WARNING! Don't be fooled by the prices. The owner of this clinic is a monster. Please read the report below:Mr. Eric M Kennedy has filed a complaint against Companion Pet Clinic of Beaverton, owner Daniel Koller, and veterinarian Dr. Keith Bartholomew. Mr. Kennedy has recently learned Dr. Koller has been reinstated by the Oregon vet board, which is appalling. The Background FactsMr. Kennedy and Ms. Naranjo - former clients of Companion Pet Clinic - were the owners of "Roger", an eight and one-half year-old male Dachshund, their beloved companion pet. On February 20, 2015, Roger was brought into the clinic due to the clients' concerns about his digestive health, and a clinic employee, Dr. Farshid Kiaei, evaluated the dog, took radiographs indicating the presence of a mass of some concern, diagnosed the animal with possible pancreatitis, and prescribed certain medications. Although the condition appeared to subside for a while, around one month later, on March 22, 2015, some of the earlier symptoms returned and on March 26, 2015, Roger was brought back into the clinic for further treatment. On that date, Dr. Keith Bartholomew continued to consider the potential diagnosis of pancreatitis and showed the clients a radiograph indicating a potential blockage of the dog's intestine. On that date, Dr. Koller himself also then examined the dog and agreed to inform the clients what further radiographs might indicate, if anything, about the specific problem. Dr. Koller then assured Mr. Kennedy their was no blockage, telling him "if a dog has a blockage for a month, you have a dead dog. You're dog doesn't have a blockage". Koller continued to assure Mr. Kennedy after the radiographs that he would be called before the Clinic moved forward with any further procedure. Mr. Kennedy again confirmed that no further treatment was to be done until the radiographs were reviewed and Mr. Kennedy was contacted. This agreement was clearly communicated and understood by both parties. Dr. Koller agreed that nothing was to be done until after he had reviewed the radiographs with the clients and all had agreed on a course of treatment.Throughout the afternoon of the 26th, the clients continued to contact the clinic to learn of Roger's condition and the results of the diagnostic tests. Two separate calls were placed to the clinic by Mr. Kennedy to check on Roger's condition and speak with the doctor. Each time Mr. Kennedy was told he would be contacted immediately by the doctor. At around 5 pm, they were then contacted by a veterinary technician for the first time that barium had previously been administered to the dog, a procedure unmentioned to them before and conducted on a dog with a diagnosed obstruction (changed from the original diagnoses of Pancreatitis), all without their knowledge or consent. As a result of the barium being administered, Roger experienced a severe adverse reaction, went through a wrenchingly painful period of severe distress where barium was aspirated into the lungs, and ultimately choked to death on the barium, expiring sometime between 6 and 7 pm that evening. At 7 pm, Dr. Bartholomew contacted the clients to inform them of Roger's death, and agreed to meet them at the clinic later that evening to discuss the matter and view the body. Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Naranjo arrived at the clinic at 7:45 pm and were met by Dr. Bartholomew. Mr. Kennedy was brought into the room where Roger's body was to be viewed. Dr. Bartholomew then surreptitiously triggered a recording device, left the room, and unbeknownst to Mr. Kennedy, then recorded Mr. Kennedy alone in the room while Mr. Kennedy privately grieved over Roger's body. The recording was conducted without Mr. Kennedy's knowledge or consent and illicitly intruded on his personal privacy. The clients confronted Dr. Bartholomew and he told them "it was an accident and he didn't mean to record them." However, the cellular device was propped up and on record, in a position aimed directly at Roger's body in an attempt to capture the private last moments and grieving. While so much more happened after Roger's passing that was completely unexceptable (failure to provide complete and accurate medical records, suspicious necropsy results performed by Koller, and Koller kicking us out of the clinic with Roger's frozen remains), Yelp reviews can only be so long, and I can only share so much heartbreak. You all get the picture.I know all of you love your animals and want the best care for them. I also know that regular vet visits can get really expensive. Don't let price be a factor, it can cost you everything.I know now, vet your vet.Eric Kennedy Read Less
