Took my 2 poms to Banefield 5-11-18. One of my girls, Sugar suddenly developed a mass on her chest. They were due heartworm renewal in 2 months so I had the vet go ahead and draw blood for the heartworm test since we were there. Told the vet Sugar was gnawing her paws and would sit down in the middle of our daily walks and make me carry her to the car. She said the gnawing was allergies and gave her a very painful shot and completely disregarded the lethargy. The mass came back as a fatty tumor. So her body was having trouble processing fat. Another symptom! No further testing was done even though they had a blood sample right there. Thursday morning 6-7-18 I came home from work and Sugar was having trouble walking and was disorientated and frightened. I took her back into Banfield where a vet drew blood and did several tests. She came and told me "Your dog is in liver failure." I was alarmed and said "Are you telling me she has weeks or months to live? What are you saying?" She seemed uncomfortable by my alarm and did not answer. She "prescribed" Denamarin. $62 & of course sell, sell Royal Canin, a $45 dollar bag of hepatic food. The Denamarin is OTC and cost $30 online and Sugar had no appetite. In passing the vet said "I could refer you for an ultra sound." Not you need to go now and get an ultrasound your dog is in trouble. I was under the impression the medicine was to treat the elevated enzymes. If I had been properly advised I would have gone directly to the hospital! Thurs & Fri I forced that poor dog to swallow that huge pill which I will regret for the rest of my life. On Sat Banfield gave me a fake "We really care about your pet" follow up call to see how Sugar was doing. Told that woman she was worse and I tried to get advice on what to do next. She kept putting me on hold, the vet couldn't be bothered to come to the phone I was not given any further advice. My poor girl was so thirsty that she would lay her head on the edge of her water bowl and drink until she vomited. She couldn't stand. I kept waiting for the Denamarin to kick in. Sunday I was so alarmed by her condition I called Banefield and left an urgent message on the machine that she was in trouble and I needed advice. Found out later they are closed on Sundays. You think they check their machine for emergencies? Sun went to work and when I came home at 1am Monday morning was laying on the floor by Sugar holding a towel under her chin to catch the vomit when she moved her bowels and it was blood. I then took her then to an acute care hospital. They ran tests all day. They told me her liver enzymes were not elevated but her kidneys were in trouble and there was fluid in her lungs. She was gasping for breath and was in an oxygen tent. Finally from an ultra sound they found stones in her gall bladder and said one of the stones may have blocked a bile duct and caused a rupture and her tummy was full of black, thick bile that was so infected their machine couldn't even read it. They said I needed to make a decision about a surgery so I left work and went to see her. She was limp and her pupils were fixed and dilated and she was gasping for breath. I had already paid 2 thousand dollars for all the testing and that's fine I have no problem paying for medical care for my animals but when this greedy corporate hack said "For 8 thousand more I can do an exploratory surgery." I was appalled. I looked her in the eyes and said "Do you actually think this dog can survive a surgery?!!" Then this awful person said "Well a lot of people want us to do everything we can for their pet." Humans have a hard time surviving peritonitis and I couldn't believe anyone who cares about animals and not dollars would put this poor little dog through a surgery. Her Majesty Sugar Cane was euthanized 6-11-2018 at 6:15 pm one month after seeing a Banfield vet and and 5 days after seeing another Banfield vet. RIP. The hospital contacted Banfield for Sugar's record first thing Monday morning and my agonizing message was on their machine Banfield never contacted me to check on her. GREED Read Less

My cat had ring worms and it has gotten bad after 10 days. My first time at banfield and my last. I was seen on 10-8-16 The vet didnt give anything but wipes (she was going to give a cream but did not have it and would not let me pick it up from another banfield, nor would she pick it up) which spread it and made it worse. After 3 days of wipes i was told to stop using them. Than for 4 days of no meds when there was a cream that the vet could of picked up at another bandfield she just let my cat get worse in this time my cat is now scraching flesh off and it was one tiny spot on his head and is now two big spots above his eyes and in front of his ear and on his cheek. Than, after I complain enough does she talk about ordering a medication that will take 7 to 10 bus days when she could of just gave me the same meds but in liquid form that was in her office.... And after complaining about wanting the antifungal cream enough was I "allowed" to pick it up at a different banfield (btw, on the 16th I was told I had to order a medication for my cat and it was wait 6-10bus or have it rushed for $25, requested it rushed and after giving my card info over the phone i thought I was going to recv med on mondays, come to find out who took my card info just wrote it down wrong and it got declined, my bank has plenty for the bill and I even have another card to place it on but he never told me it Declined so for 3days I'm thinking I am going to get my cat meds in the mail... (monday, i was told the card did not go threw and that i can get the cream and oral medicines but that she may need to see my cat bc he might now need antibiotics)So for 10days my cat got worse and she wanted to wait another 10days bc of a medication she preferred when the medicine in her office she told me was just as strong... In my second vet visit (10-18-16) she would not touch my cat, would not weigh him when the assistant asked(said to put 5.1pounds down (my cat is 3 years old) "its been 10days sense she seen my cat") barley even glanced at him. Already had when she was going to say down and gave me the spill when i just walked in. "Give time for the medicine to kick in"( bc after complaining everyday for them to give me something to give my cat which was getting worse everyday, even scratching fleah off of his forehead i got med the day before this visit) she said that for it to get pretty bad in a short amount of time is normal (knowing damn well how bad it can spread, and bad it can get she "wanted" to wait 7-10 business days for some other med that is just as strong as the one she had in the office). I even asked her if she knew the meds she wanted to order was to take 7-10bus days and she said yes... Just an over all bad experience, will never see me again. THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. I signed my dog up for the puppy plan which includes a neuter. At the time that he was supposed to be getting the neuter, they told me that his testicles never dropped so they must be twisted in his abdomen. So we scheduled surgery, which again was not included in the puppy plan (ALMOST NOTHING IS INCLUDED FOR ANYONE LOOKING INTO IT). The vet told me this would be a quick 7 minute surgery and he would be feeling like himself again the next day. I dropped him off in the morning and had not heard from them all day to see how he was so I called on my lunch break to check on him. The dr was STILL in surgery!!! What was supposed to be a 7 minute easy surgery they assured me turned into a 3-4 hour exploratory surgery where they removed everything from his abdomen looking for his testicles and then put it all back in. The vet did this without ever consenting with me on anything. This caused my dog to get a major septic infection that made him so ill he could not walk by himself for DAYS! This also meant we were required to purchase antibiotics for his infection ($150 worth) that was also NOT covered on the puppy plan. When I called to speak to the vet and the regional supervisor they told me they did not owe me a refund and that they know this is about the money because I must be struggling. A LOW BLOW FOR THEIR UNPROFESSIONAL WORK. Then told me to take him to another vet and see if they can find his testicles and if they do and remove them successfully, they will consider a refund but very unlikely. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO COMPASSION, AND UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I called several vets around the area and they said in their years and years of working in this field they have never heard or seen of an animal not having testicles and it must be because this vet is so inexperienced. Now I have to wait a year because of the scar tissue from his surgery to get my dog neutered and pay even more in vet fees. I WANT TO WARN EVERYONE ABOUT BANFIELD IN YUKON BECAUSE THEY ALMOST KILLED MY DOG AND THEN DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT!!!! Read Less

I took my cat here for two years. She's extremely timid, and they were gentle with her. The techs and receptionists are very kind.  However, while I was waiting for them in the exam room after they examined my cat, I could hear my vet and the vet student with her mocking my decisions in the care of my cat. Do I think they would hurt any animal? Absolutely not. Was my trust in them undermined? Yes. I will not be going back. Read Less

BEWARE! I took my yorkie to the Banfield Clinic in Yukon, OK for a Bordetella shot. All her vaccines were up to date except the Bordetella. While there the staff informed me that I should get my very small yorkie a shot for the RESPIRATORY air borne virus that is highly contagious in dogs. I debated as I hate to subject my small dog, 3 pounds 8 ounces, to a lot of things at once. I reluctantly agreed thinking two shots would not be bad. Since it is an AIRBORNE RESPIRATORY thing and we live in windy Oklahoma. I trusted them, less than 24 hours later my dog began to sniffle, was congested, and it only got worse. She began to loose her appetite, and I call back to PetsMart and made another apt, but decided after talking to others to take her for another opinion at a different vet.. I did just that....TURNS OUT THE SHOT "LEPTOSPIROSIS" IS NOT FOR A RESPIRATORY ANYTHING! IT IS FOR A URINE TYPE OF BACTERIA....AND IT IS VERY HARD ON THE IMMUNE SYSTEMS OF ANIMALS. My dog that lives with me in the house, not outside on a farm, that does not have contact with hardly any other dogs, did not need this shot! I now have a sick yorkie, and very upset that I was given invalid information. The staff did not know what they were doing. Bottom line. I have been a Banfield customer in other stores and had good experiences, but will no longer take my chances or more specifically my dogs. The only reason I had my dog get the Bordetella shot was the groomer required it. The only reason my dog is sick, is because of this shot. Bottom line....there was no interaction from other dogs, nothing, just the shot. I got bad information and my dog did not need this shot....not sure they even gave her the correct dosage since they didn't know what they were actually giving her was not for a respiratory virus. I have informed Banfield Corporation of the mistake so they can make sure there is more training for these staff members so another dog does not get sick.Read Less

This is a typical corporate run facility. They try HARD to sell you on their "wellness plans" for pets where you pay upfront fees that are pretty hefty so that you can bring your pets in whenever you like. I have two healthy pets that only need to see the vet about once a year for their checkups. I decided to take my dog here because I needed vaccinations quickly for a grooming appointment. We did our normal yearly exam and vaccinations and went on our way. When I needed to purchase heart worm medication about a month later I realized that they had not done a heart worm test on my dog. This test should ALWAYS included in a yearly visit as far as I am concerned. They knew I would have to bring my pet back in to pay yet ANOTHER exam fee simply to do the heart worm test so that I could purchase medication. This is trickery and I won't tolerate it. I recommend that everyone see a local veterinarian where you can establish a true relationship. This place is a joke. Read Less

Read Less

They always take great care of my rabbit. I am always able to get her right in without an appointment to get her nails clipped.
