Dr. Desonier is amazing! She has taken excellent care of my dog and my chinchilla! She has great instincts and cares so much about her patients. We're new to the area, and we have other pets we'll be bringing to her as well for their next check-ups. Can't recommend her enough! The admin staff are always really fast to pass my messages along to her when she is with a patient. They get stuff done so efficiently. I never have to wait for a super long time before Dr. D comes into the room after the techs have checked my critters' vitals. Thank you for taking such good care of my furry family! <3 Read Less

Don't go here! The low office fee is a trap. After our dog was attacked by another dog we went to Companion and was shamed that we didn't bring him in for emergency care. Then the vet told us we should change his apoqual prescription to a higher dose. Then refused to prescribe the medication so we could get it on-line. When I wanted an explanation the Shannon at the front desk said it was illegal for the vet to write another prescription. She got loud and not understanding. If they treat their customers that way, how can I trust they will take proper care of my pet. LESSON LEARNED!!!!! Read Less

Buyer beware. They try to appear to be an economical option. Their vets must be pressured to upsell once they've got you in the door. The exam fee is great, but today they refused to give my healthy, stable senior dog her seizure medication, that she's been on forever, without performing literally $600 worth of lab tests. Ridiculous. And cruel. No reason to give them my business. And by the looks of their empty lobby, they could stand some of my business. 2 stars only because the vet was super nice to my dog before she made her vet tech come in and ask for $600! Read Less

Update: The office manager called, explained that if we cared about our pet we would want to spend the extra money on the blood work. I explained that the front desk just needs to explain the extra charge for older pets if that's their policy... And especially if the customer specifically asks about any extra charges for older pets. She told me they typically don't discuss prices over the phone... We ended up going to the companion pet clinic in Clackamas and the veterinarian there felt the extra charges were not called for either. The dog is perfectly healthy. Has regular dental cleaning. My wife called about getting our healthy dog in for a dental cleaning. They said that they're running a special for $319. My wife explained the age and breed of our dog and asked if that would change the price. (She's an older small dog) They said no only extractions would be extra. So my wife setup an appointment for blood work the next day to prep for the cleaning. When she got there they tried charging her $750 (Including $250 for blood work) because the dog is old! She explained she asked that on the phone and the doctor just shook their head in disbelief. Horrible bait and switch! Be weary of their charges. We got it done at a reputable clinic in Clackamas for half that price. Oh, and I forgot to add. They charged her $34.50 to tell her they're charging more than agreed on. Read Less

I am so irate right now with them, I think my head is going to explode. The girl with the purple hair at the front desk needs to do something else, like pick up poop instead of deal with customers. I have been taking my 2 dogs here for 2 years. My one had an infection in his eye and I was given medicine for him and asked to come in today at 9 so Dr Smith (who had been treating them) could give a quick follow up. I walk in and tell them I'm here (at 9) to see Dr Smith. Well, I don't see your name here and besides she's busy doing dental work. I ask then, why was I asked to come in now? The genius tells me to have a seat and it'll be "a bit". Well whats a bit I ask. I don't know is her response and gave me a f*&k you shrug of her shoulders. I left my business and drove halfway across town to come for this quick checkup. As much as I like Dr Smith and think she's a good vet, I'll take my dogs elsewhere. I've been using this clinic for 6 years and I've witnessed the quality of care slowly go completely downhill. However, in the past 12-18 months it's become questionable if my pets were getting even the minimal care. Management apparently feels the bottom line is more relevant than the proper care of your pet. They always remind you they aren't profiting from the meds but you'll soon come to realize they more than make up for that saving by up selling unnecessary treatments, lying about procedures that need to be done, and charging more than double for some procedures. I also find it really disheartening when the doctors never remember you even when your dogs have been going there for six years. I recently smelled, next morning, alcohol on one Vets breath when dropping in for an early morning office visit. The thing that was 'my personal last straw' was when they wanted more to remove a toe nail then they charged to do a hysterectomy. I walked out never to return. I went to a highly recommended clinic that did the same toenail procedure for LESS than half of what Companion tried to fleece out of me. And, the new clinic remembered both my dogs and my name when I returned for my follow up. One other thing. One of the Vets at Companion flat out lied to me twice. I'd go in to detail but you get the point.Read Less

They knew this and still...who cares though???? I'm going Monday for more medicine, the results of the blood work and my cats records. This is a horrible place to take your pet. We had a wonderful experience at companion in forest grove, so when we moved close to this one we went there. What a night and day difference. First visit was ok, female vet that seemed honest and caring about our babies. ( pets ) second visit OMG, new vet, middle aged bald guy. Right off a used car lot I think. This guy was all about upsell, money, money, money. Started trying to upsell before even touching my dog. Told me we absolutely had to pay him $736 for a teeth cleaning and extraction. Plus a bunch of other med for another $500. What a disgusting human being being allowed to represent this clinic. FYI - we had teeth cleaned and tooth extraction done at honest clinic for $150. This place gives acceptable care for you pets EXCEPT for the older male veterinarian who treated us very poorly. When my cat broke his arm last summer he shamed me for not having thousands of dollars on hand to deal with my cat's injury. He suggested that if I was too poor to afford a cat that I shouldnt have gotten a cat. Our cat was a rescue. He suggested that I take my cat to the humane society with his broken arm and let them deal with him as they see fit. In tears I asked him if there was any other option and he said no. Turns out he was either lying or out of touch with reality . I went to VCA Northwest from the advice of my friends, and not only did they give me a break on my cats surgery, but they helped me get a care credit account to help pay for the surgery. On top of that we were able to run a successful go fund me campaign to cover the remaining balance. My cat is healthy and alive today because I did not trust the advice of this vet and take my cat to the humane society where he would have been euthanized. Needless to say, I use Banfeild now. I had high hopes and had heard good things about companion, but feel that the disrespect from the one doctor was completely inappropriate. Read Less

I know your in a business, to make money, but when I brought in my cat because something is wrong, and after spending 10-15 minutes with him, and coming out to explain your fee schedule, and me explaining that I was low-income and couldn't afford the initial cost ($300.00-$400.00), I felt as though you didn't give a darn about my 14 year old cat, you took my money for the initial visit and sent us on our way. My cat is still having trouble, and I feel that if you really cared, you would of given us some options. His meow is hoarse, he drools a lot (which he never did before), and I'm afraid of losing him...next time when someone brings in their beloved animal, think about how scared they are, and maybe give them some options. Right now he's crying in his hoarse voice, and if I lose him, believe me, I will preach from the rooftops on this experience.Read Less

""Well"" I said, ""You're clinic is named on the coupon, and the coupon doesn't expire for three more months, so why wouldn't you?"" ""Well, we just don't accept them anymore, we've been trying to get our name taken off the coupons, but we haven't had any luck"". I took my dog there for several months, before that I had her with a different vet, she had something that no one really knew what was going on but she would not gain weight in fact she would drop and go into a weak state. The first vet I saw was very argumentative and really snotty to me. I saw another vet and he seemed more workable. My dog seemed to get better with some meds but went into this state again six weeks later, got sick again but in an even weaker state, took her back she was so weak and sick they said, without very expensive test that I cannot afford, they do not know what is happening. I felt she was suffering I asked that they put her to sleep and they would not. This was not something I wanted to do it tore me apart to even ask. I treated her with meds and special foods for a fourth or fifth time. She perked up a bit then got even sicker. Well I took her back an aide came in and told me that one of the staff had offered to adopt her in this way she would get the all the medical help she would need. I said I wanted to think a minute and talk with my son. I called him and he said what ever it takes to help her. I agreed but then the aide hemmed haud around stated she could not take her now due to her circumstances had changed and the other aide could not be reached. then why did they offer in the first place AND in writing? this was within the same hour or two I was there. I asked the girl up front about it and she tore up the contract said that was then not now with a really bad attitude. I asked that they put her to sleep then due to her state they would not agree told me to take her to the humane society if she was still ill the next day and treated me awful I asked for all her paperwork and the girl had attitude when giving it to me. I was so upset as we really did love this animal but could not stand to see what was happening to her. This dog should have had a healthy weight of 40lb and her weight had dropped to 22 lbs so she was nothing but bones and she could not adsorb her food. She got worse through the night diarrhea, throwing up even water, shaking could not stand, and so on it was breaking our hearts, I took her to the humane society they looked at her and her past vet care papers said they could not help and that I was doing the right thing for her at this point she was suffering. Said they could not believe the experience I had with this Companion Pet Clinic. She passed away just before Thanksgiving. Please if your pet has more to be done then shots or a check up do not take them there! Read Less

I saw three different vets. The last guy said the breathing problem was caused by he medication. I was unsure if he had even looked at the file. My dog just got worse. The last time I took him my dog died in the parking lot. I don't even know why. I went a few days later to talk to the vets about what happened. They wouldn't see me without charging me the office fee. Junior was my companion of nine years. A lab mix I expected him to live longer. I am absolutely devastated by this. I don't think there is much communication between the vets. Who you see is haphazard. I just don't think there was enough concern. I am not going to attempt to sue or anything. I think, however, that some responsibility is in order, so that another loved one does not die of what probably was an infection, not a back injury. Read Less

I started at Companion in another city. I had a good experience and moved my animals to this clinic when moving to P-Town. After many good experiences I found out about all the ""bad stuff"" but MY experience had been good so I continued to go there. That stops today. Companions prices have continually gone up over the years and their quality of service has gone down. I appreciate the walk-in appts but I do not appreciate being there for over an hour before being seen by a vet. I do not appreciate that they continually try and ""sell"" procedures to me as they don't seem to appreciate that I am knowledgeable about vet care and have the RIGHT to accept or decline treatment. My recent experiences have left a bad taste in my mouth. Specifically requesting no dis-solvable sutures and then getting them. Requesting no e-collar but when one of my fellow foster moms has to pick-up a dog, being sold one anyways. Not being told that if I wait for my HW test until I get my fosters altered I will SAVE MONEY. Being ""pre-charged"" for a fecal float with out being told that this is going to happen.... And don't even get me started on their bad, BAD attitudes. I understand they may be under-payed but doesn't MY money help them to earn their paycheck? I will NEVER, under ANY circumstances go there again. Just think about the things I don't know about.... Ugh! Read Less

DO NOT RISK TAKING YOUR PRECIOUS ANIMALS HERE! It is just not worth it. This is the WORST CPC I have ever been too. I cannot speak for all CPC's, I can only share my traumatic experience with this clinic and with Dr. Peetz. Please do not learn the hard way like I had to. I found too many uninformed staff, receptionists who were rude and/or would ignore you, seemingly uneducated vet techs AND vets who cannot answer questions or convey important information. And the head hancho running the clinic, Dr. Larry Peetz, was incredibly unprofessional, egotistical, uncompassionate, and seemed to lack basic knowledge of cat behavior! The staff failed to inform me of pertinent details (such as no one is at the clinic for over 12 hours, so whats the benefit of my cat staying in their care?), the staff failed to put my kitty in a secure kennel (the latch was broken!), the staff failed to shut ANY doors in the whole clinic, the staff failed to give him any pain management, this all resulted in my kitty escaping from the kennel overnight and lost for 5 days. Thankfully, he was found in the ceiling in a live trap, alive and relatively well. Meanwhile, Dr. Peetz accused me of not having a good relationship with my cat, attempted to intimidate and belittle me and my situation, tried to put responsibility on my cat for escaping. This is not even the half of it. If you'd like to read more you can read my full reviews on google and yelp. This man have been charged with animal abuse in Oregon and convicted of other crimes in California. His license was suspended in California so seems that he moved to Oregon to keep commiting his crimes. There are countless comments about this man negligence and mental health problems, let alone the way he treats animals and their owners. Do your own research, call the state organization that monitors veterinarians and ask for his record. (Specially California) Better yet, call the attorney who file charges against him in California and Oregon. This man is an animal abuser, there are accusations of stealing dogs, abusing them, making them go throught painfull and unnecessary procedures , disrespecting owners, etc etc If you want to take your kid to a daycare where the owner have been charged with pedophilia, then is either you don't care about the welfare of your child or you just hate your child. Same goes with dogs. Read Less

Read Less

After trying a couple of different vets we finally found one that provides, professional, friendly, and inexpensive service. And, without adding on unneccessary services, or charges. Our puppy, Gidget Ann, is like a family member to us, so we were very particular about selecting a vet. On our last visit she was wagging her tail instead of shaking like she did during our visits to other vets. The staff is very friendly, and knowledgeable. I have to admit I was leery after reading some of the other posts on here, but they provided service above & beyond my expectations. And, without emptying my wallet! Thanks so much!

Though I hope this is one too many bad reveiws to deter you from ever going back there again. If you do, PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Read Less

DO NOT take your pet there. They may be cheap, but you get what you pay for! Each vet will tell you something different. I have had two emergencies and foolishly went there. They told me the pets were fine and sent me home. The very next day they died! The vets are not even graduated from Veterinary School! If you go there you are risking your pets life and your pet is worth way more than that place!! Read Less

Read Less
