I've been coming here for years, so when I write a bad review, it's not from one experience, but from a number of them. In fact, I don't think yelpers should be allowed to write a bad review for a first time visit, but must be consistently disappointed after several visits, as every business deserves a chance to prove themselves. Well, this story was the last straw...I brought in my dog who's been a patient here for maybe 8 years. She had diarrhea and was vomiting. Dr. José Martín, the salesman veterinarian, evaluated her and went through the string of worst case scenarios, a fear tactic that city vets use to up-sell their clients. After his explanation, a gal came in to go over the recommended protocol and the prices. I told her I was a poor college student and needed a discount if we were going to do everything listed. She said she would ask for me and that I could wait in the front, so I did. Less then five minutes later, Dr. Martín came outside to tell me the results of a lighting fast and non-conclusive $264 x-ray that I had not yet approved. Then, when getting checked out, I had a grand total of $724.81. The gal never came out to tell me if the discount was approved or not, and I was not given a chance to decline a number of unnecessary protocols (x-ray, x-ray eval, blood screening, fluids, anti-emetic injection). According to my bill, if I had a say in what my dog needed to get better, I would have only had to pay $145.80. My dog is better, but she is NOT better because of the long list of non-conclusive tests. She's better because she took some antibiotics. Now, Dr. Martín called me an hour later to tell me the radiology report for the x-ray eval as being further non-conclusive - in other words, a futile waste of money. I let him have it on the phone how angry I was. I used the "f" word so he knew how mad I was for being taken advantage of. He didn't try to calm me down or apologize, instead, he rose his voice and yelled at me ,"Your dog is not my problem!" I couldn't believe he said that. So, I hung up the phone. That was two days ago, and I'm still upset about it. I also don't recommend writing bad reviews the day you've been wronged, because generally people get over these things after 24 hours. Well, it's been 2 days, and I don't see anything fair about this situation and thus is worth sharing. No, I am not a proponent of "the customer's always right". Usually, they're actually wrong. But in this scenario, the two details to keep in mind are that they said they'd check for a discount and then charged me an irreversible charge anyway, and that Dr. Martín has not been trained in calming down a customer that he's wronged. Instead, he tells you that his patients are not his problem? Seriously, wtf?My dog is better, but she could have been cured without all the hassle from a place that has better practices. As far as other bad experiences at Rose City, nothing compares to this one, but I've consistently had to pay for more protocols than necessary. And their prices are much higher than the traditional old country vet. So, yes, they're good at helping animals, but unfortunately they're salesmen too. Read Less
