AFTER AN X-RAY CONFIRMED THAT SHE INDEED HAVE A BROKEN LEG, THE TECH TOLD ME THEY WERE GOING TO DO A BLOOD TEST!! AT WHICH POINT I STOOD UP AND SAID, WHY IS A BLOOD TEST NECESSARY FOR A BROKEN LEG, I NEED TO KNOW RIGHT NOW, SERIOUSLY I NEED TO KNOW RIGHT NOW!!! THE TECH WAS CLEARLY CAUGHT OFF GUARD, I SAID AGAIN WHY WOULD A DAMN BLOOD TEST EVEN BE ORDERED FOR A BROKEN LEG?? STUTTERING BIG TIME SHE SAID AND I QUOTE" AH, AH, AH, UM WE JUST WANTED TO SEE HOW FAR HOU WERE WILLING TO GO". NO SHIT,CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS !!! ITS THE ABOLUTE TRUTH, NO LIE. SHE THEN LEFT THE ROOM QUICKLY. IMMEDIATELY DR. LEVI, WHO MYSTERIOUSLY GOES BY ANOTHER NAME THAT ESCAPES ME, ENTERED THE ROOM,AND TOOK NILLA FROM THE ROOM. HE RETURNED TWENTY MINUTES LATER,AND BEFORE I COULD EVEN SAY A WORD BEGAN TELLING ME THAT HE HAD GIVEN NILLA VACCINATIONS,AND OTHER INJECTIONS AT NO CHARGE, I WAS THANKFUL FOR THAT,AND KEPT MY MOUTH SHUT. I KNOW, DUMMY, BIG TIME DUMMY, BIG TIME!! HE SCOOTED FROM THE ROOM QUICKLY, LIKE A FUCKING WEASEL. THEN ANOTHER GIRL ENTERED,AND SAID I WAS DONE. I WENT TO THE DESK, AND MY BILL WAS AROUND 25 DOLLARS. FOR X RAYS AND THE SUPPOSED INJECTIONS. UNBELIEVABLY I LEFT WITHOUT SAYING A WORD AGAIN, LIKE A BIG STUPID ASS, DUMB ASS, FREAKING DUMMY!! FAST FORWARD A FEW YEARS NOW I JUST RECENTLY WENT BACK THERE, THINKING THAT THEY MAY GIVE ME A GOOD DEAL, LIKE THE PREVIOUS VISIT A FEW YEARS AGO. NILLA OVERNIGHT HAD BECAME RADICALLY SICK WOULD NOT EAT, OR DRINK, AND COULD BARELY EVEN WALK. I HAD FOUND A TICK THAT WAS ENGORGED WITH BLOOD ON HER. AFTER RESEARCHING LYME DISEASE, I HAD FIGURED THAT'S WHAT SHE HAD, THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME THINGS SHE WAS EXHIBITING. I TOLD THE STAFF AT VCA FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC ABOUT MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, AND THEY BETTER NOT TRY TO SCAM ME THIS TIME!! IN THE EXAM I WENT, THE SO CALLED DOCTOR ENTERED WITH A SOMEWHAT BOTHERSOME ATTITUDE,AND I TOLD HIM WHAT I PRESUMED NILLA HAD. HE BRISKLY LOOKED HER OVER, DIDN'T KNOW IT AT THE TIME THAT SHE HAD MYOTREA, AS WELL AS A HEART MURMUR, NEITHER OF WHICH WERE TOLD TO ME, AND WENT COMPLETELY UNDIAGNOSED. HE THEN TD ME PROUDLY THAT AN X-RAY WASN'T NECESSARY,AS TO ACT LIKE HE WASN'T GOING TO SCAM ME,AND PRESCRIBED AN ANTIBIOTIC. JUST ONE, THE VISIT COST OVER 80 DOLLARS, WHICH I GLADLY PAID. AFTER GIVING HER ALL OF THE PRESCRIBED ANTIBIOTIC WITH NO IMPROVEMENT, I CALLED VCA FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC, TOLD THEM NILLA HADN'T IMPROVED AT ALL,AND WAS WORSE, AND COULD THEY GIVE ME MORE OF THE SAME ANTIBIOTIC? AFTER SOME TIME THEY RETURNED MY CALL, AND TOLD ME THE DOCTOR APPROVED MY REQUEST, I WENT BACK AND GOT THE MEDICINE. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS THE DISCHARGE HAD BECOME NOTICEABLY MUCH WORSE, NOW IN A COMPLETE BELIEF THAT MY DOG NILLA WOULDN'T MAKE IT I TOOK HER BACK FOR A BLOOD TEST, AND SO CALLED FLUIDS. I WANTED TO ACCOMPANY THE TECH IN THE EXAM ROOM, SHE REPLIED, NO THAT I COULDN'T. SOMEWHAT FRUSTRATED I COMPLIED AND SAT DOWN. IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES, SHE RETURNED WITH MY DOG NILLA. SHE THEN SAID NOT TO BE ALARMED IF I FELT A BULGE ON THE BACK OF THE NECK AREA. WHILE SHE WAS STILL HOLDING NILLA I FELT FOR A BULGE, AND DIDN'T FEEL ANYTHING. I WENT HOME AND CONTINUED TO FEED NILLA FOOD AND WATER, SHE WAS NOW AT 4.1 LBS. ANS I HAD BEEN FEEDING HER THROUGH A SYRINGE NOW FOR 10 DAYS. I WAS TOLD BY THE TECH THE RESULTS WOULD BE IN A DAY OR TWO. THREE DAYS PASSED WITH NO CALL FROM VCA FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC!! I THEN CALLED THEM, THE RECEPTIONIST WAS LOOKING INTO MY RESULTS, THIS TOOK A FEW MINUTES AND IT SEEMED LIKE HE WAS UNABLE TO FIND THEM, EVENTUALLY HE SAID, OH YEAH HERE THEY ARE, THERE NEGATIVE. NOW BELIEVING THEY SCAMMED ME AGAIN. FROM THERE I WENT TO BANFIELD AT PETSMART IN ROBINSON, DR. ANIT PROMPTLY SAW NILLA, THEN TOLD ME SHE WAS ALMOST CERTAIN NILLA HAD PYOMETRA, RECOMMENDED BLOOD WORK,XRAYS AND FLUIDS. SHE GAVE NILLA THE FLUIDS, BUT I COULDN'T AFFORD THE EX-RAYS OR BLOOD WORK. SHE THEN TOLD ME IT WOULD COST 1200 DOLLARS FOR EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE SURGERY. THEY THEN GAVE AN APPLICATION CREDIT APPROVAL. NOW THE FLUIDS BULGE ON NILLA'S BACK WAS AS BIG AS A SOFTBALL. COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE OF FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINICS SO CALLED FLUIDS INJECTION. I WENT HOME, AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC,AND ASKED TO SPEAK TO MANAGER TOLD THEM MY NAME AND WAS LEFT ON HOLD FOR OVER 6 MINUTES. I HUNG UP PISSED OFF AND CALLED BACK. THIS TIME AGAIN FOR OVER FIVE MINUTES ONLY TO BE TOLD "SHE WAS IN A MEETING" I SAID I KNOW SHE'S NOT IN A MEETING,AND EXCLAIMED TO PUT HER ON THE PHONE, SOME HOW HER MEETING MUST HAVE BEEN OVER,AND PICKED UP THIS TIME. AMAZING ISN'T IT? I THEN TOLD HER I KNEW THAT NILLA HADN'T BEEN GIVEN FLUIDS AND PROBABLY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A BLOOD TEST AND I WANTED MY MONEY BACK, SHE THEN REPLIED, I WILL LOOK INTO IT AND GET BACK TO ME. WHICH SHE NEVER DID. THE FOLLOWING DAY " DR. LEVI " CALLED ME, ANNOUNCED HE WAS THE CLINICAL DIRECTOR ( NOTICE HOW THE LETTERS IN LEVI ALSO CAN SPELL EVIL) AGAIN I TOLD HIM OF MY SUSPICIOS. HE SAID HE WOULD OFFER TO SEE NILLA AGAIN,THIS WAS A FRIDAY LATE AFTERNOON.HE PRETENDED TO ACT LIKE HE WOULD SEE HER THAT DAY, BUT QUICKLY CHANGED THAT TO 8:30 AM MONDAY MORNING. LUCKILY NILLA HAD A CASE OF OPEN MYOTREA, WHERE THE INFECTION DRAINS FROM HER VULVA,AND I HAD BEEN GIVING HER AMOXICILLIN THAT I HAPPENED TO HAVE ON HAND. I TOOK NILLA THERE MONDAY MORNING,WAS PUT IN AN EXAM ROOM. PROMPTLY THE " DOCTOR LEVI " ALONG WITH THE CLINICAL MANAGER STEPPED IN. I TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED WITH INCIDENT AND KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON.THEY STEPPED OUT BRIEFLY RETURNING WITH AN ESTIMATE RECOMMENDING A BLOOD TEST AGAIN ALONG WITH AN X-RAY, COSTING OVER FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! WHICH I DIDN'T HAVE. AGAIN I LET THEM KNOW I KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING THERE, AND KINDLY ASKED IF THEY PERHAPS, START A PROGRAM OF HELPING PEOPLE IN NEED MAYBE ONCE A MONTH IN WHICH THEY MIGHT OFFER THERE SERVICICES AT A NOMINAL FEE. QUICKLY THE MANAGER RESPONDED, WE GIVE ENOUGH TO CHARITY, I REPLIED IT WOULD IMPROVE YOUR IMAGE MAYBE IF YOU TRIED IT, I WAS NOW TOTALLY DESPERATE IN NEED OF IMMINENT SURGERY FOR NILLA AND THOUGHT PERHAPS THEY MIGHT, AFTER KNOWING THEY RIPPED ME OFF,AS WELL AS PROBABLY THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE IN ALL THE YEARS THEY WERE PERPETRATING THIS SCAM. I WAS QUICKLY TURNED DOWN. I THEN SAID ,LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION, WHY ARE THERE PEEPHOLES IN THE DOORS OF EVERY EXAM ROOM? IMMEDIATELY THE MANAGER SCOFFED" DOING WORRY ABOUT " OUR OPERATION HERE ". I THEN ASKED WHY WAS THERE A TELEPHONE WITH EAVESDROPPING CAPABILITY IN EVERY EXAM ROOM AS WELL? THE MANAGER WAS NOW VISIBLY IRRITATED WITH ME, AND AGAIN REPLIED " DON'T WORRY ABOUT OUR OPERATION HERE ". I THEN SAID I WAS GOING TO EXPOSE THEM AND THERE OPERATIONAND ASKED IF I HAD TO PAY FOR THE VISIT, EVEN KNOWING IT WAS " OFFERED " BY DR. LEVI. IT WAS CLEAR THAT DR. LEVI WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR THE VISIT, HE THEN LOOKED AT THE MANAGER AS TO GET HER APPROVAL. SHE SAID MISERABLY ' JUST GO, JUST GO!!!" AND I LEFT. PLEASE EXPRESS YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS, AND IF YOU EVER NOTICED THE PEEPHOLES IN THE DOORS, AND YOU NOTICED THE PHONE, THAT IS CAPABLE OF EAVESDROPPING??? ITS THERE SO THEY CAN SEE,AND HEAR HOW YOU LOOK AS WELL AS THE AMOUNT OF DISTRESS THAT YOU, , PERHAPS YOUR CHILDREN,AND FAMILY, ARE IN . FOR THE SOLE REASON OF GREED!!!! IN A TIME WHEN YOUR PET NEEDS THERE HELP!!!!! UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE!!?? TOTALLY UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE!!! PEOPLE OPEN YOUR EYES FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! THIS TOTALLY UNETHICAL AS WELL AS PROBABLY CRIMINAL, MUST BE STOPPED. IF YOU HAVE BEEN FINANCIALLY RAPED BY VCA FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC, PLEASE SPEAK UP! POST YOUR STORY IN COMPLETE DETAIL LIKE I DID!! IM GOING TO THE DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE IN BEAVER TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THIS UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE ATROCITY BEING PERPETRATED ON THE UNSUSPECTING PATRONS OF VCA FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC. PLEASE DO THE SAME!!! PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL VETERINARY CLINIC THAT IS NOT PART OF VCA CORPORATION. THEY WILL FORCE THE REAL VETERINARIANS WHO ARE HONEST OUT OF BUSINESS, WITHOUT A DOUBT OR CONCERN!! JUST MORE CORPORATE GREED AT ITS BEST DESCRIPTION!!!!!!! OH YEAH, I TOOK NILLA TO THE HUMANE ANIMAL RESCUE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF PITTSBURGH,WHERE THEY TRULY HELP PETS AND PEOPLE IN NEED, REGARDLESS WHETHER THEY HAVE THE MONEY OR NOT. DR. ARIELLE SAMSON IMMEDIATELY OPERATED ON NILLA!, FOR MY DONATION OF 136 DOLLARS, WHICH INCLUDED THE SURGERY,ALL ANESTHENICTS, MEDICINE AND FOLLOW UP CARE IF NECESSARY. GOD ANSWERED MY PRAYERS!! The nail is hanging and my dog is clearly in pain and bleeding. They refuse to see her until Monday. It is Saturday. I'm the daughter of a retired veterinarian; I worked in his practice. So when Dad retired and I had to find a new vet, I decided to check out this clinic. I'm glad I did! They are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The staff obviously adores their patients and enjoys their jobs. The clinic is clean and well laid out. And their prices are very reasonable! I was so relieved to find this gem, which is literally 5 minutes away from my home! What luck! Read Less

Worst experience we have ever had with a vet clinic. The lady doctor miss diagnosed our dog. The owner had to step in and make sure we did not give or dog any of the medications she prescribed. When I ask them to take back over $100 of the wrong medicine they gave us they refused. The owner continually told me how concerned he was and ask me to call him several days later to check on our dogs progress. That was 5 months ago and still have not received a return phone call. I would highly recommend you find somewhere else to take care of your pet. Since you wrote me a very threatening and classless letter and then decided to respond on line thought I would respond in kind. We would never return to your clinic for any reason ever. The attitude adjustment that needs to take place belongs to you. We have been clients of your practice for 12 years. Seems to us the professional response should have been how can we make this right.Your defense of your associate is the only commendable action we have seen you take. Even though you and I never had a conversation about Dr White. You met with my wife not me. Your records apparently are about as accurate as your doctors diagnoses. Not only did I call you on Wednesday night as we agreed but drove to your clinic with the medicine that was wrongly prescribed by Dr White. Your office refused to take the medicine that you , Dr Bell ,agreed to take back. Again I asked your office personal to have you call me so we could discuss it.The only person this falls on is YOU!!! You can bury your head in the sand but I too keep accurate records of all phone calls and discussions. Still waiting 7 months for those phone requests to be returned. Guess the truth hurts!! The absolute worst, will never use these people again. Wonder about there hiring process 2 vets both incompetent. One was so bad that the owner told us to make sure we did not give our dog any of the medicines prescribed by his associate. Then refused to take the medicine back. The owner then took over care and repeated many times how concerned he was about our dog. Ask me to call him on Wednesday and 6 days later still has not returned the call. Must have been real worried. What a joke!! We took our older dog in for his annual physical and shots...the vet did not check him at all I had to ask if he would check his ears, teeth and heart. Our vet in Florida informed me this winter he had a fairly serious heart murmur. I mentioned this to the vet at Five Points, he looked through the records and said oh yes we knew he had a heart murmur years ago. I told him I was never informed about it and he replied they don't always mention it if it's not serious. Hope we will find our beloved pets a caring veterinarian. Read Less

The staff here is always friendly and I never have to wait long. My 1 year old dog has visited with three of their doctors, now and all are knowledgeable, friendly and thorough. Many years ago, I had two pugs who were misdiagnosed by other veterinarians for 2 months, which felt like a lifetime. When I finally tried Five Points, the doctors there knew, (almost immediately) the proper diagnosis and recovery began. I highly recommend this clinic! Read Less

I have been coming to Five Points for almost 13 years now. All of the doctors have been well with the exception of one. But Dr. Boswell...well he is truly an Angel. He has brought my Dommie back from the clutches of death in as little as 24 hours. The staff is excellent and Dr. Levi is also a great doctor as well. I would and do recommend Five Points to all of my Friends and Family. it may be a little costly at times but because of Five Points, my German Shepherd is almost 13 years old and my 4 yrs old cat is still alive. Dr. Boswell is Brilliant surgeon!!! he operated on my 3 year old dog Zoey for bladder stone removal...I adore him! methodical, thoughtful and takes his job beyond serious.. Kristen, office manager awesome too...she coordinated a payment plan to make it easier to pay vet bills!! front desk staff always professional and kind. : ) even when they are busy multi tasking with phones etc they remain cordial to people at the desk never abrupt or rude! My regular vet referred me to Dr Boswell at Five points for my Jack Russell who had developed a mast cell tumor. She told me though she could do the surgery herself, Dr Boswell had far more expertise with this kind of tumor and my dog's chances were best having Dr Boswell do the surgery. The staff was very kind and supportive. We were seen in a timely manner and the Dr explained what he had to do in layman's terms so I fully understood what was involved. We were given a written estimate lowest cost to a possible high. The surgery was scheduled within a few days and my dog was taken in as appointed. The surgery was done an we were called to give a status report and a pick up time was given. We arrived on time, picked up our dog,who looked remarkably well considering to seriousness of the surgery. We were given clear instructions on how to care for our dog and the charges were within the estimate...the low end. I have dealt with an other veterinary hospital in the past, a good one albeit, but Five Points was the better experience. Thank you to Dr Jane Keenan, my wonderful vet. My name is Kristen and I am the practice manager at Five Points Veterinary Clinic. I will never speak specifically about a client or pet that has been to our practice, so I can only respond to a few points in this review. 1) Heartgard is safe for Collies. Check with the manufacturer of Heartgard. Historically, ivermectin, the active ingredient in Heartgard, was being used on large farm animals. Farm dogs, which are most often collies or herding dogs, were given lethal doses of ivermectin because farmers were treating their dogs with the same dosage they were treating cows. This is what caused the URBAN LEGEND about Heartgard being unsafe for collies. I would venture to say that Heartgard is the most popular heartworm medication around the world and it didn?t get there because it kills dogs. 2) I would never trust a professional in any field that said that all of his colleagues are running a racket by recommending something. If that professional was in the medical field, I would run away as fast as possible. Heartworm disease is horrible. Google it and check out the photos. Furthermore, heartworm preventatives like Interceptor also treat intestinal parasites such as roundworm, whipworms, and hookworms. 3) Veterinary professionals use products that are developed and manufactured by reputable pharmaceutical companies. You may find similar products sold at other retailers that supposedly do the same thing as the ones sold exclusively in veterinary clinics and hospitals. They are cheaper and for good reason. Veterinarians and scientists have determined that these products do not meet the standards of good health care. So the manufacturers of the substandard products find another outlet for the product and reduce the cost. You get what you pay for. 4) I will agree with the reviewer that pet care is expensive. It is particularly expensive if you compare it to human healthcare where you only pay co-pays and never see itemized bills. Throw veterinary bills on top of the costs for food, kitty litter, toys, grooming, classes, leashes, etc. and the cost is staggering. However, I hope that the vast majority of people understand this when they bring a pet into their lives. At the end of the day, I think we can all agree that they are worth every sacrifice we may have to make to take the best care of them. 5) Lastly, our staff is full of kind and loving people. It is an honor to know them, let alone work with them on a daily basis. We are respectful to our clients. Most, but not all, clients are respectful to us. On a rare occasion, we do encounter people who try to bully and abuse us and this will never be tolerated. If we don?t like bullies in junior high, why should we give them license to abuse in the workplace? We are a really good practice. I know this because we are currently running a client satisfaction survey through a third party. I see the results. Our clients love us. They recommend us to their neighbors, family, co-workers, and friends. I am not saying that we are perfect - there is always room to grow and things to improve. We?re a work in progress and I hope that we always feel that way because that means we will just keep getting better and better. Read Less

My first experience 2 years ago with this vet was that I waited an hour to see the vet, while they took at least 3 appointments scheduled after us, before taking us and when we said something we got attitutide and a ""whoops"". Then, they perscribed my Collie Heartguard, which is poisonous to Collies and I gave it to her for 6 months before trying to refill the scrip online and reading about it and finding that out. I swore to never go there again and wrote them a strongly worded letter. They should have known that Collies dont get Heartguard. 2 years fast forward to 2 weeks ago. We decide to take the Collie up there for her yearly exam and shots. My husband forgot the vaccination records from our other vet and he told them he was going to call and get them. They took Daisy into the back room for whatever and when they came back with her, they had already revaccinated her for everything to the tune of $60 extra dollars. Even though he told them he was going to call and get them, which he did. Then, turns out that she somehow has Whipworm! We have no idea where or how she got it, not even convinced she does have it and they werent totally scamming us. She now needs to be wormed, heartworm tested (I stopped giving her the Heartguard and another vet told me not to put her on Heartworm medicine because it was just a way other vets scam you out of money and there is only like a 1% chance of her ever getting it) and then put on Interceptor (Heartworm and other parasite drug) for basically life. Whipworm gets in your soil and they just keep reinfecting themselves. We already paid for the office visit there, so we have to stay going to this and get the issue solved or pay another office fee somewhere else. We think we have it solved and decide not to go elsewhere. At any rate, this is all fine and dandy and we have to take BOTH dogs to get Heartworm tested. My husband calls and specifically asks several times how much it would be. They insisted $80. When I get up to pay, they charge me $186!!!! I asked why and said no way, but they said its $106 for the SIX worming pills they are giving me. My husband and I were irrate, but what was I to do? I paid the bill and left. The next day we called our old vet and he said that he would have perscribed a powder and it would have been $36. We called and tried to find out why we werent given that and they had no answer. Were totally rude, didnt want to talk to us, couldnt give us a reason for giving us a $70 more expensive drug and not even offering us a choice. When hubbie said we wanted something done or we would go to another vet, the response he got was ""Good Luck at another vets"" and she hung up. We feel completely scammed. They tricked us into coming back there, they tricked us into spending 3x what we should have had to and when we got upset they were completely disrespectful, rude and did not care at all that we were unhappy customers. Stay away from this place. You will be ripped off, this is their normal everyday practice. Ripping people off. Read Less

We have tried to work with this clinic but for the most part they seem to care about the dollar more than the animal. We are not new to animal care (we care for more that 12 animal friends) and after now using this clinic for several occurrences find them to be below average in what we feel veterinary care and service should be. The vets can be personable but that is about the extent of it. Two recent instances where specific dosage prescriptions (liquid) were bought and paid for, there was not enough medication to complete the regimen. When we tried to get enough medicine to ?finish? what we started, was prescribed and paid for, one of the vets (who never saw or examined the animal) told the staff we needed to continue the meds for another week. The only reason for this maneuver was so that they could charge us for another full bottle of medicine. Personnel?s attitude gets to be curt and short when questioned, phone calls are not returned in a timely manner and in general very poor attitude and service. We have no grudge with this vet but find them to be more concerned with the money than their clients and client?s owners. Read Less

AFTER RESEARCHING LYME DISEASE, I HAD FIGURED THAT'S WHAT SHE HAD, THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME THINGS SHE WAS EXHIBITING. I TOLD THE STAFF AT VCA FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC ABOUT MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, AND THEY BETTER NOT TRY TO SCAM ME THIS TIME!! IN THE EXAM I WENT, THE SO CALLED DOCTOR ENTERED WITH A SOMEWHAT BOTHERSOME ATTITUDE,AND I TOLD HIM WHAT I PRESUMED NILLA HAD. HE BRISKLY LOOKED HER OVER, DIDN'T KNOW IT AT THE TIME THAT SHE HAD MYOTREA, AS WELL AS A HEART MURMUR, NEITHER OF WHICH WERE TOLD TO ME, AND WENT COMPLETELY UNDIAGNOSED. HE THEN TD ME PROUDLY THAT AN X-RAY WASN'T NECESSARY,AS TO ACT LIKE HE WASN'T GOING TO SCAM ME,AND PRESCRIBED AN ANTIBIOTIC. JUST ONE, THE VISIT COST OVER 80 DOLLARS, WHICH I GLADLY PAID. AFTER GIVING HER ALL OF THE PRESCRIBED ANTIBIOTIC WITH NO IMPROVEMENT, I CALLED VCA FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC, TOLD THEM NILLA HADN'T IMPROVED AT ALL,AND WAS WORSE, AND COULD THEY GIVE ME MORE OF THE SAME ANTIBIOTIC? AFTER SOME TIME THEY RETURNED MY CALL, AND TOLD ME THE DOCTOR APPROVED MY REQUEST, I WENT BACK AND GOT THE MEDICINE. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS THE DISCHARGE HAD BECOME NOTICEABLY MUCH WORSE, NOW IN A COMPLETE BELIEF THAT MY DOG NILLA WOULDN'T MAKE IT I TOOK HER BACK FOR A BLOOD TEST, AND SO CALLED FLUIDS. I WANTED TO ACCOMPANY THE TECH IN THE EXAM ROOM, SHE REPLIED, NO THAT I COULDN'T. SOMEWHAT FRUSTRATED I COMPLIED AND SAT DOWN. IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES, SHE RETURNED WITH MY DOG NILLA. SHE THEN SAID NOT TO BE ALARMED IF I FELT A BULGE ON THE BACK OF THE NECK AREA. WHILE SHE WAS STILL HOLDING NILLA I FELT FOR A BULGE, AND DIDN'T FEEL ANYTHING. I WENT HOME AND CONTINUED TO FEED NILLA FOOD AND WATER, SHE WAS NOW AT 4.1 LBS. ANS I HAD BEEN FEEDING HER THROUGH A SYRINGE NOW FOR 10 DAYS. I WAS TOLD BY THE TECH THE RESULTS WOULD BE IN A DAY OR TWO. THREE DAYS PASSED WITH NO CALL FROM VCA FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC!! I THEN CALLED THEM, THE RECEPTIONIST WAS LOOKING INTO MY RESULTS, THIS TOOK A FEW MINUTES AND IT SEEMED LIKE HE WAS UNABLE TO FIND THEM, EVENTUALLY HE SAID, OH YEAH HERE THEY ARE, THERE NEGATIVE. NOW BELIEVING THEY SCAMMED ME AGAIN. FROM THERE I WENT TO BANFIELD AT PETSMART IN ROBINSON, DR. ANIT PROMPTLY SAW NILLA, THEN TOLD ME SHE WAS ALMOST CERTAIN NILLA HAD PYOMETRA, RECOMMENDED BLOOD WORK,XRAYS AND FLUIDS. SHE GAVE NILLA THE FLUIDS, BUT I COULDN'T AFFORD THE EX-RAYS OR BLOOD WORK. COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE OF FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINICS SO CALLED FLUIDS INJECTION. I WENT HOME, AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED FIVE POINTS VETERINARY CLINIC,AND ASKED TO SPEAK TO MANAGER TOLD THEM MY NAME AND WAS LEFT ON HOLD FOR OVER 6 MINUTES. I HUNG UP PISSED OFF AND CALLED BACK. THIS TIME AGAIN FOR OVER FIVE MINUTES ONLY TO BE TOLD "SHE WAS IN A MEETING" I SAID I KNOW SHE'S NOT IN A MEETING,AND EXCLAIMED TO PUT HER ON THE PHONE, SOME HOW HER MEETING MUST HAVE BEEN OVER,AND PICKED UP THIS TIME. AMAZING ISN'T IT? I THEN TOLD HER I KNEW THAT NILLA HADN'T BEEN GIVEN FLUIDS AND PROBABLY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A BLOOD TEST AND I WANTED MY MONEY BACK, SHE THEN REPLIED, I WILL LOOK INTO IT AND GET BACK TO ME. WHICH SHE NEVER DID. THE FOLLOWING DAY " DR. LEVI " CALLED ME, ANNOUNCED HE WAS THE CLINICAL DIRECTOR ( NOTICE HOW THE LETTERS IN LEVI ALSO CAN SPELL EVIL) AGAIN I TOLD HIM OF MY SUSPICIOS. HE SAID HE WOULD OFFER TO SEE NILLA AGAIN,THIS WAS A FRIDAY LATE AFTERNOON.HE PRETENDED TO ACT LIKE HE WOULD SEE HER THAT DAY, BUT QUICKLY CHANGED THAT TO 8:30 AM MONDAY MORNING. LUCKILY NILLA HAD A CASE OF OPEN MYOTREA, WHERE THE INFECTION DRAINS FROM HER VULVA,AND I HAD BEEN GIVING HER AMOXICILLIN THAT I HAPPENED TO HAVE ON HAND. I TOOK NILLA THERE MONDAY MORNING,WAS PUT IN AN EXAM ROOM. PROMPTLY THE " DOCTOR LEVI " ALONG WITH THE CLINICAL MANAGER STEPPED IN. I TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED WITH INCIDENT AND KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON.THEY STEPPED OUT BRIEFLY RETURNING WITH AN ESTIMATE RECOMMENDING A BLOOD TEST AGAIN ALONG WITH AN X-RAY, COSTING OVER FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! WHICH I DIDN'T HAVE. AGAIN I LET THEM KNOW I KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING THERE, AND KINDLY ASKED IF THEY PERHAPS, START A PROGRAM OF HELPING PEOPLE IN NEED MAYBE ONCE A MONTH IN WHICH THEY MIGHT OFFER THERE SERVICICES AT A NOMINAL FEE. QUICKLY THE MANAGER RESPONDED, WE GIVE ENOUGH TO CHARITY, I REPLIED IT WOULD IMPROVE YOUR IMAGE MAYBE IF YOU TRIED IT, I WAS NOW TOTALLY DESPERATE IN NEED OF IMMINENT SURGERY FOR NILLA AND THOUGHT PERHAPS THEY MIGHT, AFTER KNOWING THEY RIPPED ME OFF,AS WELL AS PROBABLY THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE IN ALL THE YEARS THEY WERE PERPETRATING THIS SCAM. When I ask them to take back over $100 of the wrong medicine they gave us they refused. The owner continually told me how concerned he was and ask me to call him several days later to check on our dogs progress. That was 5 months ago and still have not received a return phone call. I would highly recommend you find somewhere else to take care of your pet. Since you wrote me a very threatening and classless letter and then decided to respond on line thought I would respond in kind. We would never return to your clinic for any reason ever. The attitude adjustment that needs to take place belongs to you. We have been clients of your practice for 12 years. Seems to us the professional response should have been how can we make this right.Your defense of your associate is the only commendable action we have seen you take. Even though you and I never had a conversation about Dr White. You met with my wife not me. Your records apparently are about as accurate as your doctors diagnoses. Not only did I call you on Wednesday night as we agreed but drove to your clinic with the medicine that was wrongly prescribed by Dr White. Your office refused to take the medicine that you , Dr Bell ,agreed to take back. Again I asked your office personal to have you call me so we could discuss it.The only person this falls on is YOU!!! The absolute worst, will never use these people again. Wonder about there hiring process 2 vets both incompetent. One was so bad that the owner told us to make sure we did not give our dog any of the medicines prescribed by his associate. Then refused to take the medicine back. The owner then took over care and repeated many times how concerned he was about our dog. Ask me to call him on Wednesday and 6 days later still has not returned the call. Must have been real worried. What a joke!! We took our older dog in for his annual physical and shots...the vet did not check him at all I had to ask if he would check his ears, teeth and heart. Our vet in Florida informed me this winter he had a fairly serious heart murmur. I mentioned this to the vet at Five Points, he looked through the records and said oh yes we knew he had a heart murmur years ago. I told him I was never informed about it and he replied they don't always mention it if it's not serious. Hope we will find our beloved pets a caring veterinarian. Read Less

My regular vet referred me to Dr Boswell at Five points for my Jack Russell who had developed a mast cell tumor. She told me though she could do the surgery herself, Dr Boswell had far more expertise with this kind of tumor and my dog's chances were best having Dr Boswell do the surgery. The staff was very kind and supportive. We were seen in a timely manner and the Dr explained what he had to do in layman's terms so I fully understood what was involved. We were given a written estimate lowest cost to a possible high. The surgery was scheduled within a few days and my dog was taken in as appointed. The surgery was done an we were called to give a status report and a pick up time was given. We arrived on time, picked up our dog,who looked remarkably well considering to seriousness of the surgery. We were given clear instructions on how to care for our dog and the charges were within the estimate...the low end. I have dealt with an other veterinary hospital in the past, a good one albeit, but Five Points was the better experience. Thank you to Dr Jane Keenan, my wonderful vet. I will never speak specifically about a client or pet that has been to our practice, so I can only respond to a few points in this review. 1) Heartgard is safe for Collies. Check with the manufacturer of Heartgard. Historically, ivermectin, the active ingredient in Heartgard, was being used on large farm animals. Farm dogs, which are most often collies or herding dogs, were given lethal doses of ivermectin because farmers were treating their dogs with the same dosage they were treating cows. This is what caused the URBAN LEGEND about Heartgard being unsafe for collies. I would venture to say that Heartgard is the most popular heartworm medication around the world and it didn?t get there because it kills dogs. 2) I would never trust a professional in any field that said that all of his colleagues are running a racket by recommending something. If that professional was in the medical field, I would run away as fast as possible. Heartworm disease is horrible. Google it and check out the photos. You may find similar products sold at other retailers that supposedly do the same thing as the ones sold exclusively in veterinary clinics and hospitals. They are cheaper and for good reason. Veterinarians and scientists have determined that these products do not meet the standards of good health care. So the manufacturers of the substandard products find another outlet for the product and reduce the cost. You get what you pay for. 4) I will agree with the reviewer that pet care is expensive. It is particularly expensive if you compare it to human healthcare where you only pay co-pays and never see itemized bills. Throw veterinary bills on top of the costs for food, kitty litter, toys, grooming, classes, leashes, etc. and the cost is staggering. However, I hope that the vast majority of people understand this when they bring a pet into their lives. At the end of the day, I think we can all agree that they are worth every sacrifice we may have to make to take the best care of them. 5) Lastly, our staff is full of kind and loving people. It is an honor to know them, let alone work with them on a daily basis. We are respectful to our clients. Most, but not all, clients are respectful to us. On a rare occasion, we do encounter people who try to bully and abuse us and this will never be tolerated. If we don?t like bullies in junior high, why should we give them license to abuse in the workplace? We are a really good practice. I know this because we are currently running a client satisfaction survey through a third party. I see the results. Our clients love us. They recommend us to their neighbors, family, co-workers, and friends. I am not saying that we are perfect - there is always room to grow and things to improve. My first experience 2 years ago with this vet was that I waited an hour to see the vet, while they took at least 3 appointments scheduled after us, before taking us and when we said something we got attitutide and a ""whoops"". Then, they perscribed my Collie Heartguard, which is poisonous to Collies and I gave it to her for 6 months before trying to refill the scrip online and reading about it and finding that out. I swore to never go there again and wrote them a strongly worded letter. They should have known that Collies dont get Heartguard. 2 years fast forward to 2 weeks ago. We decide to take the Collie up there for her yearly exam and shots. My husband forgot the vaccination records from our other vet and he told them he was going to call and get them. They took Daisy into the back room for whatever and when they came back with her, they had already revaccinated her for everything to the tune of $60 extra dollars. Even though he told them he was going to call and get them, which he did. Then, turns out that she somehow has Whipworm! We have no idea where or how she got it, not even convinced she does have it and they werent totally scamming us. She now needs to be wormed, heartworm tested (I stopped giving her the Heartguard and another vet told me not to put her on Heartworm medicine because it was just a way other vets scam you out of money and there is only like a 1% chance of her ever getting it) and then put on Interceptor (Heartworm and other parasite drug) for basically life. Whipworm gets in your soil and they just keep reinfecting themselves. We already paid for the office visit there, so we have to stay going to this and get the issue solved or pay another office fee somewhere else. We think we have it solved and decide not to go elsewhere. At any rate, this is all fine and dandy and we have to take BOTH dogs to get Heartworm tested. My husband calls and specifically asks several times how much it would be. They insisted $80. When I get up to pay, they charge me $186!!!! I asked why and said no way, but they said its $106 for the SIX worming pills they are giving me. My husband and I were irrate, but what was I to do? I paid the bill and left. The next day we called our old vet and he said that he would have perscribed a powder and it would have been $36. We called and tried to find out why we werent given that and they had no answer. Were totally rude, didnt want to talk to us, couldnt give us a reason for giving us a $70 more expensive drug and not even offering us a choice. When hubbie said we wanted something done or we would go to another vet, the response he got was ""Good Luck at another vets"" and she hung up. We feel completely scammed. They tricked us into coming back there, they tricked us into spending 3x what we should have had to and when we got upset they were completely disrespectful, rude and did not care at all that we were unhappy customers. Stay away from this place. You will be ripped off, this is their normal everyday practice. Ripping people off. Read Less

We have tried to work with this clinic but for the most part they seem to care about the dollar more than the animal. We are not new to animal care (we care for more that 12 animal friends) and after now using this clinic for several occurrences find them to be below average in what we feel veterinary care and service should be. The vets can be personable but that is about the extent of it. Two recent instances where specific dosage prescriptions (liquid) were bought and paid for, there was not enough medication to complete the regimen. When we tried to get enough medicine to ?finish? what we started, was prescribed and paid for, one of the vets (who never saw or examined the animal) told the staff we needed to continue the meds for another week. The only reason for this maneuver was so that they could charge us for another full bottle of medicine. Personnel?s attitude gets to be curt and short when questioned, phone calls are not returned in a timely manner and in general very poor attitude and service. We have no grudge with this vet but find them to be more concerned with the money than their clients and client?s owners. Read Less
