This place is awful and I will now change my vet due to my last experience... My cat had an a kidney failure and was dying, she was taken to avets on Sunday where we were told a rehydration would hold her over til Tuesday due to Monday being closed for Labor Day. Tuesday morning I call pleading to be seen due to seriousness of the emergency and was told they couldn't see her until the next morning which after repeated attempts she was able to squeeze me in at 2:15. After waiting five hours after I called at 9am with the emergency I was there at 2.15 and got seen ehhh a mere 20 minutes after I arrived.. The vet first goes you should have came in sooner (well take that up with your secretary on the phone) and then my cat had a seizure on the table. They then rush her into the back when a nurse comes back and pops her head in the door "oh do we have permission to do cpr", and me thinking why would she was but yea do it I would like my cat to be saved. Moments later the vet comes back in and hands me the bill after my cat didn't make it and had to be euthanized and then she told me "oh it wouldn't have mattered if you brought her this morning she was already gone". So apparently they are doing cpr on a dead cat and hooking her up to an ecg machine without "asking for permission" and tells me they brought her back 4 times but that was it. After getting the bill we were charged 80 dollars for the cpr and ecg "on a dead cat" Without informing us they would cost us. After protesting the bill the owner and vet were VERY rude about it saying the bills the bills what did you want us to do not do the cpr that's emergency protocol. (Well informing me of the cost woulda been nice). And no clear reason on why I paid anything but for the euthanasia which is was going to be the ultimate outcome no matter what. (And not to mention the owner / surgeon talks to people like their idiots and is completely rude and tried to make a Mercedes / Volkswagen analogy when it comes to affording the bill and saying things like hey we are cheaper than avets, real mature guy?) I will never be returning to this establish ever again. This last visit was such a joke when it comes to supposedly loving animals and not raping people of their money that I had enough.Read Less

Wow do I feel like a fool! Ive used Norwin Veterinary Hospital since moving here over 10 years ago. I find out now that they have been charging more than double the typical retail prices on medications and vaccines! The push on meds has gotten worse over the last couple of years but on this visit I had taken my cat in along with a fecal sample because of signs of parasites. Before the test result is even back the Vet recommends that I buy the Metronidazole , Panacur, Profender de-wormer, a pro biotic, a B-12 shot, diarrhea preventative and a new advanced product from Frontline. Additionally the cat is due for the Rabies and Leukemia booster ($124.50 additional for that visit) and that will have to be done in a two week follow up visit. I squirm and pick and choose because I cant afford all of this as it is. Out of this entire list, I left with Panacur and Profender for this cat and the other one at home and the bill is $204. I check prices with another vet and online and I discover the typical retail price for these items is less than half of what they have charged me. For instance, they charge $21 for a 3 pack of 2g Panacur, online its @12.50, the new Vet charges $10.00. I check with my new vet and am told the annual Rabies vaccine that Ive been paying $47.50 for is $20. The bottom line is that I could afford anti-diarrheal medicine and the full course of antibiotics if I were not being overcharged. The cats have been undertreated because of these mark-ups. This has happened before and they have looked me straight in the eye all of this time seeing that I cant afford everything recommended because of what they have marked it up to. I know for a fact that manufacturers provide a list of suggested retail prices as a guideline to Vets. This Vets response is that this is a free market enterprise and he has overhead to pay for.electricity, building space, specialty equipment like Sonograms and hospital accreditations to conform to.... My reply is that in a free market enterprise, I would be given a prescription and an opportunity to purchase the medications at a place of my choosing. The direct result of his concept of free market enterprise is that my cat goes under treated in order to pay for his credentials or someone elses sonogram. My hope is that they can find a way to help animals and stay in business, but I'm going elsewhere. Read Less

Searched reviews of local vets to find a place to take my sweet dog. I often use reviews to choose places to use for various services but don't usually take the time to leave them. My golden retriever had a swollen paw and I couldn't see any obvious signs as to why. The swelling worsened overnight and I had to find a place last minute to take her. I decided to go here and could not be happier with the whole experience. There was everything that any pet owner would want and expect. Friendly, respectful staff, decent prices, honesty, good and thorough exam, gentle with my girl...just everything. It was suspected by me and by them that it was "soft tissue damage", maybe a sprain. In that case I am pretty sure nothing would have needed to be done but I needed her to have medical attention just in case it was a break or infection of some sort. I'm so happy Dr Gates took time to really care and examine very closely, she was super observant with sugars reactions (they were very subtle and hard to detect) but main thing was that she thought she may have seen the sign of a very small puncture. And that is what it was, shave her paw and it was an infection from a puncture, so glad she didn't just assume it was soft tissue damage and give it a quick look, she really took her time! Offered X-ray to verify if any foreign object may be there but pretty much didn't think there would be, told me price, also told me "conservative" approach, even pretty much said X-ray was not neccasarily needed. I couldn't believe she wasn't trying to get as much money out of me as she could...lol. I opted for the X-ray just to make sure we knew what it was and treated it properly. Anyway, just a foot infection from some sort of puncture. Bill was very reasonable and I was told charges before they completed everything and I agreed to them. This is my new vet. Great with my pet and great with me! Read Less
