I have a large challenging dog with some fear aggression. For 6 years I have been unable to find a vet that takes the time and has the patience to deal with us without making me feel like a bad dog owner. Dr Doug and his staff have made me and my dog very comfortable and I am so thankful to have found this practice. And to top it off they offer holistic and homeopathic care, so it is well worth an hour drive to this great place! Read Less

There are closer vets, but I happily drive farther for Beaver Animal Clinic. Not only are Dr. Knueven and his staff very caring, they're also not pushy and very transparent about expenses. After my dog underwent surgery, the vet called us himself to check on her. When cancer seemed a possibility, he chatted with us and let us make our own choices on how to proceed without judgment. We met Dr. Doug at a free seminar on holistic pet care. We were so impressed with his expertise and knowledge that the very next day we called to schedule an appointment to see if our dog would benefit from acupuncture for arthritis. Little did we know that by the time the appointment rolled around, we would be visiting due to rear leg paralysis! Our initial greeting at the clinic was with Faith, an extremely friendly, pleasant, and compassionate technician. She did everything she could to insure our beloved dog’s comfort during her visit. We also interacted with Dianna, another tech., who was very friendly, pleasant, and helpful in getting our dog back into the car. As much as we appreciated her help, I think our dog did, too –- as she lowered her into the backseat, she gave Dianna a kiss!! Dr. Doug is TERRIFIC! He not only has a wealth of expertise/experience, but is extremely knowledgeable about contemporary/Western medicine and holistic care as well…..and while that combination of integrative medicine is vital to every pets’ well-being, it is very hard to find! During our many acupuncture visits with Dr. Doug, we find him to be very knowledgeable, friendly, pleasant, compassionate, truthful, a good listener, extremely punctual, and able to explain things in layman’s terms to insure our understanding. We have been taking our five kitties to The Beaver Animal Clinic since moving back to Beaver four years ago. The entire staff, from the front desk girls to the doctors, go above and beyond to be accommodating and helpful. They treat each pet as one of their own, showing them kindness and respect during their exams. One of our kitties, Jack, will be 18 in July. He has regularly scheduled six week appointments for steroid injections and sees Dr. Knueven every other visit. He is just wonderful with Jack and his treatment plan has helped Jack tremendously. All the vets there are great - we’ve seen them all on different occasions and are never disappointed. Dr. Jessica Steed at Beaver Animal Clinic is such a wonderful, caring vet.  I brought my indoor and my outdoor cat to her for shots and checkup.  She is very kind and compassionate, and so is her assistant named Faith.  My outdoor cat can be a little hellion at the vets, but they calmed her with Feliway, and proceeded to treat her with kid gloves as they examined her and cut her nails and gave her a microchip.  Faith had to clean her and her carrier since she nervously had a "little accident" on the way to the vets.  She did so with such care and meticulous detail for her wellbeing.  I could highly recommend this vet practice.  They treat your animals as if they were their own.  Dr. Steed is very competent and informative to answer any nutritional or health questions as well.  Thank you, Beaver Animal Clinic.  You have a lifelong client here. They're more concerned with making a profit off of you than taking care of your pet. They'll insist on running test, sometimes making it mandatory to move forward with any treatment, then slap you with a ridiculous bill without being up front about cost. Something as simple as a nail clipping will cost you $25. Read Less

dr doug was recommended and it was the worse experience of my life. I'm not a bitter pet owner but he's not that great. not saying anymore bc i don't wish bad but i want to inform the people. you have to come up with your own conclusion but i personally don't recommend him Read Less

Took my dog for 3 d opinion to Dr knuevan.... 10 year Corgi make neutered to review my normal labs. Allergic to most things.... exit was 700.00.... X-ray  of last rib bone , he thought may be cancer . Extra 80.00.. left with about 10 huge pills a day to give dog. Dog s refused them all after many attempts... basically learned nothing other than plus 3 protein in urine. I already knew that... could not tell me why though, same as last 2 vets.... way way over priced.  No value in going to holistic vet.  Placed on Answers dog frozen raw.  Huge mark up. Go to agwsy if you want to. It that.   Huge waste of money.  Basic rip off Read Less

After listening to Dr. Doug give a seminar at our local daycare and pet store, we decided that day that we would leave our current traditional vet and seek his holistic care for our one year old labradoodle Cola. In the seminar Dr. Doug spoke mainly on the importance of a raw diet and not over vaccinating, all music to our ears! The 75 minute one-way drive was nothing to make sure that our loved doodle would receive the best vet care in the area. After a basic examination, Dr. Doug began to educate us on holistic vet care and again really focused on a raw diet and not over vaccinating. Through this discussion we decided with Dr. Doug based on all of his research and experience that it would be best for Cola to not receive a lyme disease vaccine and focus more on preventing ticks. Dr. Doug then administered what we believed to be the agreed to vaccines and we were on our way! Upon checking out, it became apparent that something wasn't right as the lady working the front desk stepped away to speak with Dr. Doug. A few moments later, a vet tech asked us to bring Cola back into the exam room because Dr. Doug needed to see us briefly. Back in the exam room Dr. Doug informed us that "by mistake" he gave Cola the lyme disease vaccine and not the one he was supposed to give him! Now, lyme disease vaccines are common at most vets and in most dogs, but it is contrary to everything Dr. Doug says. Luckily for me Dr. Doug informed me that "I wouldn't be charged" for the lyme disease vaccine he "mistakenly" gave Cola.... While Dr. Doug was fairly apologetic and I do believe he has my pet's best care at heart, I find his carelessness today to be concerning. If I expected average treatment of my pet, I could have paid average money with an average vet and saved the three hour round trip. We sought Dr. Doug's care based on everything he spoke about at the seminar but unfortunately his carelessness resulted in care contradictory to what he preaches and promotes. Moments before injecting my dog with a vaccine, he spoke to us about how he advises against giving that exact vaccine. If my dog were a human child, this level of carelessness would have ended with one hell of a lawsuit. Again, I do think Dr. Doug has great intentions but this carelessness followed by his lack of willingness to try and make it right is disheartening. After mistakenly injecting my dog with a vaccine Dr. Doug advised us not to give him, I was slapped with a $300 and something bill, but don't worry...I wasn't charged for the lyme disease vaccine... Again, I really do think Dr. Doug has the animals best interest at heart, but this mixup could have been worse and I do believe Doug could have handled his mistake better.Read Less

we took our cat tisha a emergency visit yesterday we met Dr Steed I was nervous about a new vet. she was just wonderful it's so hard when there is new vet when she walked in I was at ease totaly. glad we got her I feel fine leaving my baby in their hands there thank God for wonderful people that help our furbabies. staff is great !!! Dr Jessica Steed has been my vet for a very long time and when she moved here it was a lot longer and another state lol to get there but there is no other person I trust more to see my fur babies, I'd follow her anywhere. She has been there since my babies were all 7 weeks and I can't imagine anyone else taking care of them. Very nice facility and well taken care of. Exam rooms are very clean and staff was very friendly. Most ppl get a little scared of Rottweilers but everyone loved my Simba . I mean how could they not?? How people treat my dogs are very important to me, and that's why Dr Steed has been number one in my book for a very long time. First time here and the staff made us feel very welcome and that means a lot especially when you are a big dog owner and need to trust the staff to care for your babies. Will be back of course with the rest of my kiddos Just an update was just there with my Saint Bernard and of course he was treated awesome by everyone and I couldn't be happier to see Dr Steed It's an amazing heartwarming feeling when you know your pets are in good hands I love them like children so I'm super happy that everyone is so gracious and friendly.Read Less

I began taking my dogs to Beaver Animal Clinic in 1994 when we brought home our first Golden Boy Bo. And I have been taking all of my dogs there since. The entire staff (over the years) are so friendly and compassionate, and provide the best care to our fur babies. We are very happy with the care that Beaver Animal Clinic provided for our little dog, Chase. Dr. Doug took time to listen to our concerns and explained the treatment plan in very understandable terms. We contacted Beaver Animal Clinic because our vet just wanted to throw medication at Chase's condition. I feel confident that Chase will respond to the treatment plan that Dr. Doug set. I have been taking my cats to Beaver Animal Clinic for more than 20 years. I usually see Dr. Kosturek, who is excellent. He is very knowledgeable and has a pleasant personality. He genuinely cares about animals. At one point, one of my cats was very sick and I believe Dr. Kosturek saved his life. The staff at Beaver Animal Clinic is likewise very caring and pleasant. Me and my wife have been here 3 or 4 times with our cat and every time has been a poor experience. I NEVER write bad reviews but I've given this place plenty of chances and each time is an utter failure. First of all the place is very expensive, and each trip has been over $100. I'm not against the price if I'm paying for a quality vet, but this place is not worth the money. Second, we try to tell the vet and nurses things we feel may be wrong with our cat that we are concerned about. They say they are listening, but then we are shut out of the room with our cat as they "do the checkup" and never follow up with our questions, concerns, or things they promise to talk to us about. For example, we talked about getting our cats teeth cleaned and they said they'd check her heart to see if it was strong enough then follow up with next steps. Well we never heard anything back about that they just gave her back to us and moved on to the next animal. Another example is our cat was sneezing a lot and had sinus issues so we tried explaining the situation. Before we were able to explain they pushed us away and told us to giver her an antibiotic. Unfortunately, they didn't let us finish because we were trying to tell them that we tried that antibiotic before and it made her quit eating. This place doesn't listen to you, all they want to do is funnel your animals through like cattle and collect an enormous fee for their poor services. Stay away from this place unless you like paying $100 for a 10 min appointment with no results. Read Less

If you are taking your animal to the Beaver Animal Clinic because they are associated with taking a holistic and alternative approach, make sure you ask to be seen by Dr. Doug Knueven; the other veterinarians are conventional. I'm rating their clinic 4/5 because of this mix-up. I feel the website is misleading and I was disappointed when my dog was treated with antibiotics within the first 5 minutes of a veterinarian (other than Dr. Knueven) seeing her for a mild eye issue. The BAC had a friendly staff, the offices were clean and they were flexible with setting up an appointment. I would recommend it if you are okay with seeing a conventional vet. Read Less

I haven't actually been to Beaver Animal Clinic. I have however attended one of Dr. Doug Knueven's seminars that he did in Tennessee. If you are looking for a holistic vet that knows his stuff, I highly recommend him! Even though he is far away from where I live, he has still been very responsive to my inquiries on issues with my little dog. He has given excellent advice that has been invaluable to improving my little dog's health. I will continue to seek advice from when needed and i recommend him without reservation!Read Less

I have been a client there for many years. Dr. Doug Knueven owns the clinic, and has been there for me and for my pets. He was one of the first holistic veterinarians in the area, and this is important in more ways than I have time to explain here...but I will say that he takes into consideration the entire well being of each pet. They are all treated as the individuals they are. On more than one occasion he has been responsible for saving the life of one of my pets. His caring way and healing energy are very special. And when time has made it necessary to say good-bye, he has been gentle and loving with my pets, and with me. I am grateful to have him to care for my pets. Dr Ingrid Rhinehart is a new addition to the clinic. She too, is an holistic vet and she is down to earth, straight forward and knowledgable. While I typically see Dr Knueven, I have seen her on several occasions and have only the highest praise for her. Recently my 13 year old golden mix had an issue arise with his eyes and Dr Knueven wasn t available. I was happy to see Dr Rhinehart. She promptly diagnosed the issue and worked with me on a treatment plan that not only addressed the eye problem, but she realized that my dog was dealing with high blood pressure that was exacerbating the problem. My dog did lose his eye, but it was due to a flare up of glaucoma plus uveitis . Dr Rhinehart is a skilled and gentle surgeon. No one wants this to happen with their pet, but if the worst does happen, and a serious condition is diagnosed, it is imperative to have good medical care. Thanks to her wonderful care, he is doing better each day. I can t say enough about her. She is intuitive, gentle and clearly loves what she does. She has seen more than one of my pets and has always been gentle, kind and good humored as well as skillful and a wonderful diagnostician. I am so glad to have her to turn to!Dr Peter Kosturek is a gentle man who cares deeply about the animals in his care. I have several pets and have always been not only satisfied but fervently grateful for the care they have been given at Beaver Animal Clinic and the wonderful doctors and caregivers there.
