If I could give a "no star" , I would. They preformed a surgery on my sister's dog. Not only did they not tell them that the surgery had a low success rate for bigger dogs, they did not give written ANY care instructions after the surgery was preformed! What kind of vet clinic does not inform their clients of all the pros and cons and/or how to care for your pet?!?! Due to the lack of after care instructions, they had to take their dog to an emergency vet. Oddly enough, the emergency vet provided more after care instructions that the vet who did the surgery. Santa Clara animal hospital is The Best. Period. Other vets are good, I'm sure of that, but someone has to be the best - and that goes to the staff at Santa Clara. The doctors are as good and caring with people as they are with their patients. Over the years my four legged companions have needed a wide variety of procedures and I've come to trust Dr.s Sean, Carrie, Brittany and Dave completely with their care. Santa Clara Animal hospital is the best vet around Eugene/Springfield. Especially for exotic pets. My son's chinchilla broke his leg in the middle of the night & I took him in when they first opened. They took Cheech in & watched him until the vet could evaluate him. Then they did surgery on him that day. They even stayed after hours to do the surgery & watch cheech. I have been going to this vet for many years. They treated my beloved little girl for many years. Unfortunately on my last visit it was to end her suffering. 15 & 1/2 years of our lives spent together ended but she was very ill with no hope for recovery. Well i came here for my snake, and the main veterinary doctor seemed to be scared of my TINY super DOCILE and FRIENDLY baby snake. She did not seem comfortable at all and kept trying to give him back to me. I was looking away and she grabbed him pretty hard without letting me know which scared me and the snake which was not a smooth experience for him at all. She did not fully open the mouth of my snake to check if he was okay, again she was clearly scared. Someone like this should not be working as a "snake" vet. So we have been taking our Charlie dog to see these wonderful people for 7yrs , he became epileptic w/them they got it under control !!!! He had major knee surgery Dr. Carey did a perfect surgery, he also had neurological disorder and ended up being allergic to prednisone and got calsinosis cutis which is a skin deterioration disease very bad worst case they had ever seen we almost gave in too it and let him go , and They told us not yet take him home he wants to go home . Santa Clara Animal Hospital is seriously the best place to take hamsters. They will do everything they can to help and are very knowledgeable about them. I had to go in 3 times in the past month for my dwarf hamster and today I had to go in for an emergency. Not only did they fix the problem with my hamster, they gave me a complementary vet visit where I only had to pay for the wound care and medicine. Highly recommend taking your small animals here. We had to surrender our fur baby, Sativa when we couldn't afford to cover the thousands for surgery. It was so hard but they made us feel like family and let us sit with her for two hours. I brought my cockatoo here & was VERY happy with this clinic. He had a serious injury & needed to be seen immediately, I called numerous vets & there's not many options for exotic/avian vets apparently. I was thrilled to get an appointment within hours of calling. Our vet was fabulous, our poor 'chickieMagoo' unfortunately needed to be fit with an ecollar & they kept him to supervise him for over 5 hours NO CHARGE to be sure he was properly fitted & treated. I assumed it was going to be expensive with the exam fee & being an emergency appointment for an open wound, collar & 5+ hour stay.... Under $200!!! I am very happy to have found our regular vet for my cockatoo. I might even bring my sphynx cat & dog here as well! Read Less

I took my new Guinea pig here for what looks like ring worm. They had me drop them off to be looked at 'when the vet has time'. (I brought his brother too just to make sure he didn't have it too). Hours later they call me to pick them up. I was told that he looked at them under an ultra violet light and that they didn't see ringworm or mites. Said he didn't know what it was and gave me eye drops to out on his skin. Fast forward a week later, the Guinea pig isn't getting better. They see them again. Same exact thing as before. I was told to put the eye drops on the skin for another 10 days. I ran out 3 days later. (more of it got on me than him). Ive called and left voice mails, 5 days later I still have no call back. My Guinea pig is getting worse and has now even lost his voice! I talked to a friend who's a vet tec and she said that you can't determine ringworm with an ultra violet light and that the treatment is bizzare, that he should have been put in an oral medication for ring worm because that's for sure what he has. Long story short, I'm going to a vet who knows what he's doing with Guinea pigs, because this one clearly does not. (or just doesn't care. Haven't decided which one)Read Less
