They give high quality care and all the staff along with Dr. Kennard are great. He's so gentle with animals and doesn't pressure you into getting work done that you don't want or can't afford althought getting the first baseline work done is a good idea. I am not even sure what to say about this vet. As far as the staff, they are warm and welcoming, especially Vicky. As far as the vets themselves, they are nice enough but are only out for your money. My boyfriend and I recently acquired 3 dogs. All were puppies when we brought them into VCA for the first time, so of course we were suckered into the puppy plan. All three of our dogs are currently still on the plan. We were told it would cover their neuters/spays as well as bloodwork, exams, fecal tests, flea and hart worm prevention, etc. My oldest dog ended up having a seizure when he was 4 months old and they switched his flea/heart worm medicine to one that is apparently “not covered under the plan” so we pay for that out of pocket. Not a super big deal. Here is where it gets bad. All three of our pups have been tested for giardia and it came back positive. We have treated them AT LEAST 7 times per the vets advice and to the tune of 70 bucks each time we treat all 3. You do the math. None of my pups have diarrhea or any other reason to be concerned but they still insist on treating them more and more. We finally put our foot down and said no more. Each time we go in they find something new wrong with our dogs and try to get us to by at least three different medicines that of course aren’t included. I finally threw a fit and they don’t do it as much now until today we came in for a nail trim like we have many times. They have never charged us for a nail trim as it has always been included. Well today they tried charging us 80 bucks for two nail trims and for MORE giardia medicine I specifically said I DID NOT WANT. They don’t care about the dogs, they just wanna shake you down for every penny you’ve got. Run away fast from this place and find people who actually care about your animals. Read Less

The vet seemed nice. But I believe they are just after your money. I was tricked into getting the leukemia vaccine for my new kitten, when he isn't even at risk. They're supposed to do a blood test first to see if he's already sick, but they didn't even talk about that. And apparently after doing some research I found that indoor cats are highly unlikely to ever contract leukemia since it is transmitted through saliva. But they didn't tell me that. They should explain more thoroughly what each vaccine is and the risk factors. I was also mislead on the price. I was told it would be $35 for the vaccine but ended up being double the price because it was a combo. I regret throwing my money away and also putting my kitten at risk for the dangerous possible side effects when it was completely unnecessary Read Less

Two new puppies have become members of our family and the family at VCA as well, we were very impressed with the attitude and overall demeanor of the staff. Horrible NON-doctor!! I would never recommend anyone go there. He was so rude and arrogant he couldn't introduce himself and only pointed at his shirt with name on it! He wanted to pull 3 teeth without even getting an x-ray. Never return and never ever recommend anyone go there! The "Non-DON DOCTOR" IS NOT A DOCTOR WORTH PAYING THERe needs to be a SERVICE FOR ANIMALS with doctors who are qualified with care not idiots wearing white coats!!! This is an update, my previous dog passed away and they handled the situation really well... now my mom has a dog who swallowed a rock and they are overcharging for watching him for a day. To see if the rock would pass and he still has the rock in him. We took him to a differnt clinic because it saved us over 2000.... so don't go here if you can avoid it. I've been using this veterinarian for over ten years and have been satisfied with my experiences. Dr. Clark is great with my dogs, and Dr. Kennard ably removed my older dog's mast cell tumor last year. They take the time to answer questions and concerns regarding the health of your pet. They are reasonable in their expectations of pet owners and pricing, with solutions and offerings when financial constraints are a factor. Also, they don't stigmatize you regarding your choices. For example, when Dr. Clark diagnosed my dog with cancer, I opted for tumor removal but no chemotherapy. I got no feelings of judgment from them for my choice. I haven't interacted much with Dr. Decker, but I generally prefer to see Dr. Clark. Although Dr. Kennard is brilliant. Read Less

We're staying at the Fairview RV Park with our 3 cats. They required they get a rabies vaccine. Being from the Vancouver area I had no idea where to take them, so when I asked at the office they recommended VCA 12-Mile and I'm so glad they did. They were so nice and helpful from the minute we walked in. Mary Clark ,VMD did a very thorough exam before giving the shot. She talked to us the whole time about what she was doing, and what she recommended. When we were done we were given a cat carrier and a bag with a cat book and a toy that the cats play with daily! We value the care we get from VCA. They have been very supportive to us as we had to be with our 19 year old lab until the end and another rescue lab we are not sure of his age. We moved into the area about 20 years ago 12 mile was the first place we started taking our pets. And since then our parents have changed over the years and we have tried other veterinarians in the Gresham Sandy,Troutdale, area and always seem to come back to 12 mile. All the doctors are very well trained and have always treated us very well almost like family.
