I have been super happy with the care and treatment that both of my dogs get at Cascade Summit! Everyone on the team - from the front desk, to the vet techs, to the vets themselves - has been wonderful, and I am so grateful. Can't say enough good things about the front office staff, techs and doctors at Cascade Summit Animal Hospital. I have been there frequently in the last year or so with my 3 year old dog Percy who has had some allergies. I appreciate that Dr. Beswick is not quick to prescribe anitbiotics unless it is really necessary and that he is thinking of Percy's health long term and not just a quick fix. Percy is always happy to go into the office. He looks forward to seeing Lindsay f...or a treat as we discuss how he is doing before Dr. Beswick arrives for the exam. I never feel like we're being rushed through but rather really heard and cared for. The front office staff has consistently been helpful and friendly over the phone and in person and I have had to call often at times. When Percy arrives for a shot from the tech he is greeted warmly. I appreciate the small family office feel there and knowing that they are available immediately if a concern comes up. We have had nothing but great experiences with Cascade Summit Animal Hospital. They have always treated all of our pets with love and care, and it shows in the reaction of the pets when going. They are always happy to go and see the staff. We have had multiple surgeries, neutering, spaying, teeth, and even a nose job, in each case I felt my pets were very well taken care of. I have also used them for pet sitting services when I was lucky enough to get availability from a member of staff. Weve been with Cascade Summit for 12 years, and we would never go anywhere else. When we first found Cascade Summit, we were looking for doctors and a practice into whose hands we would feel safe and confident putting our family members lives. Cascade Summit has proven to be that, and so much more, time and time again. Theyve been our rock, our strength, and our support, through the passing of 6 family members and the tumultuous puppyhood of our 2 yr old German Shepherd, Paco, who, incidentally, absolutely loves going to the vet! But what we hadnt realized, when we found Cascade Summit, was that what we were also choosing a people who would become our family, and into whose hands we would be putting our hearts during some of the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. During a recent vacation, Olivia, one of the wonderful staff members at Cascade Summit, pet sat our beloved hamster, Delilah, for us. Halfway through our trip, Olivia called to tell us that Delilah, who had been recovering from an unknown illness, had taken a turn for the worse. It was well after Cascade Summit had closed for the day, and Delilah wasnt even a patient of theirs, as they specialize in dogs and cats. But Dr. Beswick offered to stay and see Delilah anyway. Because he and Olivia knew that Delilah was not just a hamster, but a very precious and beloved family member of ours. Dr. Beswick stayed three hours late, so that he and Olivia could take care of Delilah. And when he determined that Delilah was dying and in pain, he gently euthanized her while Olivia cradled her in her arms. Dr. Beswick and Olivia held our hearts in their hands that day, and gave us a priceless gift that we will always treasure - the comfort and solace of knowing that as our precious Hammy-Ham breathed her last, she was in the care of people we know and love, people who have known and loved us and all of our family members for the last 12 years, and not with a stranger at an emergency clinic. She always answers any questions I have, and makes accurate recommendations, whether it's dog food, toys, or dental questions. Fantastic vet clinic. Dr. Joe Beswick is kind, patient, thoughtful, and thorough. His demeanor with animals is excellent (and we have a nervous dog). He works through medical issues diligently and explains things thoroughly (even emailing additional educational materials for us to read). It's clear that he's invested in all his patients. I have been a client of Dr. Ortner?s animal hospital for many many years after leaving a clinic that treated my dog?s health care as secondary to the business they were in. I do understand vets who are in the "business" of animal care versus those like Dr. Ortner who love all animals and have their best interest in mind. Dr. Ortner and her staff always took excellent care of my dog and when we would arrive for a visit we were greeted as if part of their own pet family. In this past year especially as my dog battled bone cancer I could not have asked for more compassion always ensuring his care and comfort were top of mind. I did try heroics including surgery, radiation and chemo (they don?t get sick like people) and while Dr. Ortner would keep an eye on his daily well being she recommended his treatments be done by local specialists that she has relationships with to give him the best chance possible. Right up until his last day I had the support of people who genuinely loved my dog, who made that last good bye as special as it could be and even held a memorial service because so many staff were touched by his passing. So as I contemplate now getting another puppy there is no question that my next little guy will have the absolute best care for a healthy life. I refuse to compromise quality, and I will drive far if I need to in order to achieve this. Most veterinarians I have worked with before, pre judge their clients. They base their recommendations on what they think the client will be receptive of. This means withholding information from clients that may be a better choice for the pet, because they think the client will not be receptive to the price. Or some places offer services that are not necessary for the health needs of the patient, because they think the client is financially stable and trusting. My pets are my babies. I will do anything for them that they need. I strongly believe that once I choose to become their caretaker, the solemn responsibility is mine to provide for them all their needs. I also have a budget that I need to work in. The doctors and staff at Cascade Summit completely understand this and have wonderful communication with me about where I am coming from and what I would like for my pets. They are also honest with me. If I ask for something that from their experience may not be the best choice for my pet, they will tell me. They also provide very best of everything at their facility. You can have a big heart, but if your equipment, standards of care, or medications are outdated, it’s not very helpful. There were also unexpected bonuses that I received here as well! These people care more deeply than any other place I’ve been. They care about both the pets and the clients. Money is needed to provide optimum care. But what comes across is friendship! I have talked to other clients who’s pets have passed away who still come and visit the hospital to say hello or get together with some of the staff for coffee just to catch up. How wonderful! On top of that, they have an amazing holistic veterinarian who has a following of faithful clients who even come from out of state to see her. Even though I have to drive an hour to get to Cascade Summit Animal Hospital, that is no sacrifice for me to get such complete and perfect care for my babies. And if you have heard rumors that this place is expensive, it’s just not true. You can’t compare apples to oranges and expect the same price. You get what you pay for. We LOVE this vet clinic! Our first experience, more than three years ago, to the clinic was by referral to see Dr. Lauren Chattigre for alternative treatment options for our senior cat. Dr. Chattigre was GREAT - providing advice, empathy and treatments that gave our special ""Maxi-Max"" non-evasive care that extended our time with him. She always focused on his quality of life and never suggested procedures and/or treatments that were not in line with our objectives, both for his comfort and our budget. My husband and I agree that if faced with another tough diagnosis we would consult with Dr. Chattigre. We never intended to leave our original vet clinic for regular care, but we were so impressed by Dr. Ortner, Dr. Lawson and the staff at Cascade. We noticed a big difference between the corporate owned clinic we were at vs. the decisions and management style Dr. Ortner has being independently owned. We quickly decided to change and make Cascade Summit our only choice for the care of our two dogs and now new kitty. EVERY person there knows us and our four legged family members. I have been dog owner all my life, and I have never been to a vet's office that did business like this one. In the last year, I have spent $4000 on my two dogs at this office, all because they keep me pushing me to doing more and more tests. When I recently turned one test down, they to me, ""So you're not interested in knowing how your dog is doing on the inside?"" Here are some examples of what they talked me into at my last visit. They talked me into cornea testing for my dog, because my dog has eye goobers (no more than usual or normal). This cost me $70. Of course, it came back negative. They still prescribed antibacterial drops, ands talked me into buying them. Then they talked me into a bacterial test on my dog's ear wax, simply because he has ear wax, but no more than usual or than normal. He is ten years old and has never had an ear infection. Of course, he didn't have one. They still talked me buying ear drops on top of his ear cleaner. I got out of my dog's checkup spending (by far) the least I have ever spent at this office: $210. I could have easily spent $500. I am, obviously, switching vets. Read Less
