Dr Thompson is an amazing vet. He saved my kitty's life and I am forever grateful. I trust him 100% He does not order un-necessary tests like some vets will. If he says we need a test or bloodwork, I do not even think twice about it because I know it's true. I have been to other vets who have taken advantage of that, and I can honestly say Dr Thompson never has. He weighs the options, and sometimes says lets just wait and see before testing... and he is usually always right! He is also very clear on price before anything is done. Will never take my dog here again. My dog has never barked at anybody he's met until the vet walked into the room. My dog started growling & barking, standing by my daughter & I like he was protecting us. The vet tried to tell me how to "train" our dog (like I've never had a dog before). Everything he told us to do was mean & negative, totally opposite of the positive training/obedience class we were participating in. But when he kept telling my dog that he was a "bad dog" and that we needed to thump him across the nose because of his barking then I knew we were at the wrong place. I am not hitting my dog, not going to be mean to my dog, and definitely not using the negative behavior that was suggested to train my dog. I was impressed with this vet practice from the moment I first took my dog in. The staff were kind and friendly. The vet was great. He went into so much detail about my animals health and gave great advice. Not once did I feel hurried, nor felt like I was being talked down too. One of my dog loves the vet. She loves the treats and extra attention that the staff showered on her. But my other dog becomes a neurotic mess whenever I even come close to the vet office. They were very kind and gentle with her and encouraged me to be right with her the whole time. There was never any pushing or hurrying with her and her nervous nature. She won't even take a treat from them. By the second visit she was taking treats and even wagging her tail a little. It was at this point I knew I'd found the right place. They listen and understand that I know my animals best. Unlike some vet places that take the upper hand and treat me like they know more than I do. I liked that a lot. They made me and my dog feel at ease. So happy with the overall care. They give me lots of options each time. Right down to the type of knee surgery. Both would have worked for my dog and they gave me all the pros and cons of each. They never made me feel awkward if I turned down a treatment or test due to cost. They understand we don't have unlimited money even for our own healthcare let alone our animals. So they give the best treatment in my price range. With blood and urine tests they call you back within a few hours with the results and discuss the outcome over the phone. One of my dogs (the one that loves the vet experience) is getting near the end of her lifespan. When the time comes I know these guys are going to treat her with the love and dignity she deserves. As an extra note to some of the bad reviews I read.... I find it surprising that people are complaining about the clinic wanting all the money from the prescriptions. My personal experience about asking about cheaper alternatives lead me and the receptionist in a discussion of how to get the best prices animal medicines online and making sure it was a recognized place that did not sell counterfeit medicine. They were great at helping me trying to keep my costs down but keeping the care of my animals up. Read Less

I have been bringing my dogs to this clinic for over 15 years. Dr. Thompson, Dr. Davis, staff have always been very professional and friendly. When my Dalmation passed away they treated us with caring and respect. When my current dog hurt her back, Dr. Thompson was able to treat her back injury with chiropractic treatments. This place is beyond excellent. They helped us extensively with our old cat through the end of his life, and were very compassionate and professional. What my mom said! I have had good care here through my pregnancy and afterwards, as well as on many other occasions. I always get lots of treats here. I feel so much better after visiting here. This is a nice, unpretentious but also clean and competent vet. We've been going here since not too long after moving to Aloha 10 years ago. Not only is Dr. Thompson kind and experienced, but also Dr. Davis is wonderful and all our animals (2 cats, 3 dogs plus one dog now at Rainbow Bridge) respond well to them. On top of that, vet tech Dawn has been there the whole time as well, and the other techs we have worked with have all been compassionate even with our sometimes "Feisty Fido." They have seen our menagerie through a litter of puppies, spayings, teeth cleanings, recovery from back surgery, an accidental ingestion of human pills, and the final passing of our beloved Sammy. They break out all costs and help you prioritize if you are on a budget. Finally, they have the charming office cat "Squinty." I think he is also about 40 years old! Been coming here for over a year and Dr. Thompson has been wonderful with my 2 dogs and cats. One of my dogs doesn't like people very much and he managed to win her over with lots of treats, making our trips to the vet much easier. I love Dr. Thompson and his staff. I have two dogs and they are always so gentle and loving with them. My minnie aussie used to be aggressive at other vet clinics and they would muzzle him. Dr. Thompson has never had to put a muzzle on Cody. From the very first day, he just walked in and picked him up with no problems. Been taking my pets to Doctor Thompson since 1993. He's been great to work with, his staff is always caring and sensitive. My dogs even like him as much as they've liked any vet. Plus he's got cats to pet -- First Chip and now Squint. Very clean. We just moved to the area and I took my dog in because he has been aggressive and was not letting me touch him. The day of our visit, I was told, "Any dog that bites at his owner should be destroyed." In tears, I left, thinking I would have to put my dog to sleep. He said we could make an appointment and do x-rays to see if there was another option but at that moment, the word "destroyed" had taken over my thoughts. I was devastated. I ended up getting a second opinion with a different vet. My chihuaha has now been on medication for arthritis for 3 weeks and he is a TOTALLY different dog. He hasn't bit at me, he's letting me pet him again, he's happy. The best part, he was not destroyed. My pet is a huge part of my life. In the event he was ill enough to be laid to rest, I think different bedside manners would have went a long way. Read Less

I am a very happy/extremely satisfied  new client. The ENTIRE staff are professional,prompt  and cleary really care for the pets. They didn't try to push products or anything  unnecessary. They only charged me for services provided  unlike my previous vet. Just moved here and was looking for a new vet, I usually use holistic ones but my dog has eye issues and opted for one close by and not as expensive. My Lhasa apso doesn't like most people, especially males. I was nervous about her seeing a male vet, because she has tried to bite male vets in the past. Dr. Thompson was amazing! He won her over with treats, she never growled or tried to bite him. It was by far one of the best vet visits we have had. Dr. Thompson and his staff have been caring for my Welsh corgi for the past three years and have done a phenomenal job!  Their caring, thorough approach to veterinary medicine is only matched my Dr. Thompson's vast knowledge and professionalism.  My 13-year-old corgi has never been better.  They have done several routine procedures, dental cleaning, etc, as well as two surgeries to remove masses; one cancerous, one not.  She made quick recoveries from both procedures and showed very little discomfort.  Additionally, the staff is courteous and accommodating and I have found their prices reasonable after shopping around.  My corgi and I recommend this business without reservation. I started coming here with my cat about 3 years ago.  They are very close to where I live and convenience is very important to me.   I have seen both Dr. Thompson and Dr. Smith~ they are both awesome!  They really take the time to listen and answer my questions.  I've never felt rushed at all.   The vet techs are very friendly too.  They have a really cool office kitty named "Squinty" who is usually wandering around the front or sleeping in the waiting area.  My daughter adores him :)   Are they expensive?  Yes, but aren't they all?   All in all I have been quite pleased with their service and my kitty is healthy and happy. Aloha Animal Medical Center has been my family's choice to take care of our dogs and cats since I was in elementary school. The staff is always so nice, thorough, and compassionate. Our babies always get spoiled with lovin' and treats when they get in, and my parents and I always feel comfortable there. Dr. Thompson always lays out our options and tells us what he would do, but lets us make our decision without pressure. We've had numerous exams, shots, cleanings, even a tumor removal, two surgeries for torn ACLs, back re-alignments, and most recently an abscess cleaning and draining. All of our babies have been treated well and healed beautifully, and their humans were always kept informed, not only how they're doing in the procedures, but how to do aftercare, when to come back in for follow-ups, etc. In short, I HIGHLY recommend AAMC if you want a good and caring staff looking after your pets. A very expensive vet who does not listen to what the owner has to say about the animal. Because, as we all know all animals are the same and can be easily treated with the textbook options. We were forced to put our very large, 160 pound dog on the metal table because the doctor could not bend over to look at his teeth. A 160 pound dog is not very stable 4 feet off the floor on a slippery metal table. And what does one learn from sticking a finger in a dogs ear? I think maybe an ear scope would have seen a little more than a finger could. A vet i would NOT reccomend, as we are currently looking for one who actually cares about my dog and not money. Read Less
