Not impressed: High prices, busy staff, and little help. Took a sick cat here for what is considered an "emergency visit." Spent quite some time in the waiting room, where dogs barked and howled at my cat with little to no restraint (literally dogs just roaming around without leases). I had to take the cat outside (in the winter) to wait because of the outrageous waiting arrangements. When they finally did see me, a worker barely looked at the cat before suggesting blood work. I immediately agreed, but they made me wait as they needed to prepare an "estimate." 20 minutes later the women returns with a $700 estimate to get blood work for my sick cat then tells me its unlikely the cat will survive before the blood work gets done. I asked what I could do, they recommended that I take my cat to an "animal hospital." Yes the animal hospital told me to take my pet to another animal hospital nearly 2 hours away. I guess this one doesn't actually keep animals overnight, so I'm not really sure why its called a hospital then.. They stated that they had connections with one in particular. So I quickly called that hospital to find out more information. Not only did they said that they wouldn't accept blood work done by the place I was out, they recommended that I shouldn't even take my animals to this animal hospital. Not wanting to put my dying cat through anymore driving, poking, and suffering. I decided to leave. Had to wait at least 20 minutes for them to prepare an invoice for my emergency visit. Meanwhile I'm just sitting there holding my dying cat. Had to pay them $100 for the visit (that did absolutely nothing) on top of that the receptionist was snarky and rude about me turning down the blood work. My cat ended up passing away on the short ride back to our home. I don't know how this place is with typical visits, but I can tell you for certain that they are not good in an emergency situation. You couldn't pay me to go back to this place, I now take my pets to the place across the street, who is 100% more professional, helpful, and friendly than this place. Read Less

Knowledgeable staff. I visited after my cat got an infection. The veterinary Dr. took the time to talk to me and explain treatment options so that I left satisfied with the outcome. The visit was $57 for "Sick Visit Level 1," FELV/FIV test was $40, wound culture was $136, the antibiotics treatment only cost a little more than prices listed online but were administered on site/given to me to take home. No time wasted waiting for a delivery. If my cat had not come back positive for FIV I would have skipped the culture. Read Less

They killed my cat.  I had found her in a park and after spending quite a bit of money to treat her, they decided months later that she needed surgery.  I told them that I didn't think she was ready for surgery because she was too weak.  They insisted that she would be fine.  She died as soon as they administered the anesthesia because her body couldn't handle it.  This was TWO of their vets working on her.  You'd think that maybe one of them would have taken my concerns seriously.  I had gone to them for years and they always seemed overpriced but since my dogs knew them, I didn't want to make the switch to another vet.  This changed my mind and luckily we tried HanoverView Animal Hospital.  So far they are wonderful and even squeezed us in for an emergency appointment without charging us the ridiculous fee that Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital would have! Now that a month has passed since my dog passed away, I finally have cooled down enough to write this review. Let's rewind to 2007, when our 9 year old portuguese water dog started having some issues. Money is no issue in my family with our animals, we are fortunate enough to be able to provide for their every need and would spend any amount to ensure their well-being. After they ran every test under the sun and assured us our dog did not have cancer, we took him home for him to live out his last remaining week until one day he suddenly collapsed and died. With that one though, we weren't as heartbroken since he was approaching 10 and as you all know, our animals don't live forever, unfortunately. Fast forward to about 2 months ago when our 7.5 year old portuguese water dog started experiencing similar issues. After taking him to the vet consistently, they diagnosed him with a million things including arthritis (even though his x-ray showed no signs of arthritis), then the vet said it was his spine. Our dog was overweight, there was no doubt about it, we were getting him back in shape to have 2 benign tumors from his side removed. He was intermittently lethargic to the point where he wouldn't get up for hours, but the vet assured us that he was fine and that it all had to do with his joints. My mother described every single symptom to the vets the weeks before his death. Well guess what? A month ago our poor dog collapsed to the point where he couldn't get up (shockingly similar to our last dog). We rushed him to valley central where they did a SIMPLE ULTRASOUND to diagnose him with a ruptured tumor on the spleen. Unfortunately, the damage was already done. We had to put him down and it was the worst day of our lives. I would be 100% understanding if we hadn't taken him to the vet multiple times in the months leading up to his death, but we had, and they weren't even close to diagnosing him with what he really had. I know that this is a common problem in dogs and happens very suddenly if not monitored, but we trusted these vets to run all necessary tests based on his symptoms and they did not follow through on their part. After our dog died, I did some research and while I'm not a doctor, I am fairly confident our last dog died of the same thing (after a similar whole month of tests coming up with nothing). This is the real kicker. After Stanley died my mother called to have our cats filed transferred. When she asked why a ROUTINE ULTRASOUND was never done, they said they don't own an ultrasound machine. I am completely disgusted with lehigh valley animal hospital and will never return. Just to add to this, on a way way smaller scale, I took my two dobermans there for 2 appointments and my boyfriend I were there for almost 2.5 hours for each appointment. In addition, I've never understood why they take your animals in the back room to give them shots, to me that seems totally unethical. Finally, our one Doberman weighs 101 lbs. and as I left the vet I looked in my bag and noticed they charged us $43 for the extra sentinel for the 2-8 lb. dog to cover the 1 extra pound that our doberman weighed. This is just completely taking advantage of customers. When my boyfriend called 15 minutes later to ask them if we could return it, they said no. I hope my review speaks for itself, and I'm happy that some people have had good experiences here. Unfortunately, I've had nothing but bad. I have the utmost respect for veterinarians. To me, they have one of the toughest jobs in the world and I am grateful for all the truly compassionate ones who care about the animals and not about money. When my mother called to talk to them, the vet returned the call to my father and she was very upset that our dog had died and showed genuine care, and for that, I am appreciative. But, to not have an ultrasound machine is a poor excuse. Invest in proper equipment, not a dilapidated barn across the street. Read Less

I said "Um that is not something I would forget or misplace" She said "Sorry we'll let you know if it turns up". What was I supposed to say gee thanks? we're not talking about a lost sock. Seriously. I feel that I am now qualified to write a review for this pet hospital, having recently been there many times in the last few months. As you know, I have two cats now, and recently they've had some serious issues. Beckham, my black and white, had a strange lesion on his lip. The veterinarian, Dr. Schindler, as well as the staff there, treated Beckham very well. He's a tough cat to get on well with, and they were professional and confident around him, which is important if you don't want to get scratched or bitten. Especially when he's out of sorts! The first visit didn't get the best results, so I had to bring him back in for another shot, and that one did the trick. He's much better now, and his lip is getting back to normal. It seems to have been an allergic reaction to something, though we aren't sure what.Jimmy Boo, my brown tabby, had more serious issues. He recently had stopped going to the bathroom. I was so concerned with the possibility of impaction that I hadn't noticed that he hadn't urinated, either. I called the vet and as it was after 7 pm, they told me to get him to the Valley Center Emergency Pet Clinic right away. I was at work, so I had my boyfriend take him. If we hadn't taken him then, he might not be alive now. The next morning, I picked him up from Valley Center and took him to LVAH, where they were expecting him. They admitted him and then called me with an update. They said that his kidneys had almost shut down and that he was dehydrated. Valley Center had taken care of the crystals in his urinary tract, but he still hasn't out of the woods. They were going to keep him overnight. Dr. Witiak encouraged me to visit him any time. I couldn't until the next day after work... and it was obvious that he had charmed much of the staff there... he is really an affectionate and sweet cat. However, he had to stay another night because they were still seeing blood in his urine and he wasn't staying hydrated, though he had an IV drip in. My boyfriend visited him after work that night, too, after I'd already gone. He said that they gave him a further update on Jimmy... and he was going to be okay.Dr. Witiak called me a couple times to give me updates and was always friendly and positive. Jimmy Boo was in great hands. I picked him up yesterday afternoon, as they didn't want him out before they'd weaned him off the IV drip. And when I got there, they had him make the rounds to say goodbye to the staff, who liked him a lot. (I'm not surprised in the least.) The cost for saving my cat was entirely worth it, and to be honest, not as expensive as I thought it would be. Maybe because we'd already had to pay a LOT for the emergency care... still, it was worth it. I love my cats, and I'm so happy to have them home and healthy and happy again!Thank you, LVAH doctors and staff. You guys are awesome!!

About a week ago I made one of the hardest decisions of my life and want to personally thank Dr. Barbara Gregory, & Dr. David Ferrari, for helping me get through it. I spent months trying to come to terms with the inevitable outcome of my baby's stage four lymphoma, and all of the issues surrounding it. I chose LVAH after some research and was so relieved to find their approach, followup and professionalism exceeding my expectations throughout the journey. Dr Ferrari was the most unprofessional, arrogant vet I've ever met. Completely distressed my dog and then had the nerve to tell me Rottweilers are overly aggressive dogs in the middle of the waiting room. When I argued with that he laughed at me and made a condescending remark. Will never go back again and I don't understand why someone like that, who clearly has a bias toward certain dog breeds, would be a practicing vet. Absolutely awful. Read Less

Read Less

There are some good vets here, but ask for someone other than Dr. Ferrari, if you have to go there.  I found him to be inattentive and rude.  He failed to call me back promptly.  One time I made three calls over three days and had to threaten to go there to get very concerning test results.  Lastly, my rescue dog was to get treated for heartworm and Dr. Ferrari failed to order the required medication, despite having two months to do so.  I'm taking my three dogs elsewhere. I was trying to be a good parent to my dog and I failed him by trusting them. I put his life in their hands.Originally I brought him there for something so minor. A small cut that got swollen overnight. After they tended to it for weeks it got worse. They suggested amputation! After all the money I had spent and all I put my baby through my boy died. About 2 weeks later I asked if his paw print was ready. All I had left of him. The girl asked "No we don't have it. Are you sure you didn't get it? we usually give it right away". I said "Um that is not something I would forget or misplace" She said "Sorry we'll let you know if it turns up". What was I supposed to say gee thanks? we're not talking about a lost sock. Seriously. I would be extremely careful here. I was trapped into going back here because I had shelled out so much money I couldn't afford to go anywhere else. Read Less

Read Less
