I’m really disappointed with this clinic. I had been taking my puppy to get her shots here till this day. I went in today for her rabies shot and she saw another dog there and obviously got excited and they got upset over that and made me go around the clinic just to get her into a room and to top it off the doctor threw my puppy by the leash! This is a clinic you should not take your dog to!! They never check your puppy and when you have a concern they just come up with something instead of seeing if anything is wrong with your dog!! They also have really bad attitude with you and they try to make it seem like they are giving you free stuff but end up making you pay for it. Yeah they’re prices are affordable but not worth it if you want a good care for your pup!! NOT A GOOD CLINIC and NOT A SANITARY PLACE.

I am very picky about whom gives medical advice & attention to our dogs. Vets who push their corporate sponsored foods, products or medications are not my kind of vet. Hoffman Veterinary respects your pet's right to thrive and in two years going to them, have not had products pushed onto me for my dogs. I love that they respect my dog's set holistic diets and don't look to change it as a means of their healthcare practice. They seem to always try to offer non evasive options first, before diving into medications and/or surgical procedures. Their prices are reasonable given the amount of attention they give you and your pet. They can get very busy, so it's always best to have an appointment and some patience. The staff get to know you and are always pleasant to talk to, if they aren't swamped with patients! We primarily see Dr. Johnson but Dr. Shimek is also available. He did our dog's dental work and they have been doing great ever since! I always recommend them to co-workers or family with pets that want affordable and confident vet care.

We've been taking our pets to Hoffman clinic since the clinic opened. The staff are very, very helpful, even making a house call when we had to have an old dog put down. I cannot say enough about them. The staff work well together and we have always been treated with the utmost professionalism and fairness. I do not agree at all with the two negative posts that are posted here. We have friends and neighbors who take their pets to the clinic and I have never heard anything negative expressed about the staff.

My babies have certain needs and anytime a vet tries to persuade me to change their diet, buy their in house products or argue with me on holistic pet nutrition, I will find a new vet in a heartbeat. I respect veterinarians for their medical training and recommendations as it pertains to the medicinal needs of my babies. Having a veterinarian that listens to you and works with you is important and Dr. Johnson fits the bill! We recently moved to Salem and I needed to find a local veterinarian to see Madonna so we could keep her prescriptions up to date. I am so happy we chose Hoffman's and Dr. Johnson for their care. The staff are friendly, efficient and know their clients. They always seem to be busy, so make an appointment and even then, have some patience. It's just the 2 doctors at the practice. Dr. Johnson listened to me give Madonna's history, didn't try to talk to me about initiating dietary changes, didn't give me a bunch of "doom's day" could happens if I didn't get this procedure or consider getting that one done and they even sent in Madonna's updated scripts! The cost was a fraction of what we used pay in CA!! I feel good about bringing all my kids to Hoffman's for their medical care in our new hometown.

Dr. Robert E. Shimek is a dollar tree vet. Acted very unprofessional with his attitude and body language. Dr. Robert E. Shimek is disrespectful and extremely rude. Did not do any test in regards to the matter, did a visual inspection of the patient and automatically made a diagnosis. Took my pet to Willamette Valley Vet and they performed correct test's and completely different diagnosis. He seemed more interested in selling products rather than worrying about my pet. I'm considering legal action in order to have him shutdown.

I have been taking my pets to Hoffman Vet Clinic for over 30 years. I would never trust my beloved 4 legged family members to anyone else. The whole staff are loving & caring and that means the world to me.
When our 15 year old Dalmatian got cancer, Dr. Shimek gave us his personal cell phone number in case we needed him during times when the office was closed. As it turned out, we did indeed need him on a Saturday afternoon when they were closed. We called Dr. Shimek & he and Sue met us at the office and helped our beloved Nitro cross the "rainbow bridge". They held us while we cried and helped us thru one of the most heartbreaking experiences that we had to go through.
I have recommended Hoffman Vet Clinic to many of my friends for their pets and will continue to do so.

Do NOT go here. The male vet who happens to also be the owner of this clinic is VERY rude. He is not at all professional, had no problem being disrespectful to both my mother and I when we tried to explain why we fed our dogs the diet we do when he asked and then disagreed. The worst part is he barely took five minutes to examine our dog, didn't want to listen to a thing we had to say on why we choose to feed our animals the way we do, which includes prior health problems from kibble. He didn't want to hear any of it! Which he made VERY clear every time he said "I don't have time to argue or discuss your view .vs. my view of your dogs diet for 20 minutes." Then it turned to thirty minutes when he came back to argue more which is when he asked my mother if she could just be quiet for thirty seconds?! He honestly seemed snippy and short from the first sentence that left his mouth, but what started the argument was the sentence "I mean I'll take your money if you want, but she isn't far enough into her season." (VERY UNPROFESSIONAL) We only wanted our pregnant dog X-Rayed. Even if it was slightly early. He obviously doesnt want to take the time too get to know each patient and the owners, never a good sign in ANY kind of health care professional. However the lady's that work there are kind and do amazing job at what they do. Other then that I have nothing positive to say. He also had the nerve to kick us out permanently. Which includes my fathers dog and pretty much my whole family. When it was just my self, my mother and my grandmother at his business this afternoon.

Apparently his way of dealing with this instead of talking to us like we are intelligent human beings was to talk down to us told us NOT to come back even tho Emily takes care of our older shepherd. He had us leave and told us not to come back. How sad that he is allowed to run business like that! I will be contacting the BBB.This Vet should NOT be in Practice he should retire! Shame on you Robert S! Shame on you! We feed our dogs good healthy food, supplement with Vitamins, lots of fresh water. Good Training, tons of love, exercise! all we wanted was to make sure our girl is doing well in her pregnancy! He treated us horribly! I’m really disappointed with this clinic. I had been taking my puppy to get her shots here till this day. I went in today for her rabies shot and she saw another dog there and obviously got excited and they got upset over that and made me go around the clinic just to get her into a room and to top it off the doctor threw my puppy by the leash! This is a clinic you should not take your dog to!! They never check your puppy and when you have a concern they just come up with something instead of seeing if anything is wrong with your dog!! They also have really bad attitude with you and they try to make it seem like they are giving you free stuff but end up making you pay for it. Yeah they’re prices are affordable but not worth it if you want a good care for your pup!! NOT A GOOD CLINIC and NOT A SANITARY PLACE.

I am very picky about whom gives medical advice & attention to our dogs. Vets who push their corporate sponsored foods, products or medications are not my kind of vet. Hoffman Veterinary respects your pet's right to thrive and in two years going to them, have not had products pushed onto me for my dogs. I love that they respect my dog's set holistic diets and don't look to change it as a means of their healthcare practice. They seem to always try to offer non evasive options first, before diving into medications and/or surgical procedures. Their prices are reasonable given the amount of attention they give you and your pet. They can get very busy, so it's always best to have an appointment and some patience. The staff get to know you and are always pleasant to talk to, if they aren't swamped with patients! We primarily see Dr. Johnson but Dr. Shimek is also available. He did our dog's dental work and they have been doing great ever since! I always recommend them to co-workers or family with pets that want affordable and confident vet care.

We've been taking our pets to Hoffman clinic since the clinic opened. The staff are very, very helpful, even making a house call when we had to have an old dog put down. I cannot say enough about them. The staff work well together and we have always been treated with the utmost professionalism and fairness. I do not agree at all with the two negative posts that are posted here. We have friends and neighbors who take their pets to the clinic and I have never heard anything negative expressed about the staff.

My babies have certain needs and anytime a vet tries to persuade me to change their diet, buy their in house products or argue with me on holistic pet nutrition, I will find a new vet in a heartbeat. I respect veterinarians for their medical training and recommendations as it pertains to the medicinal needs of my babies. Having a veterinarian that listens to you and works with you is important and Dr. Johnson fits the bill! We recently moved to Salem and I needed to find a local veterinarian to see Madonna so we could keep her prescriptions up to date. I am so happy we chose Hoffman's and Dr. Johnson for their care. The staff are friendly, efficient and know their clients. They always seem to be busy, so make an appointment and even then, have some patience. It's just the 2 doctors at the practice. Dr. Johnson listened to me give Madonna's history, didn't try to talk to me about initiating dietary changes, didn't give me a bunch of "doom's day" could happens if I didn't get this procedure or consider getting that one done and they even sent in Madonna's updated scripts! The cost was a fraction of what we used pay in CA!! I feel good about bringing all my kids to Hoffman's for their medical care in our new hometown.

Dr. Robert E. Shimek is a dollar tree vet. Acted very unprofessional with his attitude and body language. Dr. Robert E. Shimek is disrespectful and extremely rude. Did not do any test in regards to the matter, did a visual inspection of the patient and automatically made a diagnosis. Took my pet to Willamette Valley Vet and they performed correct test's and completely different diagnosis. He seemed more interested in selling products rather than worrying about my pet. I'm considering legal action in order to have him shutdown.

I have been taking my pets to Hoffman Vet Clinic for over 30 years. I would never trust my beloved 4 legged family members to anyone else. The whole staff are loving & caring and that means the world to me.
When our 15 year old Dalmatian got cancer, Dr. Shimek gave us his personal cell phone number in case we needed him during times when the office was closed. As it turned out, we did indeed need him on a Saturday afternoon when they were closed. We called Dr. Shimek & he and Sue met us at the office and helped our beloved Nitro cross the "rainbow bridge". They held us while we cried and helped us thru one of the most heartbreaking experiences that we had to go through.
I have recommended Hoffman Vet Clinic to many of my friends for their pets and will continue to do so.

Do NOT go here. The male vet who happens to also be the owner of this clinic is VERY rude. He is not at all professional, had no problem being disrespectful to both my mother and I when we tried to explain why we fed our dogs the diet we do when he asked and then disagreed. The worst part is he barely took five minutes to examine our dog, didn't want to listen to a thing we had to say on why we choose to feed our animals the way we do, which includes prior health problems from kibble. He didn't want to hear any of it! Which he made VERY clear every time he said "I don't have time to argue or discuss your view .vs. my view of your dogs diet for 20 minutes." Then it turned to thirty minutes when he came back to argue more which is when he asked my mother if she could just be quiet for thirty seconds?! He honestly seemed snippy and short from the first sentence that left his mouth, but what started the argument was the sentence "I mean I'll take your money if you want, but she isn't far enough into her season." (VERY UNPROFESSIONAL) We only wanted our pregnant dog X-Rayed. Even if it was slightly early. He obviously doesnt want to take the time too get to know each patient and the owners, never a good sign in ANY kind of health care professional. However the lady's that work there are kind and do amazing job at what they do. Other then that I have nothing positive to say. He also had the nerve to kick us out permanently. Which includes my fathers dog and pretty much my whole family. When it was just my self, my mother and my grandmother at his business this afternoon.

We feed raw diet my husband & I did our research before we decided to go raw but like thay say feed your dog not the vet! Apparently his way of dealing with this instead of talking to us like we are intelligent human beings was to talk down to us told us NOT to come back even tho Emily takes care of our older shepherd. He had us leave and told us not to come back. How sad that he is allowed to run business like that! I will be contacting the BBB.This Vet should NOT be in Practice he should retire! Shame on you Robert S! Shame on you! We feed our dogs good healthy food, supplement with Vitamins, lots of fresh water. Good Training, tons of love, exercise! all we wanted was to make sure our girl is doing well in her pregnancy! He treated us horribly! Please do not take your fur baby's or critters of any kind to Hoffman's Veterinary
