The entire place is unorganized and the vet seems like he has no idea what he's doing. We recently waited hours to be seen for our dog's booster shots. Our dog once ate a pound of chocolate and we were concerned, and the vets response was "I've never heard of a dog dying from eating chocolate" - COMPLETELY untrue. He also wouldn't even attempt to cut his nails and said they didn't need it when they were clearly curling over and causing him to slip and slide all over our hardwood floors. Absolutely horrible. He doesn't care about animals one bit, do NOT take your pets here. Read Less

I'm not the person who would normally write a review, but the way me and my family were treated at this hospital was displeasing to say the least. We have loved and cared for our sweet dog, Blu for 11.5 years and unfortunately he began to get older and slower. He lost a decent amount of weight and was barely eating any of his food and excessively drinking water. He had peed in the middle of the night a few times so needless to say we desperately needed to bring him to the vet. He did not enjoy going to the vet due to his fear of going to get shots in the past. My mother made an emergency appointment with this office to come in at 12 pm. It destroyed my mother to have to give him a sedative and muzzle him (which was instructed in order for the vet to see him at all so he wouldn't bite) ((which he has never done)). My mother and I had to carry our large american bulldog from the car into the building with no assistance from any of the staff here, while he peed himself in fear and was unable to move due to the sedative. My mother was extremely upset because she knew there was a possibility that we may have to put him to sleep. We laid on the floor with him as my mother cried over top of him before the vet tech came in. She asked a few simple, short questions regarding his age and symptoms and left the room. About 5 minutes later the vet came into the room halfway and said  "Okay so were putting him down?" and my mother tried to express how she felt that he was sick and she didn't know what was wrong, or what to do and then the vet answered by saying "okay" and left the room he didn't even fully step into. He did not once even come down to look at Blu or evaluate him. I'm not a vet but I am a loving parent to my dog and I would of at least appreciated if the vet even PRETENDED to care about him or humor distressed owners by saying something to make any of this feel even the slightest bit better; let us know what was happened to him and that we were doing the right thing. He came back into the room shortly after and reached down with a needle sticking it into Blu's thigh and said "this is a anesthetic, and then I will be back in about 10 minutes to continue".  After the vet returned he got on the floor with a tube and a large syringe with a pink substance in it. He asked my mother for room so that he could shave Blu's leg hair down. My mother, being afraid and upset about what was happening to her dog, was trying to ask the vet questions about if he was in pain and what the vet was doing (she was only trying to understand and reach for comfort in her questions). The vet was EXTREMELY dismissive, rude and blunt in his answers. There was ZERO compassion or bedside manor given to our family. The first dose of what he described as "an overdose of sleeping medication" did not stop him from breathing after 10 minutes so the vet came back into the room with "another dose" and inserted the needle into his heart. Blu opened his mouth an stopped breathing in less than a minute. My mom was crying her eyes out at this point and I'm trying my hardest to be strong for her and keep it together while the vet is trying to talk about buying a paw print box. He exits the room and the vet tech returns stating the price of this visit. My mother wiping through tears in her eyes grabs her card to pay the woman and says they will call us when his asses come in. Then I sat with Blu on the floor waiting for the vet to come back to pick him off the floor and take him to the back. The vet came back in and asked if there was something else he could do for me and I asked him when he was going to take him back. The vet answered that he would when I left. I asked why he couldn't do it while I was still here and he answered with attitude telling me he needed to "put him in a body bag". Then when I finally got off the floor from mourning my sweet boy it seem as though they couldn't wait for me to leave so they could close for lunch. Never in my life have I been to a vet who seemed to hate animals and no regard for their owners. NOT ONCE did anyone in that office offer us an ounce of sentiment. We had just lost a member of our family and he was a sweet dog that was loving and loyal. He did not deserve to die in this cold mannered office. We are happy that he is not suffering anymore and he lived a long and beautiful life but I am HORRIBLY regretful that we ever stepped foot into this establishment.  Blu deserved better. **I have read your reviews and I would greatly appreciate if you did not waste your time writing a highly inappropriate rebuttal trying to justify yourself, I do not care to read it. This review is to simply express my experience to others and hopefully encourage you to change the way you treat families and their pets in the future.** Read Less

The vet is AWFUL at best! He makes it very clear in his demeanor & just his attitude that he doesn't care about your animal. He's like what do you want & is clearly annoyed if you have any questions! He's unprofessional & uncaring, he's there for a paycheck & that's it. He said yeah I can microchip your dog now no big deal, it's just a larger needle. Takes our dog out of the room, our dog is screaming crying in pain NOT AGGRESSION. We leave the room & head towards our dog, we're knocking on the door stop your done open the door give us our dog. Our dog is bleeding all over down his back & laying on the floor in the hall won't move. I had to carry him out of there bleeding. This isn't our first dog, we had our last dog microchipped from an amazing vet, NOT this A@@hole. That vet said I'll do the microchip while he's asleep too be fixed. If it's that painful you shouldn't just be grabbing them & sticking that in them! Plus with his attitude I have NO DOUBT he's super rough & doesn't care what animal he hurts, TRUST ME! It was so bad when we went in the hall & we're banging on the door his front desk person was already in the hall & wasn't happy with what was going on with our dog!!! This guy's a DICK & A BUTCHER, he has to be cheaper because there's no other way you'd even consider going there! My husband made it clear to the front we're NOT coming back ever this was the worst experience & the vet was awful start to finish, the front desk staff is like we know, we're so sorry!!! Read Less

Not only are Dr Broders prices for services low cost but he is the most honest vet I have met. He will never charge you for something that is not needed (unlike Hickory Vet Hospital) He truly cares for his clients and patients. What other vet do you know that leaves their PERSONAL number for any and all after hours emergencies?! His staff has always been friendly and helpful as well. He listens to all your questions and concerns but be aware he has walk in hours only so it is important he keeps your appointment moving so each client waiting after you is seen and attended to. Do not be fooled by the bad reviews. Keep in mind he goes into the appointments alone so his number one concern is the safety of your pet, yourself and himself while doing the physical exam. He will be honest if he can not perform an exam on your pet due to being too aggressive. If he is unable to do a service (surgery, work up for a very ill pet, imagining) he will give you advice on where to go and what to do from there. Plymouth Animal Hospital is THE vet hospital to go to. Read Less

I had been going to Banfield because I bought an elderly dog health plan so I could get my dogs teeth cleaned that year. Dog is now 14, and in general very good health.  Well he came down with an ear infection so on a Wednesday morning I called Banfield. They said yes it was an urgent problem and he needed to be seen right away , but they had no appointments until NEXT TUESDAY!! They told me to call around to all the other Banfields to see if I could get him seen at another one the closest of which is at least 8 miles away!. I ditched that idea and looked up some local vets and found Plymouth Animal Hospital.  Even though there is a no appointment policy we were seen promptly, Dr is personable and medially knowledgeable and gave him an exam and RX all for a very reasonable office visit price plus cost of meds. Our pets have always been treated very well by this vet.  First, I like how there are no set appointments, you just walk in. While this usually leads to a bit of a longer wait, it's nice to not have to wait a week or rely on the mercy of the staff to squeeze you in when your pet needs to see the vet, especially if you're not sure if it's an emergency situation or something that can wait a few days and be handled at a normal visit. Also, the prices are extremely reasonable for visits, shots, medicine, etc.Our visit yesterday is what prompted me to actually write this review.  We brought our 15 year old cat in knowing that there was something wrong and it was potentially time for her to be put to sleep, as much as I didn't want to believe it. My suspicions were unfortunately correct. I wanted to write this review because during our appointment I was a bit of a mess when Dr. Broder began telling us the prognosis. While I kind of expected to hear what he was saying based on her very fast decline in health, I needed to hear it from a professional and be reassured letting her go was the right thing to do. It's never easy to put a pet down, and the guilt associated with doing that can eat at you. I'm still pretty devastated at how fast her health went downhill and having to put her to sleep, but Dr. Broder was kind and extremely patient with us while we made our decision on what to do, and never pushed us to do any testing we were not comfortable with. He gave us time alone in the room after telling us our options, then after we made our decision he left us alone again to give us time to say goodbye to her. I appreciate how he handled everything with our very difficult decision. Read Less

Today was my first visit to Plymouth Animal Hospital. I just moved to the area and haven't found a vet yet. I realized this week that Gizmo is running out of meds for his chronic illness, plus he has been having issues with symptoms returning. The office was close to home and no appointments required. We didn't have to wait very long. Dr. Broder was very nice and up front with me. He told me that he does not treat Gizmo's particular illness. He would have refilled his meds, but since Gizmo is having problems, he needs to see a specialist.  I was bummed, but realize I should have called ahead of time to find out if he did. That's a mistake on my part.  Usually, this particular illness requires a specialist.  He gave me referrals of hospitals he recommended and also gave me names of places not to go. We brought our 7 year old rescued Vizlsa into the vet on Saturday. As nervous newbie dog owners, we waited for our turn. I can imagine that the wait is a little long sometimes, but I knew why when we started to interact with Dr. Broder - he gave us his undivided attention and it was great!  I had tons of questions about his bathroom activities, dry nose, food choices, harness fit...the list goes on. Dr. Broder took his time and was thorough and gentle. Even when my questions felt sort of dumb - he didn't make me feel that way at all.  Our dog needed a few shots, a full exam, prescription for a redish skin issue, more ear medicine to clear up an infection and some TLC. He gave Roscoe everything he needed and gave us the confidence to care for him. He showed me his ear canal and how to make sure the medicine got all the way in there without hurting the dog. He also gave us a simple solution for his nose (stating that if it didn't clar up, we would explre other options). I didn't think the pricing was outrageous, it wasn't cheap but this is a vet's office. I definitely felt like the care and expertise Dr. Broder had was worth what we paid. I am looking forward to bringing Roscoe back in 2 weeks for his next shot and building a working relationship with Dr. Broder, who seems great to me.Thanks, Dr. Broder - you made us feel a lot better about Roscoe. I started taking my cat to see Dr. Broder two or three years ago after my family's vet of over 25 years retired. Dr. Broder is thorough during examinations and very in tune to the animal's needs. I appreciate that he is honest in his evaluations and gives me a few courses of action along with his recommendation. He reminds me a lot of my previous vet because of his professional yet thoughtful approach to veterinary care.I first went to Plymouth after the local emergency care animal hospital recommended immediate surgery and extraction (of any broken pieces of tooth that might be floating around) for a lost fang. Since my cat was not bleeding or in any discomfort, I sought another opinion. I do not rush into things for myself, and I was not about to do that for my cat either. Dr. Broder was concerned but did not think that surgery was necessary. He had me monitor my kitty closely and suggested that I bring him back if the gums did not heal. Three years later my cat is doing just fine without his tooth, and I saved thousands on what would have been an unnecessary surgery.I recently rescued a dog and immediately took him to Dr. Broder, despite the fact that I moved about 40 minutes away. I trust Dr. Broder and the friendly staff at Plymouth Animal Hospital, so I will continue to make the trip for my pets. After my dog, Kody, was neutered at Plymouth Animal Hospital, Kody kept licking the sutures and area(totally our fault for not getting an e-collar.) He eventually developed an infection. Didn't think so.  It's a clinic, not UPEN.  Want all the fancy tests? Then go to a place that charges you accordingly and not $50.00... Worst vet I've ever used.We took our dog for neutering using Friends of animal certificate.  After the surgery, they didn't put an E-Collar on him and left him alone to take a lunch break.  Our dog chewed on the surgery area and caused a lot of damage.  When I see him on the second day in some cage at the basement, he looked terrible.  We took him directly to U Penn Vet hospital ER and he stayed there for the next five days and went through another surgery.  He fully recovered afterward.  Our final bill is $5000+.  Up till this day, Dr. Broder refused to take ANY responsibility for this and pretty much just said if we want to sue, go ahead.=======================================Response to Dr. Broder's comments:1) Felix's blood condition may contribute to his treatment at Penn; but I don't agree that it is the only reason.  If he didn't get the chance to chew on the surgery area and cause so much damage, the recovery process might be completely different.  2)  I talked to my original vet and the ones from U.Penn.  No one said anything about the danger of putting on an E-Collar on dogs. Felix has the E-Collar on for 2+ weeks, not a single incident.  3) There was never any cursing or yelling towards you, not sure where does that memory came from.Anyway, Dr. Broder certainly thinks he did everything right and it's all the dog's fault/problem; I disagree.  It's just my opinion. I've been taking my cat to Plymouth on and off over the past 9 years I've lived in the area. It was convenient to be able to walk in without an appointment and they had hours on Saturday as well. I never took her in with anything major (rashes, shots) until the end of 2011 when we started having problems with inappropriate urination (in her bed) which lead to them prescribing an anti-depressant for her which was working but lead in a very short time to much bigger problems than a stray pee. I last went to see them two days ago because my cat hadn't pooped in 4 days (side effect of the med) and as we were getting ready to go to see them at Plymouth, I noticed my cat looked yellow on her nose and inside her ears and I was alarmed there might be a liver problem. It was a Saturday and the cramped waiting room was packed with barking dogs. We waited nearly an hour to be seen, by which time things had emptied out. I told the doctor what had been happening (or not happening as it were) and I mentioned I thought she looked jaundiced as well. I asked also if he though the meds might be connected to her constipation as I read that it is a side effect of that anti-dep. He quickly examined her, not seeming to really listen to anything I had to say, denying that he had ever heard of such a side effect, and said her "color was in the normal range". They performed an enema and sent us home, saying to contact them Monday if she hadn't had a bowel movement by then. Monday comes and my cat has not pooped and she is STILL YELLOW. So I took her to Le Chat who confirmed that my cat had Hepatic Lipodosis and was in fact jaundiced because of it, her liver enlarged and prepared to have blood work and an ultrasound to figure out exactly what was wrong with her and what caused this. I was so livid that I was blown off when my cat clearly was visibly unwell. I felt like they had ZERO interest in the well-being of my cat or taking into account my observations about my kitty who I have lived with for 12 years and know pretty well when something is off. Hepatic Lipodosis is a very common condition in cats and can kill them if left untreated - basically the cat stops eating or doesn't eat enough and the body starts digesting itself which brings on jaundice.I will never EVER return to Plymouth and unless you have a minor thing to deal with there medically speaking, I recommend you think twice before putting your animal's health in their hands. They are cheap, but you get exactly what you pay for. Precious little. Read Less

Read Less

He was very upfront with me about which shots were absolutely necessary and how often they must be given. After my dog, Kody, was neutered at Plymouth Animal Hospital, Kody kept licking the sutures and area(totally our fault for not getting an e-collar.) He eventually developed an infection. Read Less
