I have gone to this place for many years, but think it is time for a change. The head doctor/owner died Feb '18 and on several occasions it appears to be poorly managed. Last night I went there to pick up my dog who got her teeth cleaned. Bill was over $700! When I balked, the attendant went over each charge - and found one charge of $100 had been double-billed. Plus they usually don't charge for nail trim if you get teeth cleaned. So I got the bill lowered to $590. Still WAY TOO MUCH for this service! No apology for the overcharge was ever given. Like the other reviewers have noted, you are often left in the waiting room way past your scheduled time. Some of the workers at the front desk are VERY nice - others are clueless. I have had nothing but an amazing experience here! The vets are awesome and staff. I just recently boarded my dog here and I felt comfortable and he received a lot of TLC from the staff here. If I could give this place 20 stars I would. Thanks everyone for being awesome and taking care of my little guy. Use when needed outside of preventative maintenance for my dog. Had almost two hour wait without explanation last visit. Made an appointment yesterday for today and door locked upon arrival. After I called and spoke to the answering service, an older gentleman allowed me in and when a gal arrived 15 minutes later I was told I had no appointment when I made it just yesterday. Also told by answering service she would contact the Dr on call to contact me, it's been an hour and 1/2, and nothing. Got up early and had over an hour drive during rush hour, and my pup had to go through being driven which upsets him for a whole lot of nothing. Will NEVER go back to this place! Read Less

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible.... Passed around from one person to another on the phone only to be told no one could answer my questions anyways. They'd played phone tag constantly with me, in means of me being the one to only ever call them. They never once returned one phone call, and I gave them more than 24 hours to call me back. Twice medication was given wrong to me which, who knows if my dog could of died from the wrong medication. I never have minded paying for good service for my animals but this is sure lackadaisical effort and them going out of their way to purposely not do their jobs! I had a vet before moving to the area that was spectacular and accommodating, who understood the idea of simply returning a phone call and staff that was courteous. Staff here goes out of their way to make you fell like your animals are not important and that you are stupid by being deliberately rude, and short with you. I am finally writing this review because I was too emotional and filled with much anger of the negligence experienced when I boarded my English Setter in late June. When I picked up my dog from their kennel she was gravely ill and I had sought medical attention from my vet. Somehow my dog was exposed to a chemical and had severe burns on her tongue and mouth. She needed to be hospitalized and her health was "touch and go" for nearly 3 weeks. She still has terrible scars on her tongue which is a constant reminder of her horrible ordeal at this kennel! I have been trying repeatedly to speak with the owner but have had no success! I guess my next step is to seek legal advice and contact the SPCA to make them aware of my dog's treatment while being boarded. Read Less

I call this place Maple Hills Waiting Room. I took my animals there 3 different times, and each one was at least 2 hr wait (along with lots of other waiting customers). I left before my animals were seen because they were so stressed. Most of the time, there was only one doctor doing surgery and visits, so of course everyone had to wait. I go to Hamilton Animal Care and am much happier. They don't overbook to the hilt. Read Less

I have a new puppy, and wanted to select a vet that had a hospital attached, onsite boarding available & if possible, several locations. I currently have a dog & cats & had been looking for a new vet that checked all those boxes. I called & booked an appt. for first puppy shots. 2 days before the appt. she developed conjunctivitis. I called at 8:00am, explained the problem & that she had an appt. in 2 days. Even though I was not technically a client yet, they said come in at 9am that day. I did, they gave me cream & the problem was resolved. We pushed back the shot appt. to the following week to make sure the eye was healed.Then I came home & read the yelp reviews. I was pretty surprised, and not very happy. I debated contacting a new vet, but decided to keep my appt., go for the eye follow up & shot visit & decide after that.The shot visit (Schnecksville-closer for me) went great-I did wait close to 20 minutes, but the vet tech & Dr. gave me great service. Puppy did not feel a thing. He also gave me some training advice & answered all my puppy questions.Last night I went for her 2nd shot visit, (3rd visit total) to the Kessler road location. I was shown to the patient room within 5 minutes & the Dr. arrived almost immediately. He reviewed the previous 2 visits with me, (different Dr.) asked me some questions & also answered a few more questions regarding rabies vaccines, 1 year versus 3 year.3 shots, microchip & office visit total was $136.85. The first shot visit for 2 shots was $73.46. Both close to the amount I was expecting to pay based on quotes from several places.The best thing was when I left, the waiting room was full of people picking up & dropping off their pets for boarding, and regular office visits. I hung around and talked for a bit (everyone loves a puppy), and everyone there also seemed to be having a positive experience. I am happy that I now have a new vet that checks all my boxes, & I've learned a valuable lesson, Do Not let other reviews decide for me, check it out myself & then form my opinion. Read Less

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Dispicable how the owner treats the staff and doesn't care about anything but his bottom line (including patients)! I have heard horror stories from numerous other people who have gone here also. They contribute to veterinarians getting a bad rap! Unnecessary diagnostics to pad their charges and poor judgement in treatment recommendations if they do actually get the diagnosis right. No follow-up and no organization. Stay away! Read Less

I went here for 13 YEARS for routine visits, always paid my bill in full. I had an emergency with my cat who had a kidney problem but was told she needed her teeth cleaned?? She ended up dying, and leaving me with a high unexpected bill. It took me awhile to pay this with numerous threatening phone calls and letters from them. Then a Sheriff serves me with papers 2 weeks AFTER I PAID THE BILL. i WILL never GO BACK THERE. Like a previous person said "I wouldn't take a stuffed animal there." Read Less

Really wish I would a read reviews before coming here! But had no choice needed immediate help. Surgery costs me double what they quoted. Was told my dog had lymphoma. Worse case I'd have a yr and that they had removed all of the infected spots. Only for a couple days later come to find out she had an infection and that there was 2 spots on her liver that they never told me about till then. They kept my dog for blood transfusion. She was doing good. Started eating Friday and again sat and Sunday I get the dreaded call of your dog has past? How do you go from doing good to died? DO NOT come here if you love your pet. After this had happen I visited my dog one last time. Was told that the doc would call me that day yet to discuss the bill and my options. Of course no call I call the next day nothing's ready no phone call back. 3 days later they get back to me to give me my final bill. That was everything cremation and all. WTF I was shocked mad stunned. How can they do whatever they want without discussing or getting consent? I see it as we screwed up quick burn the evidence. I'm so outraged at this place they need to be shut down! Please take this as a heads up to avoid this place from all costs. Take other people's reviews just as serious. We have been going to Maple Hills Vet for over 30 years. I can't say enough about the care and understanding we have received from them. We have taken cats, dogs and even a snake for treatment. The staff is extremely caring and I would never go to another Vet. Great Job Maple Hills !!! Read Less

If you don't mind getting robbed of your money then come here. This place has some of the worse service and awful billing practices I have ever seen. They will come up with bogus diagnoses and an unnecessary amount of procedures to run up a bill. I've brought my dog there only to have my time wasted, not get responses back from the two vets that run the place and then get a surprise bill almost double what I was told the bill would be. Avoid this place! Much like the previous reviewers stated service is terrible,  you wait hours for your SCHEDULED office visit. Recently took my dog in because of trouble breathing,  they took him quick enough,  but then the bs started.  They told me x-rays and blood work were the first things they would do and they wanted to keep him over night to monitor him.   The vet was suppose to call me the next morning at 10ish, her words.  Get no call,  so I call at 11am, receptionist tells me she was about to call and will call me back immediately. 2pm no call, I call back.  I'm on hold for over 30 minutes then vet finally answers and tells me she wants to sedate him to look in his throat for "lar par".  Okay,  I'm good so far,  I ask for the current bill.   Here is the whopper 1300 for essentially doing nothing but x-rays and blood work. They ran up the bill with a bunch of medicine that have nothing to do with anything wrong with him. Go somewhere else if you want real help and save yourself the aggravation. Read Less

Somehow mine changed 3 times in a matter of an hour. (I'm not talking hundreds difference, but thousands). This place uses unethical business practices. When we went to pick up our cat we had to wait 90 minutes for a bill to be generated "off site". When we looked at the bill it listed the same procedures using different descriptions. When challenged about this we were told that we'd have to talk to the "off site billing person who would not be available for some time". After waiting 90 frustrating minutes we decided to just pay it and move on. Then we received a bill in the mail saying we owed more money because they forgot something - even though we had a bill marked PAID. If you love your animal do NOT bring them here!! I brought in my elderly dog to have checked out because he had a cough, almost $2000 in nonsense I was charged. Added to that, they want the entire payment up front when you come to pick up your animal.(I was not told this)  I am a 19 years old and work at a gas station. I don't make much. So I ended up not seeing my dog for TWO WEEKS. TWO WEEKS THEY KEPT MY DOG FROM ME WITH THE PRICE OF BOARDING MAKING THE OVER ALL PRICE GO UP EACH DAY. I called everyday crying asking to please speak with the doctor who treated him so we can work out some payment plan. HE AVIODED EVERY CALL I MADE. "Oh he's not in right now." "Oh he's in surgery." "Oh he's at lunch." For twelve consecutive days the doctor would not return my call. I finally got my dog back by begging a relative of mine to pay the bill for me. My dog still has a cough. We took Our Springer/Brittany Spaniel there one night because she had been throwing up her food for 4 to 5 days. After about an hour wait the vet finally took her in. We told him the problem and he said we'd have to leave her there overnight they'd have to run further testing. Not hearing from them I called them in the morning and they said they weren't finished with the tests they'd call us when finished. I went to work, came home and my wife said they still never called. I called them and they said they couldn't find anything wrong we could come get her. They gave us medication to give her and informed us that it was a stomach virus and to give her the pills with a bland diet of chicken and rice for 5 days. When they gave me the bill I was flabbergasted when I saw $675!!! However, I paid it and didn't complain. Well we followed these instructions and she continued to throw up everything even the medication. After about 4 days of this I called them and complained stating that all the money I paid and she still doesn't improve. Well after two people rudely hung up on me I went over there and told them I should either get some of my money back or check our dog again and we shouldn't be charged. Well they refused both so I demanded her records I would go elsewhere and never step foot in there again. Beware of this place they are money hungry snobs, are extremely rude and obviously do not care about your pet. Please do yourself a favor and do not go to this vet, they are awful!! Read Less

I would not take a stuffed animal there. I took my dog in, who was not eating. $2000 worth of surgery and x-rays later he was no better and getting worse by the day . I took him to another vet and they told me had cancer nearly everywhere and were shocked that he had had x-rays at another vet and they had either missed or ignored it. They don't care about your pet, just your money. My poor dog suffered needlessly thanks to them. I will never ever go back and will warn other pet owners who care about their pets to stay away. I will never bring my dog back to this vet. I waited for an hour over the time of my appointment just to see the vet. It took them two weeks to call me back with my dogs blood work results. I called them everyday for them and got the same response "the doctor needs to look them over and we will get back to you." When they finally called me back they said that my dog needs medication, I asked them for a script so I can get it somewhere cheaper and she sarcastically said "its for a dog...you need to get it at a vet." I said no I can get it at a Walmart or pharmacy..to which she replied "well i need to ask the doctor and they are on lunch...we will call you back." They never did of course. I had to call them back. BEST animal hospital in the valley!!! I Love Maple Hills. They are the most compassionate individuals. Their staff is always very helpful and always smiling. The doctors are also great. I personally love Dr Banzhof. He has been there almost 38 years, and he is excellent. He is the best around in my opinion. I have two shitzu dogs jake and jada, and he treats them like there his own. I have been a client there for years, and I will continue to be. He makes you and your animal feel like you are #1. They work with you too regarding finances. They offer care credit and pet insurances. I have care credit and love it. They also have 4 other clinics. (just so the clients dont have to drive as far to the main hospital). To me, that is just amazing. I just wont and feel that everyone should go to that hospital. They are the best around Read Less

We recently took our cat there a couple of times in a month to get down to the bottom of possible cystitis.  The staff there shows absolutely no respect for your time.  Both times we ended up spending at least 3+ hours for one appointment.  The staff either leaves you in the waiting room or in an exam room for up to 45 min to an hour with no update.  Both times we had to check at the desk to make sure we were not forgotten, were reassured that they'll get to us soon and then spent another 15-20 minutes waiting.  It was ridiculous.  Then, once you are ready to pay up and get whatever prescription is necessary - you wait another 15-20 minutes while the staff rings you up and get the meds at a glacial pace, redoing incorrect billing, etc, etc.  I don't know if they were on qualudes or just incompetent.   On top of all this, at the second appt., after being told they would up the dosage to cure our cat, my husband came home with another bottle of pills of the same dosage as the last time.   WILL NEVER GO BACK. Maple Hills saved my cat's life! She's 3 and was experiencing some nausea. Was given antibiotics and anti nausea meds. I came home to find her having a grand mal seizure! They diagnosed her with diabetic ketoacidosis (extremely rare for such a young cat) and brought her back for me :) Nurse Hillary kept me posted even sending me a pic once she woke up via text. The doctors informed me of everything and are helping me with her care plan to get her back to normal. Read Less
