I woke up to a pretty sick/uncomfortable cat. After calling VCA and getting their opinion it was decided that we could wait to take our cat in until a normal vet opened but we needed to be on their door step when they opened so at 7:30a we went to the Keizer Vet Clinic explained the symptoms and the cats previous history with UTIs (which is a cat KILLER).... Their response? To look us straight in the eyes and REFUSE to see our cat. They looked at us and said this is a medical... emergency and our cat needed to be seen right away but they would not see him and turned us away. Even after telling them they are literally the only place open they still refused and continued to say how important it was the cat was seen immediately. I understand if the clinic was completely slammed or there was something else crazy going on but this was not the case. It was 7:30a and empty. We were not even offered suggestions on places we COULD go since they were apparently too busy. After this horrible experience with Keizer Veterinary Clinic I called my normal vet who luckily answered EARLY. Thankfully my cat was then immediately treated by them and is ok now. Although I love the vets and the care that my pets receive, the pricing is a moving target. I just picked up Pill Pockets which were clearly priced at $9.50. But I was charged $10.50. When I pointed out posted price, it was of no interest to the desk staff. Please be assured I will be getting food and Pill Pockets elsewhere. Last night I found a dog on Wheatland Rd that had been hit by a car. I didn’t know what to do to help the suffering animal and by a random twist of fate, I flagged down a “stranger” (Dr Chris Erion of Keizer Veterinary Clinic) that was out for some exercise on his bicycle. I was unbelievably lucky to have encountered such a hero! He called the clinic, asked his staff to stay late, wrapped the little injured dog up in a towel that I had with me, climbed into my car and held... the terrified and bloody creature while I drove back to the clinic. Without any request for compensation, Dr Erion eased her suffering with pain meds and did imaging to determine the extent of her injuries. Under his care, I’m told that this little dog survived the night and that her prognosis is positive. Receptionist is extremely rude, if I ever considered using/recommending this office her attitude just changed that. Perhaps realizing the staff you choose to represent your office should be as high of a priority as the doctors you choose to treat a patient is a concept your office should consider as she just lost you the business for all 8 of my pets that are kept up to date on everything from vaccines to yearly dentals. I can't begin to tell you how much I love KVC. Since I retired in 2005 and moved back to Keizer, I've been a client of Keizer Vet Clinic. I'm a cat person..Never had a Vet that took such good care of my cats. I had a "red flagged" cat, Daisy...she was not taken care of well before I got her and had issues. Never did they refuse to care for her..always found a way.. I recently took her in and lost her..she was almost 18 years old and I'm so sure I was lucky to have her that long because of the care they gave her! Dr. Erion had her last (yesterday) and made me feel confident I made the right decision to end her life. I totally recommend this Vet Clinic..they are compassionate, caring and truthful. All the Drs! Wow, just wow. My pit bull/boxer mix has been suffering from a recurring skin rash/staph infection for years now. I wasn't seeing any results with my previous vet, so tried Keizer Veterinary Clinic. From the very moment I walked in the door, I felt comfortable. My dog (Mocha) has high anxiety going to the vet (as do many pets) but she also has the negative stigma that comes along with being part pit bull. The staff (especially Mandy) was AMAZING with making my dog feel at ease. Even after Mocha got a little barky, they were still so caring and didn't make either of us feel bad. Dr. Hatch came up with a plan to clear up Mocha's skin rash and even came up with a plan B. Leaving the clinic, I felt "taken care of" ...which is a great feeling. I have been a loyal customer for over 7 years. Earlier this morning I had to take in my kitty in for an unscheduled appointment (not yearly exams), and for the first time I had to ask for a payment plan. They absolutely refused. I had to pay over $4,000 in the last week for property taxes and insurance premiums, and explained I have a limited budget for the next three weeks, this still would not persuade them. Took my 7 year old cat here today to get his eyes looked at and his back from biting at fleas. They are very friendly people and made my cat feel comfortable. They were quick and very knowledgeable. I was really disappointed with my service at this vet clinic. I took my cat in because I knew she had an ear infection, and he hardly looked in her ear before he recommended that I put her under so they could scope it. I basically had to force him to give me the ear medication that I knew that she needed.  He reluctantly prescribed give me the medication I got it and then paid for my visit and left guess what, she got better. I know the medication that I needed, he just refused to even look at my cat before recommending that he put her under anesthesia. Really really disappointed wouldn't never go back. I have taken her to multiple veterinary clinics and he is the only one who has ever ever ever recommended that nobody else has ever had a problem with her. I just took my 7 month old chihuahua in to get spayed. She also got two baby teeth pulled, got a micro chip, and had shots. I picked her up that same day after work and although she had a rough first night (I don't blame her for everything she had done, poor girl), her incision looked fantastic and was back to her normal self the next day. After 5 months of care at a location in West Salem, our dog had yet to make progress on healing from an open wound. One visit and a surgery at Keizer Veterinary Clinic cost us less than the 5 months care at the other clinic. But most importantly, the entire staff was amazing. They are all true professionals, compassionate, personable and knowledgeable. My meeting with Dr. G was a crisis situation that had me very upset. He took control of the situation, did emergency surgery on my cat and saved his life! The entire staff was so compassionate and helpful. They let me come to visit him and sit with him after he got out of surgery. They called regularly when he got to come home and I cannot thank them enough! Outstanding people who really care and also have great skills. I just went to Keizer Veterinary Clinic this afternoon (3/24/14) for the very first time with my new puppy. And let me tell you I was very PLEASED! The others that have left wonderful reviews on this place has nailed it right on the head. The entire staff is very friendly and knowledgable. I got right in after filling out some "first time" paperwork and was out in a reasonable time. My puppy and I both left very happy considering she had to get her shots haha. :) I highly recommend this place to anyone even if you have to drive a ways to get there (I have to drive 25 minutes). We originally went to Keizer Veterinary Clinic as a 2nd opinion. They discovered the problem and solution for our Pup! Well, the original veterinarian clinic simply didn't find the problem. Keizer Veterinary did the exam w/ my husband and I in the room...they didn't take our Pup away to examine her. That means a lot to us. We now question whether the testing really happened at the old clinic. We may never know, because we will only be taking our Pup to Keizer Veterinary Clinic from now on! A Bonus...
