I LOVE Vista and recommend them to all my friends. Really can't say enough about them. They are a perfect fit for us and we travel from inner Portland to go to their location. I had numerous check-ups in the first year after I adopted my dog, I've done teeth cleaning and surgeries there and really have loved the experience. Thanks Vista for always taking such good care of us. I really love the down to earth, personal yet professional attitude you all have! Read Less

We got our lab mix Duke neutered at Vista recently and had a great experience. The rescue organization we adopted our dog from referred us to Vista. The check in process went fairly quickly , and the vet tech that checked us in reassured me and answered all of my questions ( as I was very nervous for our new dog going under !). A week after surgery , I wanted to make sure the incision was healing properly , and stopped in to show them a picture . The front desk woman was very nice and showed the vet the picture , and they said everything looked great . I would recommend Vista , and believe they took great care of our sweet Duke . Read Less

Last summer my dog who was 6 months at the time was diagnosed with Parvo Virus. Despite being vaccinated at the prescribed times he caught some sort of super parvo. The staff at Vista Pet Hospital cared for him for a week and helped him fight the deadly Virus. They came in on days off to ensure my pup got his IV changed and to care for him. They did all of this while helping me contact the vaccine manufacturer to help with cost of treating my pup. I firmly believe without Vista Pet Hospital my dog would have died and I would have been left with a hefty bill to pay. I have since moved across the river but will not take my pets anywhere else. There are a lot of wonderful things to say about Vista Pet Hospital, and I especially liked the service provided by the front desk. However, I want to warn folks that if you have an older animal, you should take them somewhere that provides dental x-rays. We adopted an older stray cat and was told by Dr. Davis that x-rays were too costly to do and that he could tell if teeth needed removing by visual inspection. I also asked to have my cat's ears clean, which was an offered service. When I picked up my cat, the ears were still very dirty - frankly I could have done a better job myself with a q-tip and some mineral oil. It was very clear that no cleaning had been done. The cat's mouth still bothered her, so I googled dental specialists and for only $50 more in cost, I had her teeth cleaned by Forever Pet Dental in Vancouver. Visual inspection by their vet confirmed what the x-rays later proved, that the cat had 2 teeth being resorbed and they needed to be removed. The x-rays also revealed roots of several teeth that had already broken off. The cat came back to me this time with immaculately cleaned ears and also before/after photos of the teeth cleaning which showed clearly that Vista had done a very poor job the first time. I wrote a detailed letter of my experience to Dr. Davis, and he replied without any acknowledgment that they would improve their services. He did, however, refund my money for the teeth cleaning they did even though I hadn't asked him to. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. Read Less

My cat is 11 years old and unfortunately brushing her teeth just wasn't a priority of hers. (And she wonders why she still can't find a cat-panion.) At her recent wellness visit her veterinarian at VCA told her she had two bad teeth and quoted the extractions between $850-$1000+! Yeah, even Callie's little mouth dropped to the floor. How can teeth extractions cost more for animals than humans? Impossible! I did some research, made a few calls, and Vista Pet Hospital won me over. The receptionist was very thorough in explaining the quote for just feline dental extractions, nothing else. You know what their quote was? $131-$331. Uh, yeah, we'll take the next available appointment, please. If I wanted to schedule a consult I could've but they said it wasn't necessary and since we just consulted with VCA I opted to schedule the surgery only.We dropped her off in the morning and picked her up before they closed at 5:30pm. She was very quiet until we got in the car. The over hour drive home was the least enjoyable thing about Vista Pet Hospital's location otherwise I was very satisfied with everything else. Did not have a good experience at Vista. I had just adopted a dog on 12/22, and we needed to have him neutered ASAP. I also let them know I had the neutering coupon from Humane Society Called and made an appointment, told them he had been coughing, had a lot of anxiety, and just needed to be looked at in general in addition to the neutering. When I got there, they just took him away. No examination with me and the doctor, no sit down to ask what was going on with him, nothing. It was like dropping my car off at the repair shop. They called me during his surgery to tell me his back claws were coming off, so they suggested removing them. I had no idea what this meant, but they just told me it'd be best for him in the long run, so I agreed. When I picked him up, they gave me a ton of information, but not much written detail for me to follow up with later. I had to keep calling to ask for clarification. A few days later, I noticed one of his back paws was swollen up twice it's size. They had wrapped the bandages on his back legs so tight that one paw wasn't getting any circulation. I had to take it off, ice it on and off for about an hour, and it eventually went back to normal. I went to a different vet, and they have heard similar reviews about Vista. I'm really disheartened by this, because there were so many good reviews about this place. Maybe this just happens when people use the neutering coupon? At any rate, really bad experience, and we will be taking our pup elsewhere. Read Less

My husband and I have a very old kitty and an adult golden retriever. I had taken my cat to a corporate vet for about 6 years, and the company prices for his increasing care was becoming too much for my modest income. I started taking my cat to Dr. Davis while I was still in my contract with the other guys, and he would do the same work (if it was necessary in the first place) for much, much cheaper. He is very practical with my cat and only does what is needed for my old kitty. We recently found a tumor in his nose, and Dr. Davis removed it quickly, efficiently, and cheaply! He bought us more time, and the other guys wanted 400% more money for the same surgery. I find the office staff helpful and prompt over the phone and in person, and I always get scheduled in a time frame reasonable to the need. I have also boarded my kitty there and have been very satisfied with the care, even on short notice. I will take my next cat to Dr. Davis and skip the corporate prices! Thank you, Dr. Davis! Absolutely APHALLING work. Do NOT go here if you truly care for your pet. This Veterinarian does cheap, sloppy work. Our newly adopted dog will have been under general anesthesia three times for something that should have been done correctly on his first appointment. We adopted our dog from a rescue organization when we visited a local pet supply store. When we got him home, we discovered a mass in his side about the size of a golf ball. We have a regular Veterinarian that we see, but we called the rescue organization because they would cover the health costs up to a certain amount of time. They advised us to go to Vista Pet Clinic. To make things easier on the dog, we wanted the mass and the neutering done at the same time. We requested the following: ""Take out this mass and send it off to see what it is,"" figuring that it was the perfect time with the dog under general anesthesia anyway. When we picked him up, not only did we find he had not taken it out, he didn't even attempt to get a sample. He said he palpated it (felt it with his fingers) and told my husband, ""It's probably just a fatty mass. Don't worry about it."" My Husband was furious that his request was so completely ignored. Two months later the mass was an enlarged, inflamed abscess that obviously had to come out. We took him to our regular Veterinarian for immediate help and medication and to get a second opinion and an estimate on the surgery. Against our better judgment, we went back to Vista for the removal of the mass, because Vista's estimate was significantly cheaper. BIG MISTAKE. Our dog had the surgery and my husband brought him home. The next day, I looked at the wound, which is sizable, and saw there was a lot of swelling and no drainage tube. The ""Vet"" had FORGOTTEN to put in a drainage tube! This is a BASIC step, people! Not only that, but instead of using single sutures, he used one big, long thread and closed the wound with what looked like a whip-stitch. A SLOPPY whip stitch. This stitch is NON-STANDARD for this large of a wound. Because he forgot to put in a drainage tube, and so sloppily closed the wound, our options are now to: 1) Have the wound completely re-opened and re-stitched correctly with a tube in it, or 2) MANUALLY EXPRESS the wound three-four times a day through the hole he left with the sloppy closure. The first option requires a THIRD trip under general anesthesia, and the latter requires us to manually palpate and extremely sore area on our poor dog. God help us if the surgery on the inside is as sloppy as the rest of this work indicates. There are blood vessels in this area of the canine body that supply vital organs. We can only wait and see now. Read Less

I dropped off my beautiful girl to be spayed. She was an awesome puppy, 20 months old, ready to take her therapy dog test in a month. She bled to death after the surgery at the clinic. The Doctor left me a voicemail saying that she had died and how did I want them to deal with the body! I couldn't reach the clinic to find out what happened and spent 30 minutes in agony getting a busy signal. I picked up my beautiful girl's cold body and took her for a necropsy at another facility. I found she had bled to death because the artery suture came loose. In my opinion, I would take my animal to another clinic. I will never see my sweet dog again. I didn't make a big deal about saying goodbye because I read you are not supposed to. I am so sorry we ever came to this clinic. I still miss my dog so much. Read Less

My experiences with Dr. Davis and his staff have been almost completely positive. Sometimes it is hard to get in, but I think that is a testamant to the fact that he has great prices and is a great vet. I do think he is fairly down to earth and pragmatic. For example, I don't think he won't recommend a total hip replacement for an old dog with arthritis. If your dog is like a person to you, on whom you will spend your children's college fund, you might want to go elsewhere. But if you love your animal and live on a budget like most people, he will work with you to find reasonable ways to treat most ailments and conditions. Read Less

I adopted an adorable little puppy that was already scheduled to be spayed or would cost more money to adopt if I didn't keep the appointment that was already scheduled. Needing a rabies shot at approximately the same time. I called and got a price quote about 1 1/2 months before the appointment was due. I was told $17. When I dropped my puppy off for her appointment I was again told $17 for a rabies shot. I just got back from picking her up. When I got to the office to pick her up I was told it would be $20. I paid the money. I felt cheated by the rate hike so I complained. I was told the rates had changed 2 months prior and when I asked why I was quoted a lower price just yesterday they said it must have been a mistake. They still charged me the $20. I told them that I would pay the money but that they should make sure all their employees were aware of the rate change so others wouldn't be inconvenienced. At this point an irate Dr came out and yelled at me! I was told I could have the money back but I was not welcome to return to this office because his employees didn't need to be treated this way. I was dumbfounded. I refused to take the money. I don't care about $3 I care about being lied to and then to be yelled at... I am still almost in tears from anger at being treated so shabbily! No one deserves this kind of treatment! Read Less

A friend located what I thought would be a great deal on a dental with extractions for a rescued cat, an old guy with teeth so bad he was drooling wads of pus. The vet who neutered him said he needed lots of teeth pulled but the expense, for a rescued cat, to be put up for adoption, was like a weight on my shoulders to think about. The friend said Vista charged only $95. This did seem to good to be true, but I signed him up and took him. Afterwards, I began to doubt anything was done. He still drooled strings of brown that were blood streaked. A month later I took him to another vet who said he had some terrible teeth and they needed out. I tried to find out what teeth Vista pulled and was told ""the pointy ones"". Finally the receptionist said three incisors two molars. The records however given the vet who did the second surgery said five incisors, the little teeth up front, that usually fall out on their own when they go bad. I felt scammed. This time, he had four canines, all cracked, broken and decayed, pulled. This is visible to a novice's eye. He also had three other teeth pulled. This happened only two months after the Vista dental. I burned $121 that day at Vista. And put an old cat through needless useless trauma. Read Less

Brought my male cat in to get neutered. Just moved to Beaverton and this was my first time at this vet and thought the check-in was very vague. I was never introduced to the vet performing the surgery..I felt it was a little impersonal that I didn't even know the name of the guy who was cutting my cat open. I took my female cat to Companion Pet Clinic when I lived in Gresham and they were awesome, The vet met with me and gave a consultation before I left my little girl in her very qualified and professional hands. If I would have known that when I picked my cat up from Vista that he would come home smelling of urine and ""spray"" , I would have made the drive back to Gresham. My happy and healthy pup loves Dr. Scott Davis and he treats her like a best friend, too. She was spayed at his clinic recently for an amazingly low price compared to other vets. Just call a few and get comparative prices. There's an online Humane Society coupon that will get your dog spayed or neutered for a low price at Vista Pet Hospital; it cost only $60 for spaying, compared to upwards of $300 at other vets. Dr. Davis doesn't force blood tests on your pet (or budget), either. According to someone in the know, blood tests are not necessary - just moneymakers for vets. So, bring your furry friend to see Dr. Davis for affordable, attentive and honest veterinary care. My HIGHEST recommendation, wish there were more stars available. Read Less

Read Less

NEVER take your pet here!! Too many times other vet hospitals have had to fix the mistakes that these people make. They are irresponsible, unethical, and dishonest with their clients about what is happening with their animals. Just recently they overdosed a cat and then sent it somewhere else without telling the owner. Before that, someone showed up with a dog that wasn't breathing two minutes before closing time, and they sent the person away. Needless to say, the dog died. This place is TRAGIC.

I'm happy to report Callie is doing phenomenal 24 hours post-op!Feline dentistry. $146.Pain Medication. $15.Happy and better smelling breath cat. Priceless. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less
