We took our golden in to be treated for breathing problems. They took x-ray and said it's pneumonia here are meds she will be fine. 3 hours later she was worse and I decided I needed a real vet that knows how to read an x-ray. Turned out she had a tumor on her heart shooting blood all through her chest and stomach cavity. We had to put her down just hours after pneumonia diagnosis. If you can't read an x-ray you are a useless vet. Should have been refunded all that I spent there that evening. We took our dog here for years and were happy.  Staff was always friendly.  Prices were a bit high, but ok.  When his regular vet, Dr Steinbaugh moved to another practice, we were given a female vet, whose name I don't recall.  I may have never heard it since she didn't introduce herself.   She came in, examined our dog, and then left me there with the assistant.  Didn't say a word to me (or the dog).  Not one word.  Maybe her mind was elsewhere, but it was bizarre...like I wasn't even in the room.  Certainly she was coming back in I thought.  Nope.  That was it. I have been taking my pets to Hufnagel Veterinary Clinic since Dr. Tom opened his business. He has seen me through happy times with new pets and sad times when I had to put down two of my cats. Presently Dr. Tom and Dr. Rob are helping me with an elderly cat. They both are so caring and compassionate. I've received follow up phone calls from Dr. Rob checking on Toby and taking the time to explain test results and the plan of action that would work best for him. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I can call with a simple question, or with a major problem and know that the staff and doctors will do their utmost best to assist me. One of the times Toby was hospitalized, Dr. Tom allowed me to come in after work and sit with him for a little while to comfort him...that is what a caring doctor is all about! I can't say enough good things about Drs. Tom and Rob and their staff. They saved my dog's life three years ago by removing a volleyball sized tumor attached to his spleen. Tucker has had both CCLs repaired and has had dental surgery at Hufnagel Veterinary Clinic also. Their prices are reasonable, because they care about you and your animals. DO NOT GO HERE!! My mom called them on a Wednesday afternoon her dog was barely breathing turning blue, the staff said the vet was not in and my mom said where is the closest animal hospital or vet and her reply was "*sigh* your going to have to wait a minute im not at my desk"!!!! Then when my mom went to get her dogs records she was told "your not a responsible pet owner if you dont know the next closest vet"!! You are a vet office!! My 4 cats and one dog have been patients of Dr. Hufnagel for 8 years. They receive EXCELLENT medical care from Dr. Hufnagel. Dr. Hufnagel is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. His staff members are caring and professional. His office is immaculately clean. I always have short wait times in their reception area. My CFA registered cats have many hereditary health problems. I have to say, I have found my new vet. I have a runt kitten who has been having some health issues. The previous vet I took her to did not think she was a runt but that she was a too young to be away from her momma and completely healthy. They also thought she had a respiratory infection. She had a fit, almost like a seizure and that vet was closed. A friend suggested Hufnagel Veterinary Clinic. They were so focused on her. I was amazed. They found she has a bad heart murmur, she's hypoglycaemic, she had fleas ( which they did have something to give her for that) and she's not too young but very under developed. They called the next day to check on her and want me to call them Saturday and Monday. Very dedicated and caring people. They are giving me hope that she may survive. My appointment, with all they did, came to less than 80$. She has a follow up this Thursday and they are prepared to see her immediately if she doesn't improve or gets worse. They got me in the very day I called. The staff is a bit dry and to the point (not rude). They are very serious about their work. I don't care how they are with me as long as they take good care of my kitty. But I have to say they were very polite and patient with me, as I was a mess with how worried I am and was about her. Took my Italian Greyhound to have a patella surgery. Girl took her off me. No vet. I called. Surgery good get tomorrow. Girl called next day come and get her. I go and pick up my baby and again no vet. Tell me she is t Having a hard time. Chewed thru her collar. Scare crap out of me 3 more laser treatments no vet call ask to see him she is NOT USING LEG to actually speak to a vet after a surgery will cost me 50.00 more and he was mad. Raising voice. Told me she is fine crate her. She lost all muscle. Went to different vet cortisone shot and starting to use. Thinks there may be nerve damage from Dr Huffnagel. Do not go he has only time to collect money no time to talk explain or even care.for animals. Still dealing with dog on 3 legs only. He broke my baby. Wont fix her or even talk about it with out a another check in his hand. Do not go.Read Less

They treat the pets better than their owners. They will charge you a FULL office visit every time you walk in the door! Even if it's just for a simple vaccine, AND EVEN IF THEY PREVIOUSLY TELL YOU THAT YOU'LL ONLY BE CHARGED FOR THE VACCINE! They will gladly take advantage of your wife, who's there with pets and children in tow, and pressure you into buying services you don't need. There is no remorse or even apology when you call and complain. Go someplace else that treats the owners as well as the pets. Read Less

When my kitty was diagnosed to have his leg amputated by an emergency vet, Dr. Hufnagel was able to save his leg. He kept my cat for 2 weeks and charged me a very minimal fee. He does what is right by the animals and isn't driven by money. His staff was extremely helpful, knowledgable and friendly. I highly recommend them! Read Less

Please stay away..2 days ago we had to bring our sweet little boy of 13 yrs old o be out down. He has gone there his whole life.we called for the apt and when we went in I was balling my husband was carrying him in. First of all the rude receptionist rolled her eyes at me to another girl. 2nd. We were told it would be 44.00 to have him put down,I told her I want to go in the room and hold him as he goes. She told me at that time it would be another $44.00... Yes you read that right! I didn't have that much with me bc I knew how much it was. I asked if they could bill me as I was crying and she rudely said NO. We went and sat down with my baby and the lady came over ,I didn't want to let him go. We were very upset to know my baby had taken his last breath with a stranger. We were treated with no respect for us or him. We didn't even get a little sympathy or care from them. Then they bring him out in a old wool hairy blanket tied in 3 stress of white tape. As soon as we left I made my husband take it off him and then to find him in a 1/2 of a garbage bag tied at the top with layers and layers of white tape like a sack of garbage. When we took him out he was all jammed in there. Since this happened I have had over 11 people tell me they could have told me not to go there and their stories.....PLEASE PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM THEM....YEARS AGO THEY WERE GOOD BUT NOW I WOULDN'T TAKE A SNAKE TO THEM. our dog Smokey was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. Dr. Hufnagel said they were the worst hips he's ever seen on a dog. Without hesitation Dr. H said lets get him signed up for surgery and after the first leg heals we'll do the 2nd leg. Don't worry about money i'll give you a good deal, lets just get the dog taken care of...that's our first priority...making sure we fix your dog. 2 months after the first hip was healed we did the 2nd hip and smokey is doing wonderful now. We would of had to put smokey to sleep within a couple years if we didn't get to have to surgery done but thanks to Dr. Hufnagel he did it for us and now smokey can live a long and happy life pain free! I have an older dog who Dr Hufnagel did hip surgery on when younger. She started slowing down and thought her hip surgery was catching up with her. But on a recent visit found her hips are great and her knee is going bad. Worried but the doctor said there is so much he can do and was so concerned with her well being(and mine haha). I took my cat for a postshelter adoption checkup. The staff and Dr. were very friendly and curious about my cat; and, they were very professional and curteous with me.The hospital was very clean and didn't have that disinfectant smell to it. My waiting time for my cat's exam was minimal; and the exam process was not traumatizing for my cat or myself. The Dr. and Staff were terrific. The Dr. explained everything to me and answered all of my questions in a professional manner and did not make me feel that the process was being rushed. You know, like an assembly line Dr. visit- in and out in 3 minutes or less. The Dr. and staff made sure that all of my concerns were addressed.The bill was very reasonable. They were so good to my cat and myself I would have paid more. The hospital has a huge parking lot, and the staff will even help you in with you animal(s). They have a website so that you can see your pet's medical history and exam and you even upload pictures of your animal. Overall I think the clinic is terrific and I recommend it to anyone with animals. Read Less
