From beginning to end, my experience at West Eugene Animal Hospital exceeded my expectations. I brought my young dog in here for an exam of her leg after she was limping for over a week. The veterinarian took x-rays of her and luckily she just needed rest and made a full recovery. I was happy that I was given options and not forced into taking other measures like a ultra sound. I really appreciate that your first visit is free for each pet. Because of this I brought my 9 year old dog in for a check up and an exam of her teeth. I knew three of her teeth needed to be taken out and she needed a teeth cleaning. The veterinarian and the assistant were both very friendly to me and my dog. They were gently and answered all of my questions thoroughly. My dog had never been under anesthesia before so I was nervous but I felt good leaving her in their care. I dropped her off and later received a call that my poor pup needed 20 teeth taken out!! Of course this was alarming to hear but apparently very common in small dogs at this age. I explained to them that I wasn't able to pay for all of the teeth right now and to cap it at a certain amount. When I picked up my dog she was groggy from the anesthesia but she looked great and did very well. I was so impressed with how they treated her and how much they helped me with her teeth. They were able to get the majority out and I can tell she feels so much better now. I do wish the cone to keep her from scratching came complimentary but it was only $13 so no big deal. Thank you so much to everyone at West Eugene Animal Hospital! I truly appreciate how much you helped out my furbaby! Read Less

When I first moved here, my dog received good quality of care. I don't know what's happened, but it's gone to hell. The vet barely glances over the animal, but of course puts in their notes that they checked everything. And then if you call them out on their mistake, they don't accept responsibility. That's the worst. Any person or company can make a mistake, but how that mistake is handled is extremely important and a major fact of acceptable customer service. West Eugene Animal Hospital is United Airlines, and your pets are bumped passengers. Read Less

Dr. Norton is very rude, and to be honest, condescending. The moment she walked in to the room there was just a bad energy about her. I don't know if she was stressed or what, but for the amount people are paying to get their animals seen I expect professionalism. The only saving grace about the entire vet visit was probably the kindness shown by the vet tech. Young lady, clearly you are in the right kind of work and perhaps you can give your Superior a few pointers! ;) The vet also tried to push us to purchase oral flea medication several times after we'd already made it clear our dog has problems stomaching the Nextguard brand they sell. When the vet tech came back in with an itemized list of medications for our dog I AGAIN had to tell them we were NOT interested in purchasing the flea meds. Really annoying when your dog's doctor doesn't listen to a word you say. Also, the front staff too are unprofessional making personal phone calls on the clock. Definitely will be looking elsewhere for a new vet. Read Less

I want to give these folks a better review but recently the service here has been less than stellar. My one cat has cancer and with that we've spent a good deal of time and money. On a couple occasions the time I set up for appointments has been changed without my knowledge. They've also lost my cats chart and left me waiting for an hour and a half, and recently they misdiagnosed my other cat as being pregnant and so told me it was better not to do the spay she was scheduled for. All in all I'm pretty disappointed, I hope they can get things organized again. Read Less

This is my first review, but I felt it necessary to praise the great work that the team at WEAH does.My cat recently had to have three teeth removed. I was very nervous about the process, as she had never had any kind of surgical procedure aside from her spaying prior to my adopting her. The staff was friendly, and very transparent. They happily answered all of the questions that I had. Dr. Seyler was great with her, as were all of the vet techs. When I picked her up, I was provided with clear instructions for home care, and felt that the pricing was fair, and affordable considering the amount of work that she had done. They also gave me a very detailed price break down after the first price consultation. She's home now and resting up. Thank you, WEAH! Read Less

I will start by saying that I am not an easy pet parent. Like most people, my pets are my kids. I have been going to this vet since I had an apartment on City View in 1995. They have always been kind and compassionate, even in the face of my unruly distress! They work hard to get you in if there is an emergency and they take time to discuss issues with you on the phone. Dr. Young has come to our house to help our cat pass in the comfort of his home and arranged for the cremation services. Dr. Larson has called me after hours and patiently answered (probably the same, but phrased differently) questions until I was satisfied I understood. All the staff are wonderful but Hanna is especially warm and empathetic and always tries to be reassuring. I have one cat that was on the verge of death from kidney failure last fall and it was weeks and weeks of back and forth. It was incredibly stressful and I was a wreck. Though they had every reason to be otherwise, they were still patient and caring. For all our sake, I switched to the mobile pet vet for that kitty's care but just this week we discovered our other kitty is now suffering from kidney failure. I didn't hesitate for a minute to take him to West Eugene for his care. I highly recommend this clinic and feel confident that they will do everything possible to take the absolute best care of your fur babies. Read Less

I've never written a review before and I don't like to give a bad review but I must share our experiences with them. My cat was diagnosed with diabetes by Dr. Kelly Norton on 4/5. Result was given by a phone call. When I called back and asked two simple yes/no questions, I was asked to come back to see her. After 45 minutes waiting, Dr. Norton came in and gave answers. We were charged $42.50 for it. When I called and asked a technician to show us how to test blood glucose and give insulin injection, I was told that Dr. Norton would show us. Then we were charged $58.50 saying it was an exam. (We purchased a bottle of Vetsulin insulin, a box of 100 syringes, and a set of meter, and later 100 more test strips from them.) Dr. Norton started with 1 unit Vetsulin insulin on 4/13. Dose was increased to 3 units on 4/20. My cat experienced bouncing on 4/22 and his blood glucose went up sky high, and it stayed high. Then Dr. Norton advised to increase to 5 units in the evening on 4/25. It is very much off from what Vetsulin site says. I had to seek help outside West Eugene Animal Hospital the evening and found that her advice was insane. If a receptionist checked with another doctor as I asked, we may have stayed with them. Assistants or technicians are very nice. Read Less

I have gone to quite a few vets in my time as a pet parent. Never have I had a team of veterinarians and veterinary technicians treat my pets with such care, compassion, and dedication. The whole team understands that they aren't animals, they're my family and they care for my dogs as if they were their own. They put your pet's welfare above everything else. Let me give you a specific example... one of my girls is allergic to just about everything. Before allowing me to put them on the edible flea/tick and heartworm medication, Dr. Larsen called the manufacturer and didn't get off the phone until he had a comprehensive list of ingredients for the meds to make sure it was safe for her to take. Or the time I overreacted over my dog not pooping for three days and rather than be condescending about my needless worry, Dr. Norton looked my dog square in the face and said, "You are so lucky to have a mom that loves you so much." I can't express how comfortable it made me feel, where seconds before I was embarassed and feeling stupid. I send my friends, family, and anyone who asks to them because I am confident they will be well cared for. Read Less

Highly recommend!!! I just had the most pleasant and reassuring experience here. Two days ago I was in tears and feeling manipulated beyond belief at another Vet that made me feel as if I was in car dealership, essentially being told that my cat most likely had cancer, that starting cost were expected at $500 for an initial visit, with their expected worse case scenario being extensively more and Pet Insurance being shoved down my throat like their life depended on it. I've noticed this more and more with vets these days and its been extremely disheartening. The previous vet appointment two days ago retracted a statement that my cat did have signs of an infection and that the course to go would be starting $500 plus cost for exploratory surgery w extensive additional costs after that. The emotional upset and costs could've been astounding and detrimental to my cat.Thank goodness I came to West Eugene Animal Hospital. They are highly efficient. They diagnosed n drained fluid which did show an infection. The relief of the fluid release made a tremendous difference for may cat, I can't comprehend why this wasn't done at the original vet. The staff was kind and this is the first vet that I've felt put treating an animal efficiently and effectively above raking in the profits. I'm walking out of here with a healthy cat, a $69 bill, and a new faith in veterinary care.Thank you  to all the staff at West Eugene for taking such great care of my little guy. Read Less

Read Less
