Helped a friend take their sick cat there. They where kind and friendly the place is clean. It is $50.00 just for the appointment then the costs of what they do for her and the cat another $50.00 so all together a $100.00 vet bill but the cat is doing better it had upper respiratory infection. I won't take my reptiles anywhere else! Dr C is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to exotics. He complimented the look of my juvenile ball python, which has a newer, rare gene combo. Cant even give the place one star need negative star option.... Staff is nice but the real question do they know what there doing? NO , Do they care about the animals NO, Do they care about anything but the money NO, If you want to go there for a shot or a check up your fine anything more DO NOT DO IT, C-section you will get the puppies back cold and the mother will die 7 minutes after getting her home! I am not making this story up I am not exaggerating! I think to myself well maybe they will do something for me considering the price since i paid 1200.00 to have my dog get sub par care and die. nope not a thing. Then one of the puppies gets sick crashing im not home my wife runs over there in a panic.... I think well this is the time they are going to show me some compassion for what happen i go to pick the puppy up after a day of oxygen and some fluids 350.00 when i say puppy i mean new born... So yeah if you want to go to this place for something like shots, check up, etc.. your fine you will be charged full price but they can handle that.... Went here for my dog because he was in pain due to him falling and hurting himself the first vet said to put him on bed rest for 4 -6 weeks and he would be fine. 4-6 weeks later we take him back because he was not any better, so we see another vet who works there, they say he has a slipped disc and prescribed pain killers and a steroid and tell us to come back for a follow-up when the steroids run out. 1 year later my dog is still not better we go for follow-up they give us a different painkiller and the steroids are now to be weened off not once was a blood test given. A friend of mine tells me that prolonged use of steroids could cause diabetes which I was not told and had no idea. So we took dog to another vet office they immediately do an x-ray and blood test which an x-ray was never taken at Gilbertsville vet. Turns out my dog has had Lymes disease for some time now and we are waiting to see the results of the x-rays and now we have to see if my dog has Cushing's disease due to the prolonged use of steroids. My wife and are never going back here again. Read Less

I cannot even find the words to describe how incredible my experience was with Dr. John Coniglario. He took care of my blue and gold macaw and was wonderful. I have had Sadie to a couple other vets and believe me when I say those appointments did not go well - they either lost their temper at her shenanigans or were afraid of her. So I was very apprehensive about taking Sadie in but she needed veterinary attention. I was also hopeful that it would go well and I would finally at long last find an avian vet. And to my relief and delight, I have. I am still in awe of how he and his assistant handled her - she is a difficult customer to say the least! I cannot say enough good things about this physician and his expertise with birds. If you have a bird and have been searching for an avian vet without success, I highly recommend Dr. Coniglario. I would drive hours if I had to to get my birds to him.Read Less

Even though they are located in a smaller city, these guys have managed to master combining the warmth and caring you feel from the small town vet (explained everything thoroughly) with the professionalism and modern technology you would see at a larger city location. Such a refreshing combination. We also noticed the place is so clean, despite handling pets all day. My hubby suffers bad allergies and was barely bothered by being there. They have more then exceeded our expectations and did such a wonderful job helping us get our Golden Doodle back on her feet again. We brought our 1 1/2 year old dog in to get him checked because he refused to eat or keep any water down and was acting funny. Our previous vet said they couldn't get him in for a few days but we knew something was very wrong and was urgent. The people at the front desk were extremely nice and the doctors were very accommodating. We found out after they kept him over night, monitored him, did blood tests and X-rays that he had complete kidney failure. We had one obvious choice so our puppy didn't suffer anymore. Our frustration was with our previous vet because we brought the symptoms that related to that up about a year ago such as the amount of water he was always drinking, and without doing tests said that he was just dehydrated. Gilbertsville did their best to make him comfortable and were EXTREMELY sincere when giving us bad news and comforting us during our hard time. I really do feel they did everything they could to help us and I would recommend them to anyone. We also got a hand written card in the mail about a week later, which really touched us, our dog was everything to us and they were just so great to us. Read Less

Excellent only touches the surface! Where do you start when the people who care for your animal friends treat you like family! You feel safe & everyone is there for you & cares. I had an experience when my Aussie Didgeri-Do-Da-Day who was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Didgeri & I were treated with respect & love as we went through this journey with an outcome that was not good. I could have never handle the emotions attached to the loss of my young dog without the compassion everyone showed toward Didgeri, myself & my family. You all mean so much to my family & I. Knowledgeable and Professional.. I recently was in search of a new Vet for my 4 Dogs. I knew Winston my Schnauzer was in need of a dental cleaning. I called to schedule an appointment and the front desk staff was amazing. They made scheduling an appointment very easy. I was scheduled with Dr. Smith a few says later. Dr. Smith was great with Winston. He educated me on Winston's teeth and why it was important to take care of them. He made me feel very comfortable. Winston went in for his cleaning and was home the same day. The Techs were also great in going over all the instructions for his at home care. He was in no pain and back to him self the next day with few limitations. They treated Winston like one of there own! I will be recommending them to everyone I know! Read Less

This place is hell! Do NOT take your beloved pets here. My first problem with this place was last year with my kitten Enzo. We took him here to make sure everything was fine due to him eating less and their first/ONLY suggestion was to put him to sleep. No tests were done just was told it most likely might be a genetic problem and he might be in pain. I was not there for that appointment my husband was but they convinced my husband the best thing is to put him to sleep. My second problem with this kitty killing place is recent. We took our kitten Picachu in to get checked up and fix her butt problem. We were told 75% of kittens had her problem and its a no big deal procedure we would have her back within a few hours. ( they didn't keep her over night) The next morning we wake up to find she cannot move an inch of her body! She was paralyzed! She was an extremely active kitty before getting the surgery. We take took her back to see whats going on and they admit to most likely giving her too much gas during the surgery. The one nurse also said her butt problem fell back to normal before surgery but they went ahead and did it anyway just to make sure. They then tell us it does't look good and to put her to sleep. No big deal right? She started turning purple due to her brain swelling up and lack of oxygen so we were forced to let them put her to sleep. I am extremely upset! These animals are family! Its a vets job to fix the problem and find solutions. Not to only have the option of putting pets to sleep, which is the only thing this place is good at. We have two more healthy cats which we will be keeping away from this place.Read Less

I used to be a client here when Dr. Monschein owned it. I have been without animals for 4 years now and brought my first "small dog" here today. I was wondering if it could still be as good as in the "olden days". Well, let's just say that my new little guy is rather finicky with new people. Being a veterinary technician I am very critical. I was impressed when I first walked in and there was immediately a fresh clean smell and there was also separate areas for dogs, cats and birds. The staff are very professional and very educated. They took there time during each office visit, listened to my needs and my pets needs which is very important to me.  Yes they are a bit pricey but  you definitely get what you pay for.  I was not only impressed with both office visits but also i received followup phone calls to check on my animals both times.  They are an AAHA accredited animal hospital which says a lot as well.  I was very impressed with Dr Jill Kulig and how she handled my very anxious dog who normally is a total biting growling mess at a vet office at her prior veterinarians but here she was excellent and much more at ease because the staff handled her with care and patience and were not fearful of her.  I will continue to use this animal hospital. Awesome experience at the vet! Dr. Hanlon was amazing with our rescue Cattle dog Boomer. She can be a little choosey one who she likes and he was extremely patient and gentle with her. Usually its in and out at the vets but he actually took his time and answered all ( there was a lot) my questions about the what itfs and side effects. This is really an excellent practice. I have taken my two cats here for about 5 years now and I'm always impressed with how gentle these docs are. They listen attentively and answer ""dumb owners"" questions with a straight face and a good deal of patience. I have learned a lot about what makes my cats ""tick"". They are also ""open"" to the ideas of a more holistic approach to animal care, which isn't usual for the average ""pill popper"" Vet in my experience. They never keep us waiting more than 5 minutes, which is important with a wiggly animal in a carrier, and the office staff is friendly; never too busy to answer questions and always seem to be in a good humor. I especially like the separate dog and cat entrances; if you have a dog that likes to chase cats, you don't want them coming face-to-face with them at the Vet's office! If your kitty is afraid of dogs, the last thing you need is to walk through a room filled with dogs with an already nervous cat in the carrier. The office is very well thought out that way. It is always clean and doesn't have any unpleasant odors. They have recently developed a website where you can go to access information about your pet. If you aren't sure what shots your pup or kitty needs, you can get that information ""on line"". Maybe more vets are doing this but this was the first time I'd run into it and I love the idea. The prices are more reasonable than many vets I've been to in the past and I unhesitatingly recommend this practice to anyone who regards their pets as members of their family. I never have the feeling that they are padding their bill with unnecessary items or that they are trying to talk me into other procedures that may not be needed as I have run into with other Vets in my area. If you are unhappy with your current Vet, please check these people out. I have frequently recommended them to folks who are unhappy with their current Vet. The only ""CON"" that I have (and it is personal to me) is that they are over 20 miles from where I live! That distance could mean a matter of ""life or death"" in an emergency and is something to consider. I would love to see them open a branch closer to my neighborhood. That shows how good they are!
