Haven't been to a place that was more interested in selling me products instead of telling me how healthy my dog is. For a dog who is completely healthy besides having tapeworms they ended up charging me $455. If my dog is healthy, why is it costing me $455? I understand they gave me all her vaccines and the 6 months of heartworm medication, but I refuse to believe this is how much a healthy dog should cost. I dont even spend that much on myself for the doctors a year. Its just disgusting how much they overcharge for everything. I love my dog, but this is way too much for a dog. $200 to max $300 for a dog is completely fine with me, but this is too much. I will not be going to this place again. I am only writing this review so others understand that you can find better preventive care somewhere else. Read Less

We took our dog to Animal Crackers last summer. After being new to the area, they were right down the street so we decided to take our dog there when we noticed he had some rashes and a lump on his leg. During the first visit, the one and only vet there (Michelle Hawks) gave him a steroid shot and assured me that the rash and lump on his leg would go away in no time. The rash went away, the lump did not, and that's where the nightmare begins. We took him back there to have the lump looked at after it had doubled in size within a week. She said it needed to be removed and biopsied. We took him in for his surgery on a Friday, during the pre-op the power had gone out for less than a half hour, she decided to then leave for the weekend without performing the surgery, and left our dog with the vet techs (who were very nice). So we then had to reschedule for the next week. She performed the surgery, the biopsy came back negative, but the wound that she left our poor dog with is indescribable. When our dog was given back to us, it looked like the stitches were done with her eyes closed. The wound was barely even closed, and he was still bleeding. They gave us 0 care instructions, and just sent us on our way. Needless to say, his stitches popped 2 days later. We made the poor decision of bringing him back there for her to fix it. She immediately became frustrated with our dog, roughing him around to stay still, causing him eventually to pee himself he was so scared. Without even putting him down, she wanted to just staple him shut. $400 more dollars later, it looked even worse. Our poor dog just ended up with more pain, and staples in him (which we later learned aren't even approved by REAL VETS). The wound ended up looking so bad it was pussing everywhere. The wound popped AGAIN. The THIRD surgery we did was at a different Vet, Gwynedd, where they had to scrape all of the scar tissue out and start over to undo all of her horrible work. DO NOT take your animals here!!! Read Less

I'm not sure when and how my husband and I decided to start taking our dog to Animal Crackers Veterinary Clinic, but it's a decision I regret.Lenny was a healthy, active pug-rat terrier mix whom The Husband and I loved more than anyone. I could go on and on about what a great dog he was, but that's not the point of this review. At the end of April 2008, just before he turned 3, I took him to the vet for his regular check-up. Dr. Hawks said he was perfectly healthy. Great.Three months later, he fainted while chasing a squirrel. That was not normal. (Lenny could outrun The Husband, who runs a mile in about 6 minutes. And he could go forever.) We took him to Dr. Hawks on a Thursday afternoon. She did a series of tests on him and an X-ray. His heart was about 50 percent bigger than it was supposed to be, so it wasn't pumping blood and oxygen through his body the way it was supposed to. She prescribed some medications for him and told us he'd be fine. Then I went home and did some research about enlarged hearts in dogs. I found some really detailed information on the University of Pennsylvania veterinary school Web site. And I learned that dogs with enlarged hearts will die without the proper treatment and medications. (It's really nice to learn that from the Internet instead of your vet.) I looked at the list of medications the veterinary school Web site said vets should prescribe. Dr. Hawks had prescribed all but two - one of them a diuretic to help the dog pee so it won't develop kidney and liver problems on top of the heart trouble. The Husband and I called Dr. Hawks' office right away (that Thursday night) to ask for the diuretic. She was busy with other patients. OK. Understandable. She didn't call back Thursday. She didn't call back Friday. We spent the weekend researching all the different types of treatment, and decided we wanted to try some holistic treatment on top of the medications. Meanwhile, Lenny started having seizures. We called Sunday night. And then again Monday morning. We wanted to talk to Dr. Hawks. We wanted to do something to help Lenny and we wanted to see if she'd work with us on the holistic treatment. Her staff promised she'd call back around lunch-time.Lenny was dead by lunch-time. My previously healthy, energetic little puppy died in my arms on my dining room floor after he had a seizure. When Dr. Hawks finally called - at 3 p.m. - it was too late. We told her Lenny had died. Maybe she apologized... I don't really remember... it was such an awful day that I cry thinking about it now.We decided then that we wouldn't go to Animal Crackers again. We were very upset that she had failed to prescribe the appropriate medications, and failed to call us back after several calls. So now, we take our pets to a different vet. Then in April 2009, we got a post card from Animal Crackers/Dr. Hawks reminding us that our eight-months dead dog was due for his shots. How much more insensitive can a doctor get? Read Less

Afree some research and calling around I would suggest avoiding this practice entirely.  They try to create their own reviews on Google and yelp.  A bit of research into the made up reviewers will show you they are trying to gouge five star ratings and your money.  Also imagine not being able to order medications from reputable online pharmacies and being forced to pay their insane mark ups???  As if Times aren't tough enough crooks like this exist stealing from people who are unaware but do anything for the pets they love and adore.  Its disgusting l Read Less
