March 2017 edit: I had to come back on here and edit my review after my last experience. We just had our dog, Shadow, put to sleep; a first for both my husband and I. Moon Vet not only squeezed us in on a Saturday (Shadow was unable to walk at this point so it was a "need to do today" situation) but gave us as much time as we needed before and after the procedure. This was the second time we saw Dr. McCune as we had taken Shadow in back in January 2017 to get her opinion on if we were nearing that time. She was fantastic then and just as fantastic this time. Prior to the euthanasia procedure, she told us what to expect (I didn't realize Shadow's eyes would remain open even when sedated!) and listened to us, even our stories about Shad. She never rushed us out of the room but showed us she understood and cared. The vet tech totally explained all options including the option we chose of a group cremation where the ashes are spread on the same farm as where the crematory is located. We also were able to get a paw print and it is beyond what I thought we would get to remember our buddy. Add to that the mail brought a sympathy card individually signed by the staff members. It made me cry happy tears for their kindness but also sad because I miss that old dog! This card is just one more telltale sign of a great vet clinic that not only cares about the pets they treat but also the people. ________________________________________________________________________My husband and I have 12 pets total - 4 dogs varying in age and size, 5 cats, and 3 birds including an African Grey. 9 of those pets have only ever gone to Moon Veterinary Hospital since we adopted them. Dr. Marshall and Dr. Betlem, who I have had the pleasure of seeing on different visits, love their jobs immensely. You can tell in the way they deal with different animals - Dr. Marshall is a puppy fanatic and Dr. Betlem loves everything but really loves the less common animals. It is so nice to have an avian vet on staff (Dr. Betlem) since we have birds that we want to make sure are healthy and then also have a baseline in case they begin to show signs of illness. Dr. Betlem even gave us tips on how to handle our birds in case we need to do something drastic to help them or calm them. While sometimes rushed and therefore they come off a little rough, the front desk ladies will work with you to make sure your pet is taken care of and you can tell they love pets too. Everyone seems to "know" us since we're in there maybe once every 2 months with a different bunch of pets each time. We had one cat who was feral and still acts that way even after taking her in at a few weeks old. We had her treated the same day we found her and they helped us find solutions to get flea treatments she needed but was too young to get and remove the eye infections she had while keeping in mind cost. About a year later, we took her in to get a set of shots needed prior to spaying. Being feral and skiddish, she was not pleasant and cuddly to take out to examine and give shots. Dr. Betlem offered to give her those shots while she was still sedated after spaying to make it easy on all of us (owners, Dr. Betlem, and vet techs). He even took special care in making sure she'd heal well because we hardly ever see her around the house let alone get to hold her to check sutures. She healed very well even to the point she was jumping on things the day after the procedure - yes, bad, but you can't stop a feral cat from doing what they want to do including jumping to high levels after just having major surgery!Dr. Marshall helped us with one cat who has constant chest congestion due to herpes (super common in cats). This cat will not eat soft food or treats, therefore could not be pilled regardless of what we tried. Dr. Marshall recommended an antibiotic shot that works wonders. We have to take him in about every quarter just to get the shot but it works so well. Now if only we could get him to eat all the L-Lysine in his dry food to avoid the outbreaks, we'd be good!We will continue to use Dr. Betlem and Dr. Marshall as long as they are at Moon Vet. The only thing I would recommend for the business itself is to work on appointment schedules better and to allot time for emergencies. I have had to wait upwards of an hour and a half after my appointment time to be seen which can be stressful when you have a bird, a cat and a dog all waiting on the appointment. But the service is great so you win some and lose some. Read Less
