This vet should not be allowed to practice on animals. I’ve lived here for 16years and had my first unfortunate event back in 2006 with him. I brought my 10yr old golden retriever here because he just went from a vibrant dog to collapsing one day, so I brought our beloved boy to the closest Vet which was here. When we got there it was shortly after 4pm. They took us in and ran some blood tests and came back to us about 4:50pm. The vet told me “your dog is very very sick! He seems like he has been poisoned! We are closing for the day. You need to take him to a 24hr facility!” Confused and shocked and completely baffled I stumbled out to my truck with my teenage son as the Vet and his tech carried my poor dog to our truck so we could bring him elsewhere for emergency care. I drove from there to Rt 80W to head to Dr Wayne in Scotrun. Our poor dog laying lethargic on my sons lap in the back as I try to battle morons to the highway. Just before I got to the highway our poor dog began to gag and vomit — he then died on my sons lap!!! My poor son had his childhood dog die on his lap and stayed that way all the way to Scotrun!! Imagine as a mother, a pet owner for 10years, driving as safely as you can listening to your son sobbing and screaming your dogs name from here to Scotrun!! We pulled in to Dr Wayne’s and he RAN out to our truck and sadly confirmed he was gone. That rotten selfish Vet didn’t care about our dogs health!! He only cared that his business day was over!! I’ve never returned in all of these years. Until my now adult sons dog (who was 17) woke up one morning and collapsed. Again he only wanted to get him somewhere fast and figured MAYBE the Vet facility had improved over the last 10yrs. NOPE!! They made us wait an unbelievable amount of time considering the poor old guy couldn’t move. What the vet did next we couldn’t have know until it was too late. He ran blood work and confirmed he was in ESRD and given how old he was he needed to be put to sleep. We agreed it was best for the poor guy and he explained the process (we’ve been through it many times over 25yrs of having pets). We expected it to be quick, as our regular vet has responsibly done in the past with our other senior pets. NOPE he gave him and injection of SOMEthing and we thought okaybits time for goodbyes but the dog started having SEIZURES!!! We screamed and opened the back room door and he came in slowly and completely unaffected and said he only gave him the sedative part! Then tells us that when the sedative is given when there is organ shut down they will have seizures!!! THEN WHY IN HELL WOULD YOUR PURPOSELY TORTURE AN ANIMAL LIKE THIS!!!! We ordered him to immediately end our poor dogs suffering, which he did. My son has been forever scarred by this Veternarian. He ought to have his license revoked and this place should be shut the hell down!!! He is the epitome of a MONSTER!!

Needed an emergency visit for my dog and not only did they accommodate within an hour but at an extraordinarily reasonable rate. I was ready for xrays but the exam was so comprehensive that I was assured they were unnecessary. And he was 100% right. A shot and meds to go for pain and rest was exactly what my dog needed. They have me and our pack of 3 as clients for life!

Smithfield has made our two kitties so comfortable. Even our terribly shy Bengal isn't afraid to go in for his visits when there are "needles" involved. His vaccinations go by and he just purrs. We've been to three vets in the area over the last seven years in search of our forever vet. A year ago we discovered Smithfield and are so very happy we did.

I have been using Smithfield Animal Hospital for the last 5 years since I have been in PA, and I absolutely love them. I have 7 fur babies and never once had a complaint or problem with the care of my pets or the staff. The office is clean and never had a problem getting in for an appointment when needed. My pets have all been spayed and neutered there as well as had their annual vaccines. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who has pets and in need of medical care. My fur babies and I thank you all for everything you have done and we will see you when annual vaccines are due again.

I recommend this Hospital to all Pet Lovers, I took My Princess ( Chihuahua) here last week, she was not Eating, Drinking going to the Bathroom or Getting up, I was thinking the worse, on my way there. But after the Examination Dr Sloan, suggested a blood test, where he found Liver Issues, he Gave us Medicine and injected her as well, the next day, she did not show any improvement, feeling desperate, I called m to make an appt to put her down, I was not gonna put her in any more pain. Before heading to the Hosp I tried once again and offered something to eat, which!!!!! ate it all and asked for more!!!!!!!, Now she's barking pushing her sister anxious to see me approach her with her food, I am the Happiest and Grateful with God and Dr Sloan, and the Staff.

The service here is absolutely great. Because my mom barely knows English, the animal hospital has a bilingual veterinary technician and she was super helpful! The receptionist was also very kind and Dr. Sloan definitely knows what he is doing. You can most certainly tell that everyone who works here has compassion and cares about the wellbeing of your pets.

I definitely recommend coming to this clinic! The people are very experienced and friendly, and when I went here with my father, who speaks nearly no English, they had another Spanish-speaker! This greatly relieved me because it can be tiring to translate everything for him, especially in a place where everybody is monolingual. I thank everyone who works here for making my experience great, and I will certainly come again.

The Dr. and his staff are very professional as they are compassionate, knowledgeable and quick. They were able to diagnose a serious illness to my pet Moochie. He was diagnosed with a cancerous growth in one limb. I am very thankful I went to Smithfield Animal Hospital as they saved the life of my beloved cat. Lacked any compassion in any way and clearly looked out for their financial gain before the well being for our poor little guy (dog). You will regret you decision walking through their door and subjecting you four legged member of your family to this "hospital". Take the chance of bringing your per here once, (and this is an absolute) once a time machine is invented, allowing you to go back in time and correct the mistake that you made. I'll never forgive myself by coming here and hope this review saves at least someone that you love.

I would give zero stars if I could. As someone who has a vet tech degree and has worked in the animal industry for 17+ years, I have seen some great and some not so great things. The receptionist was rude, the hospital policies are clearly in place to overcharge a client as much as possible and the clinical skills of the vet tech and vet were questionable. I reluctantly brought in an animal in an emergency situation and rest assured I don't care if I have to drive another half hour I will never set foot in that place again. In no hospital that I've ever been to, as an employee or a client, has an emergency been told to sit and wait, or asked how payment would be made before the animal was even seen. In no hospital I've been to has any decent, competent veterinarian allowed an unskilled vet tech (assuming this person even has those credentials) to try in vain to administer euthanasia solution, only succeeding in blowing the vein and letting the animal's suffering go on for several minutes longer than necessary. I was appalled. This may be the place to take your perfectly healthy animal for a yearly physical if you don't mind being overcharged for an office visit and don't mind rude staff, but have a back up plan for when the time comes that your pet is either sick or injured because I don't believe this hospital to be competent in any way.

Not very nice.Have nothing good to say about the Receptionist she is not very nice. Having been using them for years, never a problem. Not sure if she is new but she thinks she owns the place. Not very caring. I will never use this service again because of her. I will never refer anyone there. I have heard from several people this business has become just that a business not very caring about the pets.

Needed an emergency visit for my dog and not only did they accommodate within an hour but at an extraordinarily reasonable rate. I was ready for xrays but the exam was so comprehensive that I was assured they were unnecessary. And he was 100% right. A shot and meds to go for pain and rest was exactly what my dog needed. Smithfield has made our two kitties so comfortable. Even our terribly shy Bengal isn't afraid to go in for his visits when there are "needles" involved. His vaccinations go by and he just purrs. We've been to three vets in the area over the last seven years in search of our forever vet. A year ago we discovered Smithfield and are so very happy we did.

Take the chance of bringing your per here once, (and this is an absolute) once a time machine is invented, allowing you to go back in time and correct the mistake that you made. Worst experience of my life brought my dog in an emergency after call and conforming the could handle to issues but was made to wait and then told had to take her to a BETTER more competent animal hospital. Then was charged for the office visit.

Vrey quick vist just to get my cat his shots..they were good with him and everything went well. A little expensive but this place is close from home and was the only vet in the area that would answer ...

I would give zero stars if I could. As someone who has a vet tech degree and has worked in the animal industry for 17+ years, I have seen some great and some not so great things. The receptionist was rude, the hospital policies are clearly in place to overcharge a client as much as possible and the clinical skills of the vet tech and vet were questionable. I reluctantly brought in an animal in an emergency situation and rest assured I don't care if I have to drive another half hour I will never set foot in that place again. In no hospital that I've ever been to, as an employee or a client, has an emergency been told to sit and wait, or asked how payment would be made before the animal was even seen. In no hospital I've been to has any decent, competent veterinarian allowed an unskilled vet tech (assuming this person even has those credentials) to try in vain to administer euthanasia solution, only succeeding in blowing the vein and letting the animal's suffering go on for several minutes longer than necessary. I was appalled. This may be the place to take your perfectly healthy animal for a yearly physical if you don't mind being overcharged for an office visit and don't mind rude staff, but have a back up plan for when the time comes that your pet is either sick or injured because I don't believe this hospital to be competent in any way.

Not very nice.Have nothing good to say about the Receptionist she is not very nice. Having been using them for years, never a problem. Not sure if she is new but she thinks she owns the place. Not very caring. I will never use this service again because of her. I will never refer anyone there. I have heard from several people this business has become just that a business not very caring about the pets.
