So I had to bring my cat there for an important issue yet it was not yet medical. Usually I go to AAA animal clinic, which EAH runs. It is near my house and is geared toward lower income, and being disabled, they are a great help. My cat is 18, and she rapidly developed bad matting and dreaded fur while I was out of town dealing with family issues. I originally had her set up at AAA but was concerned due to her advanced age. Most vets lean toward anesthetizing cats to be groomed, especially shaved. They called me with the same concerns and preferred to do it at the main hospital. I agreed knowing it would be way more expensive. When they called me to pick her up, they assured me she was alright, and upon observing her realized she was relaxed and didn't need to be put under, so they gave her a mild relaxant to make sure she stayed calm. All in all, they were caring and extremely professional, and further more, the final cost was half the price of their low end estimate, which was not much more than the groomer who I originally planned to do it, but they wouldn't have been able to take China cat in for another month, and EAH got her in a matter of days. We had to say goodbye to our dog of over 12 years. The staff were so understanding. They had taken care of our dog for wellness visits and occasional boarding for all those years. Unfortunaly we will be taking our business elsewhere. We have been taking our babies there for years and the crappy attitude from the front office people are terrible!!!! Tried to give you guys the benefit of the doubt, but it just gets worse. Brought my sick kitty in the day after xmas and we had got like 60 inches of snow. The lady was so rude cause you guys were understaffed. I felt that wasn't really my problem. Next time, make someone feel a little more welcome! You're a hospital just like any other hospital! My first experience at the Erie Animal Hospital was bland and nothing special. I brought my first puppy to this establishment and was let down each appointment, time after time. My puppy was diagnosed with Giardia (a common parasite found in puppies). He was treated five times over the course of 3 months. I called the vet many times expressing my concern, because his symptoms did not change. After the vet could not come up with a plan of attack to get ride of the giardia I decided to conduct my OWN research. My small toy poodle should have been on several cycles of the medicine because giardia multiplies by dividing. Soon my puppy was infected with 3x the amount of giardia he originally had when first seen at the Erie Animal Hospital.  With that being said, I switched to the Glennwood Pet Hospital and on my way out a worker at the Erie Animal Hospital said "good luck honey".  So sad and unsympathetic. Well we took our dog in to get neutered, my appointment phone call was neutered and shots only. Well I go in and they deciced to have him routinely scheduled for a stomach tack also. This stomach tack was placed with the words neuter beside it and no one ever told me he was getting two procedures. I didnt realize it had nothing to do with a routine neuter of our dog. So now instead of the neuter costing 150 they charged another 250 for the stomach tack. They poorly explained this, not once did I hear TWO procedures. I didnt even know what that was to even schedule it. So now my dog needs all these pain meds and sedation bc this is not a simple surgery like neutering. My dog now has a 4 inch long incision on his belly and cut through his stomach muscle of my Rotty. I would not recommend them to anyone. We are still trying to get our money back and are considering a lawyer. They scam you watch out people. Read Less

The vet tech took my foster dog to the back and administered a vaccine that I had never authorized and did not want.  Staff is not very friendly and the vets seem uninterested. After several years of being unhappy, I will take my business elsewhere! Avoid Erie Animal Hospital! Read Less

My English Bulldog loves her visits! She hops up on the scale and greets everyone she sees. Every other animal I have owned would get anxiety going to other animal hospitals. I have spent a small fortune on my sweet Ellie Mae and I wouldn't trust any other place to care for her! Read Less

Unprofessional, rude ands not truthful. Our pet had an injured leg and they all they did was try to upsell us on pain meds, tried to take leg off or even put the pet down when pet was didn't need this. They gave an X-Ray and didn't even go over or would show us results. We eventually asked what about the pets legs? Isnit broke? "We have no way of knowing because the pet is too young." (The pet is 1 1/2 years old) So why even give an X-Ray? We confirmed our families experience with our normal vet and they basically said they lied. If the pet was just born it us possible, but not for a pet that is over a year old. They also gave an X-Ray with actual results. Also, this place should be able to show the X-Ray they gave and email it to Vet, but they won't most likely bexause they did no actual X-Ray. Its sad that you can have a pet that is in dire need of assistance and they take advantage of you. Read Less

He really eased my mind and took his time to explain to me what is happening with my pet and what I should do to prevent future poblems. I am a little upset on may 12th which was a Thursday I called your AAA clinic to ask if u could cut Gizmos nails as I have done this before and u always would hold the check till the next day when my check would clear this time I was told NO I have been going to your clinic for years never had a problem because u refused gizmo hurt one of his do claws I took him today to Paws and Claws got nails done but they told me could not do the one bad nail that it will fall off in time it was bleeding but got it to stop ! If u could have done his nails this would never have happened I always pay for my services from u and like I said u always held my check till the next day until now Gizmo should never had this happen to him :( Read Less

I am a full time student and they have the perfect hours and very good with helping me with the financial aspect of it. Only thing that I would say is I wish they could have same price as the sister clinic downtown. I didn't feel safe at all at that location and would love to have her spay at a Cheaper cost at the 26th st location. Other than that everyone is great! With out this hospital my dog Cherry would not still be here. You opened your doors to me after hours to help stabilize her after she was hit by a car. We can't thank you enough for getting her splinted and xrayed and preparing her for her trip to Pittsburgh... Without your recommendation we would not still have her in our lives today. BEWARE!!!!!  The vet withheld care from my kitten so she would die because he suspected rabies.  He didn't trust what I said about the kitten, that would have made it impossible for the kitten to have rabies. My kitten was at The Pet Emergency Center for  two days and one night and no one there suspected rabies.  Maybe it's because they hire more qualified veterinarians.  An hour after I was told the kitten was dead, I was told they were sending her for rabies testing and I could not even get her body back to bury or cremate.Don't take a chance with the money hungry, uncaring veterinarian at Erie Animal Hospital.  Your pet deserves better.  My kitten did and I will always regret not protecting her.Oh and testing proved she did NOT have rabies. I would not return to this service unless it were an emergency and I could not find a better alternative. I visited for a routine canine issue and was charged far more than twice the typical rate for a brief office visit. The vet seemed competent but insisted upon unnecessary tests. They charged a premium for the medication. I left with a bill approximating that for  a surgical procedure. I have  owned many animals for many years and have never encountered this problem. My mistake may have been going to place that bills itself an "animal hospital" rather than a veterinary service. Read Less

This is not our regular vet, but when our dog was hit by a car, we took him there since they were open later. First, we waited in the waiting room with a bleeding broken dog for a half an hour. We were assured he would be operated on FIRST in the morning but was not actually treated for almost 24 hours. Upon taking him to our regular vet for follow up, after removing the bandage, he was not actually ever stitched up and was incredibly infected.
