If I could give a 6 star review, I would. I have been a kitty parent for about 7 years, and have had experiences with many different clinics over that time period. I can say, hands down, that this is the most professional, empathetic, and thorough care that my kitties have ever received. After having a positive FeLV test at Dove Lewis over the weekend, today's visit was a scary one, but everyone was so helpful, kind and really took their time to get to know both my kitties and answer my abundant questions. Luckily, after re-testing in a more thorough manner, the fur babes received clean bills of health and discovered that the test over the weekend was likely a false positive! The staff were very concientious and caring to both me and my little guy. They helped us get set up with all the vaccinations we would need and then a few weeks later did his neuter. Not only have the people here been helpful and kind, but the clinic is quaint, real, and very clean. This clinic has all the upgrades and ammenties of a corporate clinic, without the "sterile" feeling from the staff. They always know who I am and remember everything from previous visits! I'm so happy to support them, as they are the epitome of an amazing local business. Customer service is perfection. I told them I prefer email correspondence, so they email me results and statements! They don't call me so much that I am bothered, however, when I need to get in touch with them for a question, they are available. Also, prices are comparable to everywhere else I have been. -I was with a corporate vet for a while, and I never felt like anyone knew who I was. I was constantly re-explaining what my cat needed to every new doctor and relaying information between their doctors!!- Tl;dr. In the fall of 2015 my cat, Eva, became ill. I wish I had a fairytale ending, but by the time Eva was symptomatic she'd had a cancer spread throughout her body. I'm thankful for everything the staff was able to do for me. Opening early so I could drop Eva off for testing, setting aside time to speak with me when they had to give me bad news, keeping Eva comfortable in her final days, and giving her a peaceful and painless passing. I was very unhappy with the service I received from one of the vets here. I didn't feel that she listened to my concerns. She seemed more interested in charging the highest fees possible. She was too busy to communicate with me after the visit. The meds she gave my cat made him feel worse. I went to a different vet (Dr. West at Linwood Animal Clinic) and had a much better experience, and my cat is feeling much better. Read Less

I highly recommend going here! They were so nice to my cat and handled her so well. I got to go back into the hospital and love on her while they drew blood and got a urine sample. She usually fights and struggles but she was calm and didn't pull away. They explained everything that they were doing and were so nice. They also helped with bringing down the cost by telling me what tests were necessary and what weren't necessary. Amazing place and amazing staff! Read Less

I decided to take my two kitties here after a poor experience somewhere else. What started out as two routine annual exams became a roller coaster ride with one cat who had been coughing. It was a rough few weeks with quite a few visits to the Cat Hospital. Each visit, we were greeted with care and professionalism. Everyone my husband and I encountered made it obvious that they love cats and that they only wanted the best for our boy. I like that they used scented warm towels and took their time with exams, letting our cats get acclimated to the situation. Fantastic place! Took our cat here for the first time, the staff were all very nice and professional - they did not try to sell me on any additional services like some vets I have been to in the past. When we moved here 4 yrs ago we had to find a vet for our older Himalayan cat. Her long hair is hard for us to keep up with so we found that an annual haircut was the way to go. It takes a long time for her to warm up to new people. Not the case here! Every time we take her in she immediately starts to purr. They are the best!!! She leaves there as if we took her to the spa for the day!! She is now 17 1/2 yrs old and we do not intrust just anyone with her. I can honestly say it is worth the drive to take her here. We have recommended these wonderful caring CAT people to whoever we come across. They take their time with her and explain everything to us as if she is one of their family members. Read Less

This hospital is the BEST for taking care of your cats! The staff truly cares about the cats and their humans. One of our male cats had to have an eye removed last year due to a benign tumor and they took the best possible care of him. And, just two months ago when it was time to say good-bye to our beloved female of 17-1/2 years they couldn't have been any kinder to us as well as showing respect and gently helping our cat leave this world peacefully. The staff is really excellent at taking the time to explain everything so you can continue to take care of your cat once you get them home. They are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Hi my name is Nina. I'm a six year old Siamese/Manx mix. Achuu! Excuse me; I'm getting over a cold. I used to be cold, hungry, lonely and scared. I'm very scared of people. When I was homeless, no on petted me, or cleaned my ears, or gave me toys or food. I was adopted a few weeks ago and my parents took me to The Cat Hospital of Portland for my first check up. Mommy and Daddy knew I needed to go to a calm, safe hospital. We went to a cat only hospital. Cats walked freely in the reception area and lounged on carpeted cat condos. We went into a private room and that's where I met Dr. Elizabeth. Even though I was really scared, Dr. Elizabeth and all the staff were very kind and gentle with me. I think I am beginning to trust people. Dr. Elizabeth I'm very sorry for hissing and trying to bite and scratch you. Thank you for understanding how frightened I was and for being very kind to me. Dr. Colleran and her staff are 'cat specialists'. They have been wonderful--providing an exceptional level of care both for routine things --like trimming our cat's claws, something she hated and I got tired of struggling with-- through what turned out to be a long, and ultimately terminal illness. They provided exceptional professional treatment and emotional support and were always very up-front about our options, the possible outcomes and the costs, making it easy to make informed decisions.
