Dr. Roberts is our hero. Seriously. It was a bad week with hubby undergoing eye surgery. The sudden illness of our dog was almost the last straw. You can’t schedule emergencies for more convenient times. I was fairly certain our dog wouldn’t make it, it sure looked like end stage liver failure. Dr. Roberts listened to all the information, REALLY listened. She recommended tests. She negotiated on the phone getting last minute mobile ultra sound scheduled. She already ...had a full schedule, but I felt like we had her full attention. We love Fremont Vet, but saw entirely too much of everyone there that awful week, coming back almost every day, putting in IV lines, taking them out. And through it all, I felt like everyone cared. I absolutely love Fremont - the dogtors and staff have always been nice and helpful in choosing a health plan for my furbabies. Every time my pup would have an emergency, they took care of her no questions asked. Although the clinic is a business, I never see dollar signs, I see people who care about my family. I've been bringing my dogs and cats here since the 90s, but never fully appreciated them until I tried another nearby vet temporarily (trying to save money on shots for our new kittens). Fremont is solid and trustworthy, gives me full information and is supportive of my decisions. My animals don't love going to the vet, but they know that everyone there is their friend. Read Less

Several people suggested Fremont Veterinary Clinic based on their experience. The front office reflects how busy they are but they are well organized, friendly and handle people and pets efficiently. However it wasn't until visits with the (2) Drs. that I realized how extraordinary the Clinic really is. I've had the pleasure of having my animals seen... by Dr. Johnson and Dr. Veatch. After all the years of seeing dogs and cats they still seem genuinely curious about meeting new ones. We've taken both our dog and cat to Fremont Veterinary Clinic for a few years and have never had a bad experience. We can always book an appointment quickly and the office staff is very responsive. I really trust every Vet we've seen and they seem to genuinely care about their furry clientele. What I appreciate most is that they are very reasonable in recommendations and procedures. Every Vet I've met has always suggested the least invasive (and least expensive) approach to care. I've never felt like I was being "sold" something that my pet didn't truly need. I love Fremont vets! I've taken my cats to them for 20 years, and they have always been great. They provide excellent and compassionate care, and always have made me feel included in their process. They are friendly, punctual, professional, and clearly love animals. I will never forget their empathy and sensitivity when I had to put my beloved cat down. They tried many things to treat his kidney failure and left it to me to make the decision. They gave me the choice to be present or not when he was euthanized, and didn't shame me when I said I could not. They made a clay cast of his paw and arranged cremation with the ashes to be used on a tree farm. And then, a few days later, they sent a wonderful condolence card that I still have. Easily the best Veterinary Clinic I have ever been to. After getting the runaround from another vet, we brought our ailing dog here on the recommendation of many others. Dr. Roberts quickly diagnosed our dog's illness and gave us direct, helpful, and most of all kind advice for how to move forward. We've brought our cat here a few times and I've always had a good experience - we were seen at our appointment time (very minimal waiting) and the vets made sure to answer all of our questions. It was also very helpful to have them go through so much effort to review costs of care with us as well, so we can make an informed decision. I happened to have an appointment with another vet when I moved to the area but realized that Fremont was closer so I cancelled the other appointment at the other place and I am so glad I did!  They are so nice here but most of all I feel like they really care about my animals who mean the world to me!  I have since moved out of the area but still drive in to go to this place...that is how good they are.  I see the same vet each time I come but I hear they are all great. I've been going to Fremont Vet for my 9 year old Rottweiler for the past 4 years now. I see both Dr. Roberts and Dr. White. Both are excellent at what they do. I like when I notice a vet taking their time to think through a proper diagnoses and subsequent treatment. I get exactly that from both of them. Their prices are reasonable and they don't try to sell you on treatments / medications that your pet doesn't need. I've recommended at least two other pet owners to try Fremont and they now use them for primary care. My family and I have brought dogs here since the 1980s. Every Fremont vet we've seen has been knowledgeable, caring, and helpful. The support staff goes above and beyond my expectations, as well. My current dog has behavior issues and everyone at the clinic has done a great job of helping me help her have a better, healthier life and making sure everyone (they, me, my pup, and anyone in the waiting room) has a safe, good experience, all without perpetuating any of the guilt you often have as the owner of a difficult dog. (Special thanks to Dan- without him, Lulu's nails would be 4 inches long and my hands riddled with bites!) While I can certainly understand finding a particular vet here that you want to see exclusively, if their calendar is booked up, I'd totally recommend seeing any of the doctors. All of the doctors I've seen here have been very knowledgeable and each have their own interests and experiences that can help you form a complete picture of options and solutions for your pet. They are a busy clinic, and sometimes get walk-in emergencies, so I've found it's best to schedule as ahead of time as you can. If your appointment is later in the day, things may be running a little late, as well. But I have always felt comfortable asking questions and being given the time to do so. Read Less

I recently moved here, heard about them from a friend.  I have taken my two 18 year old cats on 4 different occasions.  The front desk staff has always been super accommodating and and kind.  We met different doctors and techs each time, and every time, they spent a good 20-30 mins with me and my cat asking about their history and daily habits.  I've even received follow up calls to see how the visit was and how my cat was doing.  They aren't in my neighborhood but I'm happy to make the drive because I know my cats will great excellent care and love.I especially like the separate waiting rooms for kitties and puppies.  Makes it less stresfull for the kitties. My dogs have been patients there for almost 10 years and each time we have to visit, it's an absolute pleasure. They saved my young, Golden Retriever from a very traumatic injury in 2008 and he's doing great and a happy, loving 13 year old today. If it weren't for this group of remarkable professionals, I'm not sure the story would have had a happy ending. Even when I had to send my 18 year old Jack Russell over the rainbow bridge, the experience was perfect and Dr. Johnson and Dr. Reis followed up with me after my loss to make sure I was doing ok. My fiance and I moved into Rose City Park in November of 2015 and because I had lived previously in Troutdale, I needed to find a new vet for my 14 year old cat that was closer to home.  She doesn't like the car and absolutely HATES going to see the vet.  She becomes a completely wild cat, trying to scratch, bite and kill everyone, including me.  Our first visit in February of 2016 was great.  Dr. Roberts was super patient and understanding of my wild cat Emily and the cat wrangler handled her like a champ.  Even the gals at the desk were just wonderful.  Emily was diagnosed with kidney disease so I've been in the office a lot over the past year getting her specialty food.Yesterday, we went back for our annual check up a few weeks early because Emily had lost a lot of weight.  Dr. Roberts was booked so we saw Dr. Cassioli this time.  Unfortunately, Emily now has cancer so it wasn't good news.  Dr. Cassioli was so great, both in handling Emily and in taking care of me.  She even made time to call me around 7:45pm to give me the final test results with a definitive diagnosis and treatment plan options.  She could have waited until this morning but didn't want to keep me waiting.  The compassion and care she showed both me and Emily was so very much appreciated.   I know we are in very good hands with the entire care team here for however much longer we need them.  I am so glad I found this team, and so close to home.   If I had lots of money I'd donate it to them to renovate their space as I think it could use an update and some expansion but other than that, the care is excellent and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great team for their pets.Thank you to Dr. Roberts, Dr. Cassioli and the entire team here.  You are making a very difficult time easier to handle. Initially we only needed update shots for our dog Tili but little did we know we would need much more. After she couldn't resist her love for socks we had take her in. They paralyzed my dog when in surgery . I understand this happens. He was an older dog and know that some times this is life. However for them refusing to say I'm sorry is just wrong. All I asked for was a simple I'm really sorry I was removing a tooth that was missed the first time and we rolled him wrong and separated his spine. But nope, they wouldn't. I found a beautiful, rambunctious pup wandering the streets late at night. She'd chewed off her leash. I posted on Craigslist, took her in for the night and brought her to Fremont Vet Clinic to check for a microchip. Nothing. They offered to take her in for a few days due to my weariness, but they'd call Multnomah County Animal Services if no one came looking. I accepted with relief, but gave them my phone number in case the owner didn't come- my roommate had expressed interest in keeping her if need be. I even took a card so if the owner contacted me, I'd have everything. Within two hours, the owner did contact me. I passed along all the clinic's information, just for him to respond shortly that she was already with Animal Services in Troutdale! The owner had to drive out and pay a $95 fee. I understood that a vet clinic is not a shelter before I walked in. I expected to go through some difficulty should no microchip be found. But for them to offer shelter, lie about the time period and then completely disregard my request to be contacted?Read Less

When Buddy passed away, I was an emotional wreck. I had fairly good experiences with Fremont up to that point. I called in to see about cremation services. They had me bring him through the back door, through the employee smoking area, into the employee locker room and hand him over onto a stainless steel rolling table. It was horrible. On the way out the door, one of the Tech's said, "Don't worry, we'll take good care of him." They charged me a hundred and eighty dollars for this! Later when I had Happy cremated, I took him to the facility myself and was shocked that they only charged eighty five. Fremont took a hundred percent mark up. I have often thought of writing a letter, but it was just too hard to relive the pain. Read Less

We were referred to Fremont Veterinary Hospital last year by a friend. Wow! So happy we took their advice! I am a Search and Rescue dog handler, training a 9 month old Yellow Lab puppy. Among the routine shots and check-ups, Henry has gotten himself into some precarious situations. He has snacked on dead salmon while in the field, stuck his big nose into a spiders nest and eaten more bees than I can count. All of which, Fremont has been there for. Choosing a Vet for your dog should be as important as choosing a doctor for yourself. Peace of mind that your 4 legged is in competent, capable hands is essential. The wonderful people at Fremont have given me the confidence that I am getting the BEST care for my dog. I have had interactions with most of the staff, anyone from the receptionist to the owner of the clinic and EVERY vet there! Every single one of them care for their patients and their sometimes crazy owners, with compassion and kindness. They are well educated and are current on all of the trends and treatments that are best for your animal. The prices for routine and emergent services are fair and reasonable. They are always on time, even when they've had an emergency. I could go on and on and on.... There are many vet clinics out there to choose from, especially in Portland.
