I would like to start out by saying that this review is rather long, I do hope those in search of a vet will read this and avoid this clinic all together. On Wed evening I noticed my Lady wasn't herself. I began watching her and segregated her from the rest of the group. All our cats are rescues we had taken off the street when they were starving and freezing. Thursday I noticed she hadn't eaten any of her food but was drinking and urinating though she had not had a BM and I knew she needed to see a vet. We are a couple with limited means. I spent the rest of that night (the night I lost my job) researching vets closer to our home that took the care credit and was open on Saturdays. I found this clinic, called and got an appointment for 12:30 PM on Saturday. I would like to say that the ladies at the desk and the tech who saw us were all very nice and caring. Then Dr McNabb walked in. First thing he begins by talking money, about getting us an estimate. He leaves the room without even really looking at Lady. We explained we thought she may have swallowed some thread and he barely checked her mouth and just stopped the second she started being uncooperative. He returns with a quote of $400 for a blood test, an x-ray, one in office subcutaneous fluids and a shot for nausea, "That MAY make her eat." All we were getting was a lot of maybes and no other help because we could not afford more services. My fiance was having second thoughts but we had already agreed to the fluids and the shot and the x-ray. While they were administering fluids to Lady I went outside to smoke a cigarette as I was so stressed out from worrying about Lady and that I had just lost my job. I had explained this to Dr. McNabb through tears of fear for my Lady and the fact that we had no money. Upon returning from my smoke I find My fiance paying the bill and we left. $300 and something dollars later we leave with no instructions on how to get her to eat, no offer of subcutaneous fluids for us to administer at home, nothing. In the car I could tell my guy was pissed and I managed to get him to tell me that while I was out smoking, he had overheard Dr McNabb telling someone out in the reception area that "They don't seem all that concerned about their cat." Mind you he has never seen us before so knows nothing about us. I flat out told him we were of limited means and that I had no job. Because we couldn't pay we were judged as not caring about our sick kitty. Not only did we leave there with a cat that was starving and he did nothing for because we couldn't pay, but we were also insulted behind our backs and spoken about in a negative way in the reception area for all to hear. I'm sorry, we don't make our money by taking advantage of people who will pay anything to save their pets. If you can't pay, you don't care about your pet. If he intends to charge the prices he does maybe he should hold off on the boat payments and maybe soundproof his clinic so he can talk shit about his clients without them hearing or how about we learn to be more professional and not talk about clients to people in the reception area.. I give my thanks to the ladies who helped us but to Dr McNabb I say...Thanks for nothing you arrogant, narcissistic money grubbing (Insert favorite expletive here). How's that for being judgemental? Easy to sit in judgement when you know nothing of the one being judged. Should have avoided this place when I saw only 2 reviews and found out they have been there for over 20 years...This review is not about the money we spent, (Which we ended up having to take her to our regular vet for help as she was STARVING! $180 later we left our vet with a plan of action). It's about the lack of professionalisim and the fact that when he looks at our pets and then us all he see's is dollar signs. Trust me, take your loved one to Stark Street Animal clinic, that's were we go and will never stray again.Read Less
