I first met Dr. Glaze and the Albany Animal Hospital staff when I started fostering a dog from SafeHaven. We were in their office every two weeks for several months trying to find a diagnosis and treatment. We quickly transferred our other dog's care to his office, even though it meant a 30 minute drive every time we needed to go to the vet. They are worth the drive!! Our foster dog had an autoimmune disorder that was very hard to treat and Dr. Glaze did everything he could to help her get better. He always explains everything really well and makes sure all of my questions are answered. He is extremely knowledgeable and intelligent, patient, caring, and compassionate. You can tell he really loves animals. Most recently, we brought our dog in and she was having really odd symptoms and progressively got worse. I felt so much better knowing she was in his hands. He was very thorough checking for anything that could be causing her symptoms and explaining everything to us. I brought her home today and she is back to her normal self already. All of the vet techs are amazing! They call and check on our dogs after they've been seen. They are patient and answer all of my questions, return my calls quickly, show my animals so much love, and are always so friendly. They are all so knowledgeable and caring. I couldn't ask for a better vet office. I highly recommend them!! I've convinced two coworkers to transfer their pets to the clinic and they couldn't be happier!! Read Less

I was initially very pleased with Albany Animal Hospital. Their facilities appeared clean, the office staff was friendly and they arranged a timely appointment to see my dog. However, I can't ignore two issues that ruined my experience with this business: They make no apologies or even try to hide the fact that they're in business to make money. I understand that they're a business, but they're shameless. I took my dog in to have him checked for a growth on his ear, but the vet found it more important to try to sell me their special dog harnesses, as well as to shame me for not knowing what certain doggy illnesses were currently going around. By the time I left the initial visit, my bill was three times what I'd originally expected it to be. The worst part, however, was after my dog's procedure. He was sent home without an E. collar and when I got him home, he of course started scratching his wound. I called the vet and they told me to come on down and they'd give me a collar. When I arrived, I was promptly charged for the collar. I went ahead and paid for it, but I really think they could have offered it originally or at least included that price in my estimate. What kind of vet doesn't put an E collar on an animal after surgery? I've never been sent home without a collar on any of my pets. Overall, the vibe was just one of any other business who wants to make money. I didn't feel a lot of concern for my dog or for my satisfaction. Disappointing. Read Less

After much research on different veterinarians in town, I settled on Albany Animal Hospital. Now, I had heard nor read anything about Dr. Glaze and everything about Dr. Fletcher. I am left wondering why. Dr. Glaze is absolutely wonderful. We went in for a consult, as we are new in town, and wanted to get into a local vet. She had no health issues at the time, other than her neurotic paw licking. He brought in a microscope and let us look at the active yeast cells likely causing her habitual licking. He was even honest with us and told us there weren't enough cells to start on any meds and recommended a home remedy instead. Wow. In  addition, he discussed some of the local concerns for pets here, which are VERY different from Florida. Brought light to some precautions in the area. Again, an absolute wonderful vet. Now about a month after my initial visit....My pug gets an eye infection. As she recurrently does. Except this time it's bad and continued to come back, even after two 10 day antibiotic cycles. Her eye infections have always cleared up after one 7-10 cycle, so I was extremely concerned. I called the vet and made an "urgent care" appt (love the convenience of that and totally worth $17!) and requested to see Dr. Glaze. He quickly found the root of  the problem, which I won't get into, but he is super knowledgeable and informing during the process. He was confident in his dx and prescriptions, which I started that night. They worked, almost immediately, and she is doing so much better!!! Now as knowledgeable as he is, he also recognizes when a specialist is needed. He mentioned if the medicine prescribed didn't work he would need to refer us to an eye specialist. Happy that wasn't the case! So, all in all, I have been very happy with our decision and love Dr. Glaze! Oh, and so does Penni Pooh :) Read Less

Our cat, Pepper, who we adopted from the local humane society had mega colon at the time of adoption and we have struggled to find a vet who will either a) give us an affordable price for care (which she requires quite a bit of -- enemas every few months, anal gland expression, regular blood work etc) and b) is an honest doctor who gives her the best care and treats us with respect.  When our regular veterinarian, Joey Goldthorpe at Willamette Veterinary Hospital (also a god send) was not available to treat her for an extremely swollen anal gland (to the point where she was not able to make a b/m) we were in a panic to find another doctor.  We have seen many doctors, including others at Willamette who did not impress us at all.  We have been charged exorbitant amounts that are completely ridiculous for two college students to pay and it has made us weary of vets everywhere.  All that changed when we made an appointment with Dr. Glaze. My roommate and I were terrified as we drove to the clinic, picturing absurdly large numbers and terrifying conditions that we wouldn't be able to afford and what would happen if that were to happen.  All our worries were soothed as soon as we were lead to our exam room where we met Dr.Glaze and his assistant (I didn't catch his name but he was a young man with short hair and very good with our Pepper!).  We never for even a moment felt pressured, or like we were being cheated.  Dr. Glaze was extremely gentle with Pepper (who usually hates virtually all people she doesn't know well to be quite so handsy with her) and she took to him immediately, giving me an amazing feeling about him from the get go.He considered our financial troubles and how best to treat the very swollen gland and came up with an excellent plan of care that was very much in our price range.  He was very patient with us and answered all of our questions before he presented an invoice with all prices listed and the total (with a high end and a low end) so we had a range of what would be expected to pay.  We looked it over, signed the documents necessary and left her with them for about 1.5 hours.  When we returned, she was certainly sedated, but very much more comfortable.  We were even spared $20 off the original $160 estimate and were so very grateful.  Dr. Glaze is an honest doctor who exhibits compassion for both his patients and the pet parents, seeking to help all parties involved.  He is a truly amazing doctor and we are certainly planning on returning for all future vet care.Once the treatment was complete, he sat down with us and explained how it had gone in just enough detail but never speaking down to us, and let us know that she may be at the cusp of stage two kidney disease.  While my first reaction was to panic, he again soothed my nerves by letting me know that I should keep doing what I was already doing and that we would come in for bloodwork in about six months.  Previously visiting a clinic where they did an extensive senior blood panel  (which he referred to as the "Rolls Royce" of blood panels!) he advised us that it would be nowhere near as expensive and he would focus specifically on the kidneys.Do yourself a favor if you wish to have an honest doctor who will help both you and your beloved pet, and go to see Dr. Glaze!  He is a remarkable and wonderful doctor! My family has been going to Dr. Fletcher since he opened up shop in the mid-1990s. He and his staff have gone above and beyond for our family's pets and at a reasonable cost. Not to mention the charity work they do for SafeHaven Humane Society and abandoned animals. Our cat, Penny, was diagnosed with both pancreatitis AND fatty liver disease which had opposite treatment plans. Even though our kitty was what you might term "a lost cause" he still stayed up late with her to try to feed and nurse her and reduce her discomfort in her final days. He even brought another kitty of ours (a wimpy thing) back from the dead to be bigger and stronger than ever before. We've taken cats, dogs, ferrets, chinchillas, and rabbits and every time it has been a positive experience; he never over-worries his clients and is very upfront about the seriousness (or non-seriousness) of what is going on with your pet. Also, at no point have we ever felt taken advantage of like we have at some animal hospitals in relation to billing. In the case of the wimpy kitty brought back to life, we had initially taken him to a 24-hour emergency clinic because Dr. Fletcher was not immediately available and the cost of his emergency care (not to mention procedures that Dr. Fletcher deemed unnecessary and even dangerous for the cat in his at the time current health) was more for those 8-12 hours he was there than the whole week or so of care that Albany Animal Hospital wound up providing to him. In short, if you are looking for quality vet care and don't want to have your wallet pinched, I wholeheartedly recommend this facility. Read Less

Read Less
