Elkins Park Veterinary Hospital

Elkins Park, Pennsylvania
General Info
Elkins Park Veterinary Hospital provides skilled and empathetic pet care in the Elkins Park area. We understand that pets are important members of the family. Through collaborative teamwork, we strive to promote wellness, address chronic medical issues and alleviate emergency concerns. Elkins Park Veterinary Hospital in Elkins Park helps Pennsylvania pet owners maintain their pets’ routines at home and track seasonal check-ups with the wellness plans they offer. “Visits” start with the review of several “observations” such as activity, appetite, and sleep changes; environmental issues (i.e., weather-related discomfort); and household disruptions. A comprehensive medical check also looks at the flexibility of a dog’s joints, the health and quality of their skin and coat, teeth, weight trends and heart function. Based on the previous visit data, healthcare providers assess the patient’s progress and determine whether it would be beneficial to adjust pacing and follow-up. Elkins Park Veterinary Hospital also provides parasite prevention, vaccination, nutritional and chronic care support. Veterinary timelines arise from the interrelation of four spheres: academic (university semesters), seasonal (weather patterns), senior dog (geriatric comfort needs), and family caregiver (human availability). Veterinary professionals might also suggest more frequent visits during allergy season, prior to travel, and as puppies and kittens reach specific growth milestones. Upon departure, clients receive bespoke care summaries alongside at-home visit checklists and seasonal reminders. The digital logs bridge the gap between everyday activities and long-term health goals. Families do not routinely apply the method in their daily lives. Elkins Park Veterinary Hospital turns everyday household activities of Elkins Park and Pennsylvania households into veterinary excellence by bridging the divide between planning and implementation and elevating routine experiences to dependable services. They are committed to the prevention, early identification, and timely treatment of health problems. Customers appreciate the transparency, educational support, and personalized advice they receive. Whether it is a complex diagnosis, or liver disease management, the team remains involved in every senior pet case. As more pet owners discover their innovative approach to animal healthcare, the company’s reputation continues to flourish.

I moved to NE Philly from Skippack several years ago but had still been going back up to Trooper Vet for my boys yearly physicals.  After a UTI in one of the cats that required 3 separate trips, I decided I needed to establish a vet closer for emergency care and in 2017 took my cats in for a check up.  Im May of this year, I noticed 1 of my cats was losing weight and was throwing up his food 2 - 3 times a week.  I took him in and had him examined.  They did blood work and xrays and pronounced that everything was fine.  They said there was some dried fecal matter and sent me home with a laxative.  The problem grew worse and so the 1st of June I took my cat to Trooper.  During a hand examination, the doctor felt a lump in the cats stomach and sent him right into Xray.  Apparently what Elkins Park saw as fecal matter was actually cancer that had grown substantially in 3 weeks.  The Trooper vet provided me with a copy of the Xray and even I could see how HUGE the mass was.  Trooper Vet requested a copy of Elkins Park Xray - since I hadn't been given one, and what they received was a scanned copy in email that Troopers vet couldnt even read.  Were they hiding their incompetence of even reading the 1st xray?  I spoke w Dr Dennish and took him a copy of the Xray.  He called and said he would look it over.  That was the last we heard.  After a mis diagnosys and a biopsy surgery and an Aspiration, we had to put our 11 year old down yesterday.  Trooper could feel the mass - Elkins park passed it off as dried poop.  This is the LAST place I would take a beloved pet Read Less

Dr. Dennish is the best! When my mom first bought our new puppy we didn't know where to start. We initially took her to the SPCA for her shots and then decided to take her to Banfield for a free wellness visit. After our experience at the SPCA we decided that we didn't want to wait in a lobby with so many people and animals, practically fighting to be seen. I also, didn't like the overall feel of the Banfield in Horsham, they weren't really helpful and didn't address my concerns. Anyway, Dr. Dennish was suggested to me on social media. During our first visit gave us a puppy accordion folder that has papers to document all her shots and it even has a lot of helpful information for new dog owners. He asked us the questions that we were going to ask, addressed all of our concerns and more. You can tell that Dr. Dennish really loves what he does and loves animals. My normal vet office was overbooked one day, so I took my kitty here to Dr. Katz to check out some skin allergies he had been struggling with before leaving on a trip. From the moment we got there they were not gentle with my cat at all, treated me like I was a 12 year old who had never interacted with a cat before, and my cat got extremely agitated. My cat is usually a dream at the vet -- super calm, loves everyone, no probs (I know, I know, doesn't sound like a cat, but I swear it's the truth) but the way they dragged him out of his carrier with gloves was just not working. They gave me some antihistamines, didn't really explain what to look for if things were worsening/improving...it all just felt rushed, impersonal, and like we were a burden to their day. Meh - from a veterinary standpoint they provided the correct care, his rash went away...I just feel like there is much better in the area. Read Less

We made our first visit to the Rhawnhurst/Elkins Park Veterinary Hospital yesterday with our pet rat. Not many vets are trained to treat "exotics" and even if they are, they may not specifically know much about rats -- who are not quite like other rodents. Dr. Denish's knowledge of and appreciation for rats as pets immediately put our minds at ease. He asked in-depth questions, did a thorough examination, and gave us a good plan of action for treating our sick little guy. Everyone in the office was very kind and professional, and treated our little rattie with as much care and concern as the dogs and cats coming in and out. This was our first time taking one of our rats to a vet, and I am so very thankful they were able to fit us in so quickly and that they happen to be in our neighborhood! Hopefully we won't have to bring either of our rats in again (fingers crossed our sick fella comes around!) --- but our kitties are due for shots soon and we will be happily taking them to Dr. Denish from now on, too! During our first visit gave us a puppy accordion folder that has papers to document all her shots and it even has a lot of helpful information for new dog owners. He asked us the questions that we were going to ask, addressed all of our concerns and more. You can tell that Dr. Dennish really loves what he does and loves animals. We also got her spayed here too and the incision scar is invisible. Dr. Dennish will be our family's vet forever! Read Less
