Absolutely wonderful service and care. It is clear that they love animals, and they take time to listen, get to know your pet, and handle everything professionally, promptly, with kindness and attention. My 2.5 year old cat responds really well to the vet there and seems comforted, even though it's scary for her to take vet trips. I also feel their pricing is reasonable, availability is great, and their facilities are clean and modest, not stuffy or pretentious. Just real people, great vets, and lots of love for your furbaby! We love taking our dogs to Northwest Neighborhood Vet for check-ups! The staff are all knowledgeable, helpful and kind to the animals. Dr. Prull and Dr. Gowing are wonderful, they are patient doctors who our dogs actually like to see. We always come in with a lot of questions, and they take the time to answer each one thoroughly. When our shepherd mix swallowed a plastic bag which obstructed her intestines and stomach, Dr. Prull took her in for emergency surgery and saved her life. The doctor and staff took us through the recovery process and she was back to her energetic self in no time. We lost her last year, but we know that the care at NW Neighborhood Vet helped us to give her a long, happy life. Our little chihuahua terrier mix is a little more afraid of things, but he actually stops shaking when his familiar vet comes in the room. This vet hospital also has a travel expert, Erin Finucane, who is helping us prepare our little dog for travel plans and airline flights. Couldn't recommend NW Neighborhood Vet more! Read Less

Very happy I found this clinic for Rufus. The staff is very friendly, and the vets have been knowledgeable, thorough and answers all my questions. Rufus and I especially like Dr Sarah McCormack. She’s so good with him even when he’s completely freaked out and scared. They have been consistently on time for appointments. The waiting area is really large, so you can keep dogs away from each other if needed. They have a small selection of toys and food to buy on the side. Lots of parking outside. Read Less

I love this hospital. They have cared for my cat and my dog now, and have been amazing for both of them. They primarily see Dr. Shuler, who is amazing, but my dog has also seen Dr. McCormack, and I have had interactions with the rest of them as well. All of them are wonderful. One of the best parts about the doctors here is that they take the time to really explain what they are seeing with your pet, every possible course of action, and their recommendations. They are always considerate of the cost, emotional and financial, of any action and make sure you are comfortable with the decision you make. Both of my pets have had appointments and surgery here, and in every case, I am well communicated with and feel genuinely cared for by every member of the team. This is a great practice all around. Dr. Prull and the staff at NW Neighborhood Vet are AMAZING. I've taken my pups to numerous vets, holistic vets, specialists, and dermatologists over the years and I have never experienced the level of care, knowledge, communication, and competence as I have at NW Neighborhood. Every time I call in they are so incredibly helpful and prompt and always remember my dogs. Dr. Prull is also trained in holistic medicine, and she always gives me a variety of treatment options. She calls personally to check on my pups and accommodates to my picky needs and thoughts without judgment. On numerous occasions we've had to see other vets due to emergency situations and every single one of them (and their vet techs/staff) has been outstanding. They are also very transparent about pricing and genuinely care about your pets. We got lucky because they are in the neighborhood (although they have a parking lot - super convenient!) but I will never take my pups anywhere else and I highly recommend them to any pet-parent. This is a wonderful vet with super caring and accommodating staff. I usually see Dr. Hook but on at least three occasions I've had minor emergencies with my Polish Sheepdog and every time they were able to squeeze us in same day with different vets and they've all been lovely and fixed my monster up quickly. I'm sure there are less expensive vets to go to, but I also don't think that they are overpriced. They have always given me several treatment options with varying prices and have never pushed for the expensive route. I truly feel that they advise you as if it were their own pet. And they always call me at least once or twice after our visits to make sure the pup is getting better. Couldn't recommend this place more.Read Less

I've taken six of my pets (cats and dogs) to be treated at NW Neighborhood Vet for many years now. One of my kitties is very ill this past week, and multiple doctors at NW Neighborhood have worked so hard to help me figure out what is wrong with him so he has a fighting chance to live. Another one of the doctors helped me hospice my 19-year-old kitty for several days two years ago, with exceptional compassion. I've brought my bunny and my beloved cat here and have only had great experiences. Everyone that I've encountered here, the vets, techs, and front desk staff, have all made me feel comfortable and welcome, which is saying a lot because I'm a nervous pet parent. We have come to love NW Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital due to Mary Tustin's excellent care for, and understanding of, canines and people alike! When our dear Yogi was very old and difficult to care for, Mary showed him the real kind of care and love that normally you can only wish for when you need to board your companion. In fact, when we'd bring him home after a visit with Mary we could tell he was thinking ""Hey, where's Mary?!"". We will NEVER forget Mary's kindness and wisdom that greatly helped us through our beloved Yogi Rhein's last days. (I also want to shout out big kudos to Dr. Carrie who was so gentle and kind during those last moments!) Now we have another sweet rescue dog, Violet. I have 2 dogs that have severe environmental and food allergies and Dr. Flaherty has gone above and beyond to help with their treatment. Between diets, antihistamines and fatty acids (all recommended by dr flaherty) my dogs' skin has finally cleared up after years of vets telling me that there was nothing wrong with my dogs. The support staff is always more than willing to accomodate my schedule and has even let me drop off my dog to be seen when there arent any open appointment slots. I would recommend Dr. Flaherty or any of the vets at NW Neighborhood to any and everyone! Read Less

FYI this is me changing a negative review to a positive. I left a negative because among other things I felt I was having to pay for unnecessary tests (see other negatives). Because I used my real name Dr. Shuler who owns the hospital researched all my complaints and explained to me why they were necessary. After talking with Dr. Shuler I feel that some of the vets probably aren't the greatest at communicating but at the same time I feel that everyone at Northwest Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital puts anyone's pet's health above profits. GF took the cat to this place 4 times before they're able to determine that it was a UTI. Four visits cost her $2000. The last time, they charged $450 for tests and an anti-biotic shot. This place is expensive and just like another poster said, they always wanted to do tests. The first 3 times, they ran tests and said it was inconclusive but think it could be UTI. I work in medicine and don't know what this means. Did the tests come back positive or negative? It ain't that hard to determine a bacterial infection. It turned out they couldn't get enough samples for a 'good' test. Huh? They didn't say that to her and then they charged her anyway. Even though they were unsure, they subscribed meds for the cat. After I heard about this, I advised my gf to ask hard questions. On the 4th visit, they wanted to do more tests. After the girlfriend demanded results, they gave the cat the anti-biotic shot. That seemed to solve the problem. My advice is to steer clear of this place. Don't pay for their second vacation homes or boats. If they're not greedy then they're grossly incompetent. Love your animal and save your money by going elsewhere. Read Less

I have been seeing Dr. Shuler now for about two years and have had nothing but positive experiences with him and his staff. I adopted my two cats from the Oregon Humane Society and they came with a slew of problems, but I couldn't have asked for a better vet to help me get through that time. He is competent, honest, and very caring as are the rest of his staff. This is a WONDERFUL veterinary hospital and I couldn't recommend it more highly. Read Less

I needed a last minute appointment for a health certificate to fly with my cat. After some frustrating calls to 3 or 4 different clinics (resulting with no help or progress), I called Northwest Veterinary Hospital. The very nice staff gave me an appointment on very short notice the same afternoon. I have had very bad experiences with different veterinarians and clinics in the pas.. Everyone at NWVH from the front reception to the Vet herself were INCREDIBLY caring and helpful. All of my questions were answered completely. I was given very helpful suggestions regarding my cat's health, and never once did I feel pressured to make decisions. No kitty likes to be poked and prodded at the vet, but everyone who handled her was extremely gentle and loving. I would absolutely reccommend ANYONE to this wonderful veterinary hospital. We have been coming to NW Vet Hospital for more than 10 years now and are very happy with the care that our pets have received. We have seen both both Dr. Maun and Dr. Shuler and they are excellent veterinarians. They are both very professional and compassionate and always take the time to patiently listen to and answer all of our questions. They call us with test results as soon as they get them, explain all of the available options and costs and have never pressured us into anything that that wasn?t the right decision for us. When our cat was in the final stages of renal failure, Dr Shuler took quite a bit of extra time to discuss her medication, treatment and care options with us. We originally came to the clinic because it was close to our home, but have since moved and even though there are vets much closer we continue to use NW Vet Hospital because we know our pets will receive the best care around. I take my dog to see Dr. Gowing. He is very caring and explains things very well. He was able to diagnose an allergy my dog had, which my previous vet had been treating incorrectly, costing my a lot of money in unnecessary prescription medications.
