We love newberg Veterinary hospital! Our cats leg got injured and two other vets wanted to amputate it. One hospital quoted us $4-$5 thousand to do it. Newberg quoted under $1200. Once we arrived he wanted to try and save her leg. Long story short we spent less than $1200 and our cat still has her leg 😍 1 year later she is doing amazing! They are worth the 45 minute drive from us! The staff is so friendly and informative. I never feel judged how I’m caring for my pet or pushed to pay more than I need to. Read Less

It was supposed to be a drop off and pick up later situation because I had to be somewhere that day but when I arrived, Dr. Aschim graciously saw him immediately so that he wouldn't have the stress of being there all day. I've been coming to Newberg Vet Hospital since I got my Apple Bunny nearly 8 years ago. They are amazing, efficient, kind and treat your pets like the family members they are. I recently had a pet emergency and I called and was told to come in the next day and they would have an urgent care appt slot for me. So I came in the next morning prepared to wait as long as it took but an hour later they had my kitty checked out, diagnosed and medicine provided!!! The doctors seem great once you are actually into the room. The people at the desk are nice and are probably great at what they do, but seem to lack a sense of urgency if an animal is acting up or having a bad time. The waiting area can get SUPER loud with barking dogs and loud people due to an echoing room, so bad news if you're one with said animals having a bad time. Why vet offices dont have separate dog and cat or loud and quiet waiting areas is beyond me. Read Less

My dog was dying afterwards seeing another vet for a week, all they did was give me pills which she couldn't keep down. They have saved her with a transfusion and many other things. New Year's Eve- my Porter was so sick and I didn't have a regular vet yet for him but heard good things from a friend of mine about Newberg Veterinary Hospital. I called they said they were booked but come in as a wait paitient. I only waited maybe 15 min- with this being last min I totally expected this to be really expensive. Dr. Jaclyn came in did her thing- we left with some antibiotics "she called magic pills" I will be in call tonight if he isn't better. OMG. Great service, so nice and I walked out paying $61. All the doctors at Newberg Vet have been awesome at taking care of our dog Koda. Dr. Weber, Dr. Aschim, and Dr. Tripp have all been fabulous with being 100% familiar with our dogs care, which can be tricky at times. Not only are they great with our dog but they also take the time to listen to my son, answer his questions, and reassure him everything is ok. The front desk staff is awesome and we are always greeted with a friendly smile. We also love the great job the groomers do and trust everyone at Newberg Vet to care for our Koda that we also love their boarding while on vacations. Hands down this place is the best of the best. I drive almost 3 hours (with traffic) to go to this vet. I see D. Webber, he is an amazing vet! I can't thank him enough for all he does for my family. I've only ever used him personally but, Dr. Jackie once helped him do a C-section on one of my Mastiffs and worked on a struggling puppy for over 15 minutes to get him stable and breathing. I drive all the way from Portland to take our dogs here- they are worth it. Clean and professional and much more reasonable than anywhere in Portland. Doctor Fischer and Tina Johnson are our favorites. They have guided us for our last four dogs and never tried to oversell costly solutions-always providing all options-the entire staff is awesome and hours are flexible so we can make it from Portland. We have also boarded there for short weekend stays at the coast where we could not take them with us. Very convenient to pick them up coming from Newport. We have had dogs and vets for last 40 years and have never had this level of service ever. I am surprised to see any negative reviews. Read Less

We lost our 14 year-old cat, Leonardo DiCATprio yesterday. Dr Tripp saved him a few months ago, but he was too ill to fight any longer and we had to have him put down. He was a clown, and is already greatly missed. I'm the owner of several guinea pigs. Finding a vet that will not only treat my "exotic" little friends but also knows what antibiotics are safe for them means a lot to me. Taking them to just any old vet may mean a lethal dose of the wrong kind of antibiotic!! This location is 90 minutes away from me, but its worth the drive to know that I have cavy savvy vets who are friendly, competent and knowledgeable about my exotics. I've taken 4 of my piggies to them to be treated for upper respiratory infections which sadly can be quite common and very deadly if not treated in time. All four of my sick guinea pigs have made full recoverys and are back to their furry little selfs! I tell all my guinea pig owning friends that this is the vet to use if your piggie gets sick. I am a first time dog owner and my dog is 1.5 years old. I've taken her to Newberg vet and had great experiences. Anytime I have a question or she is sick I call and ask the office if I should be concerned. Their wonderful hours make it convenient and helpful at emergency times. Today (Saturday) she chewed up an ant poison trap and the secretary told me to bring her in immediately. I was in and out within 10 minutes to make sure she was safe and the ant trap was non poisonous to dogs. It's amazing their emergency care was so quick. Thank you, thank you! It was a Monday morning and I didn't have an appointment. My Dog was having a medical issue and I took him there as a walk in. They were amazing. This Hospital is Top of the line. I am an Animal tech, at least that is what I use to be for over 10 years, I have worked with two different vets in the past but none compare to Dr. Tina Johnson, she saved my best friends life. I have had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Johnson several times now with two different cats and I feel she offers a level of care you won't find in many places and the staff here is just incredible. The techs are knowledgeable and kind and the receptionists are friendly and get you seen quickly plus they are always so willing to answer questions over the phone and have no problem getting you through to a Vet if you need to speak with one. And the cost is more than reasonable. Finding a good Veterinarian these days is tough stuff, the good ones are few and far between Dr. Johnson is the real deal. Dr. Tripp is also very kind, she was the one I spoke with before the place was even open one morning when my Mikey couldn't breathe. She instructed me to take him right over there that she would have a tech let me in and that she herself was on her way. I haven't met Dr. Weber but I hear he is great too and he is my neighbor so I may meet him soon. (I just moved here from California a few months ago) How do you thank people that go above and beyond to save one of the most important things in your life? All I can do is spread the word and so here I am. We've been coming here for about a year now after a bad experience with a previous veterinarian. Newberg Veterinary Hospital is fantastic. The staff is great, and the rooms are clean and well maintained. The veterinarians on staff take their time with our older dog, who is nervous around strangers (especially the weird ones that want to poke and prod him!). We don't have children, we have dogs and cats. As a journalist and former research and development chemist with a pharmaceutical company, I had never met a vet I trusted until I met Drs. Weber and Johnson at Newberg Veterinary Hospital. A genuine hospital, the clinic really is open seven days a week and its on-call doctors really do return phone calls within 10 minutes. Newberg Veterinary Hospital's doctors are skilled -- Dr. Fischer tapped our beloved golden retriever's heart when a tumor on his heart burst, flooding the pericardium with blood. Doctors are up-to-date and inventive -- Dr. Johnson's knowledge extends far beyond Eastern Medicine, although her skillful use of acupuncture eased our golden's arthritic pain, and her suggestion of an Eastern Medicine herbal capsule ""Yunnan BaoYao"" is what I credit for nearly four months of invaluable time to say our goodbyes when our golden retriever contracted hemangiosarcoma, a cancer that causes abnormal blood vessels and tumors. The VietCong used Yunnan BaoYao to stem internal bleeding during the Vietnam War. Newberg Veterinary Clinic's doctors are compassionate -- the newest doctor on staff came to our home when it was time to say good bye to our golden. All doctors at Newberg Veterinary Hospital are understanding and empathetic. They are sensitive to the fact that our pets are valued members of our family. The doctors never fail to take time out of their busy days to thoroughly address our questions -- and fully consider all possible avenues of treatment. As a past resident of Michigan and Montana, and a current resident of Florida, the cost of Newberg Veterinary Hospital's extraordinary care is extremely reasonable. We cannot thank the doctors, veterinary technicians, and grooming and office staff enough. We were lucky to live no farther than a couple of hours from Newberg Veterinary Hospital for nearly seven years, but we would have happily traveled farther if we had needed to do so. While we sat in the clinic's comfortable waiting area, we often spoke with folks from the Portland and Salem metropolitan areas who were regular travelers to Newberg because they wanted top-notch care for their pets. Probably the only fault we could possibly find with Newberg Veterinary Hospital is that its staff has set the bar too high. From reading the other reviews I felt safe bring my pet there, Boy- was I wrong. The vet sent my pet home with an opened sore that resembled a gun shot wound. I questioned the vet and was told not to worry. Within days the wound became infected and made my animals sicker. Unfortunately I did not trust my instinct and kept bring my pet back for further treatment; and each time was given a different reason for my pet condition. Also, I was never informed about the cost, even though I repeatedly requested price quotes, until after the service was proved. I didn?t think anything of it the first few time since the payments were reasonable. The charges increased with each visit until they became the size of a mortgage payment and for service I was never given a chance to authorize. When I complained, they held my pet hostage while they extorted the payment. Even after I told them I had to pick up my kids, they held me in a back room until arrangements could be made. They treated me like a criminal. I took my dog to other vets and was told the treatments my pet received my have been unnecessary and the documentation was not up to the Veterinary Board?s standards. Since I no longer take my pet to Newberg Veterinary Hospital, I now get estimates, in writing, and a CHOICE on how to care for my pet. I am one that rarely complains but after the way I was treat I feel it is my duty to warn others. Read Less

We have been taking our animals to Newberg Veterinary Hospital for many years. I must say that without a doubt, the professionalism seen throughout this establishment is fantastic. My husband and I have experienced everything from bringing brand new puppies in to get them started in life with shots, proper care & feeding, etc., to having to put down our beloved pets who were well in to their senior years. We recently had to have our 12 year old lab/chow mix put down due to acquiring a rather fast moving case of lymphatic cancer. 2 months after losing our special boy to this terrible disease, we had to have our cat who we originally adopted from an employee at Newberg Veterinary Clinic 19 years ago put down, just due to age & unfortunately it was his time to go. The care & concern we got was tremendous throughout both of these incidents. We always feel like our animals are the only ones they have to take care of. The time & devotion is remarkable. This applies to not just the doctors, but the complete Newberg Vet Hospital staff. We have used several other vets off and on for different reasons over the years, but always come back to Newberg Vet & this time it is to stay.
