My family has been bringing our dogs to see Dr. Marshall for years and have never had issues. My husband and I recently moved back to the area and started taking our 3 year old lab here with no issues. We just got a lab puppy and made an appt. Whoever I spoke with the schedule the appt. was friendly. The person who checked us in was miserable and super unfriendly. We live 25 minutes away from Moon now so it's a hike to go to this vet. I refuse to go out of my way for a company that doesn't want my business after our family has taken multiple dogs here for years. We will definitely be going elsewhere. Read Less

I recently adopted a 3 year old dog, and from the minute we brought him home, he started violently scratching his ears, keeping us up all night. One of my coworkers recommended this place, so I made an appointment right away and they were able to get him in a few days later. I can't say that I was too impressed with this doctor. Her tone wasn't very welcoming, and she didn't seem concerned about his ears. She said they didn't look red, so it was probably allergies (didn't even take samples to have them checked). She also told me he had a heart murmur and recommended we get a $4600 test done, without giving me any details on how serious he was! I was very unhappy with this experience and I felt like I was being taken advantage of because I'm young. I took him somewhere else because the scratching would not stop, and turns out, he has an ear infection in BOTH ears, and his heart murmur is barely a level 1, so he doesn't need any testing done. I do NOT recommend going here, and I will not be taking him back here again. Read Less

If you work a typical 8-5/need flexibility this might not be the best place for you. I tried to call Sunday evening when my puppy first started experiencing symptoms but they are closed so I called at 9 am (30 minutes after opening since I was in a meeting) to try to make an appointment for my dog that can’t use her back leg and is limping and having a hard time balencing and is clearly in pain. I was told she couldn’t be seen for at least a few days. The emergency vet when I called to go in said that since there wasn’t a clear reason why this was happening (falling/cuts/etc.) that it wasn’t an “emergency” it would be in my best interest to see a regular vet. I called my normal vet back in Columbus (I’m only here for the summer) who agreed. This office isn’t very flexible with a typical 8-5 schedule and doesn’t let you drop off/pick up pets at the end of the work day that need to be seen and also won’t work with you to get them in. A similar scenario happened after both of my dogs had a reaction to their lyme/lepto shot there and there was nobody to contact at the office since they closed after my appointment on Saturday. I had to spend a lot of extra money to take them to a different vet who was more than happy to help squeeze them in and give them an anti inflammatory/nausea injection to help with the reaction. I will be driving 3 hours back to Columbus this evening after work to have my pup seen after hours at a vets office there who is more than happy to squeeze in my pup who is clearly in pain. Becoming a patient at this office was clearly a mistake as I should have researched other offices with more flexible options/hours/techs on staff for reactions or emergencies. I won’t be back since it’s easier to drive 3 hours to and from somewhere else to be seen and wouldn’t recommend to anyone new either. Read Less

My dog for many years suffered with a horrible ear issue they could not fix. At one point one of the vets looked at his ears said they were so bad ( bleeding and swollen shut) there was nothing she could do and just gave me more steroids to give him (she didn't even try cleaning them out). At my wits end I tried another vet and they found he had a serious ear infection. After a few professional ear cleanings his horrible pain and suffering finally had been cured. I still feel guilty I stayed with them for so long for a condition that was easily curable. Read Less

March 2017 edit: I had to come back on here and edit my review after my last experience. We just had our dog, Shadow, put to sleep; a first for both my husband and I. Moon Vet not only squeezed us in on a Saturday (Shadow was unable to walk at this point so it was a "need to do today" situation) but gave us as much time as we needed before and after the procedure. This was the second time we saw Dr. McCune as we had taken Shadow in back in January 2017 to get her opinion on if we were nearing that time. She was fantastic then and just as fantastic this time. Prior to the euthanasia procedure, she told us what to expect (I didn't realize Shadow's eyes would remain open even when sedated!) and listened to us, even our stories about Shad. She never rushed us out of the room but showed us she understood and cared. The vet tech totally explained all options including the option we chose of a group cremation where the ashes are spread on the same farm as where the crematory is located. We also were able to get a paw print and it is beyond what I thought we would get to remember our buddy. Add to that the mail brought a sympathy card individually signed by the staff members. It made me cry happy tears for their kindness but also sad because I miss that old dog! This card is just one more telltale sign of a great vet clinic that not only cares about the pets they treat but also the people. ________________________________________________________________________My husband and I have 12 pets total - 4 dogs varying in age and size, 5 cats, and 3 birds including an African Grey. 9 of those pets have only ever gone to Moon Veterinary Hospital since we adopted them. Dr. Marshall and Dr. Betlem, who I have had the pleasure of seeing on different visits, love their jobs immensely. You can tell in the way they deal with different animals - Dr. Marshall is a puppy fanatic and Dr. Betlem loves everything but really loves the less common animals. It is so nice to have an avian vet on staff (Dr. Betlem) since we have birds that we want to make sure are healthy and then also have a baseline in case they begin to show signs of illness. Dr. Betlem even gave us tips on how to handle our birds in case we need to do something drastic to help them or calm them. While sometimes rushed and therefore they come off a little rough, the front desk ladies will work with you to make sure your pet is taken care of and you can tell they love pets too. Everyone seems to "know" us since we're in there maybe once every 2 months with a different bunch of pets each time. We had one cat who was feral and still acts that way even after taking her in at a few weeks old. We had her treated the same day we found her and they helped us find solutions to get flea treatments she needed but was too young to get and remove the eye infections she had while keeping in mind cost.  About a year later, we took her in to get a set of shots needed prior to spaying. Being feral and skiddish, she was not pleasant and cuddly to take out to examine and give shots. Dr. Betlem offered to give her those shots while she was still sedated after spaying to make it easy on all of us (owners, Dr. Betlem, and vet techs). He even took special care in making sure she'd heal well because we hardly ever see her around the house let alone get to hold her to check sutures. She healed very well even to the point she was jumping on things the day after the procedure - yes, bad, but you can't stop a feral cat from doing what they want to do including jumping to high levels after just having major surgery!Dr. Marshall helped us with one cat who has constant chest congestion due to herpes (super common in cats). This cat will not eat soft food or treats, therefore could not be pilled regardless of what we tried. Dr. Marshall recommended an antibiotic shot that works wonders. We have to take him in about every quarter just to get the shot but it works so well. Now if only we could get him to eat all the L-Lysine in his dry food to avoid the outbreaks, we'd be good!We will continue to use Dr. Betlem and Dr. Marshall as long as they are at Moon Vet. The only thing I would recommend for the business itself is to work on appointment schedules better and to allot time for emergencies. I have had to wait upwards of an hour and a half after my appointment time to be seen which can be stressful when you have a bird, a cat and a dog all waiting on the appointment. But the service is great so you win some and lose some. Read Less

Third bird I was told had mites, but luckily at this point I realized I need to start going elsewhere. Followed up with a vet who ran tests unlike MV & it was a bacterial infection. Also, whoever attempted to clip my baby's birds wings, was supposed to do a slight clip, but HACKED her wings. They cut them completely wrong so she will never be able to regrow flight feathers and be able to fly. I took her to a specialist in another state and they were floored at what they did to her wings. The customer service at this place was disgraceful. When I moved to the area, this clinic came highly recommended from others so I took both of my pets there, and also took my new kitten there. Reception staff was rude and unhelpful. The only bright spot I have to say were the vet techs, very caring and helpful individuals. Some of the doctors were OK, however when I took my 2 year old dog in for an injured paw, they told me that they wanted to put her under and clean her teeth to the tune of $700 even though at her checkup 2 months prior the same doctor had said that her dental health was "perfect." When I declined I was told that not having her teeth cleaned was cruel to her and that I had "no business" owning animals. The worst part about my whole ordeal with this place was getting records transferred to my new vet's office. I had a difficult time getting time off work to take my kitten in for his booster shots, so my boyfriend at the time took him for me. It was the first and only time he ever took any of my animals there. At no point was it brought to my attention that any changes were made to their records, during future visits I was only asked to verify address and phone information. Imagine my surprise when I finally decided to change veterinary offices and I was told that my pets' records could not be released because *I* was not their owner! In the ONE visit for booster shots that someone else took ONE of my animals in, the reception staff put HIS name on the account as owner of all 3 animals. The worst part of this ordeal was that these records were needed urgently to treat a health issue for one of my cats. It took another EIGHT MONTHS and the threat of legal action to get anything handled.Steer clear of this place at all costs, even in an emergency - go to MetVet or PVSEC. I regret ever bringing my pets here.

Read Less

If you work a typical 8-5/need flexibility this might not be the best place for you. I tried to call Sunday evening when my puppy first started experiencing symptoms but they are closed so I called at 9 am (30 minutes after opening since I was in a meeting) to try to make an appointment for my dog that can't use her back leg and is limping and having a hard time balencing and is clearly in pain. I was told she couldn't be seen for at least a few days. The emergency vet when I called to go in said that since there wasn't a clear reason why this was happening (falling/cuts/etc.) that it wasn't an "emergency" it would be in my best interest to see a regular vet. I called my normal vet back in Columbus (I'm only here for the summer) who agreed. This office isn't very flexible with a typical 8-5 schedule and doesn't let you drop off/pick up pets at the end of the work day that need to be seen and also won't work with you to get them in.

Read Less

Second baby bird I was told had something wrong with her toe called bumble foot & he just put a bird down the previous week for same thing. She's does not have that! How sad for a bird that can live for 60 years to be stripped of this. Very disappointed in my experience with my birds here.Read Less

Read Less
