Awesome vet clinic! My Chameleon was having an issue and needed to be seen ASAP, Dr. Mills and his staff were quick and accommodating. There are not very many reptile veterinarians in the area, and getting in is not always easy... They were able to get us in same day unfortunately a surgical procedure was needed... and then the following morning we were the first case and it went perfectly! I brought my puppy in 3 times in the course of less than 2 months and every visit he would only be seen by a vet for about 5min, each time being sent home with the same medicine, that was NOT working... I finally decided to get a second opinion and went to Creekside Veterinarian Clinic in Keizer, they gave us an appointment the next day after i called and my poor puppy who had the worst skin infection was cleared up and felt a lot better than he ever did after only his first visit than he EVER did after 3 VISITS here!!! Great Dr's & Vet techs, I felt 80% satisfied with my little girl’s (chihuahua) visit. Except for the fact they tell you to videotape the coughing & gagging she does and email it to the Dr. I emailed him three separate times and he didn’t receive one email. They verified the email address with me but when I told them it’s not retrieving my video it was met with an “oh hmm I don’t know what to tell you” attitude. I asked several times for them to have the Vet see what was wrong and get back to me only to not hear back from anyone. She’s still doing it and I still don’t have an answer. Companion pet clinic is where I take my Service dog. Prices vary according to treatment. Most prices are less than other Vets in this area, without compromising on quality of care. The waiting area is clean as are the exam rooms. Its possible to get a rabbies shot and pay for a dogs license at the clinic.it saves time. . There is always a wait time but appointments aren't necessary and they are open on Saturday. Staff are generally friendly. The vets and assistants were gentle with my pet. They don't push me into extra non needed food items or treatments. Soft sell is nice. I plan to continue taking my Service dog there. Read Less

Please be careful of this clinic.  Our little dog needs a special shampoo.  If she uses anything other than Phyto Vet CK she has a horrible reaction.  We have always been held hostage to buy the shampoo from this clinic as they LIED and told us that it was a "prescription" shampoo. Recently they refused to "refill the prescription" unless we paid for an office call. A family member was very resourceful and found the exact same shampoo on amazon.com. So obviously this is not a prescription shampoo. Why would they lie to us? The good news is we found it very very reasonable Price on Amazon with free shipping. I do not mean to diminish the capacity of this vet to care for a pet, however, I will never trust them again. Once a professional has lied to their clients they do not deserve future trust. I'm not a regular client here but when I had a sick dog that I wanted to get into the vet without waiting for Monday they were absolutely wonderful. It's nice that there's a clinic that's open 7 days a week and that accepts walk-ins. All the staff was friendly and helpful, the waiting room is large and comfortable, and the doctors seem absolutely incredible. They have treated three of my animals here. Years ago I had an indoor/outdoor cat who came home one afternoon with a large wound on her side. Took her straight into companion and they treated her, then showed me in detail how to care for the wound and within a week my cat was back to normal (better then paying emergency fees at a vet hospital, low cost clinic prices even for emergency situations.) My dog regularly goes here for her yearly shots and check ups, and she was chipped at a very low cost. My other cat who was coming up on her 20th birthday had suddenly gone down hill (loss of back legs), I took her in here and no questioned asked they peacefully put her to sleep. The staff was understanding and sympathetic. They are also partnered with a pet cremation company who charges a decent price to be able to keep your pet forever at home with you. I recommend this vet to anyone who wants caring and loving staff to care for their pets, at a very affordable cost! Read Less

My wife and i use this clinic for all our dogs. Se went to the clinic on 4/4/2017 at 5:15pm and was turned away. Our Boston was bleeding out of his penis area and no one cared. They stated it was to late to see a doctor. This clinic is open until 6:pm. We are now forced to take our pet to the after hours clinic. Not good service at all, and no compassion at all for our dog. Is this really a pet clinic? or just a business. I have little faith that it's not about the health and care of our animal. Read Less

Best prices and great service in the Salem area. We used to take our fur babies to a place in Keizer but Companion Pet Clinic is closer and prices are just as good here. Vet Tech staff is very efficient and careful with our year old dog and we are very pleased with the service here. It's a walk-in clinic so that makes it most always convenient with the occasional busy day where you have to wait a bit but is always worth the short wait! Read Less

This place is terrible! They dock dog's tails without your permission! A friend went to companion pet clinic to get her puppy's dew claws removed and the doctors docked the puppy's tail without her permission. The doctor just offered $200 in compensation. As one of the only clinics in my town that takes reptiles, I decided to pop in here so my Russian tortoise could have a wellness check-up (something he hadn't had since long before I got him). Didn't need to schedule an appointment although if you have a reptile or another exotic, it might help to call or email ahead of time to see when Dr. Mills or someone else who's up for checking out an exotic will be in. It's a walk-in clinic and it didn't take me long for me and my tortoise to be seen. Dr. Mills was great and good-humored, good pet-side manner. Appointments and tests are inexpensive- it's about $25 for a basic appointment but didn't cost much more to order a test. All in all, I would definitely recommend paying them a visit, especially if you have an exotic pet that many of the other places in town don't have the capacity or experience to examine. Read Less

I will never go back there again! They conveniently lost blood work. and four days after they took the blood from my dog he died.??? Can't prove anything, but I know something happened when they had my dog in the back without me. Because he changed the moment they brought him back into the room he was not the same. and then died just days later? What's really up? This happened last August And it still hurts today. I would take the one star way but I had to put one here just to be able to put my review up. I go to the VCA animal hospital in so. Salem, it's a little more money but well worth it. There is a professional staff and I believe much better doctors. And they are open 24 seven. If you love your pet don't take it to companion pet clinic !! In my opinion they murdered my pet... We recently moved to Salem and bought a puppy. We didn't know anyone here to recommend us a Veterinarian. While shopping at Petsmart we saw Banfield Animal Hospital. Tried to get an appointment at Banfield for a couple of months but sadly they could not meet our busy schedule. Accidentally I found Companion Pet Clinic and called to make an appointment. I was thrilled to learn that it's a walk - in clinic and we can stop by when convenient for us. Took our puppy in today for shots. The staff was professional and very helpful. Dr Mills is a gem, you can tell he loves animals and his job. He is very knowledgeable and takes his time to answer any questions you might have. I have been coming here forever, back when I was a kid my parents took our pets there and now I take my pets there. The staff is very friendly and the doctors are great! Dr. Mills is awesome, as well as the other doctors! They really work with you, if your paying cash you can usually get a some sort of discount, and they have payment plans as well. I took my small dog in to be spayed on 6/5/2013. She wasn't the same afterwards. She barely ate and on 7/7/2013 she started throwing up and had the runs. Companion pets on Lancaster said that it wasn't their fault when I took her back in on 7/8/2013 they gave me a choice of hospitalization of $400+ or $95 to give her a shot for the dehydration and a shot for antibotics, since I am on a fixed income I took the lesser of the evil and hoped I could get her through this. I babied her all week with baby food and water given by an eye dropper and took her back in on 7/14/2013 looking at the worse of putting her down. She was only 4yrs old and the vet said that if I released ownership that they would do everything they could for her and then put her in a new home. I don't understand this? They couldn't work with me on this? ALL ABOUT THE MONEY and not the animal. Also when you go in, plan on being there at least an hour or more before you even get to see the vet. Read Less

I have been coming to this clinic for 15 years!....almost as long as I've lived in Salem. I tried a couple other clinics because the initial concept of this one seemed to focus on being cheap and accessible, therefore I equated it with poor quality.  I was completely wrong on the last part.All of the doctors who work here are equally affable, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I no longer try to insist on getting the owner, Arthur Mills but look forward to seeing Drs. Julie Rowley and Amber Talley, and have never been disappointed by any other doctor, even a "visiting" one.I have taken cats and rats there and been with friends taking dogs and birds there.  Whether you are the type of person to spend every last dime on your pet or only doing the minimum, the vets (and the techs) here will give you the information and the time you need.  I have never felt they were rushed to get to the next person but had all their focus on me and mine.You can always call just before you are leaving and see if anyone is in the waiting room at that time, but the basic principle is that it can change at any moment, since you don't make appointments.... it's all on a "first come, first served" basis.  Even if there is a wait, the other folks in the waiting room are generally friendly, sharing stories about their pets, letting kids come and see the other pets, reading a book, watching the tv, etc.They definitely are one of the most affordable places around.  That, combined with some of the best pet care around, makes them my "go to" place for my animals. This vet is probably good in an emergency situation, but even if you have an appointment, the wait time is outrageous. I was in the waiting room (no one else was there) for an hour and in the exam room for another half hour, just waiting! The prices are okay, but these people seem to be in it just for the money. I requested that only two x-rays be done on my dog because I could not afford more. They ended up taking three x-rays, charging me for that and then charging me for additional items that they never even mentioned in the estimate. The owner stated that he does not charge for one of the types of x-rays, but the staff did anyway. The staff is rude and everything was very disorganized. I have taken 5 pets to Companion over the last 12 years and the doctors are FANTASTIC!! Agreed, some times the staff can be short on courtesy but being an open-minded adult, I can also see these people are extremely busy and can cut them some slack because of that fact. They DO care about the pets they serve. Their prices are the best I've ever found. My cat got injured and had a broken hip. The cost for her surgery was going to be $600-$700, which I most certainly couldn't afford. The vet said that she would provide her service for free and I would only pay for the facility and medications, which cut the bill in half and allowed my to save my kitty and not have to make her suffer until we could get the money. I would like to say the vet made this agreement because she had only done the surgery at vet school and this would be her first time in the practical setting, basically telling me she was confident in her ability to do it right and would help me out and she would get more hands on experience. My cat is doing awesome and I can't thank them enough for their help. Read Less

Although the vets are good; Doc Glover and Mills, thorough showing they sincerely care, the reception staff is frightening! Rude, disinterested and unprofessional... even gross. The overall interior is not kept clean. The wait is terrible; my average time so far is 85 minutes... that is just the waiting room! THEN you must wait another 30 minutes in the exam room to see a vet. Since the issue with my pup was ongoing I didn't want to change vets however now that it is done I will be finding another. I would not recommend this vet clinic, the people that work at this clinic do not care about the animals that are coming in they just want the money my experience with them was not to good first they did keep us waiting for a long time to see the vet , and when we got in i told the vet what was wrong with my cat and she started squzing on his tummy as hard as she could and when i questioned her she said she had to because they did not have an x-ray machine but on my bill I was charged for a x-ray, my cat had to stay for acouple days to do tests when i picked him up they said he good to go but he was going to need to be on a special diest and here was some samples got my bill and the food was charged on the bill, by that time i did not care i just wanted to get out of the clininc Read Less
