Dr. Franklin is very knowledgeable and seems to be upfront about everything. I am glad I went to him for help but I wish he would have explained things a little better in the beginning. We were recommended here by our vet to diagnose something that required an ultra sound. He was upfront with a general cost although it ended up being almost $200 more than the estimate. His staff were professional and nice. He ended up recommending us to a surgeon who conducted surgery 2 days later. Overall i would recommend people here. I have talked to a few other people who highly recommend Dr. Franklin so it sounds like he has a reputation in the area for doing good work and i cannot disagree. Our cat is 3 days out of surgery and so far recovering well. On a side note he reminds me of Doc Brown from Back to the Future. Cool guy. Read Less

What a compassionate, innovative, and intelligent person who dedicates his entire life with the the goal of helping animals no matter their state. Dr. Franklin thoroughly looks over every aspect without stressing you out by remaining optimistic and communicative at the same time. Before seeing Dr. Franklin, I saw over 12 vets/specialists who all could not properly diagnose my cat with lymphoma and hyperthyroidism. All of them wanted her to be put down no matter what. I wish I would have known about him sooner. He has received many awards and accomplishments over the years for great reasons. The staff is great and OVSH has reasonable prices compared to others. This was an absolute waste of money and knew I shouldn’t have come here after reading bad reviews. I asked if they did certain procedures for breathing issues and they said yes. When I came they said they don’t and referred me out. I paid 115 bucks to have a 30 min conversation where all they did is we don’t do it and gave me a reference. What a complete rip off! Dr. Franklin is amazing and saved my cat's life. Last year I went to him after specialists at other practices couldn't figure out what was wrong with my little guy but said that all roads led to me putting him down. Outstanding specialty hospital. Dr. Franklin was a kind, honest, and expert veterinarian. I was very surprised at the reasonable prices (more than at a typical vet clinic, but not prohibitively so. Still much cheaper than ER and definitely closer in scale to a vet clinic). When our CKD cat crashed hard, we were referred to Dr. Franklin. Within a few days, we had a much better handle on the situation and had a protocol in place to do our best to help our lil girl recover. Dr. F was quick to adjust depending on how our cat was progressing, calling to follow-up nearly once a day. He clearly explained test results and treatment options and most certainly pushed for the best care (not for the most expensive). In addition, Dr. F's supporting staff was amazingly kind and supportive. Anyone that ends up at a specialty hospital is not having a good time with their pet. His staff was sensitive but professional, giving people the attention they needed promptly but also not rushing clients. I was very glad to work with Dr. F and the team at OVSH. Dr. Franklin is amazing and brilliant..my cat has lymphoma, diabetes, renal failure. every time he checks her bloodwork to decide which chemo agent to use. Fortunately I have Trupanion pet insurance which I highly recommend to anyone with a pet younger than 13 years old...they reimburse me very quickly for the costly expense of the cancer because it was not a preexisting condition. It was well worth the visit because my dog's life was saved. I spoke to my primary veterinary and told him about the charges and he flipped once he heard the price and what he did. I owe Dr. Skinner, I know this but I have been unemployed for almost 2.5 years. He keeps adding like 25% interest to my bill so I must pay it soon. I'm financially insolvent, I have lost my home to a foreclosure but still I will start paying this bill even if it's a little at a time. I am telling you this because this man does not mess around...he tried to take it out of my account (2300.00) but there wasn't even .23 in there. As far as specialized in what I took my doctor in for, he was not versed and did nothing more but charge me about 6x the amount more than just going to my regular vet. Oh well. Read Less
