We came to Ash Creek Veterinary after being referred and reading high reviews...but after only a few months and spending close to 700 dollars ...I'm left feeling frustrated, disappointed and a little bit angry . Our 4 dogs are our babies and we consider them family members. First off we have an American Eskimo who is bearly 1 year old and has had 2 serious seizures. Took him to Ash Creek where they insisted on blood work to find the cause. I was okay with this because my goal is to have a happy healthy dog...after the very expensive blood work all came back 'normal' I asked them then why has he had 2 serious seizures?...that's when I was told the expensive blood test they did would tell us NOTHING about his seizures or what to do to help him with the issue ...the vet shrugged his shoulders when I asked why ?...next I brought 4 dogs in for vaccines...two of the dogs are tiny Yorkies ...one only needed a micro chip...the other needed rabies, distemper parvo , and bordetella. Three days later she's laying around and acting like she's not her regular self ...I notice she has a goose-egg where the injections we're done . I called the vet ...they said to just watch her ...the bump remained for a week and it's been nearly two weeks and it's slowly going away but mean while she has started throwing up ...9 times in one night...and just laying around. I again called the vet ...this time they said bring her in . First thing they wanted to do is the highly expensive blood work . I told them I'd rather not chase my tail giving her useless blood work like I did with the American Eskimo . . .I felt they were pushing the useless blood work and I just wanted them to treat the symptoms...the vet told me you don't have to have the blood work...but she said I've seen people end up with a dead dog . This statement angered me...because the blood work they wanted to do had nothing to do with her symptoms . I felt it had something to do with the vaccines ...but they told me it wasn't that ...and I'm no vet but I do know my dog...and she hasn't been herself since the vacines were given. . .and the throwing up has only made her feel worse. It would not surprise me if she had ate something that she shouldn't have... cause It seems to me to be a really upset stomach. She had been throwing up all night. They said we can hydrate her with fluids. I agreed to that and took her home. She only threw up one more time after that ..but still wasn't her bouncy little self...and by the next morning she still hadn't drank or ate anything. I called and they said are you ready to get the blood work?... She said it could be pancreatic related (I looked up the symptoms...none of which she had)... I told them I'm sure it's an upset stomach and they still insisted on the blood work. . .and the last person I talked to was named Terry and she was rude and very unhelpful. I told her my Yorkie was playing now with the other dogs and seemed better but I would like to get an appointment for the next day that I could cancel if she was still doing better the next morning...since that would be friday (and I didn't want to go into the weekend)...she said no if you don't bring her now we can't help you!....that's when I said I think we will start looking for another vet that can help!!!!...I am NOT at all impressed with what I've seen so far and won't be bringing any of my animals back to Ash Creek Veterinary. I've simply withheld food for 24hrs and gave my yorkie rice and boiled chicken and she is looking like herself again. I'll keep looking until I find a vet that gives all of my animals the attention and care they deserve... without draining my wallet and totally disregarding the reason the pet was brought in in the first place...not to mention having them leave with zero answers or relief for their symptoms !!!!! I LOVE this Vet Clinic. They have been very understanding and have treated any animals I've taken in with great care.
Yesterday I received a condolence card because I had to have my old lady kitty, Oreo, put to sleep a week ago, Monday April 11th. I had her for 18 of her 19 years and it was the hardest thing. I had made an appointment for her on Tuesday the 12th but she just didn't last through to that appointment. My husband called to cancel and let them know what happened.
Then I received the card. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for your kindness. I've never received that from any pet clinic and I've had pets for my whole 47 years of life.

Staff is very nice and service is thorough. We did appreciate that. They did a follow up call and expressed genuine interest in our kitty.$117 for a feline spay is SO DARN expensive! We were asked to pay an additional $13 for a protective cone and an additional $30 for any take home pain meds. Ouch! We made the appointment without asking. We should have gone over prices first! WVAH is amazing, with a great reputation and their site says $75. So I do not feel that $117+ is a fair price for the area. For that, I give them 3 starts. They could really adjust prices and still profit. Read Less

Ash Creek Animal Clinic is a fantastic vet. On two occasions I've called early morning with health concerns and they've fit us in that day. Furthermore, they are very kind and gentle with our animals such that they love going to the vet! We feel like patients rather than numbers, and they truly care about the welfare of the animals. While the Dr.s Archer (husband and wife team) are thorough in their care, they don't prescribe expensive tests or advocate extra vaccines or medications unless necessary for the health of the animals. An office visit is VERY affordable and they are very open about what you're paying for. Also we were very pleased when our dogs were puppies and needed rounds of shots that subsequent rounds of shots could be administered without 'an office visit.' (We only paid for the shots, not the visit, on subsequent rounds of shots.)Also, our dogs didn't come home with fleas as they did with area vets in Salem! Read Less

I took my dog in for recurrent vomiting and the vet said he had bacterial gastroenteritis and RULED OUT a bowel obstruction and charges me $300 for the visit. After trying the medication for awhile my dog still had no appetite but the vet was no concerned. I took my dog into another vet who noted a bowel obstruction immediately and he went in for surgery the following day. My dog was days from death due to the lack of care but they still charge an arm and a leg for substandard care. I will never go back nor would I recommend this clinic to anyone who cares about their pets. Read Less

Read Less
