OK for a Bordetella shot. All her vaccines were up to date except the Bordetella. While there the staff informed me that I should get my very small yorkie a shot for the RESPIRATORY air borne virus that is highly contagious in dogs. I debated as I hate to subject my small dog, 3 pounds 8 ounces, to a lot of things at once. I reluctantly agreed thinking two shots would not be bad. Since it is an AIRBORNE RESPIRATORY thing and we live in windy Oklahoma. I trusted them, less than 24 hours later my dog began to sniffle, was congested, and it only got worse. She began to loose her appetite, and I call back to PetsMart and made another apt, but decided after talking to others to take her for another opinion at a different vet.. I did just that....TURNS OUT THE SHOT "LEPTOSPIROSIS" IS NOT FOR A RESPIRATORY ANYTHING! IT IS FOR A URINE TYPE OF BACTERIA....AND IT IS VERY HARD ON THE IMMUNE SYSTEMS OF ANIMALS. My dog that lives with me in the house, not outside on a farm, that does not have contact with hardly any other dogs, did not need this shot! I now have a sick yorkie, and very upset that I was given invalid information. The staff did not know what they were doing. Bottom line. I have been a Banfield customer in other stores and had good experiences, but will no longer take my chances or more specifically my dogs. The only reason I had my dog get the Bordetella shot was the groomer required it. The only reason my dog is sick, is because of this shot. Bottom line....there was no interaction from other dogs, nothing, just the shot. I got bad information and my dog did not need this shot....not sure they even gave her the correct dosage since they didn't know what they were actually giving her was not for a respiratory virus. I have informed Banfield Corporation of the mistake so they can make sure there is more training for these staff members so another dog does not get sick.Read Less
