We moved from Oregon City to Lake Oswego, and Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic was conveniently located just down the street from our home. I was extremely unhappy with our previous clinic in Oregon City, and the Lake Grove Clinic was truly a breath of fresh air. Everyone is extremely friendly, and the clinic is always very clean with no funky pet odors. To set the bar even higher, I was extremely impressed when we received a sympathy card earlier this week due to the unexpected loss of our beloved wolfy dog. We have only been visiting this office for about 2 years. Our dog was generally healthy, so our office visits were scarce. We actually didn't even put her down at the clinic, as her stomach twisted in the middle of the night, and she had to be seen at the emergency care clinic. However, they still took time out of their busy day to send us a handwritten thank you note signed by the entire staff. We hope to adopt another four-legged furry friend in the near future and will absolutely be continuing care with Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic. Read Less

The owner and vet at this clinic sold me a doberman puppy that ended up having a hereditary disease. We engaged in on going treatment....the vet had the parents fixed so they wouldn't sell any more defective puppies. This dog was literally untrainable (we'd had dobermans for over 30 years). The dog knocked me down, escaped and got hit by a car. At the vet's recommendations, we spent over $9,000 trying to make him better....the injury exacerbated his genetic disease, he was hurt worse in an operation by the vet, then couldn't eat. The dog had zero quality of life. The vet wanted us to keep spending money on this poor animal. Our purchase contract said we could return the animal if we were dissatisfied. I did, assuming if the vet wanted to try and fix him, he could do it virtually for free as the clinic owner. He put the dog to sleep and sued me for over $1,000. Wonderful human being....I have several other vets that will testify that this guy led me around by the nose, simply gouging me for more money with no concern for the animal's well being. Unconscionable behavior....just disgusting.Read Less

So I've waited to calm down, and here is my list of problems: -When I brought my dog here for shots, the person helping me told me I needed to get my dog a booster shot every single year after his initial shots and their booster shot (it's every 3 years after that, not every single year), and when I said "so you want me to over vaccinate my puppy?" He said "yes." -I brought said puppy here for boarding for a week and a half, and was assured he would get enough potty breaks. Well, he smells like he has sat in his own urine for the entire time, and I had to give him baths 2 days in a row just to get the stench out of his fur. -Following his brief visit, my puppy had to get de-wormed because he obviously caught worms while he was here. But somehow they never noticed living white worms in his poop...so. -Lost my property (offered to replace it, but seriously?) I love the vet who gave him his shots, because she was sweet, but the rest of this entire situation is just a joke. I have never dealt with any place that was this bad. Read Less

I have been taking my three cats to Lake Grove for about six months after bouncing around from one awful vet to the next. Finally, I was referred to Dr. Taylor at Lake Grove and now I feel like I have a vet that actually cares about my cats. Dr. Taylor doesn't push for the most expensive option straight away, but rather she carefully explains each option in regard to treatment and price and supports whatever decision I make for my pets. Dr. Taylor and the staff at Lake Grove are total pros who tolerate my anxious questions and end of the business day phone calls panicking about a gooby eyed kitten. I know that my cats are in good hands with Dr. Taylor- and so do they! I have never seen my cat get a shot and then 2 minutes later start cuddling on the vet. After years of visiting vets that just want to push the most expensive treatment, it is a relief to have a vet that cares.I highly recommend Dr. Taylor and Lake Grove Animal Hospital. Read Less

I can't say enough good things about this clinic. I had just adopted my kitty the day before she started having issues breathing. I called around 5:10 and asked their opinion on what to do - they told me they'd like me to bring her in ASAP (even though they were closing in under an hour). I never felt rushed, and they took amazing care of my kitty from the minute we walked in the door. It was amazing to feel so much support when I was needing it the most. I was sent home with some antibiotics and a sense of relief. I would DEFINITELY recommend this clinic and refuse to take my kitty anywhere else after my experience. I've known Cameron Larson at Lake Grove Veterinary since he was in vet school with my daughter at OSU. Kind and compassionate but best of all an excellent communicator. He recently did dentals on my mini poodle and checked in with me while she was still under sedation to report and ask if I wanted X-rays, teeth pulled, etc. I've started using this clinic for day and overnight boarding as well. I went to this vet upon the recommendation of a woman I met on my plane ride moving to Oregon.  She was so right! Dr . Weikum really seemed to care about my cat. His diagnosis and treatment fixed my cats skin condition after the very first visit with him.  This was after three years of multiple vets trying but not succeeding to diagnose her issue. I only wish we had seen him first.  Would have saved my cat from years of skin issues and my pocket book from paying the other vet bills with no solution.  Long story short.  He knows his stuff, cares, and treats to resolution. I want to say a heart felt thank you to the staff of Lake a Grove Vet clinic for their love and care of our beloved Winston. Everyone was so good to him but my biggest thanks go to Dr. Weikum. He diagnosed Winston with CHF. He sent us to the correct specialists and he never, ever complained or showed impatience with our bringing Winston in at anytime. Most times were more an emergency in our eyes then real emergencies. Dr. Weikum was gentle in his approach when the time came that we no longer could save Winston. Dr. Weikum came to our home and allowed us to take our time in saying goodbye. He explained each process to us and was so, so, kind and gentle. We will never, ever forget the care our beloved Winston and ourselves received from your clinic. Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We've been taking our animals to Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic since moving to the area in 1988. They've always had a great group of people in their office, all the way from the front desk, to the vet. tech's to the veterinarians. We love Dr. Harvey. She developed a relationship with our now deceased calico through-out her life and more so towards the end when she was on medication and we were trying to keep her comfortable. I have been taking my own 4 dogs to Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic since 2000 when I first moved to Lake Oswego, after trying two other clinics and being dissatisfied with both. In 2006 I moved to Scappoose, and I still continue to use Lake Grove, I know from conversations with other customers that I am not alone in choosing to remain with them even after moving away from the local area. In addition I have taken in a handful foster dogs and cats over the years. At various times my dogs have been under the care of all four current Doctors, every Veterinarian Technician, and Veterinarian's Assistant, and have also been in the care of their kennel staff in their Doggy Daycare and Boarding facilities. My dogs, two Chihuahuas, a Labrador Retriever, and a Shepherd/Rottweiler mix have been under their care for regular dental cleanings, physicals, vaccinations, nail trims and anal gland expressing, and have been treated for skin problems, a variety of minor injuries, a couple of major orthopedic injuries, a plethora of age related issues, minor (and some not so minor) surgeries removing "fatty" tumors, for a stroke, and two (the Shep/Rott at age 10 and the Lab at age 14) have since passed away from cancer. The two Chi's are ages 13 and 17 at the time of this review. In every instance the doctors and staff have treated my dogs and me with compassion and kindness. Doctors Hoffman, Creech, Harvey, and Weikum have always demonstrated that they are very competent and knowledgeable, and have always patiently taken the time and effort to make sure I understood what my dogs needed and for all the really difficult decisions, that I fully understood all my options. They have also demonstrated over the years that they really are more concerned for my dogs comfort and well being than generating revenue for the clinic, both advising to "wait and see" when an invasive or expensive diagnostic procedure would likely not be useful, and also referring me to outside specialists for second opinions and treatment in some of the more challenging health problems my dogs have faced. The Vet Techs and Assistants have all shown both gentleness and skill in handling my dogs during visits, often under circumstances where my dogs were un-cooperative due to stress and anxiety (the two Chi's and the Shep/Rott were rescues with abusive histories) As important as their general ability; all the doctors and staff at this clinic have demonstrated to me, over and over again that they care as much for my dogs happiness and well being as I do, or for that they will always be my first choice to care for my pups. It's about time I left a review for this place, as the negative ones are so upsetting. Remember, happy clients rarely go out of their way to leave a review, and this place has many. We've been bringing our two dogs here for about 8 years, and I have never received such compassionate and educated care from any other clinic. Dr. Weikum is my go-to guy for everything. He is always comforting and reassuring, and he goes out of his way to make sure I understand what's happening. It's so nice to be able to comprehend my options and the consequences. Is it the cheapest clinic around? I don't know, probably not, but is the cheapest care what you'd really want for your babies? With all of the bad experiences we've had at chain clinics, I'm more than willing to pay a bit extra for quality care. One of my dogs, after being treated there VERY frequently in the last 2 years, still wags her tail when we arrive. Dr. Creech and Dr. Harvey are amazing as well, and Dr. Creech even offers holistic care and acupuncture. The techs are great too, and I can tell everyone there genuinely cares about the welfare of my pets. I have been allowed to hang out in back to support my sickies, I've been able to save money through frequent email communication, they've recommended other pharmacies to save us costs, and there has never been an issue with squeezing us in whenever we need anything at all. We even tried experimental treatments (nothing crazy) when the illnesses don't fit the standard. I won't take my babies anywhere else, and you shouldn't either. Until today, Lake Grove Vet Clinic has been my primary vet clinic for my dogs. Dr Kreech was always very nice and she always gave good advice and information regarding their care. I have several 'special needs' dogs, who require extensive care and are in the vet on a very regular basis. Over the past two years, my family has spent EXACTLY $7842.64 at Lake Grove Vet Clinic. This is far more than most people spend, and expected more when I called them today to ask for simple advice regarding an injury one of my dogs had, I was told that they do not offer medical advice over the phone. I was simply asking for warning signs about the injury and when it was necessary to bring the dog in to be looked at. I was told that if I had questions, that I would have to pay for answers and bring the dog in. After calling another vet that has received $0.00 of my family's money and getting the answer to my questions, I realized what kind of vet clinic I had been dealing with for all these years. I moved to Lake Oswego about a month ago, close to the Lake Grove Vet Clinic. I immediately started buying my cat's prescription cat food there, planning to make it my cats' veterinarian. I moved back to the Portland area from Central Oregon for work. I have been out of work for over a year and I've gone through my savings. One of my 2 cats became ill and reached a point where I was advised to take him in to be seen that day. Since I am barely able to make rent right now I researched for programs that help financially strapped people with vet bills. I found one that would be available to Lake Grove Vet Clinic. I called them and told them about it (mind you I was already buying the food there) but they told me, ""thanks for telling us about that program - but we're going to reserve it for our established patients"". My cat hadn't been able to keep anything down for days, was rapidly losing weight, and they could have accessed up to $500 of funds to help my cat but refused to. Over the years, I've spent thousands of dollars caring for my pets. I feel that expense shouldn't get in the way of helping my family members if possible. I have made very good money in the past and am in no way a freeloader. I'm in a difficult place as are many people in the country - and they would have been paid! Anyway, I did find a compassionate vet in Tualatin. While they didn't have access to the funds, they were willing to take a little down and a post dated check. Thank God for people who care. Needless to say, I won't be going to Lake Grove Vet Clinic again. They told me all I need to know about the kind of people they are. I highly recommend Lake Grove. We have two dogs and seven cats. We get exceptional care every time we go there. The staff is very friendly and nice. Dr. Weikum is a wonderful vet. He is very knowledgeable and cost conscious. All of our pets like him and are comfortable when he is examining them. Daniette goes above and beyond. She is very kind, professional and personable. The people at Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic were so friendly and knowledgeable. I bring my cat in for everything from annual checkups to boarding. I feel bad leaving my cat when I'm out of town but I really think this place takes great care of her. They also have really nice ""cat hotels"" where she stays that includes a large cat tower and lots of other great toys. I strongly recommend this clinic. Read Less
