I highly recommend this vet! They are caring and care for each and every animal they treat... like family. I trusted my 3 fur babies with them.. 2 who i lost. One husky had epilepsy and one megaesophagus. Other vets didn't understand how to treat these conditions fully but creatures did! When it came time to cross them over the rainbow bridge everyone was sympathetic to our needs and treated us like family. My husky sugar will continue to see these guys till she too passes over and all my fur babies in the future! Read Less

I adopted a dog from a rescue who got very sick on the first night. The staff was able to get me a new costumer appointment the same day. They were very kind and realistic about what the puppy needed and how much it would cost. They gave me a few different options to help keep cost low but still care for the puppy. We just adopted a 2 month old puppy. I knew of Creature Comforts from when my parents took their pets and now my sister takes her dog. So, since they both have/had good experiences, it was a no brainer that we use them for vet services for our puppy. Dr. Lavan and the whole staff treated our puppy with kindness, love and compassion. I always have a great experience in taking my Chi here. They are very understanding and comforting with him as he gets his nails clipped because he freaks out when getting them done. I came to Creature Comforts for the first time at a very difficult time. It was time to put my 13 year old lab down. I had lived in the area for a little while, but other than keeping up with shots through clinics (not at CC), I had not had any veterinary care and no regular vet for a few years due to financial issues. My lab was clearly at her end, and I called Creature Comforts for help. Their kindness blew me away - they were not judgemental at all for my not having had her at a vet for a few years. They were reassuring in that I had given her a good life. They were extremely helpful in providing the information I needed over the phone, and again in person. They were extremely thoughtful in how they handled my visit. They did not try to push me to do unnecessary tests. They loved on my old girl. They let me stay while they put her down, and gently held on to her as she laid down for the last time. They gave me as much time as I needed to say goodbye, even though it was the very end of their work day. When I left the exam room, I realized they had something at their front desk to alert others that someone was having to say goodbye to their beloved pet. Then, two weeks later, I received a card signed by everyone in the office and a note that a donation had been made in my old girl's name at the local SPCA. All this kindness and thoughtfulness for someone who had never been a client before this first visit. I have never had such a good encounter with a veterinarian's office. I've been taking my dogs here for about 3 years now and it's been delightful every time. The staff are very understanding of my dogs and give their best to care for their needs. The doctors there are all so sweet and understanding and they definitely spoiled me.Although they absolutely deserve 5 stars, I took two off because of Dr. Johnson. My dog loves everyone and she is the first person that he doesn't like! And I feel the same about her because she seems careless. The people that came with me and saw her felt the same too. My dog growled at her when she tried to take his temperature and she made a face and didn't do it (the last time SHE did it, he yelped in pain and it was the first time that happened)- when she was taking temperature of my other dog, he was more relaxed- then she remarked that this is how 'normal' dogs behave. My dog doesn't have to like you and that doesn't make him an abnormal dog.She made other smart remarks about my dog and how his collar was coming off repeatedly instead of saying something meaningful and appropriate for the check up- I didn't pay the check up fee to hear her thoughts and irrelevant comments.When I asked her about my dog's tooth, she didn't even look closely to give details of why she thought it had to be pulled out. She later looked at it 3 times to explain and confirm herself. It made me so nervous that I asked if the surgeon would check the tooth to be pulled before they actually do anything.Dr. Johnson is definitely less understanding and less compliant for what I had to say and she proudly does things differently than other doctors there.When my dog was a pup and ready for all his shots, she made him come 2 different times because she thought he was too small- while other doctors let my other dogs get all 3 shots at once and they even smaller than him!She made sure I couldn't make appt for all 3 shots, while I was trying to make the next appt with the receptionist- she stood in the next room, listened to our conversation and called to make sure that didn't happen. I would've been more understanding if it didn't feel so much like a power game. If she doesn't like what you're saying and if you don't agree with her, I feel like she just shuts down and ignore me. And I feel disrespected.I had my fair share of being understanding with her and I've wanted to say something about her after the first time meeting her so it feels to good to get it out.This hospital is definitely the best, but do try to avoid her. This is the most caring veterinarian I've ever come in contact with, each and every single person that works there is very nice. You walk in the door and they greet you with a smile and within seconds they're speaking to you about your pet by name. I love this place when my last pet passed away I was extremely upset and they were so nice and kind to me they gave me comfort and then the next day a plant showed up at my house with a card, I will never go anywhere else. Very disappointed with the service from this vet. Went there today, my dog is bleeding from her nose, the vet did an examination and gave me no summary of her findings. She left the room and the assistant came back in with estimates $754.79-$1364.80 never seen the doctor again. So I have no answers and paid $68 and still have a sick dog. Read Less

I have been taking my puppy to Creature Comforts for the past 6 months, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. This is my first puppy, but I'm not too worried since the staff here is extremely courteous, accommodating and knowledgeable. They've walked me through all the vaccinations and procedures, and have answered all of my questions (even if they were dumb). They know what they are doing, but they are also compassionate and not so cut and dry when it comes to vet visits. One look at my kitten and they had to call every vet tech in to oogle over how cute she is. Just icing on the cake. They held her and snuggled her through her entire first visit and her visits after that. They really care about your pet and it shows. They are also very flexible with your medical plan for your pet as well. For example, I did not plan on having my kitten as an outdoor cat and told them that she did not need a certain shot. I know many places would argue with me about it, but they agreed and did not administer the shot. I swear my kitten loves the vet more and more each time she goes because of all of the wonderful staff here that make her feel so safe and loved.Read Less

All I can say about this place is EXCELLENT!  Dr. Allum saved our kitten's life. We called them when they opened at 8:00 and they took the kitten right away. The kitten's belly was distended, he wasn't urinating, and his penis was enlarged.  The night before we took him to our normal vet, who basically told me she'd never seen anything like this before, and pretty much wrote him off.  When Dr. Allum saw the kitten the next morning, she said she couldn't believe the kitten made it through the night and immediately did an ultrasound and a small surgical procedure to release the urine.  Needless to say, I will be transferring all my dog's records to this vet and will now be taking both our pets to Creature Comforts! I'm very happy with level of care that I received from my first visit. They were extremely attentive to me and my pups needs. My dogs/kids don't like for me to leave their sides during difficult moments and they were fine with that here too. A lot of offices don't want you to see how they handle your animals behind clothes doors because it can get difficult I'm sure. Either way they had no problem!I wasn't able to come in at a certain time and they immediately tried to fit me in...TWICE!My dogs are a bit skittish of the Vet and this was the first time they were actually manageable and I really don't think they even knew they received a shot.Big Lu poo-pood a little bit and the tech didn't complain or was upset.The receptionist called the next day to ask how the pups were doing and I felt they generally cared.I also liked that they have a very "open" view of hiring and I appreciate any business with that sort of view .....without going into detail. :) I'm happy and so are my 2 lil' kids! :) Read Less

I can't believe we didn't find Creature Comforts sooner!!!  We took my 11 1/2 yr old dog here because she was in a lot of pain & could no longer get up on her own. Creature Comforts got her in for an appointment that same day & took such good care of her!  Unfortunately, our first appointment was our last because we had to say goodbye to her that day. Although this was our first time at the office, the staff were exceptional from beginning to end!!  They were ALL so friendly & sweet to us and our dog that you would never know it was our first time there!  They went out of their way to make things as peaceful as possible, not only for our sweet girl, but also for us while we were spending our last moments with her!  About a week later, they sent us a beautiful, hand written, personalized, signed card from all of the staff. This small gesture went a long way in easing our minds in knowing that our loving companion was treated with all of the love & respect that she showed us for 11 1/2 yrs....even after we left that day!  Creature Comforts is a wonderful place with staff who truly love and care about you and your pet!! ,As a nurse I find myself always critiquing health care providers but even more so for my pets. Dr. DiMaio and the staff at Creature Comforts are exceptional at the very least. My kitty was seen for an oral abscess that was misdiagnosed at an emergency veterinary hospital. Dr. DiMaio saw the problem and provided treatment immediately then fit him in for an emergency checkup 2 days later to ensure he was healing well. There were no unnecessary tests/costs involved for which I was grateful. What impressed me the most was her concern and need to treat the level of discomfort he was experiencing. I would not think of going anyplace else.  Dr. Karen Allum is absolutely brilliant as well as warm hearted.  She has compassion for people and animals. She will always take the time to calmly explain what is going on and what is needed in care of your pet.  She volunteers her spare time to do free surgery in poor countries where vets are desperately needed. The staff is ALWAYS consider and so very understanding.  After treating my Tonkinese cat for 5 years in renal failure, I know my boy would not have lived that long without Creature Comforts' treatment and love.   Every person there has HEART.  They respect people that care for their pets properly and don't give up on an animal because things may get difficult.  So many people want a puppy or kitten, but not a dog or a cat.  They may not be ready for the commitment and responsibility that comes with owning an animal.   If Dr. Allum sees this in a person, she will tell them.  You see, she cares about animals; that is why she became a veterinarian.  I have been going to Creature Comforts for close to 20 years and I highly recommend them.  Dr. Allum pulled my Tonk through a serious surgery that I never expected him to make it through.  NEVER under-estimate her calm or humble demeanor. I've been taking my Boston Terrier, Jack, to Dr. Lavin for about five years. All of the doctors and staff are always so sweet and pleasant and you can tell that they really care about our animal friends. If they find a problem, they take the time to explain everything and even send me home with a printout describing the condition. They also take the time to call and check up on Jack at home to see how he's doing. I even moved 30 minutes away, yet I still make the trip. Highly recommend. Read Less

Hours have decreased since I started using them in 2011; no boarding options; vets don't always seem to know what they're talking about; prescriptions (Heartguard) have been messed up.  Staff is nice, office is clean and stylish, vet assistants have been the best part.  I am grateful that my dog has only needed basic care so far, but she's not getting any younger and I'll be looking elsewhere soon. We originally took our puppy to Trooper Vet and while we were satisfied with the services, we felt that the prices were a bit much.  A friend recommended us to Creature Comforts after they provided excellent care to her special needs dog.  We've now been with CCVH for 2 1/2 years and having nothing but great things to say about them!  The place is immaculate, everyone on the staff, from the front desk employees to the techs to the doctors themselves, are friendly and go out of their way to make sure every question or need you have is resolved.  (I actually told my husband I want a part-time job here b/c they're so awesome, but he's afraid I'd bring home every sick and stray animal I meet)!  The prices are reasonable and they can usually accomodate last minute emergency appointments.  They offer deals on the heartworm and tick medicines as well.I highly recommend this place, I feel completely comfortable knowing that my dog is in good hands every time he goes here. A friend recommended I see Dr. Karen Allum at Creature Comforts after expressing my disappointment with my experiences with local Vets (I am have been very disapointed with Andorra Veterinary, Hickory, and Banfield).  The office is not convenient to my home, but the recommendation came so strongly I thought I would give it a try.  I am so happy I did!Dr. Allum sat and discussed every problem my dog was having with me in great detail.  I was so impressed by her obvious comittment to her profession & her passion, giving 100% of her attention and devotion to her clients.  She did not push pricey procedures or medication on me like all 3 previously mentioned Animal Hospitals have, but rather, told me what, in fact, my dog really did NOT need.
