Longwood Veterinary Center literally saved my dog's life.  We were new to the area and my dog experienced complications after a procedure done at another veterinary hospital.  I called Longwood and they told me to bring her right over and they met us at the door.  It was an incredibly stressful time and Longwood was incredibly kind and patient every step of the way. 2 years ago our fur baby Rescue had a 15 lb tumor removed by Dr. Parsons. I'm proud to say she is still with us today thanks to Dr. Parsons & the wonderful staff there. If I had listened to our local vet that had used for years Rescue would not be here as we were told there was no cure & recommended I have her put to sleep. On the am this was scheduled Paul said to me "do we have to do today"? And I cancelled the appt & called one of my closest friends Andrea Kauffman, who has saved so many animals by giving them loving homes & asked for her advice & she recommended Longwood Vet Hospital & told me to ask for Dr Parsons. Andrea went with me on that visit as I live in lower De & she was concerned for Rescue as well. Dr. Parsons advised me that they could do surgery & there was a 50/50 chance of survival. Andrea noticed every time Dr Parsons said that Rescue would wag her tail & "smack" Andrea's leg as if saying yes, yes, & we needed the hope she offered us. The staff along with Dr.s there took exceptionally great care of her & after couple days we were allowed to bring her home. My family & I highly recommend Longwood Vet. Hospital & continue to praise them for the wonderful care. They saved our precious family member Rescue. Words cannot thank them enough. God Bless everyone there.Read Less

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable! We used to take our dog to a rescue center for vet services and you can clearly tell the difference between high-end vet care. The vet didn't push for all these shots and recommended we split them up in increments without charging us twice. It's actually better for our dog, who wasn't groggy after the shot. The place has plenty of parking and is very clean. They even have two waiting areas for your cat and dog. If you want your pet to live a long and happy life, this is the place you should take them to. Read Less

The staff at LVC provided fantastic care to our precious little Oliver for the 13 years he graced us with his presence. During his final days, the compassion and empathy we were shown by Dr. Andrews, Dr. Parsons, and the rest of the staff far exceed our expectations and was a true blessing during one of the most difficult times of our lives. I simply cannot say enough about this place, the vets, & the staff. My journey with them started a few years ago when I relocated here from Chicago. At that time I had a senior Siberian Husky who they cared for expertly and she unfortunately had a host of problems as she aged. She was diabetic, arthritic, and we ended up losing her to cushings disease. But, they made her last years with me & my husband amazing. Between the care and support they provided with traditional medicine and alternative treatments with things like heat therapy and acupuncture. My sweet princess was able to live as pain free as possible and she was happy and active until the end. They cared for her and me and my husband as we had to let her go. Later on we became the proud pet parents of 2 little MiKi's and of course we would trust them to none other than Longwood Veterinary Center. I want to say thank you to Dr. Corrina Parsons, Dr.Carla Andrews, Dr. Kimberley Knipe, Dr. Beatrice McCabe and to the awesome Admin team Christine, Jessica, and all the others who I am so sorry to say the names escape me and of course the nursing staff! I LOVE this place!!! I don't think I really realized how much I loved and appreciated it until I moved to the city... Just got back from my first visit to the vet in Philadelphia today and the experience just did NOT compare. The staff at Longwood Vet is so caring, friendly, and knowledgeable... knowing I was budget-conscious, they always kept that in mind when recommending procedures and were always patient when it came to my inquisitive cats. I have taken my golden retriever to see two of the doctors in the practice and I have been impressed by both veterinarians. They are mindful of getting down on the level of their patients and making them feel comfortable. They are very thorough in their examinations and show a caring spirit with their services. I only was there for a year because I moved to Ohio, but my cat saw 3 doctors (probably because usually I made an appointment last minute) and all of them were very nice and caring. They had to bring her back to clean out her injured foot and I didn't hear her yowl or hiss once, which suggests really careful and caring handling; the first and only time I've ever heard my cat hiss was when I grabbed her leg cause it looked swollen when I first realized she was injured. They used minimal restraint in the room because she just laid there and didn't need it, rather than the classic and automatic "scruff,stretch, slam" most doctors use. Lastly, they seemed genuinely interested in helping me have the best experience with my cat. She initiated the conversation on behavior. She asked if my cat had kitty litter problems, scratching problems, car problems etc and was ready with suggestions. She must know the number one reason animals are euthanized is behavior related- I'm sure she's saved lots of lives. Read Less

We rushed our beagle, Tres, in right before closing time on a Saturday in the middle of March 2014. Dr. Knipe was so kind and helpful and the staff was so amazing. Tres needed an emergency c section and, 3 beautiful little beagles later, mama and all babies are healthy and happy! Without you guys at Longwood Vet, we would noot have Tres or any of those little puppies today (all of whom went to close friends of ours and regularly attend family beagle parties!) LOVE the staff from the Doctors to their assistants and most definitely the office staff - particularly Christine.  Christine's warm sense of humor has helped immensely while dealing with the reality of the cost of surgery and medications. A special shout out to Dr. Strine as well!  She operated on our Lab Mya's torn cruciate.  She has been fantastic.  She has been both thorough and compassionate.  I would absolutely recommend her if your pet is in need of surgery.As an FYI, the center is a member of Pet Portal where you can manage your pet's private health Online.  Using this site you can print out your pet's vaccination record, request an appointment, send a message or purchase products from their store. Longwood Vets are so wonderful! My first experience with them was about six months ago when my cat wasn't acting like himself. I took him to the office, the vet checked him out and said he had severe feline leukemia. It was devestating, but we had to put him to sleep. I was crying for days after my cat passed away. Approximately three weeks after he was gone, I received a package in the mail from Longwood Vets. They made a paw print of my cat in plaster with his name and sent it to me. I loved it and have it sitting on my nightstand. (I know that sounds crazy.) It was the most thoughtful gesture and I wouldn't go anywhere but Longwood! Read Less
