I worked at a staffing agency right next to this vet, and one day in August of 2017, while I was outside on the phone, a small chihuahua ran by me, scared.to death...as two technicians chased after it...they were literally trying to corner this scared dog at the end of the strip mall I worked at, and I told them to stop and brought over a piece of pretzel I had been eating, knelt down (one of the techs started talking loudly to the dog again and grabbing for it, I told her kindly to be quiet...), and started talking gently to the pup while offering the piece of pretzel. "It's okay bud, it's okay, you're okay, come on buddy..". He came right to me...at that point I handed him back over the techs, who were dramatically panting (from RUNNING FULL SPEED at this poor dog, in a busy parking lot, next to freaking 181st and Halsey in Portland. One of the busiest roads around! I could go on and on...but 1. The fact a vet clinic even let a dog ESCAPE from its facility is ridiculous enough (the owner was not outside at the time...which is weird in-and-of-itself..and lead me to believe the owner wasn't there at all and didn't know this was happening..?) 2. The fact that these CERTIFIED VET TECHS' solution to letting a dog escape was full on Forest Gump chasing it in a REALLY busy parking lot... 3. The way they acted SO relieved once I got the dog back for them was so weird. They were like giggling ..."OMG..thank you!!!" ::panting dramatically and rolling their eyes while laughing::... The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. They have the animal visits spaced so well that there is hardly ever that multiple patients are waiting together, which I feel really cuts down on the patient stress. My whole family bring our assorted fur-family here. Read Less

I had a wonderful experience at Wildwood! From the moment I called to make an appointment to the moment I left. I have a not so friendly dog that was due for all vaccines and had also been limping. When I called to set up the appointment the receptionist was very pleasant and seemed very understanding about my concerns. When I had arrived, we weighed him and went straight into a room, which helped alleviate a lot of stress. When the technician came into the room, my dog got very loud and vocal. They continued listening to my concerns while tossing treats to him to make his experience a little less stressful. Once she was done talking with me, she went to get the doctor. Dr Paul was very understanding when it came to my dog and his not so friendly tendencies. He moved slowly and offered my dog some treats. At this point I could see my dog calming down a little bit. By the end of the exam, the doctor was able to give all vaccines no problem and we left with some meds to help with my dogs limping. But best of all, they were more than happy to give me an estimate before they even did vaccines. I thought that was very cool. I've been to many vets before and by the time I go to check out I'm sticker shocked. Overall a wonderful experience with a wonderful group of people who genuinely care about your pet and their health. Wildwood Animal Hospital has been great to me and especially my little miniature schnauzer. I'm from out of town but have been in the Portland area for work. They took care of all his dental issues and has been so kind to accommodate any changes because we travel often. ALL of the employees have been so caring and kind. Even when it's a quick phone call to let them know or ask anything, they always answer with a kind voice and it's so genuine. Communication is critical beginning at the time the person answers the phone. This is the reason for 1 star, the fact that the staff doesn't understand that calling for an appointment doesn't mean NOT seeing the vet. You really need to trust who you take your furry family to since you're their advocate. This trust was lost when thus woman who is NOT A VET started diagnosing my dog, and recommending treatment. I'm sorry, but don't you have to go to school for 8 years for that? I will make the drive to SW Portland to continue seeing Dr. Davis as his staff would NEVER make suggestions on treatment, that's not their job! Read Less

Such a fantastic staff. They were instantly welcoming and warm. Bentley loved going there today for his first exam. They sent us home with a small bag of food, a month of pet insurance, and a free sample of a monthly pill to prevent worms and fleas. Dr. Paul was knowledgeable and didn't talk over our heads. When we got home we had a concern about our puppy's behavior (we were over concerned and he was just tuckered from the day) the doctor called us back promptly and put our concerns at ease. He didn't make us feel silly or worry worts for calling and asking. They have a happy new patient and 2 very happy owners who will be back for his next exam and shots! I have been taking my furry buddies to Wildwood Animal Hospital for 10+ years. I have always gotten excellent care. Pat, Meghan and the entire staff couldn't be more compassionate and caring.
