Dr. Reid and all of the staff made me feel like family from the moment I walked in the door. Everyone took the time to say hello and tell me things about Albany as I’m new to the area. He didn’t recommend things that were unnecessary for my dog, but provided really thorough and caring services during our check-up. Would absolutely recommend.

My daughter's cat was attacked by a large dog, and it was obvious that she needed to be seen as soon as possible. This was around 9am, I called the vet I normally use, and was told that they couldn't ...
My daughter's cat was attacked by a large dog, and it was obvious that she needed to be seen as soon as possible. This was around 9am, I called the vet I normally use, and was told that they couldn't see her until after 3pm. So I called two other veterinarians and one was in surgery, and the other didn't answer. So I called Reid Veterinary Hospital, and they told me to bring the cat right in.
When my daughter and I arrived 20 minutes later , they took us right back and started to examine our cat. After xrays determined that they would have to amputate the front leg due to the extensive damage from the attack. They started to give our cat care to make her comfortable until they could do the surgery the next morning.
All through the process the staff and doctor were very caring, and kept us aware of our cats progress. She ended up spending two nights and three days in their wonderful care. They gave us an estimated cost of the services, a low and high cost, and I was thinking that I would be charged on the higher rate, but I was very surprised and happy with the cost for all the care coming in at the lower side of the estimate.
Our cat is healing and adjusting to getting around on three legs, and my daughter is very happy she has her cat. I can't say enough how grateful I am for the care they gave our cat and us during a very stressful event.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful when my cat got sick with no warning. She had to stay for a few days and they called me every day to check in and let me know how things were going. Dr. Reid even took the time to talk with me when I picked her up. He treats both people and animals with respect and was willing to explain the entire process and diagnosis, as well as the steps he took to get there. I couldn't be happier with their service.

The vet techs felt very pushy to me!! I felt like the just wanted me to buy everything they offered for fleas!! The vet did not even talk to me about what would be best for my dog she basically just told me it was her choice and I had no options. Other vets I have delt with in the past really discussed what would be best, what were the pros and cons for each and so on. The vet also told me my dog needed surgery and tried to schedule it for that day. So I took her to another vet for a second opinion and she had ear mites and did not need surgery. Just needed medication to kill the mites no surgery needed. The front staff was very friendly and super helpful though and was really the only positive to the whole visit.

It's on the corner of Queen & Elm, in a half brick building. It has almost a Salon-type feel--it looks like a Salon kind of, & smells like one for sure (maybe there is a Salon upstairs that I didn't know about? Lol)... Anyway, the people were wonderful! Very helpful & friendly. My dog just had puppies, and it was amazing that they had a Reproduction Specialist (Dr. Peterson) there! The visit was half the cost of a lot of other places that would otherwise be mediocre in my opinion. Only $50.00 for the visit, and her treatment was only $17.50, which included antibiotics. Plus most other vets seem to charge an arm & a leg for new animal-patients... This was my dog's first visit--still only half the price ($50.00)! ALSO, the staff there were wonderful on the phone, and wonderful in person--attentive & really seem to genuinely care about the animals & people they help!

It is generally a great place, but upon my last visit a beast nurse named Hellga was awful to my two kittens. She picked them up by their scruff and violently slammed them down into the table, not even considering how their legs were postitioned. While switching them to their other side for a shot she was so mean, it was as though she was flipping a freaking pancake! And finally, she clipped their toenails without my consent, and pinned them down in her armpit with their limbs smash in her armpit! Overall it's a great place I will continue to go there, but I will never let that women near my cats or dog as long I will live!!! Beware of Hellga!

I take both my cat and dog here. I started coming to Reid when I moved to Albany 3 years ago and even though I now live out of town I travel in just to come here. I love the fact that I can usually get an appointment with 48 hours if needed, are always willing to work around my busy schedule, and that I never feel rushed when with the doctor. I have two high maintenance animals and am in at least every other month and have never had a bad experience. My dog loves everyone at Reid and is happy to go in whenever we have to.

We started taking our 2 Poms and 3 Cats to Reid in 2006. My wife and I were a little apprehensive and annoyed about their rates. Yes they were high.
To that I say "So What?"
Our pets have received the absolute BEST care possible there. My wife and I had to put one of our kitties down a couple of years ago and they treated us with RESPECT and DIGNITY.
A Vet the takes GREAT care of animals AND their owners........That is a Vet I can recommend to everyone. Reid Vet Hospital IS more expensive, but it is worth EVERY penny.

My daughter's cat was attacked by a large dog, and it was obvious that she needed to be seen as soon as possible. This was around 9am, I called the vet I normally use, and was told that they couldn't see her until after 3pm. So I called two other veterinarians and one was in surgery, and the other didn't answer. So I called Reid Veterinary Hospital, and they told me to bring the cat right in.

The vet did not even talk to me about what would be best for my dog she basically just told me it was her choice and I had no options. It has almost a Salon-type feel--it looks like a Salon kind of, & smells like one for sure (maybe there is a Salon upstairs that I didn't know about? Lol)... Anyway, the people were wonderful! Very helpful & friendly. My dog just had puppies, and it was amazing that they had a Reproduction Specialist (Dr. Peterson) there! It is generally a great place, but upon my last visit a beast nurse named Hellga was awful to my two kittens. She picked them up by their scruff and violently slammed them down into the table, not even considering how their legs were postitioned.
