Three months ago we brought our 7 year old Boxer here due to an extremely swollen face. Prior to treating our dog, we had to pay the estimated amount for treatment and were told we may have to pay more depending on what needed to be done. We thought he had an abscess that would be drained but after aspirating the area and looking under the slide, Dr. Gordon informed us that he had "really bad cells". Along with the xray taken, which showed a mass in front of his heart, she felt that from her personal experience with her dog, he had oral melanoma. She told us to just make him comfortable and feed him whatever we wanted because it was an extremely fast spreading cancer so we might as well just let him live his last days doing whatever made him happy. We were devastated and due to finances, chose not to have the aspirate tested at a lab or pursue treatment. We trusted that as a vet, she knew what she was diagnosing. We left heartbroken from the news we had just received and was told we would get a call in a few days to check on our dog. We were not offered any type of medicine for the lymph node swelling he had, nor was it recommended to follow up with our own vet, Reid Veterinary. The visit to River's Edge cost us $700 and a misdiagnosis. I called the office the following day to ask that records be sent to our vet and was told they would. However, after requests from myself as well as Reid, records were never sent. I had to go to their office and get copies. My recommendation would be to avoid taking your pet here if you can. I understand emergency care is costly, but don't feel that patients should prepay for services. Be prepared to pay up front before your pet is even seen, have services added on, possibly a misdiagnosis(depending on which doctor you see), and no follow up from their office. Others I know had similar experiences and had I known this, I would have sought emergency care somewhere else. After seeing our vet and having his lymph node aspirated again (our vet was very suspicious of the diagnosis we received), we found out that our Boxer has T Cell Lymphoma which is an aggressive cancer but thanks to a change in diet as well as a regimen of CBD oil, he's still going strong, three months after our visit to River's Edge. To this day, I have yet to receive a call to see how my dog is doing. Read Less
