The office is so clean and the staff is friendly and welcoming. They even have coffee available. I had basically no wait time and the doctor saw us very quickly after we spoke with the nurse. They were very patient with my dog and helped him feel comfortable before checking his problem areas. We had an emergency with our dog over the weekend. Our dog needed to stay at the vet for a few days to receive iv fluids. Rusty is feeling better, We’re so happy! We were afraid at his age and pain level that we were going to have to put him to rest, but he’s walking around much better and appears happier. Thank you so much, the Vet he used to see never even told us that there was other meds we could try with him. It makes us sad to know that he could have been feeling good this whole time. Also, We just really want to acknowledge the Vet Tech that helped us on Sat., she was wonderful. She was so patient and answered all our questions in such an upbeat manner, it really put us at ease. Even the gentleman at the front desk who checked us out was so helpful. We purchases some teeth cleaner for the dogs but wasn’t sure what to do and he went in back and asked for us and gave us the full instructions on how to do it. Easter last year, I woke up to my Dachshund Tootsie not being able to walk. I called in and Dr Livesay told us she would meet us right away. It was determined she ruptured a disc and pressing on her spinal cord. She immediately made a call to Portland and we rushed Tootsie up there. Quick response and surgery saved her very poor diagnosis. I couldn't be more grateful for Dr Livesay's help and continued therapy. Today Tootsie is doing wonderful, living a very full and happy life. All of the staff are absolutely fantastic as they go above and beyond. Trusting them with my baby is like trusting them with my life and I don't doubt for a minute then I'm going to get good care. My dog had a previous bad experience with another vet with having her nails clipped to where it was very horrific and they said if I brought her back there I'd have to have her sedated. I think they realized that and consoled me and kept me up to date on everything that happened from before surgery and afterwards, when the doctor called me and let me know everything went well and then the next day early to keep me up to date on her and let me know when I could pick her up. This is by far the best experience I have ever had at a veterinary hospital. I will always be thankful that they took such good care of my Luna. Vet listened to us and did not make us feel stupid.  He really payed attention to what I was saying and what we had noticed. Asked our opinion not just talking at us like we didn't know our own dog. Normally we have a good experience at this Veterinary office, not so much lately, front desk not very friendly (stoney faced, deaf, clients try to make conversation and just get a blank stare for their troubles), Construction taking place, contractors and their workers have taken up all parking, nothing set aside for clients and their pets. Other then that, the Veterinarians are quite helpful and seem to care about the animals. Read Less

I have had several after hours calls and the vets have met me at the office as opposed to sending me to Salem to the emergency facility. I'm afraid we did not have a good experience. The vet tech dragged my dog pulling on a leash to get her to get a weight. In the process, my dog got her leg caught on the door and now she has a limp. Vet tech was just rushing and seemed to be more focused on what extras she could sell me. My fault for not stopping the tech and I feel terrible about it. Don't know what she did to my puppy down the hall, but she came back in the room and hid under the bench belly up. She's not that type of dog and she's never done the belly up thing. Most vets I've been to put the scale in the lobby. I had told the vet the dogs were really stressed, and she just seemed to want to proceed as usual. They also messed up my two dogs' records, particularly the rabies record. Had the wrong dog, then the wrong birthday. 1/2 hour later and nearly 5 attempts - no joke - we got it right - at least the rabies record for the dog that got the shot. Other dog's records are still messed up. It has been several years since I've been to this vet clinic and not all previous experiences were that good. I was hopeful things changes - visiting with a routine procedure is a good test, which didn't go so well. In the past we had brought in many dogs. One in particular was having problems with her teeth, older dog. The vet was going to remove them and had said he would look in her nose while she was under. He removed the teeth, but forgot to look I her know. Just forgot. No, gosh we need to find another way to look in her nose. As it turns out, from visiting a more thoughtful and thorough vet, she had cancer in her sinuses and it was really bad! I was hoping to give this clinic a second chance. But just not in the cards for us. The good vets I've had the pleasure to know in the past have a sincere concern for their patients (critters). I never got that impression here. A little upset at SVH. I made an appt for my dog to get his DHLP-PV shot today tellling the gal that he DID NOT need his Rabies booster because he got it elsewhere this year. Well, my husband took him in today and they gave him the Rabies shot and said they will not refund the money because the girl didn't make a note and they provided the service. We live in CA half the year and Silverton the other half and I have to say that without the advise from Dr. Reynolds I don't know what I'd do when here in CA. I trust them completely, which is saying a lot as I don't trust many to take care of our dogs. We recently had a medical emergency with our Pug Maggie. I so wanted to fly up and have her seen by Stayton Veterinary, but her condition did not allow that. Without hesitation Dr. Reynolds was on the phone with me, even though he couldn't treat her, gave me great direction. As far as one review stating the are over-priced, not even close to what you pay in CA for sub-par care. Thank your lucky stars you have a great place to have your pets treated at a reasonable cost. Stayton Veterinary is the best group I have encountered in many years. I first observed the clinics response to an emergency call for a colicky mare at the barn I board my horses at. They came out immediately and did everything they could to diagnose and treat the mare, they also stayed until they saw signs of improvement; to top it off the cost was quite reasonable.
