I don't ever leave reviews but definitely needed to leave one. I called them on a Friday hoping to get in that following Monday to get my dog neutered. My S/O was going to be off for a week so we thought it would be perfect to have someone stay home with him to watch our dog. They were able to get us in that following Monday! We went in and they were so nice and tried to make my puppy feel so at ease. Definitely establishing care for our dog there for any follow up appointments he will need in the future. Read Less

Couldn’t be happier with the service and care we have gotten! The hours of operation are awesome, the staff is so nice and great about giving you multiple treatment options. Most impressive was that when they did dental surgery on our cat, and found that a tooth was easier to pull than they thought, they charged us $130 less than the estimate we had agree to! They could have not said anything, kept our money and we would have never known the difference! That trust is invaluable! I can’t thank them enough! Read Less

Update @ bottom Dr. Caldwell was our vet for years. She sadly is no longer there. We found a stray, beautiful, looks to be pure bred. We searched the county website, posted that we found him, drove around the area the following day to see if there were any signs posted. We gave him a bath, pried off the choke chain on his neck, took him to Happy Valley Vet to get weight (for food & meds), to scan him for a chip & get him checked out. Before I get into the way the vet made...Continue Reading Read Less

If I could give a 0, I would. I have used the Oregon spay and neuter fund for several animals as I have done foster and rescue for 22 years. There are only 2 vets listed on the east side and this is one of them. I have always paid the $60 and a $10 to $20 fee for the rabies. Everything else has been optional or included in the package. Services were added that had not been approved, an Elizabeth collar was mandatory to take pet home ($20), a $20 deposit was required at time o...f appointment, the spay charge was for $70 (higher than the coupon), there was a biohazard fee, etc etc. My vet charges $130 for my last spay with no coupon. I paid $132 today with the coupon. Unfortunately, I had only budgeted the deposit and an additional $60. So here's a single mom, still supporting 4 kids, no groceries past Thursday, starting a new job tomorrow, with only 47 miles in my tank, not knowing when I will get my next check and not one employee blinked or apologized for their misrepresentation of what is meant to keep this surgery affordable while we do the right thing by our pets. But hey! I get 2 "free" recheck appointments that I can't get to. Save yourself the disappointment and hunger in my case and only use companion pet if you can wait the 2 months for a spot, they are great and honest. See More Read Less

The front desk staff and doctors are so nice and wonderful. I've only had problems with the technicians there but the last encounter I had was enough for me to express my dissatisfaction. I took my husky puppy in for his boosters, and the technician shared with me that she wanted to get a husky puppy but they were "really dumb". I stood there kind of shocked at the fact that the person I'm having take care of my puppy essentially said he was dumb. To some this might not be a big deal, but for others that take a lot of pride in their pet and have so much love for them, it's very insulting. It's like if a doctor called your child dumb. That mom instinct kicks in and you can't believe someone would have such horrible customer service to say that about your baby to your face. Every one who has a pet wants to feel like their pet is smart, special, and one of a kind. As a vet tech, whether or not you agree this to be true, you owe it to your customer and to the pet to make them feel like it is true. That is what excellent customer service is supposed to be like. Everyone else there has been wonderful but it's incredible how one person and interaction can really effect how you view a business. Michanne the HR manager did call me back about the situation and apologized. She expressed that is not how she trains her staff to act towards her customers and that she would talk with the technician. It made me feel so much better that she she cared enough to call me and correct the situation.Read Less

Dr. Caldwell and her wonderful team have been taking care of my two dachshunds for at least the past ten years. Every staff member I have ever encountered have been so friendly. My oldest dog, Tucker was not the best behaved at the vet and even with his naughty behavior, I still felt that they loved him and treated him wonderfully. Recently, Tucker passed away (still hard for me to type) and I felt so comforted and taken care of by Dr. Caldwell and the other doctors. They didn't rush to any conclusions and gave me so many options for him. I am forever grateful for them. I still take Joey, my "younger" (also 16 year old) dachshund there and of course nothing has changed. They take such good care of us!! Read Less

I love Happy Valley Vet. Dr. Caldwell was the first doctor I had an experience with and she has been great from the very beginning. I have been taking my two dachshunds there for about 10 years now (I think, a long time anyhow) and have met the other doctors as well who I really like. Recently, my oldest dachshund and most treasured pal (about 16 years old) passed away. I was so thankful to have HVV as a part of his life up till the end. I felt so taken care of as did Tucker that last bit of his life. They always loved him and were kind to him even though he was not the most well behaved at the vet. We now just have the one dachshund with us and I still feel so blessed to have Happy Valley Vet taking care of him. They answer all of my questions and give me all of my options. We brought our Miniature Australian Shepard here to get spayed and we had a wonderful experience. Like any pet parent, I was really nervous about bringing in Quinn just because surgeries can be scary. Putting our sweet pup under sedation really had me rattled. Quinn has (like many Aussies) the MRD1 gene that can make certain types of sedatives lethal. I was pleased to hear that the clinic was very familiar with this gene mutation, and were incredibly knowledgeable. The clinic was very clean and the staff professional. The aftercare checkups for Quinn were second to none. All in all I would highly recommend Happy Valley Veterinary Hospital  for spay and neuter procedures! Read Less

For the longest time I contemplated whether I should post my honest opinion of this place, so here it is. I worked here for 1 year and it was the worst experience I had ever had at a work place. They treat the employees in the worst way. They expect you to know everything without even training you. When I worked there I would notice other employees including myself asking questions about how to do things at the hospital. Often we would receive a shrug or rolled eyes and would be told to just do it. When the performance of the task was not adequate they would get angry and threaten to fire us for not doing it right and told us if we didn't know what to do then ask. They would treat the animals better than the people and that went for the parent of the patient as well. When I was hired I was told that people would often quit in a matter of two months and I had no idea why, but once I got hired it was obvious that no one would want to be a part of a team that was so condescending. Biggest group of bullies. May be pretty on the outside but behind those closed doors is definitely not as cheery. If you want to be part of a good team this is definitely not the place to go. Awesome, very friendly and personal. I just got through writing a huge review and somehow lost it, but to sum it all up- the staff is extremely warm and kind hearted. The vet came into the room and played with my dog, Minnie, while we went over the plan and details regarding her spaying. With just that gesture, I was assured my pet was in great hands. With Banfield () being my previous veterinary experience, I was nervous and had anxiety over leaving my pets with anyone. I called 4 hours after I left just to check in and the lady at the front desk walked back and asked how Minnie was. She reassured me she was fine and next in line for the procedure and they would contact me at 4:30 when she was ready. When we picked her up they had everything ready and went over her after care instructions which were clear and easy. Today (one day later) they called to check up on her and see how she was feeling. I'm sold. I will definitely be returning.Read Less

This is one of the most amazing veterinary hospitals I have ever been to! My cat Howlie is a patient there and he always gets treated exceptionally well. He was diagnosed with stage 1 renal failure earlier this year and they have helped me to keep him as healthy as he possibly can be. He is now on a prescription diet (specifically for cats with kidney disease) and we are managing the condition very well. No matter what kind of questions or concerns I have, the doctors are always eager to address them. I will continue to tell everyone I know to bring their pets here as their wellness plans are the perfect way to make sure he stays in tip top shape with all his necessary annual vaccines and flea preventatives. Update(04/16/16- 0 star if I can): upon reviewing the vet hospital which I am not trying to hide anything because this is simply how I felt about the experience. Received a mail from Happy Valley Hospital quote "...ask that you cease otherwise to contact our hospital or utilize our service". Banned from hospital for posting a review. Ha! Ha! Feeling like living in China again. Caution: please don't comment anything negative about the hospital or you will be banned! Original Review (3 star): Failed to recognize that my dog was just allergic to her food with stomach pains. She was put on three different drugs: carprofen, tramadol, gabapentin (they automatically assume it was caused by her old age). She also reacted badly to the drugs that maker her more anxious and seeing thing that are not there. $1000 dollars later with a surgery and teeth cleaning (which I am grateful for) and other tests. She was still the same dog in pain with drugs. Then I put her on a hypoallergenic diet, she is finally a normal dog again! We also stopped all these drugs that were giving her side effect! Bottom line: if you are the type of person like the western method of treating your animal, by all means go there and let them experiment on your animal with drugs. If you are the type of person who likes natural healing with food and alternatives to drugs, try somewhere else.Read Less

If you have any concern about care of your pet...avoid this place. Great location, great appearance of the clinic...BAD SERVICE. Any questions of being dissatisfied are met with sarcasm and they ask you not to return to their clinic, even if you speak with patience. Since this is a hospital, attention from staff and quality care and explanation is non existent. The expense of the extras were surprising!! I also noticed how unapologetic the responses were from this clinic to the other complaints on google...but that's what to expect here. Medical care for your pet is expensive anywhere, however, pain meds for 4 days should not be approx $100!!! That alone does not show integrity. Other vets charge much less because they want you to afford to give it to them and not opt out because you can't afford it! Yes, there is more affordable care for your pet and less expensive pain meds that will work great! Yes, they make their money back from Groupon.Read Less

I have never written a public review for anything before. But, I was so horrified by the negligence and lack of compassion by Dr. Caldwell, I wanted to warn as many people as possible. She misdiagnosed my pet even after I agreed to the full panel of initial diagnostic testing that she recommended. After our initial visit, all the tests, and the six medications that we left there with- our animal continued to decline. We brought our animal in again, desperate, for another appointment. At that point, she recommended x-rays, which were completely irrelevant to our animals current condition. She refused to speak to our previous vet on the phone. Our friends and family urged us to get a second opinion, and our animal was put on the correct medication and her condition improved within 48 hours. Maybe Dr. Caldwell is an okay vet, if you have a healthy animal and you simply need someone to prescribe flea treatment or spay your puppy. But when it comes to gravely ill animals, and using critical thinking skills, she is lacking to the point of negligence. If my pet were human, we would have the grounds to sue. We had been tolerating this clinic for about two years, for our many animals routine needs because of the close proximity to our home and kindness of the vet techs. But every time our animals are actually ill or injured- we take them to DoveLewis... Caldwell is more of a shrewd businesswoman than she is a knowledgeable vet or animal lover. Money is not an issue with us. We would be willing to pay whatever the cost to save our loved animals... But for the high prices we pay, we expect you to correctly diagnose and treat our animals. My baby deserves better and I should have known better then to take my dog on a Groupon. Follow up service was non existent after sergery. They said no one answered but I have caller ID and I never received a call. I was not told by staff the possible side effects of meds or anesthesia used and my dog had "accidents". I brought my dog and cat in for a spay and neuter. This was the first time we had been there. I found a coupon online.. They check each animals ( after 5or6 different people coming in the room and each look over each animal ) We start going over the bill and they wanted 513.00 for my female dog (55lbs) and 370.00 for my male cat .. They "highly recommended" all these special test ( like most vets) but when I declined them and said I just want them fixed, rabies and pain pills . They continue to ask me about the testing, when I said no to EACH test they acted like I'm a bad pet owner for not running tests on my healthy animals .. After all that was finally over they inform me that if they find fleas they have to treat both the animals .. (I know they don't have fleas bc my dog reacts very very bad to fleas) I said ok. So before even looking at my animals for fleas they charged me for both to get flea meds . I refused to pay it and they said ok but if we find any we have to charge you .. I said well it sounds like your going to change me even if they don't have fleas .. At this point I was very upset when I left my animals there.. Thinking to myself I shouldn't have left them. When I picked them up after surgery they inform me that ( of course) the had fleas .. I said I don't believe it .. She said the vet saw them jumping off the animals "bc fleas don't like anesthesia". I honestly think it's a scam . Needless to say this was extremely stressful for me and I will never take my animals there again.Read Less
